An unprofessional, disappointing experience made a hard time even more difficult. The positive: the staff were kind and reassuring, their caskets were beautiful, they handled our loved one with care and made her look beautiful. The negative: All other aspects of the funeral were a mess. We were ready to start the service, but they weren't ready to start on time, which we had to go find them to find out. The service was disorganized and confusing, they had technical issues with all aspects from the music in the hall, to the slideshow - which was a cheap projector on a cart in front of the pews that wasn't tested until during the service and couldn't be shown - to the music that was meant to be played at the end of the service. They were so unprepared that the funeral director played the song on her iPhone with the volume turned up as high as possible, pointed at the microphone, while standing at the front of the room. The pallbearers had to literally pull back the coffin and shout for the gentleman's attention so he would stop moving the body before an important song came on. We had asked for something non-religious to be said by the grave site, as our loved one was not just not Christian, but not religious at all, and they proceeded to read a long, very religious passage. It was insulting and disrespectful, and we were absolutely speechless. We planned everything with them well in advance, they had all the songs and photos and details of the timing. The staff continually reassured us that everything would be fine and on the day of the funeral they stood by, looked calm and solemn, and nodded saying "Yes, I'm sorry about that, we know." while literally everything was mishandled. Unbelievable experience.
