O'Riley blew me away with everything they did for my moms service. They were extremely efficient, friendly and had great ideas for the service. I had told a few people after everything had settled down that they were the Chick-fil-A of funeral homes. Sounds odd but they did a phenomenal job. My mom had cancer for 2 years and with the pandemic a lot of people hadn't seen her. We gave them a picture of what we wanted her to look like and the person that prepared her made her look like she use to look. They did a outstanding job. Macy, Amber, Elizabeth, Chris and everyone else that works there are just totally top notch. When it's my time, O'Riley will be the place I go because I know it'll be easy for whomever has to deal with the burden.

My 39 year old brother passed away November 24, 2018 in Indianapolis, IN and we live 4hiurs away in Rock Island, IL. We have never had to deal with preparing a for a deceased loved one and we had no idea where to go. The love and concern for the loss of our loved one was truly genuine and sincere. I had made no preparations at all even though it was obvious that my wife was dangerously ill. My first thought on being called during the night by the nursing home to tell me of her passage was to contact O’Riley because of the kind of service they provided some years ago for my mother’s and father’s funerals. Chris Branson and his staff went far beyond what I anticipated to take care of literally every detail throughout the period from transporting my wife from the nursing home to the interment and afterward in the most efficient way possible. Chris Branson personally advised us and took time to answer all our questions and to offer alternatives when my son and I had difficult decisions to make. The staff made all the arrangements with the church and cemetery and was present but not intrusive during the visitation hours so that I could get help if I needed it. Their follow up activities in the days after the funeral were astounding. I could go on page after page detailing all the things they did. Let me summarize by saying "It has been one of my rules of life that one gets what one pays for - if one is lucky". In choosing O'Riley I got above and beyond whatever I could have imagined I was paying for. I find it inconceivable to believe that anyone could get better service at any other funeral home.

I would recommend the Daniel F. O'Riley funeral home to anyone searching for a place to hold services for a loved one. The staff here are authentically compassionate and empathetic for your grief. When my mom was nearing the end of her life, I started calling around to get estimates on funeral service costs. Out of the 5 or so that I called, O'Riley's was the only one who answered the phone and answered my questions immediately. Macy, the assistant I spoke to initially, asked if I wanted to come in the next day to discuss any questions I had. When I arrived the next morning, I was met at the door by Mark. Immediately, I could see a sense of compassion in him. He extended his condolences, which felt genuine. From the beginning, I let Mark know that we were on a tight budget. After giving me a thorough overview of what a funeral entails (I had never planned one before and felt lost and overwhelmed), we shared my mom's wishes with Mark. He used that information to present his most affordable options first. He, then, asked if we'd like to see the anything in a slightly higher price range. Mark remained very respectful of our need to stick with a budget and never showed us anything "pricier" without our consent. He took time to explain the pros and cons of each option and helped us identify areas in which we could cut costs. At the end of this meeting, Mark walked my sister, sister-in-law, and me to the door. He encouraged us to take our time with discussing and choosing a funeral home to care for our mother. And he said that, whether or not we chose O'Riley, they would be thinking about and praying for our family. I went back to the hospital that day and shared my experience at O'Riley with the rest of my family. We decided not to even meet with any other funeral homes. Mark and his staff demonstrated so much care for my sisters and me at our initial meeting, that we were not willing to sacrifice that compassion and empathy just to save a little money (assuming that we would actually save money going somewhere else). After my mother's passing, my siblings and I went back to O'Riley to make final arrangements. Again, Mark was patient and compassionate. He carefully and thoroughly walked us through each and every step in planning my mom's services. He answered ALL of our questions and shared some of his own personal experiences with us to help guide us through non-funeral related issues. O'Riley funeral home took on so much of the responsibility for coordinating and preparing for the services. Mark communicated with the local church where my mother's funeral mass was held. He also coordinated with the out-of-town cemetery where my mother was buried. We provided pictures and song requests, but they created the playlist and slideshow presented at my mother's visitation. They set up all of the items we wanted displayed. They handled floral arrangements and getting copies of her death certificates. They handled the registry book, prayer cards, and announcements. We were given the option of writing our mom's obituary or having the staff do so. They took care of so many details.They even personally delivered all of the flower arrangements to my home following the funeral. Our mother's death was the first major loss my 3 siblings and I had experienced. O'Riley helped ease our burden during this overwhelming and confusing and tragic time. Our mother's funeral was so beautiful and perfect. We are so incredibly grateful to the staff at O'Riley for making this process so much easier than we could have hoped for. Thank you to Mark, Macy, Angie, Karen, Greg, Gary, and the rest of the staff who supported us through this time.

My experience is having my friend be heartbroken because of this company's cold hearted way of conducting business. Apparently, you say one thing over the phone and another in person. Since a heartless, venemous, evil filled mother and daughter duo decided they didn't want their daughter/sibling to pay final respects L you decided to oblige instead of do the right thing. You could have easily made it to where everyone could have paid their respects,but you, instead of doing the right thIng followed the $$$. Not even a balloon can be released? Out in the open??!! What a non way to show compassion and empathy. The complete utter opposite of what funeral homes are supposed to do. All of you involved in this utter disregard of human decency will one day have a maker to face. What kind of human decides they will not let their daughter/sister know their father has passed? To tell other family members not to say anything? To blast social media with stupidity. You supported this dysfunctional behavior instead of allowing 2 minutes for a daughter to say goodbye to her father. You were simply asked for a brief moment so that there could closure. Cold blooded. (Your attempt to defend your poor choice of business is mute. There is already a handful of family that willl not even bother attending the funeral because of this terrible treatment. You might have gotten $$$ this time but you definitely lost even more $$$ with the loss of future customers because of experience had with the way you run your business.)

Having lived on Indianapolis' Southside for over 30 years I've been familiar with Daniel O'Riley Funeral Home for years and have had occasion to visit several times. However recently we had the need to work with the staff directly due to our mother's passing. My high expectations were met and surpassed. Starting with the call from Chris Brunson within hours of mom's passing assuring us that they would have her in their care soon, through the compassionate planning, visitation, services, and follow-up offered by the entire staff, every aspect was handled with care. Funeral planning is something we hope not to have to deal with, but if it's necessary, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Daniel F. O'Riley Funeral Home.

My parents and I preplanned their funerals here with Macy. My father recently passed away and we had his funeral 11/2021.This was my first experience at doing this sort of thing. They did a great job. The visitation and service was very respectful and fabulous. From the large personal picture collage at the entrance to the personalized sign in book with my father and our family personal pictures to the personalized 3 part program with pictures, prayer and write up obituary on back, we were very pleased. They did a great job on dad as he looked very peaceful. The memorial video was a beautiful touch plus we had a video from my parents 50th wedding anniversary that they played on loop for all to see as well. From the beginning of the process all the way to the end, we were treated very well. I was pleasantly surprised by the special touches and attention to detail they give. At a very sad stressful time in your life, they helped make it much easier than I expected.

I have family that work in the funeral industry and now I understand why they said that they would only go to O’Riley. Every person that I dealt with was kind, respectful, patient and helpful. They made the unexpected and tragic death of my 19-year-old soldier son as perfect as it could have been given the circumstances. Chris was amazing. From working with the military liaison, making arrangements for the plane-side honors, reaching out to Indiana Patriot Guard Riders, visitation and the funeral, everything was seamless. He listened to what I wanted and provided guidance on the best way to achieve it. Everyone made me feel like I was a priority to them and not just another transaction. The memorialization banners, cards, tri-folds and sign-in book were beautiful and unlike anything I had ever seen offered at a funeral service. A true keepsake rather than the standard prayer card with a name typed on them. They were even able to accommodate my very last minute request to stream my son’s funeral service allowing the soldiers in his battalion who could not leave base to view. I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with everyone at O’Riley.
