During the worst time of my life I found that not only did I have a professional person doing their job, I also had a shoulder to lean on. My husband and I had put paid for our services years ago, but when it came time, I could not find our certificates. I called Westmount, they told me not to worry they had everything sorted out. When it came time to actually arrange the service Laura lily Syty was absolutely amazing, because of covid there were alot of things that we could not use, Laura made suggestions that I would never have thought, and she pointed out we could redirect funds to pay for those things. Laura went out of her way to make a picture board from the pictures I kept dropping off each day. There is one thing that Laura did that meant more to me than she will ever know. I had a picture of my husband at my older sons wedding, and I also had a picture of my younger son at the same wedding, only thing they were not together, I told her how I wished they had been, she said leave it with me, when I saw the board I almost cried she had cropped them together, I know she spent alot of time on that, because it was so good that my younger son said to me when did you take that picture of John and me. Your whole staff are wonderful too. Marysa, who helped me with the paperwork, Bryce who was there during the service, and all the others, who's names I don't know who work tireless to make things right for families. The hardest thing for a family is letting go and making sure their loved one will be treated with the dignity they deserve. My husband passed away at home, with his family by his side. It was on a Sat and when they came to get him, they not only treated him with dignity but also with discretion as they removed him from our home. They told me they would have someone call me the next day to set up his service. In a job that we expect excellence, they do not get the credit they deserve. We have used there services for my mother in law and were treated the exact same way. This isn't just a job for these people, it's there calling. We were truly blessed to have had them. Walk in and expect to be asked how you are paying. All payments are up front and the forms of accepted payments are under the glass on the table where you are sitting to discuss arrangements. Payment is due in advance the second discussions are done. They get you in full grief mode and leave you wondering what you got. For instance they say a memorial tag is included but when you look at the breakdown they charged you almost 400 bucks for it. I spent $4800 cremating my brother and the cremation bill is yet to come. They market to everyone on your guest book from the second they get the email address. This is a US franchise store and its all about the money money money. I still cannot figure out what I got for the 5k other than them advertising to my relatives. I expect the bill to go much higher yet as the cremation and things come in. Even the obit ad in the record could have been placed at half the price, everything is marked up to the 9th degree. I priced similar cremations for a fraction of the price. Do yourself a favour and look someplace else. I will update this review and post the final invoice details and let you compare them to a more reasonable service. I will not go back to complain because I do not want to soil the memory of my brother but I can surely warn others to do some research before you are pressured into paying up front right away. There is a market place investigation on TV called " Undercover investigation finds big markups, confusing charges and pushy tactics at major funeral home chain " . I wish I would have seen it before visiting here. Google it and educate yourself before making your decisions.

After the passing of my Dad in December Heather, Pam, Al, Marysa and the entire team went above and beyond all expectations to make this difficult time as easy as possible. This was my second experience with Westmount Memorial. Due to Covid 19, arrangements this time had to be made over the phone. My first experience was as good as it could be all things considered. This second time around having to handle things over the phone was very different and nowhere near as good for obvious reasons. My first experience, Margaret helped me with paperwork and led me step by step through everything. This time I received government paperwork to fill out and three unstamped envelopes to mail said paperwork in once I figure out how to fill everything out. No one even mentioned the fact that I would have to fill out paperwork, I only discovered it when I was able to bring myself to open the envelope with the death certificates. Talk about dumping stuff on someone when they are already overwhelmed. I would have appreciated a heads up.

Sadly our family required funeral services this year. But we are very happy with the services and care provided to our family during these times of sorrows. Westmount Funeral Chapel helped my family to care for my mom's funeral. Everything was thought out for us, easing the burden of arranging the service and allows us to mainly focus on our grieving. The staffs were very much compassionate, with out their helps we would be so lost. Then Westmount Funeral Chapel once again assist in my husband's funeral. With out the staffs great compassion and care, I don't think I would have been able to keep it together. Like my mom's service, everything was thought out for me. Allowing me some ease in grieving. The staff at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre consistently goes above and beyond to make families and loved ones feel at ease during what can be, the most stressful and upsetting time in their lives. Our family first used their services in January 2018 and again in December 2019. Sheldon and the staff made sure everything ran smoothly and were incredibly accommodating throughout the entire funeral process. They were informed about our customs and ensured that every detail was taken care of and our needs were met. We never had to worry and our experience surpassed any expectations we had. The staff's, and especially Sheldon's, kindness, compassion, and willingness to go above and beyond eased the stress and worry while making arrangements during a difficult time.

WOW. I'm shocked at the ridiculous reviews that have been posted. They really don't have any control about the prices. You need to do some research. The average cost is about $4000. My family and I have been to this particular funeral home several times through out the last 30 years and have always had caring and compassionate employees looking after us. Yes it can be expensive, but when you are asking for them to provide a service to you, it can add up. The more bells and whistles you want the more it obviously cost. Just like any place, they just want to make sure that they get paid for their services rendered. And they are up front with all the figures. To the wonderful staff. I researched funeral homes on behalf of my mother and sister. Westmont Memorial was the 4th place I happened to find. We have never been through this process before so it was very important that we found the right place. We had specific requirements and needed a home that would understand. I spoke with Jennifer at first and when I called back for a follow up I spoke with Pamela. Between the two ladies, I felt convinced this was the right place. My Mom was comfortable with the information about Westmount Memorial and set up a meeting with the funeral home. I wasn't there for the meeting, but it was a apparent from the report I received from my mother that this place was the right choice. Kyle was excellent in handling the situation delicately. He did an excellent job in showing compassion and care. The funeral home was accommodating and ensured the family's wishes were executed as requested. This is an extremely sad occasion as we all know but having the kind of support provided by the team of people here took some of the pressure off. I was very impressed with the way things were handled and how my family was treated through this difficult time. I would most definitely recommend this funeral home.

It’s can be sad or unsettling to make your funeral arrangement prior to your passing. My mom and I went to do her pre-arranged funeral. I must say I thought, oh boy, this is going to be hard. Instead we found Marysa there to greet us she opened the door. She had a smile on her face and introduced herself, then took us to a private room. She instantly listened to my mom’s requests of how she wanted her celebration of life to be. Marysa, (believe it or not) made us feel so comfortable and we even had a few good laughs. We didn’t feel sad, we felt like we were being proactive in doing something that actually should be done. When you have someone pass, you want to mourn, not go crazy looking for what you think the loved one would have wanted. It‘a nice to know my mom had choices and I was there to share it with her. We don’t have to think, I hope she would have liked this memorial we gave her, she choose it. If this is something you are thinking of doing Westmount Funeral Home has very dedicated and professional staff who I know really cares. I’ve gone there for my dad, my husband and many others (sad to say) funeral but never for a pre-arranged funeral. We will definitely be doing this to relieve the stress on our children! All of the People at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre were very professional, very compassionate, and vey friendly and helpful during a difficult time. They helped us put together an excellent service during a pandemic with a professional online streaming of the service so that many people could attend virtually. And the event was recorded so that those that could not attend on the day of the event were still able to view it at a later date. This also allows for it to remain accessible for all of us to go back and visit the ceremony again at anytime. I did receive some comments that the lighting could have been a bit brighter for the online streaming. This might be hard to get an acceptable balance between bright lights for the streaming and comfort lighting for those attending in person. They also respected our time needed at each stage of the process and we never felt rushed at all. The Funeral Home is beautiful and spacious with lots of parking and located right in the City of Kitchener. I would recommend Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre as they made this difficult time so much easier. Thank you Jennifer and Laura and Kyle and others whose names I cannot remember. Laura and Kyle were amazing! They made dealing with my dad's death and cremation so much easier and made me feel so comfortable. They were very sympathetic and understanding. Allowed me to take as much time as I needed to make decisions. I highly recommend Westmount Memorial if you need to make funeral arrangements. Laura walked me through writing an obituary and handling all my questions about urns, keepsakes and how everything works. She never made me feel rushed or that I needed to do more. - 'free' filming and airing on FB of the ceremony was done by putting a cell phone onto a music stand with a rubber band. It cut out during the service and the only reason we have the whole service is because one of our family also set up an actual camera to film, which we were able to send out later. After so many months of Covid, surely Westmount could have invested in some proper webcam equipment? - no leaflets with a photo, a verse, an obituary, such as is always provided by other funeral homes. - no photos on a DVD running during the visitation time Minuses: - no thank you cards with photo for us to use later. - the staff on that morning seemed quite uncertain. Did not invite us to pay our final respects before closing the coffin. We had to stop them as they were closing the coffin and ask if we could please come up one more time. - at the cemetery, we had to ask them to have the coffin lowered into the grave. They went to get cemetery staff to do it, but it seemed as if they hadn't intended to do this. Very different from many other funerals we have recently attended, where this was definitely part of the ceremony, and done in a respectful way, not needing to wait for staff etc. Pluses: + Since we were not able to have some prepaid items, such as several limousines, due to COVID, Westmount gave us a substantial refund, without being asked.

Thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Westmount for the great care given when my aunt passed. I'm rather appalled at a few of the comments on here. Why punish the wonderful hard working staff on here when the pricing is beyond their control. It is a corporation and rules to follow. Do you go grocery shopping and tell the cashier you'll make weekly payments or you'll come back in a week? No you do not. Its obviously apparent that your greatest concern is money.
