I was shocked and disappointed to see a recent review on here written by my niece about my father’s funeral. My sister and I made all arrangements for the funeral, and my niece was not included in that planning. I was very happy with the services provided by Redlin funeral home from the time shortly after my father’s passing when Mandy met me at the hospital, to the final services they provided. I found them to be caring and professional throughout, and they honored every one of my requests. If my sister or I had any questions or concerns, I am sure the Redlin staff would have been happy to address and take care of them.
I need to correct some misinformation. First, my father was one of eleven siblings and after his passing, my aunt was the only surviving sibling. She had expressed her hope that at the end of my father’s visitation, after the other visitors had left, she would get the opportunity to say goodbye to her brother alone. In an effort to help with that request, after the scheduled visitation time was over, the nice folks at Redlin gently reminded the other visitors that the visitation would be ending. I appreciated their efforts and hope it was helpful for my aunt.
Second, I would like to make it clear that the Redlin staff did not ask us to be paid for cleaning up the mess left by the young kids. I insisted on the payment after I saw the room and was embarrassed by the mess.
Third, it is military protocol that one flag is presented to a family member in honor of a person’s military service, and I agreed to allow my sister to be presented with that flag. That decision was made between my sister and myself, and my niece was not part of that or any other arrangements.
Fourth, my father did not have a casket spray which would have accompanied his casket to the cemetery because he had a flag draped on his casket. I am sure that if my sister or I had requested that a floral arrangement also be taken to the cemetery, the folks at Redlin would have been happy to do that.
Attacking the reputation of a business is a serious thing, and I hope I have been able to reverse any damage that was done by that inappropriate and inaccurate review. It definitely made this difficult time worse for me and for my family. The people at Redlin funeral home have only helped make things better. They were comforting and professional and went above and beyond to help us out.
