A VERY UNPLEASANT experience and very unprofessional. I stopped by The Alexander Funeral Home to view my uncle. They had told me they packed his body up and was already at the church. That was a lie. The body was outside in the hearse packed up early. The start time is noon for the viewing at the church. It was 10:20 am when I stopped by to look at him. By the way the church is 5 minutes away from where the funeral is going to be. I’m still highly upset and still grieving.

I just wanted to say that I have thankfully never had to use this places services personally. But this place, the owners, the managers, and the staff are so great! My tires blew out and thankfully I was able to make it into their parking lot. I couldn't get back to get my car fixed until days later. Even though they had business over those days they never called about it and were super understanding and wonderfully sweet when I went to get some tires on. One of the people that was closing up said "we understand, everyone needs a car." The understanding that this place has for people who are going through anything is astounding! I highly recommend it just for this reason alone! Thank you so much for being a wonderful establishment and such understanding people! You have no idea how much that meant to me. I wish all the best! You guys are great!

My husband passed away from COVID on February 28th. As he had a pre-need, it was established that he wanted Alexander to handle the arrangements, not only because of their legacy of service, but they understood that he wanted the Masonic Rites preformed at his visitation. They handled all of my requests, including moving heaven and earth to schedule an early internment at Salisbury National Cemetery, as burial scheduling is usually two weeks or more due to COVID. I cannot begin to thank them for a service well done. I can recommend them when you need a steady hand during your time of berevement. And their follow-up to make sure that you are okay makes them my funeral home of choice.

I am giving Alexander FH 2 stars only because of the beautiful chapel that they have. It is by far no comparison to a few FH chapels around the area. Now let’s get into this review: I was present during the planning of a dear family member at Alexander at the end of 2020. There were a few individuals especially the GM who should not work with the living at all. I would strongly suggest that the owners reevaluate their staff to see if their service to the family and their purpose align with why they are in this line of business. From our initial meeting with the GM it seemed as if SHE had no idea what she was doing from working the computer to completing the paperwork for the funeral. She appeared to be confused and kept leaving for long periods of time. Things were so bad that we asked another employee to assist us with making arrangements. The only reason why we continue with Alexander is because MOST FH charge to pick up a body from another funeral home that has already been embalmed. We were told that the FH would contact the insurance company and set things up. Which never happened we spent 2 days on the phone working that part out. We requested a police escort from the FH to the cemetery that we signed off on which never happened. We asked that a bright colored lipstick be removed prior to the viewing that never happened. The entire experience was unbelievable given the FH are supposed to be a ray of light for families during a time of death. Everyone in Alexander excluding the receptionist should either be working with the dead or not in the funeral home business. I’m going to end with this... the GM messed up with some very important paperwork and is expecting the family to do the job that was her responsibility and unfortunately it’s not going to happen they’ve already done more than enough.

Could not have picked a better funeral home in my families time of bereavement. Mr. Witherspoon and staff were very attentive to my families needs. Every detail was covered with care. Wouldn’t recommend anyone else. Job well done.

THIS IS THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, INCONSIDERATE, UNCOMPASSIONATE FUNERAL SERVICE EVER! THE STAFF IS RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL! MY FAMILY WAS TREATED VERY POORLY. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS "business" TO ANYONE. PLEASE TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES ELSEWHERE!

Ms. Alexander was rude and found it to be a chore to look up a file from 2008. I hung up after she asked me "what would be the reason" after fully stating the reason. Like maybe if I'm rude and deflective, he will retract his request. After I hung up, she called and was promptly sent to voicemail where she explained she can't look it up because the system was down. You don't think this could have been stated upfront? This funeral home needs to understand people are grieving and may be on edge. People are calling for help, not sarcasm not to be told you can't help.

They did a great job with handling my brothers remains. Only thing is that he had very noticeable specks of hair on his face and ears from when his face hair was trimmed. Other than that he looked good and my family was pleased

So far horrible experience, very rude and unprofessional staff especially the women full of lies and games, I'll never use them again, my hadn't been gone a full hour and the staff were calling firing questions at me yelling and being extremely rude and inappropriate, kept changing and paperwork and playing games.

This has been the worst experience ever, working with Alexander Funeral Home. My brother passed away more than 2 months ago and, due to incompetence and slowness at their office, it took me 7 weeks to get his death certificate. And when I got it, they had submitted incorrect information! I dealt with two funeral homes thru this process, Alexander was responsible for the minimal - embalming, transport to another state for burial, and death certificate. I came to them within 2 days of his passing and paid them in full on that same day. First, (this part may be sensitive to those who have recently lost a loved one) they transported him in a container too small so his head was pressed against the top and his head was flattened somewhat when he was laid in his casket for final viewing. No one asked me his height (he was 6’3) or gave me an option of a larger air tray. Second, it took them 7 weeks to get a death certificate!! SEVEN WEEKS! I couldn’t do anything with my brothers insurance and had to pay everything out of pocket while I received nothing but excuses and blame passing (to the doctors office, the courier, whomever!) from Alexander. Third, when I got the copies of the death certificate that I paid $65 for, the information on them had been wrongly submitted by Alexander. My address as his next of kin was WRONG as well as my brothers place of birth. Fourth, for court documentation I need a copy of the bill that says the balance was paid, which it was 2 months ago when I started this process. Why didn’t the bill they gave me say paid? I called this morning to get an updated/final copy with the words PAID on it and I spoke with a woman named Ms. Barringer, she was rude and unaccommodating. She insisted that the one person who could edit my bill was “gone” and refused to give me a time frame on when I could expect to hear back. After explaining to her all I had dealt with from her place of business she still refused to at least tell me when i could come pick up a piece of paper that should have been given to me at the time of service. The bill that I signed doesn’t have the word PAID on it. Unfortunately my mind was in another place at the time to be so meticulous, I had a colorful “receipt” but nothing with the words PAID IN FULL or any acceptable variation. Alexander has been unprofessional, uncourteous, unaccommodating, unaccountable, and an overall horrible experience.

My mom and I wanted to prepare for her funeral arrangements, so we met with the folks at Alexander Funeral home. Everyone was so helpful and kind, we made all the arrangements and on the day my mom passed away the funeral home sent someone to get her body. He was very pleasant and gave us time to say our last goodbye. The professionalism of all the staff was beyond attentive. I was very pleased with everything. In our time of bereavement we encountered an issue with his death certificate and after going to the funeral home on two different occasions to rectify the situation a young lady by the name of Monica took charge and handled everything very graciously and expeditiously. Alexander funeral home is a good funeral home you just have to make sure that you read everything carefully and that you understand what you're choosing for your love one. They work hard and they try hard to please you in every way. When you loose someone you're into your feelings and emotions that's a trying time for both parties. They do good work your love one looks like their self. I would recommend them for sure.
