I lost my older brother suddenly earlier during the summer, he was 28. I'm only 24, so you can imagine I had no clue where to begin planning his funeral as it was not just the most difficult time of my life, but I really didn't know where to start.
So I drove around Vancouver, walking into different funeral homes, all the directors cared more about costs, and assumed I wasn't able to afford their services. The resoning, I'm not sure, maybe because of my age?None of them really guided me through my options and I felt completely lost.
My bestfriend recommended me to go to Kearney's in New West. Once I walked in, there was this feeling of comfort and peace. I asked the receptionist if I could speak with someone for a consultation, right away she directed me to Mike. He was so experienced and graciously walked me through the funeral process and discussed in detail what my options were. Not to mention the prices were more affordable.
I knew once I left this place was perfect. I called back a few days later and was directed to Steven Colon, another director. The receptionist asked if that was alright to switch directors, I knew it wouldn't be an issue because it just seemed all the staff were great.
And I was right! Steven again is very experienced, and he was very patient and never made me feel uncomfortable or rushed into making any decisions. Even though hes been in the business for 20 + years he has such a kind heart and very compassionate. He truly guided me and was by my side from the beginning from making decisions to the end of the service.
I went to 3 different places in Vancouver, not only were the prices quite high, but the staff didn't seem to care much of the situation I was going through. I would recommend Kearney's in a heartbeat!
