Went to visit my grandparents today. Found fresh tire tracks that went right over their stone. The tracks led to a fresh gravesite that still had the astroturf surrounding the site. Tracks were obviously made by employees. Very careless. The urn is also gone, but has been gone for some time.

Absolutely horrible experience. Hidden costs throughout the entire process. When you sit down for the first consultation about services, it’s almost as bad as sitting down trying to buy a used car. The amount of upselling and forcing “extras” on you after you’ve told them multiple times you don’t want it is outrageous. You just lost a loved one, can barely see through the tears, and their employees will sit across the table and try to convince you to get all the bells and whistles. They also have multiple departments that don’t communicate so one person never knows entirely what’s happening with the funeral of your loved one. At one point through the process had one of their employees tell us “it’s not their job” to know about the funeral and that I’d have to speak to someone else if I wanted more info. Be careful when you make a payment. Get EVERYTHING in writing. We made a large payment and were told that that’s it and there is nothing more owing. Two days later we receive a phone call from “one of the other department” telling us we owe more money. We pay that. A few weeks later we get another phone call from the first department telling us we owe more money. When questioned them we are told that “you didn’t owe more AT THE TIME. Always hidden charges and fees. Customer beware. Once you start the process with them they know you can’t really shop around so they will squeeze you for every last penny they can.

I cannot thank Mount Lawn Funeral home enough for the lovely service they organized for my dear Grandmother. Sarah especially went above and beyond in the planning process, ensuring the obituary, flowers and casket were to our liking. The makeup artist made my grandmother look radiant, one of the best jobs I’ve ever seen. I appreciated the amount of chairs they had set up and the constant supply of water in the room. I would highly recommend Mount Lawn to anyone seeking a funeral home in the Whitby/Oshawa area. Thanks Again.

Having been reluctant based on previous reviews, Mount Lawn Funeral Home exceeded our expectations when the family's matriarch, my Grandmothe, passed away. The staff were extremely respectful and professional to our family during this difficult time. In addition, they presented my Grandmother beautifully which made the process of saying goodbye a little bit easier. We had another death in the family that preceded hers and we used another funeral home in the area and were quite disappointed overall. We are very happy we choose Mount Lawn and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a funeral home.

My daughter passed away on January 27th 2016 and still to this day she doesn't have her grave stone! I have been calling Michael for almost 2 years trying to get answers and he has not phoned me back, not even once. It is terrible enough having to deal with the death of a child and to add on to that, they are not honering their word! It is disrespectful to my daughter Arianna. I am tired of fighting for something that is paid for!!

Generally satisfied with the service. However, the obituary was not updated though online though I came into the funeral home to update the obituary with Sarah. Some changes were made but not all.

They have done an amazing job with the burial of both my grandmas, my grandpa and uncle. Always an absolute beautiful place. Lawn is always cut, plants are taken care of and the plots of my family are always taken care of. It’s a nice, quiet and soothing place to be when visiting your loved ones.

I used mount lawn funeral home to say good bye to my mom I can say I was very happy with their work they did a Wonderful job on my mother they we classy very compassionate and were there for every thing we needed. The whole service was fantastic we used a different funeral in November for my brother and we we not happy so we tried mount lawn omg what a difference I’m so glad I used them I would defently recommend to anyone I give them 5 out of 5

Worst service provided for a Hindu Religious service. Staff showed no sympathy, talked rudely to our family members, no respect was given during our Friday service. The Men(staff) acted unprofessional, needs to get educated on different types of cultural ceremonies. Many of us wanted to address our concerns to the rube and obnoxious staff but given it was a sad time for us we remain humble and respectful. I have never witness something so disrespectful. I hated the rolling eyes, stares, shaking heads, rube comments, angry and aggressive tones. Please if you have a Hindu ceremony please please look else where. We are a very simple family and did not ask for much. Do not go through the final moments with your deceased in horror.

Very rude and unprofessional, no respect for culture and respect for a hindu service. Comments like "our services are much simpler" was very uncalled for. There is alot more to explain and this establishment will definitely be getting a phone call from my self.

It is one of the best funeral homes they have in the Durham region. The service is exceptionally wonderful. The staff is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend this place for a final resting place. God bless the staff at Mount Lawn. I'm a little disheartened, it's been over 8 months that I've been waiting for a head stone to be placed on my loved one and the waiting is way too long for unknown reasons. Family members visit the site and cant find the spot. Looks bare and empty ????????????

I was very disappointed in Mount Lawn for my grandfather's funeral. Because of COVID-19, very few people could attend the service in person and many family members had to watch a streaming version of the service. First of all, the audio was horrible and even when I had my laptop turned up to the maximum sound, I couldn't hear the service. Secondly, the video cut out about 10 minutes in and therefore I missed the majority of the service. It made a very difficult day much worse. There was supposed to be a recording of the service for us all to have as a memento, but that was never provided. I also heard from family members at the service in person that it was difficult to hear. You would think after a full year of COVID, they would have the streaming service option figured out. They didn't even offer my grandmother any reduction in price, despite all of these problems. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

We used Mount Lawn for my grandmother and they did an amazing job from start to finish. Don't go solely based on the negative reviews you see here since often times those with bad experiences are the only ones to review. We are glad we gave them a chance. They exceeded our expectations. They were professional and eased some of our stress during this difficult time.

Unbelievable experience. When I told Lynn we had decided to scatter my mother's cremated remains she exclaimed "yikes, you know you can't just throw her ashes in the bushes." If the living are treated with such disrespect I can't imagine how they treat the dead. We used Barnes Funeral Home on Thickson Road. There we were treated with the utmost respect and dignity my family and more importantly my mother deserve.
