At the end of April, my mother’s funeral was held in this funeral parlour. Because I had bought a cemetery here before, I felt it was convenient to do it in this place. After the funeral was completed, I buried it directly. I started it in Shijiabao more than ten years ago. At that time, I was looking for a Chinese staff member. They knew Chinese traditions and culture, so it’s very convenient for you to worry about it and help you arrange it properly. Let’s go ahead and check the situation. A young man received us and told us specifically that there is a Chinese sales representative to take care of us. On the second day I called him to leave a comment. After a while, he called back to show the number. At another funeral home ten kilometers away, I can understand working in several places at the same time. I asked him if there were any physical coffins on the scene. We can take a look. He replied'YES','I can show you some pictures', but actually there is none. Waiting for that day, I called to contact him to discuss the details. Later, the company called me back and said that a lady will receive us. After meeting at the funeral home, she received us in a very calm and professional manner. Because of the new crown virus, There were only 10 people at the funeral. She asked if I could find 6 people to carry the coffin. I think it should be okay. I asked her if there was anyone at the scene who could help. The answer was that two or three people could help. After searching, I contacted my relatives and friends and found out that it is very difficult for 10 people including 7 men to have me. Talking about service items, she introduced a few packages, but she didn’t really have any choices. I looked at the contents. Several of them are irrelevant to us. Especially, the restriction of the new crown virus can only come to 10 people. Drinking can only be a simple ritual. I asked her if she could drop some items. She firmly said that we would not bargain. I said that I was not bargaining with you, but I felt that some items were unnecessary. Can be reduced, and barely reduced me to two insignificant small projects. I asked him to explain to me what these services include? She finally told me impatiently that these items were installed by them casually, and the funeral parlor was to collect so much money, so only the deposit was paid. After two days, I asked her to see the details of the layout of the auditorium. She felt that she was very busy and did not want to spend too much time with us. I proposed that there were not enough people to carry the coffin. Can they help the two people? She immediately refused. I said you didn’t have anybody, you just went outside and asked for money. I said you promised to have two or three people to help... Later, I got angry and said, I want to cancel your service. She even has 0.1 seconds. Did not hesitate, and immediately said: ok, go to the office, I will prepare for you to sign. Now you can see, she does not care about us at all, she does not care about our business, the reputation of this funeral home, 30 years of experience It is indeed too professional. In the end, she reluctantly agreed to find two people to help. In fact, there were several men's staff on the scene, all of whom were very helpful. I gave them a big thank you package. The Chinese broker had never appeared, saying that it was because of the virus and there was no phone call. Fortunately, we have some experience, even if it is. (Original) if you have a cemetery in this location, Don't use the funeral service here, The rep was very rude, Especially in this covid 19 situation, Other people say they're unprofessional, But I say they are TOO professional, They don't care about your business, They don't care about you, because I believe that the most reps that work at this location are contracting from a different funeral home. 4月底在这个殡仪馆办了母亲的葬礼, 因以前就已在这儿买了墓地，所以觉得就在这个地方办方便，殡仪完成就直接下葬。 十几年前在世家堡办过，当时是找的华人工作人员， 他们懂得中国的传统及文化，所以很方便你都不需要操心，帮你安排得妥妥当当。我们提前先去了解一下情况，一个年轻人接待了我们，专门告诉我们有华人的营业代表来照顾我们， 第2天我又打电话找他留了言，一会儿他打电话回来显示的号码是几十公里外的另外一个殡仪馆， 同时在几个地方上班我能理解。 我问他现场有没有实体棺材我们可以看一下， 他回答说'YES'，'我可以给你看些图片', 实际上是没有。 等到了那一天，我打电话去联系他约谈细节， 后来公司给我回电话说一个女士将会接待我们， 在殡仪馆见面后，她态度平淡非常专业的接待了我们， 因为新冠病毒的原因，葬礼只能来10个人, 她问我能不能找到6个人抬棺， 我想应该可以吧，我就问她现场有没有人能够帮忙，回答说可以有两三个人帮一下， 那我说我尽量去找， 过后联系亲戚朋友才发现，10个人里面包括我要有7个男的是非常困难的。谈到服务项目，她介绍了几个套餐， 其实没有什么选择，我看了下包括内容，好几个都跟我们都没关系， 特别是新冠病毒的限制， 只能来10个人，还不能有吃的喝的，只能是一个简单的仪式， 我就问她能不能够减掉一些项目，她很坚决的说我们不讲价， 我说我不是跟你讲价，只是觉得有些项目不需要的，能不能够减掉， 勉强给我减了两个无关紧要的小项目， 我提出来让他给我解释一下这些服务都包括什么内容？她最后很不耐烦的告诉我，这些项目都是他们随便安上去的，殡仪馆就是要收这么多钱，这样就只有交了定金。过两天又约她去看礼堂的布置细节， 感觉她是很忙，不愿意跟我们花太多时间， 我提出抬棺的人不够，能不能让两个人帮下忙，她马上一口拒绝， 说你自己没有人，只有到外面去花钱请人， 我说你当时答应可以有两三个人来帮忙的...., 后来我赌气说，我想取消你们的服务， 她连0.1秒钟的犹豫都没有，马上说: ok，到办公室去，我给你准备签字. 这下你就看得出来了，她根本不在乎我们，根本不在乎我们的生意，不在乎这个殡仪馆的声誉， 30年的经验的确是太专业了。最后她勉强答应找两个人来帮忙，其实现场有好几个男士工作人员，都很热心的帮了忙，我都给了他们大感谢封包。华人经纪一直不露面，说是因为病毒，也没有电话来。幸好我们有些经验，也就算了。 唯一值得表扬的就是殡仪馆寄来了各个政府部门的表格通知等，信封地址邮票都很清楚。

Do not give this place your business. Quick to take our money, slow to deliver results. Absolutely disappointed in the service of one of their reps. Service was held in March 2018 and 10 months later, the tombstone hasn't been completed yet. Apparently they switched tombstone companies, hence the delay. We would’ve understood if someone told us this. No follow-up with us though, and couldn't take responsibility for it when I called. Delayed my family paying respects to the deceased. I originally gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the rep was helpful during the planning of the service. However, as it's January 2019 now and we still haven't received any information regarding this disgusting issue, this review is deserving of less than 1 star.

Sadly, I've been Highland Hills Funeral Home too many times to count. Coming here brings a mixture of emotions. There's a sadness because it usually means that someone I know has passed. There is also some joy, remembering good times and seeing friends and family members of the deceased. Sometimes, because of our busy lives, it's the only way we meet these days. One thing that's consistent is the professionalism of the staff. They are always friendly and courteous, greeting and directing guests, and most importantly treating grieving families with respect and compassion. We lost our grandfather suddenly a few weeks. It was such an extremely difficult time, we didn't know what to do. Fortunately we had Tiffany Lau, our cemetery director, who guided us with knowledge, kindness and empathy. I would like to wholeheartedly thank her for all that she did for us. We were VERY pleased with the service we received from Highland Hills Funeral Home. Highly recommended.

I would give zero stars if I could. My family and I had a terrible experience with Venus, Pre-Planning Director. At the beginning of the first funeral planning meeting with Venus, she incorrectly assumed my aunt was my late mother and referred to my aunt as my father's wife. She didn't even know that the deceased was my mom. Clearly she didn't care to review her client prior to sitting down with us. This was very upsetting. Next was the tombstone design meeting, which my dad directly scheduled with Venus. It was stressful enough trying to sort this out during the pandemic. We arrived a little before 10:30am for the meeting and were informed that Venus has not arrived yet. We ended up waiting more than 1 hour. She made no attempt to update us regarding her whereabouts. My dad had to call her to remind her about this meeting. She finally arrived closer to 11:45am, and only nonchalantly apologized. She handed us a binder of sheets with the designs. I asked if she had a soft copy or if she could photocopy some of the designs for us, as there were over 100 pages of designs. Obviously we were feeling overwhelmed, as we had to pick something appropriate and fitting for my mom and wanted to mull it over at home. She then started to rush us, and said "most people come in here and decide on design within 20min". I was shocked at her insensitivity. The last straw was the burial service. My family gathered together at the burial site and noticed that my mom's plaque had the the wrong year printed. My mom passed away in 2019 and they put 2020. We were shocked that they made such a big mistake. Venus then had the audacity to say "If you don't mind, we can just bury it as is". I had to respond with "are you kidding me?" Not only did we pay for this plaque but we expected it to be done right. She then said "how about we remove it and bury without it". I couldn't believe my ears. My grandparents and other family members were all standing in the rain waiting. We actually had to leave the burial site and go back indoors to wait and see if they could fix the plaque. Thankfully, the plaque was reprinted after a few hours of waiting and we proceeded with the burial service. Venus only blamed "her colleague" for the mistake. Funny because she was responsible for writing down the details. This entire experience has been a total nightmare. Planning a funeral for a loved one is depressing enough. You would assume the funeral home would make it easier for you. The lack of professionalism and compassion was appalling. I would never recommend this place. Please take your money elsewhere. You'll save yourself a lot of grief.

The most difficult time when someone you love passed away. That time I didn't know what to do, I wasn't able to make any decision. Janice Chan, cemetery's representative, was the 1st who helped me to organize funeral ceremony. It was very nice. They provide 2 men to help to keep casket. 1 year is passed and during that period of time I had several requests to fix lantern, to put layer of grass and Janice respond immediately in very polite form. All problems were done in short period of time. My parents bought monument before they passed away and thank them a lot, they thought about me, I didn't have to buy it. This is our first time arranging a funeral didn't know what to do and expect. Janice was super professional she walk us through everything step by step told us what to buy for chinese tradition funeral. She was not pushy in up selling us and respect our decision of what we don't want from the traditional. She was there with us from the minute we walk into the cemetery to choose the sight, accompanied us for the funeral service and burial ceremony. I don't think funeral service will be smooth as it went without her. The price for whole service was reasonable at this cemetery. Would definitely recommend this place Janice Chen.

Often see rubbish and cigarette butts in the area surrounding the grave. Ground remains muddy and grass unlaid where they are supposed to be. Waiting for monuments to be erected more than 8 months after burial and prompt payment in full. Staff are indifferent to our concerns.I now think a smaller would have better our family. I am rather distressed we may have to go on like this for years to come. I noticed 50 five-star reviews all placed around 16 Dec-2020 all sounding the same. Two of them are practically identical, word for word.

Mixed review. My father was cremated here. The prices are excellent. The negatives are that they got my father's name wrong on the box for his ashes. This is a huge disrespect in our culture to the deceased. Second, the urns weren't even ordered over a few days which caused a longer delay. I ended up cancelling all urns and ordering by express from the united States. There were a few other errors too. The saving grace was Katie and Mike. They fixed the problem and we're very supportive. Melody dressed my deceased father and she was amazing and I will never forget that.

Re: Highland Hills Cemetery rules on artificial flowers. I object against the new rules of "Artificial flowers on graves are not allowed". The artificial flowers are in the marble vases, not an obstacle. However, you allow to put wreaths with metal stand on the graves which has to order from you. May I know what is the reason you set the rule? You allow fresh flowers on the graves but not many people can come to change fresh flowers every couple days! Please review and remove the rule.
