Not happy with the service provided by Mike going over the funeral arrangements. First of all he presents us with a bill of over $12,000. My mother's arrangements were all prepaid, and as there were only a few immediate family members coming, we did not rent a room, flowers or any extras. While going through all the costs with Mike, he refused to take the cremation costs off of the bill, even after I showed him that it was prepaid. Having just gone through this all for my step-father I knew what was going on. They also charged us $15.00 for each death certificate, where there was no cost last year. I spoke to two other people in Winnipeg who recently lost family members, and they were not charged for the death certificates. I did not know the final costs until the day of the funeral, and the cremation cost was deducted, however not happy paying $4,625.00 for a pre-paid funeral for all the "necessary costs". They really take every penny they can from you. I would not recommend them at all. My friend in Stonewall paid less than half of what I did, and got a lot more services a few weeks earlier.

My parents pre-arranged their funerals here. They were very well organized and conducted my mother's funeral with dignity and respect. The also gave us a package to guide us through all the processes you have to navigate when someone dies. I heartily recommend them.

I live in Montreal. A couple of months before travelling to Winnipeg this December (2021) to get married, I phoned Chapel Lawn to ask them how I could locate my parents graves in the snow ? (Paying tribute to them was of particular significant to my fiance, who is from another culture.) I was told not to worry, that although they did not provide shovelling services, they could place a flag slightly in advance of my arrival, to indicate the location of my parents' graves. Four days before leaving Montreal, I phoned again to confirm which day I was coming, I spoke with someone else, who now contradicted the earlier information given by saying that Chapel Lawn did NOT provide locator flags. She promised instead to leave a map at the front desk the morning I was to arrive, and as well, to have a maintenance man available to assist me in removing snow etc. This seemed like an adequate approach. When we arrived at the cemetary four days later however, the receptionist on duty curtly directed me to a waiting room. After several minutes of waiting, a man showed up with a laptop and began asking questions that clearly indicated he not only didn't know my name, he didn't know what I wanted. Finally, I was able to make the situation clear to him, and he disappeared to get the map. When he gave it to me, he informed that in fact there was no maintenance man available after all. The "map" was frustratingly vague, and I was forced to take the shovel I'd brought and guess at where to dig. After uncovering five graves, none of which belonged to my parents, I returned to the front desk to complain. Let's just say that the receptionist was not exactly empathetic. Finally, the man who'd already served us previously volunteered to return to the site and locate the graves. So we went - but he couldn't find them. My fiance was in tears by this point, and I was furious. I find it disgraceful that any cemetary can be this incompetent with such a matter, particularly after promising well in advance to provide information and support. Next to not finding my parents' graves, it was the front desk staff's lack of empathy for my situation that irritated the most ; they clearly had little interest in my concerns. Surely any such enterprise should offer better customer service than what I received ? Chapel Lawn should be ashamed.

A few years ago my dad passed away suddenly. From what I had heard about Chapel Lawn there was no question we would call them first. I am so glad we did. From the start, Naomi was awesome and helped plan the celebration of my dad's life down the finest detail. Even requests like having some dirt by the grave to spread on the casket, and the specific Mennonite-style luncheon that we wanted to hold were all handled easily. The day of the funeral came and everything went smoothly and we were able to put my dad to rest under the best care I could have imagined. I am very pleased with our choice for my dad's care and celebration and I hope more people choose Chapel Lawn to care for and celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

I lost my husband on January 17th 2022. My soul mate. I knew losing him was one of the most hardest thing that could ever happen to me. Making arrangements for his funeral was scarry I wanted to make sure that his last day on earth was perfect. As he is a perfectionist. I didn't expect the funeral home to understand that. I went to chapel lawn because my whole family has prepaid plots there and expect very little to my satisfaction. We started planning with Cara and she was very helpful and respectful of my every instructions. They all kept in contact with me to assure me of the progress from the cadles to the flowers right down to the last music to be played. Cara went above and beyond her role to make sure that the day went perfectly as I specified. The understanding and the hard work they put on was so perfect for my husband's last day. At the end of my darkest day Cara made us feel that my husband is the most important clients and she did it with her professionalism her understanding and respect for what my husband's friends and family are going through. Through what was to be the worst day of my life she made my husband's funeral one of the few things I did not need to worry about. I don't normally do reviews as I find 99% of the time they will surely be disappointing. I felt this is the one and most likely the only time I will ever do one. For they deserve my heart felt gratitude. I was not just the client we were treated like they were a part of our family and made sure that this day will be what I had hoped it to be. Perfect in every way. Again please accept my gratitude and know that you will be the only place we will go to. I pray not any time soon but at least I know it will be done perfectly. I had an appt with the manager of Chapel Lawn (Hubert) and when I got there he ended up sending out his receptionist to tell me that the property manger had been away for a week so he did not have any information for me!! I just wanted to know if there were openings in a garden and the cost of one of their cremation products.. I did not get anything!! They could have called me or emailed me to reschedule.. but nothing.. still not replied to me with any information.. very unprofessional and poor customer service!!

Excellent from start to finish. Very helpful and they listened to what we wanted for my fathers internment. My advice to anyone. Don't wait till the aging parent is gone to make arrangements. Look into in advance and you will have less surprises. It's expensive but by planning ahead it will help.

I dealt with Chapel Lawn in February for my father's funeral and interment. It was a new experience for me. I did not understand prior to this that the funeral and interment are two separate and distinct business areas. This was confusing, partially due to a stressful life event. The funeral part was handled well but I sure could have done without the upselling on the cemetery side. I was telling someone about this the other day, how it seemed so wrong when you go to deal with a prearranged burial that they try to get you to prearrange your own funeral while you are dealing with funeral arrangements for your loved one. So one one side of the table you are choosing catering and casket and the other side is trying to sell you your own burial plot. Just doesn't seem right. The funeral however was performed as discussed and agreed so I would recommend them for that. They were very helpful filling out paperwork and provided everything in the timelines they committed to.

Although I was there for very sad circumstances, the new Chapel Lawn handled the event beautifully. Lots of natural light in both the chapel and reception area really helps to mitigate the natural sadness.

I highly recommend Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery. Mom passed on Dec 21/20. Numerous years ago, we pre-planned everything with Chapel Lawn so that when their services were required, I would only have to pick up the phone. It was the best decision we could have made. They looked after everything with kindness, caring, and empathy. Their professionalism was outstanding but they also had room for lightheartedness and humour. Naomi was incredible! When I called the morning of the 21st and spoke with her, my nerves were instantly calmed. That call, the ZOOM call the next day, the first meeting in person, picking up moms remains; a difficult life event made easier (?) thanks to Naomi and her outstanding colleagues. I highly recommend Chapel Lawn. We will be making appointments in the near future to pre-plan our cremation details and will tell all our friends to, at the very least, call to talk with them about the inevitable end of life decisions that we all need to make.

Cara and staff took meticulous detail to give her the perfect funeral, she looked absolutely beautiful in the coffin, and Tiffany gave her the perfect hair cut and style.
