My father was interred there and we had a service in their main hall. Everything went great and we were treated with the utmost care and respect. It was a difficult and confusing time but Capital Funeral was there for us and especially Derek Lemelin and Nuno Sousa saw to our needs and made everything go smoothly. Our faith community has now established a relationship with Capital Funeral and they are very good at caring for the community's needs. As mentioned, our contacts there are Derek Lemelin and Nuno Sousa. They have been great and are most attentive. I think the other complaints people had may have been with one or two employees who most likely should not be in that line of work. We initially purchase our funeral and cemetary products in 2015. The experience was absolutely great. The Cemetary is gorgeous and well maintained. But were faced with challenging changes to our arrangements. Most places will give you a hard time and always ask for more money. We interred my mother's urn in August this year. It was a stressful, whirlwind time, the last thing we needed was a lot more stress doing follow ups. CFHC did a reasonable job, but they weren't pro-active; we had to follow up on almost every little detail. At first they couldn't locate my mom's file. When they did, the people we were dealing with seemed to know very little about the file, asking & repeating questions. When we said we'd like the interment to be on a Saturday, the first response was "well, there's an overtime charge for that", not "of course, we can handle that for you, we have the ability to do that" etc. When I mentioned my displeasure about that first meeting, they called my dad a few days later to offer to cover the cost of the Saturday overtime. There were problems locating the plaque for the memorial site. When they finally did "locate" it, turns out it had never been made, despite my parents placing the order back around 2011. We had to call them at least 3 times to find this out. Then when it did arrive, we had to call them a few times to get them to install the plaque as quickly as possible. About six weeks later, my dad got a bill in the mail from Arbor Memorial, the parent company of CFHC, reporting that an amount hadn't been paid, and needed to be paid immediately. I called CFHC three times to follow up, and it turned out it was the overtime bill from the interment. I asked the rep how we get rid of the amount, the response was "pay it". I reminded the rep that CFHC was going to waive the the Saturday overtime. Oh yeah, that's right, was the response. Once again, not aware of what had been agreed on and what was in the file. You'll get a reasonable product from them, but you have to stay on them, follow up with them. They won't make it easier for you during a stressful time.

There are quite a lot of paper documents etc. involved in making such a transfer, she has been patient and diligent through and through. I helped my parents purchased the cemetery and funeral services eight years ago at the Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery. Two months ago, my mother passed away outside Canada. As the services was purchased years ago, she was not the original sale representative. However, she gave her best services to help me out without earning any commission. I can't say enough about my wonderful experience working with Nicole Vallentyne on changing some already preplanned arrangements due to my second marriage. During these Covid times, we discussed the changes by phone and handled the signing of the paperwork via email. I had thought that the email aspect would be very confusing, but the signing process was very easy to follow and took only a few minutes. Nicole offered to help talk me through it, but I was able to do it myself. It is so nice to have peace of mind and know that my family will not have to deal with anything when I pass. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Nicole Vallentyne, who had a wonderful inspiration to provide members of my parish with an opportunity to shake the fear of their "final preparations." Nicole, with permission from the conscientious leaders at Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery, approached my pastor and me with a compassionate proposal to provide our congregation with non-threatening, sound and practical advice concerning pre-planning of one's funeral and estate affairs. A touchy topic and one requiring delicacy because the funeral home is not allowed to solicit clients. However, Nicole's burning desire to provide needed information and advice prompted her to contact us with the rationale behind the proposal in which she strongly believes. After a brief presentation and making herself available to parishioners, Nicole's personable presence empowered some of our members to seek her service. One of the couples who took advantage of Nicole's expertise shared with me their delight in knowing that their affairs are now taken care of. They also shared the reason for their confidence in the decision they made to trust Nicole. They cited her depth of knowledge, her wealth of practical information and advice, and her genuine graciousness demonstrated by her non-threatening and compassionate approach to handling their concerns. Especially in these difficult and trying times, it is a blessing to know their is someone taking note of the anxiety families experience when faced with unexpected funeral preparations for a loved one. Nicole and the folks at Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery endeavour to take the sting of fear out of final preparations by making the experience less daunting and more personal, whether if be for a family member or for an individual him/herself. From the beginning of my association with Nicole, to the shared experiences of members of my parish, I can truly say that I believe anyone seeking their service will be in good hands.

First of all, I have to say that our overall experience with both the funeral service and the cemetery arrangements was impeccable. My father passed away in mid March 2020 and although we were in the beginning stages of a worldwide pandemic both Susan Brown & Perry Medicoff went above and beyond to take the stress of coordinating a funeral during Covid-19 and make it seamless. The were both very empathetic and used their skills from their many years of experience to customize my fathers funeral arrangements while keeping within the current guidelines. My husband and I recently prepaid for our final resting place. Having no idea how to go about it or what was involved, we were lost but didn’t want to burden our children with task of making our final arrangements. Then we met Lina Balice and she guided us step by step through the entire process. It was much easier than we would have thought and Lina was very patient and thorough with us. She sat down with us and explained everything in detail and showed us our options for choosing our niche. We are so grateful for Lina’s patience and professionalism. We had a phone call from Mr. Logan Hedmann, Pre Planning Director at Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery, who offered us a discussion about our own funeral. We were interested to make all the arrangements ahead of time, but not necessary with Capital. Mr. Hedmann was so polite and persuading by phone that we reluctantly accepted to meet him without any engagement. When we have met Logan Hedmann in person, we were impressed by his knowledge and also by the large variety of possibilities offered by the company he represented. We knew that we would supposed to consult also other funeral homes, but we were hooked. Mr Hedmann answered our questions with confidence and dissolved all our worries. He understood our financial needs, and helped us making the burden easier. Even after a first signed contract we could change some things the way we wanted. We are in the late 50, but start to plan our final arrangements to not leave a huge burden on our loved ones during their difficult time, nowadays, things can happen suddenly unexpectedly. We are lucky to receive professional advice from Rexan Wong, she patiently explains to us what is pre-arrangement, which have Cemetery and Funeral two parts, Rexan shows us all the combinations and options, what we need to consider, even payment terms, she well explained how they work. We learned a lot in this unfamiliar area. I loss recently my mother and fortunately we had purchase both the cemetery and funeral services through Arbor Memorial. It has been one of the best decision we made. From the moment I contacted Capital Funeral Home to inform them that my mom had passed away to last details after the funeral, the staff was very professional, helpful, compassionate. Everything was done the way we asked, they went the extra mile to fulfill our wishes. Every time I contacted them not matter what day or time it was, there was someone ready to help. Unfortunately I can't give this cemetery a good review. My sister and I were at the graves of my parents and step mother today, and for the second time in the last five or so years, the wreath at the graves of my sister's and mine loved ones has been stolen. This breaks our hearts because our step mother made the wreath for our mother's grave. Maybe video cameras could be installed.
