REVIEWS OF McLean's Funeral Services Ltd IN Chilliwack

Very satisfied until now! NO EMAIL CONTACT ON WEBSITE so I will wait until tomorrow (one day to funeral) . I requested that a an obituary be posted in the Vancouver Sun , Province and Abbotsford newspaper. The ad recently appeared in the Chilliwack Progress? so went on-line to see if my request was acted on... so far it appears that my wife who taught 33 years in Abbotsford, BC had her obituary shown in both newspapers and in Chilliwack BC?. I went on-line to confirm facts and so far (my apologies if I am ranting needlessly) it appears that McLean's Funeral Services have not posted in Abbotsford and have caused me needless stress. i If I'm incorrect in my assumption I do sincerely apologize for any assumption. Mark Whyte, for Karen Whyte's (Sept 1, 2015) funeral held on Sept 12, 2015, Abbotsford BC.

We waited for 3 weeks to receive my Mom's death certificate. Finally got it yesterday (3 weeks to the day of her passing). The only excuse given for the delay was the postal strike (there has been no job action as of this writing). Picked out an urn, and was told we could come to pick up my Mom's ashes, yesterday. We phoned in the morning and left a message (we had to always track the director down - he never seemed to keep us informed throughout this whole difficult process) in regards to the death certificate and when we confirmed about the urn we were told that they are out of stock of that urn! Why weren't we informed of this prior to our pre-arranged pick up day? Why didn't he tell us last week when we chose the urn? Instead of on the day we were to pick up? We were coming from Coquitlam. After everything was said and done, we made the decision to just pick up her ashes and not have any more to do with this funeral home. He had no empathy and did not make any apologies for all of the delays we experienced with him. All he said when we came to get her ashes (and he handed them over to my sister) was "she doesn't weigh very much". How is that comforting or in any way empathetic?! Think twice before employing this funeral home. It is beyond upsetting how this all unfolded and I hope that by posting this review, I can spare others of an experience like this. It is also my hope that Mclean's will review their policies and procedures to ensure that this doesn't happen for any other families. Our loved ones deserve that respect.

NEVER use this company. We were told that they would be here within 2 hours. We called at 9:30 and were still waiting for someone to pick up my father who was lying on our living room floor 5 hours later. It was impossible to get a hold of them. The lady on the phone was VERY rude. We ended up calling another funeral home who could be there right away. This is such a hard time for us and so disrespectful. What a despicable company. Also this is NOT a competitor as per precious responses to reviews.

Stuart dealt with my sister for my brother in laws death and ashes. Once my sister reported To the Better Business Bureau and Global TV, that he had No compassion what so ever. He had the ashes for 10 days. He always made exudes about why it was taking so long Do your loved ones a Favor,Don’t Go here. I’m serious.

Unprofessional, waited for a call to let me know my dad's ashes and death certificate were ready to be picked up and it was 3 weeks before I called frustrated, his excuse was they don't make phone calls as it's a waste of their time. Who knows how long it was sitting their waiting for me, made the closing of estate process unnecessarily difficult, long and drawn out when it's already a difficult time.

Would have given 0 stars if it was allowed. They were the most incompetent people I have ever dealt with. They lie to you. Do not return calls. They have done nothing but cause needless stress to an already difficult situation. They basically left it to me to get all the information from the hospital and the coroner's office. My mother passed 15 days ago and that should have been more than sufficient time for them to get the information that I managed to get in 1 afternoon. Communication would have helped but apparently that is not their strong suit either. I understand that it was a busy time, so keep people informed rather than them having to make 50 phone calls and not get any answers.

Losing a loved one is obviously very difficult, I can't emphasize enough how great McLean's Funeral Services was to deal with. The funeral director is truly a caring compassionate individual, he guided our family so we could make the right choices for us. Throughout the whole process we never felt pressured or rushed. Stewart is the consummate professional.

Stewart your a amazing service provider 3 times cheaper than the other guys and better service than the high priced crooks up the road he don't play on loved ones conscience as other guys do and its my responsibility to get certificate from him as he had it there, plus he like any other home needs to be paid up front so to say one star is silly as any place i been to needs to be paid to do services . i would use him again as he was the best iv'e ever used and was very helpful in many ways . i cant believe the fake reviews posted in negative posts apparently they never went to the other two up the road if they did the posts on them would be minus 10 stars ! Thank you McLean's for my dads service he would have been proud of you .. you are a amazing guy at my time of need and i highly recommend you to all those who want a great service at over half the price of the crooks down the road. I wish there were more like him out there . if this site had a twenty star rating id want it to be 100 stars ! brad b chilliwack BC

Kindness, professionalism and a real human touch. They have the most reasonable rates and a very helpful and kind staff. McLeans helped me twice. First with my mum and more recently with my husband. They treated me with compassion and respect. I could not have hoped for better care or the ease of completing paperwork. McLeans are real people who understand how to help when you need them.

Do not use these services. Our loved one passed and in the first phone call after we had already prearranged everything months earlier, Stuart was just concerned if my mom was going to come in and pay that day. Once we went in the next day to pay I personally had to fill out the paperwork because after 3 tries Stuart couldn't seem to get it right. Then we were told that day (Thursday) that my dad's ashes would be ready for pick up on Monday. We show up Monday at 10:30 to a locked door (hrs are 9am open). Once in we were asked to wait and after 10 minutes Stuart came down with a file with the Death Certs. We were then told that the person that works Saturday was apparently sick and our dad was not creamated yet. We then had to come back the next day. Although he apologized for that he continued to make excuses for it and the least he could have done was call knowing we were coming in that day. Then upon returning today at 10 am again to a locked door. We called the number and Stuart said he would be down in a minute. 10 minutes later he opened the door. We entered and were asked to wait again. After a half hour he final came down. Meanwhile we could here him talking on the phone with other people. Once given the ashes while explaining things he proceeded to take another phone call in front of us. Maybe let the answering machine take it. As we were leaving we told him how dissatisfied we were and he denied any wrong doing continued make excuses. You will get no empathy here. I worked in a funeral home 20 years ago and I can tell you that never was a family treated this way. Save yourself some grief and go elsewhere.

This place is very unprofessional they would aloud a complete stranger of the street to try and claim my Brothers body with just a drivers licence as of proof of common-law....my family is grieving as this horrible place keep my brother for 3 month now and will not answer repeat phone call or emails from my lawyers. If anyone would use this uncaring funeral place is nuts. They will be dealt with by my lawyers and hopefully loose there licence .

McLean's handled the cremation for my father. He was very helpful, informative, and professional. We did some price shopping in the Fraser Valley, and found him to be very competitive. I have worked as a Funeral Director/Embalmer in the US for 15 years, and come from a family of funeral professionals. I have a pretty good reference point from which to evaluate funeral service quality and professionalism. Our family was very pleased.
