A few weeks ago my mothers health drastically went down hill, and we knew it was just a matter of time before she would pass. I used this time to visit my mom and to prepare for the inevitable. I called a couple local Funeral Homes in the Middleburg Heights area, and I liked the way April at Tomon Funeral Home on Pearl Road handled my call and answered all of my questions and concerns with dignity and respect. She did not try and "sell" me like other funeral homes, and she clearly explained the process and each and every cost involved. About 2 weeks after this initial call, my mother had passed. With one phone call to April at Tomon, everything was taken care of with ease. I must say that the actual wake and funeral went through without any glitches. I know this is cliché, but they did an excellent job making my mother look 20 years younger, and healthy, the way that most people remembered my mom when she was alive. My family and I had an excellent experience at Tomon, and I wish the same for you in your time of need. We used Tomon based on my mother's selection of them for a "pre-arranged" service. She told us of her planning for this company and we honored her directions. The actual service provided was top quality. The facility is attractive and conveniently located. We contracted for a premium level (over $10,000) funeral; only exception to standard was that we directed the use of a casket from a Trappist monastery instead of one offered by Tomon. (The higher priced wood caskets had poor quality finish and high prices.) My family felt that the overall attention provided was first rate. My opinion of the company changed from EXCELLENT to POOR-FAIR when they billed us for $600 additional charges, over and above the written quote. I wrote a professional letter questioning the extra charges; their rep justified the extra charges based on her statement that the salesman who wrote the order made mistakes. There was no indication that we had received any extra services, only a claim that the original estimate was mistaken. I questioned this politely but the rep stuck to her guns and stated that the charges were only estimates, and not firm prices. I wrote a follow-up letter protesting this, but offered payment in full to close the matter out. Thanks to my mother's financial situation we could afford this. I asked them one last time to review the billing but they cashed the check and accepted the full payment. So, my recommendation would be that Tomon will do top quality work, but won't stand behind their pricing estimates. By the way, Trappist caskets are beautiful workmanship products at more affordable pricing than the typical funeral home caskets. Do a Web search to find their site; if you want great woodwork they will deliver.

Im ashamed I have to give them even one star. They didn't put my uncle's ashes in an ern or even mention that we could have have one, they didn't have racks for our picture boards, they weren't personal, they were more rude than pleasant. The place stinks and has stained carpets and the employees don't realize where they are working is an emotional place, they are very desensitized. Horrible experience I will never recommend this home.

Gabby was the funeral director for my grandfathers service which was private. She was very attentive to my dad and aunt during the planning and service. She led our family in prayer and seemed to authentically empathize with our grief. My grandfather would have loved her.
