The team at Markey-Dermody Funeral Home (King St, Hamilton) location is by far the most exceptional team we have ever met. D'Andre was the funeral director that has helped us with the arrangements for my mom's last farewell and celebration of life. Let's just say that D'Andre was extremely professional, caring and made a very difficult process as easy as it could possibly be. From the first meeting, we knew that we wanted my mom's final farewells to be taken care of by D'Andre and the team at Markey-Dermody. We knew without a doubt that we were in good hands. Every visit, every interaction was incredible. The staff catered to our every need and were able to provide advice on every little detail. They definitely go above and beyond to make every family feel supported during such difficult times. Not to mention, we always felt at home when we were there. Nothing felt like a business transaction. Just the opposite, we felt as though we were surrounded by family, who cared and wanted nothing but the best for our family and my mom as we bid are final farewells. If anyone is ever looking for a funeral home that will make the difficult process as easy as it can, Markey-Dermody is the place. When my significant other passed away suddenly this June, I had never been involved in any way with planning a funeral before, so I was completely lost as to what needed to happen, the whens and hows. It was very overwhelming when coupled with the loss of someone so dear to me. Jenny was the person who looked after us. She and the rest of her staff exceeded all my expectations by a landslide. They walked me through step by step, helped me take care of paperwork, government forms and put in so many extra nice touches that made the memorial absolutely perfect. The celebrant spoke as if she knew the departed personally. I don't know how I could have gotten through that first week without their gentle guidance and care. Bless their hearts for what they do for people like me. They are like angels in your time of darkness.

She also didn't make us feel pressured into anything we didn't want. Everyone at the home was professional and got back to us quickly with questions we had during this time. They're very professional, helpful & don't pressure you into anything you don't want. My family & I have used their services on numerous occasions,(my step-father, step-daughter, brother uncle cousin & recently my mother) & they've never once pressured us. Even when I/we thought we'd a silly question, they were understanding & helpful. With my mom's service, it was the first time that I've seen the slide show where you could leave comments on it and the website was yours (hers), the slide show of pics., even being able to have necklace made up w/ her fingerprint on it, I'd forgotten to have one done up for my great-niece & was able to go & order 1 for her 2 weeks after.
