You may have noticed that the average score it has is very good, and it's based on a high number of scores, so we may be quite sure that the evaluation is very credible. If people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the service, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to place opinions when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Mortuary corresponds to the category of Funeral home.
We laid our sister to rest today at Ocean View along with her husband who had been interned there 30 years ago. The staff were incredibly helpful with a special mention to Jeffrey. He led us through a lovely ceremony as we placed our sister's ashes with her husband. It was lovely in every way.
Too many emails and endless details. Would not recommend.
I have been trying for a few weeks now to get an answer about putting a marker on my grandparents grave. I finally got a call from someone who said she would send me information. She sent me a page which had *nothing* to do with what I asked and has ignored subsequent emails. In short, this is such a big business, they don't want my business. I would recommend any other place than this one but I suspect they have some major monopoly.
We have four family members buried at Ocean view so we have worked with them before and been quite satisfied. However, we were very disappointed with the service we received this time. Our advisor was disorganized, took too long to fill out the paperwork and then ended up ordering a headstone that didn't exist. We were also overcharged. His replacement seemed quite professional at first and we did get a refund but she has ignored my two emails regarding the status of my mother's headstone. We don't know if it is on the way or.....It is now going on 4 months. No one should have to go through this after the death of a loved one. P Sullivan
We didn't use their services just went in for a meeting. It was a bit much for what we were looking for but we were still received with kindness and honesty. What a beautiful authentic experience we had with Breana
The staff were very helpful with the entire process. This was our first funeral but we were not left confused for even a moment. I highly suggest their service.
As I lay my grandfather, may he ready in peace. The staff here was very helpful making this experienced very easy.
Everyone at Ocean View was kind, respectful and patient. Our expectations were exceeded.
If your planning on not spending thousands of dollars on services do not select this Funeral Home. Recently went through the process with this funeral home on a budget and it's taken over 2 months to go from cremation to Niche internment. The litany of excuses and errors are too lengthy to list. Suffice to say that when I buried my parents, who had funds for a very nice funeral, it took a matter of days and service was with a smile and cookies. Shameful Ocean View that your sole focus is on the bottom line, surely you can treat your clients in a more equitable and respectful fashion during one of the most difficult times a family can experience.
Professional and polite staff, paying attention to detail which made one of the most stressful experiences more bearable.
Funeral Director Carson was outstanding. Patient, kind, thorough and understanding. We made a late change to selection of casket from pre-arranged and Carson again provided us with privacy and patience to make this very important selection. Additionally, her assistant Rebecca was equally efficient. My highest regards for Ocean View and their staff. Funeral services are one of life's most challenging events, yet this group made it as positive as could be under the circumstances.
It was ocean view and central park Burnaby
Wonderful acommodations. A bit small and stuffy, but the headstone was a nice touch to identify rooms.
Beautiful
I love this place
Cory went above and beyond. And the ground staff are very conscientious and professional
Simplified process during a time in need.
Lovely Funeral Home and Burial Park. Our Daughter is buried there and the staff have been wonderful. Each Christmas we attend the touching candlelight service at OceanView.
Thank you to Tyler for a great job in helping me organize my husband’s burial service. He took on the task and guided me through a difficult time with compassion and care. I’m most thankful for his professionalism and knowledge, as well as his efficiency. Tyler had served with the Canadian Armed Forces, as did my husband, and helped organize a service that involved the battalion Padre, other officers and St. John’s. My husband had the most respectful and honorable send-off, thanks to everyone involved.
Not to happy with the times permitted to visit. Wanted to visit my Dad today on his birthday but was unable to as you close at 4 pm. Moving the time from 4pm to 6pm would make a lot more sense seeing most people work up to 4pm or 5 pm. Your website still claims you are open until 6pm which is incorrect.
Our family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation for the support and excellent care of your staff team that helped us through this difficult time.
Being as it was my first time as the lead person handling these affairs I was grateful to be supported and helped along in a fair manor. Especially during these uncertain times I felt calm and was pleasantly surprised how it all came to be.
they cared about your feelings very attentive to our needs we just buried my beautiful sister in law March 22 2017
Thanks for the great help from your staff, they were great in handling the burial
Very poor service, my wife’s marker takes forever to make and I already paid in full. No one called me. The sales man is Gary. I confirmed the sketch on March 3. And today is August 17. I called Gary he did not answer. I went to office last month to find Gary and he said should be completed soon. And yet nothing happened so far.
A terrible experience for my parents who purchased pre-arranged funerals in 2019. We found out recently that their original agreements were subsequently altered without my parents' consent so that they could justify monthly withdrawals from my parents' bank account. When approached about this, their service manager Brent Forsyth failed to grasp the gravity of the situation and tried to make light of the situation by saying that we are "arguing semantics". It also became clear that they have no intention of honouring their 100% service guarantee.
I have lived across the street from this cemetery for 24 years. It is well kept and quiet and respectful. I have also attended funerals here and the staff have been friendly and professional. Years ago they went back and forth about allowing pets in the cemetery. They have allowed pets for years now which I really appreciate.
A nice place to spend time
I just want to thank Chanelle so very much. Your kindness and compassion during such a difficult time helped us more than you know. I appreciate you gentle guidance and support in so many different ways...from flowers to the use of the chapel, you just go that extra mile.
Korey Yu was excellent to deal with and comforting to know that he understood culture and other aspects that we should be following.
Great management
Everyone was so patient and kind. They made a difficult time less stressful with their help.
I was very impressed with the response I received. Not only did they find the headstone of my wife's grandparents, we were emailed a photograph which was very much appreciated. I couldn't have asked for better service.
Sorry, didn't get to see it
I appreciate all the care and handling of my mother's viewing and burial. I would highly recommend the ocean view burial service to friends and relatives. Sherman
We were extremely happy with the care and empathy provided by Breanna. She made suggestions and guided us through an emotional time. Many guests commented that Pastor Layton did a great job of leading the service. Sincere thanks Wendy
Staff at Ocean View were a great help and comfort to us during this challenging time, especially given the pandemic. Our funeral director Rebecca made sure all details were taken care of to allow us to properly honour our late dad.
Sandy is very professional in every step of the way. Always allowing the family time and dealing with each step on a very timely manner. Understands the tradition that can be different with each family members believe. Understanding what the famly is going through with complete respect for each and every one.
I feel bad on service. The mangement of the oceanview cemetery just focuses selling their service and graves to the new customers. Some customers left the candles and fruits the outside ura space at the Oceanview Cemetery. These fruits were attractive black birds eating on the graves or the ura spaces area. Some customers don't know protect tge cemetery enviroment. They made there too dirty. The candles were close my grandparents ura space. We would like to protect my grandparents ura space,so my cousin phoned to the Oceanview Cemetery to complaint this issue.the agent told her that the cemetery allows burning candles and paper money for the whole April because of Ching Ming day. Ching Ming day is 1 day only, but the Oceanview Cemetery allows customers who burning candles (open fire )and paper money for 1 month. This time my grand parents ura space didn't be burned or be smoked to be dark on the burning candles by other customers ,in the future who can promise me that my grand parents ura space will be safe on the burning candles at the Oceanview Cemetery. Moreover, the houses are the wooden houses in the neighbourhood. one candle can make the fire accident. I have lived in Vancouver for 30 years, we never burn the candles then left the candles and fruits at the cemetery .If you have the ura spaces or the graves of your family members, please go to check their graves and ura spaces in the whole April.
This was a very professional job done in very, very hard circumstances for me. I was really impressed with Carlos and Jeannie. They've organized everything to work like a Swiss clock. Right now I cannot find enough words to thank everyone!
Our experience with Oceanview was not pleasant. Even though we only wanted a very simple cremation and burial we were forced to sit through a very long presentation containing dozens and dozens of options; none of which we wanted. We had to say "No" over and over again. It's a very long story but the staff were disorganized and gave us conflicting information. The least expensive container to go to the crematory they offered was $800. We found out afterwards there were much less expensive options at other cemeteries.
Office hours are 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. seven days per week. The mausoleum buildings are open 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. every day. The cemetery is open dawn until dusk for visiting.
Our family was satisfied with the services provided by Ocean View. The staff were efficient, helping us through every step of our mother's funeral planning. Carlos, the funeral director, and his staff were organized & helped everything flow in a timely manner. They were accommodating & respectful, allowing us to plan the services according to our family's faith & traditions, and understanding when we wanted to make last minute requests. Thank you for supporting us through this difficult process. -The Lorenzana Family
Ocean View has been very helpful during a hard time and have been very empathetic during the loss of a family member. I would recommend their service to people who are in need to organize a funeral for their family member.
All was good with the funeral preparation except for the cemetery crypt contract and the letter bar contract. I needed to wait at the funeral home on two separate occasions, about 1 hr each time. This could have all been avoided with proper prep and process.
The funeral service for my mother went ok. When we made the funeral arrangement, since our parents share a plate, we were told that the date marker for my mother needs to be updated but included as part of the paid service. We were told later that the marker update is not included since the existing plate was ordered from another shop. In mid May, we contacted the funeral home intending to finish the marker. In the next few weeks, we left phone messages, text messages, email and even visited the funeral home. No one seemed to be interested in helping us. Anyway we are done dealing with this place. We found an independent funeral director and he helped us ordered the marker within a few days. So basically, there are absolutely no post-sales service.
I was walking through the cemetery in the afternoon and an employee let off some kind of unbelievably loud noise. I assume it was for bird control because there were a few crows on the lawn. The noise scared me to death. My heart was racing and I was shaking. I didn't know if it was a gun shot or a bomb but I had never heard anything like it. I think this is a really extreme measure to take for a few crows... A cemetery should be peaceful.
