I attended a funeral planning workshop by Mark and George McKenzie from McKenzie Funeral Services in West Vancouver. Mark and George were so friendly and made everyone feel relaxed. They are clearly very experienced and knowledgeable and their desire to help people was evident. The information that they provided on funeral planning was clear, concise and transparent, and every question that was asked of them was answered fully. The topic is hard fr most people to talk about but it was like having a chat with family. What I particularly liked was that they look after everything themselves, they have there own Crematorium which means me or my loved ones wouldn't go anywhere else but would be looked after by Mark, George and their family all the way through the process and for me that is comforting.

Mark and Gord handled everything for us, no pressure just presented options to find what worked best to celebrate the life of our loved one (Dad) They even set up our graveside service in the midst of monsoon like conditions. We couldn't have made a better call.

After finding out my father was terminal and being transferred to North Shore Hospice I called a few larger ,well advertised funeral providers that were not forthcoming on costs nor where my Dad would be taken after his death, I was relieved when my first call to McKenzie Funeral Services reached George the owner. He answered all of my questions straight up with compassion for our situation. I was comforted to know my dad would be taken to their home in Squamish. Yes they live upstairs from the facility ! My call was followed up with a personal email from George's son Mark with all the prices and the necessary paperwork needed to have everything in order. My father was part of the planning and commented how relieved he was that we were supported by the McKenzie Family. Dad even cracked a smile when I said his last road trip would be on the Sea to Sky Highway with the rest of us in convoy behind him. When my father passed away a few months later George was the one to answer my call and arrange for his son in law to pick Dad up from Hospice. We were allowed to be a part of this process including the trip with Dad to Squamish for our final goodbye. The MFS website page and all newspaper obituaries were handled for us with no surprises or tacky up-selling. I recommend them whole heartedly for your or a loved one's final stage of this life. KT An update now 5 years later, the McKenzie family have helped several of my friends navigate their end of life arrangements for themselves and loved ones.

I can't thank McKenzie Funeral Services, and in particular, Mark McKenzie, enough. My mother died just before Christmas, which deeply affected our family. To add to the stress, my mother's rest home was experiencing a terrible outbreak of COVID 19 and the whole facility was in lock-down. I really didn't know what to do. Thankfully, McKenzie stepped in and handled every conceivable detail. They were caring, professional, and very quick to respond. Had to organize a funeral for my father with very short notice to accommodate guests who were here from out of town. George and his wife and son Mark did an amazing job and made me feel at ease the whole time. I felt confident that they could do what they said they would and they delivered perfectly. Very unprofessional Yelling "It's on the floor in the back" while someone is picking up the ashes of their spouse of 40 years is not cool. While a grieving widow is signing paperwork is not the time to notice the date and announce that it is free Slurpee day at 7-11. Offering someone a chair while they are in filling out paperwork at a desk is just common courtesy. Instead she had to find her own chair and block the way for others. Do you not have private offices where this can be done? Awful.

The people at McKenzie funeral services have provided excellent care following the passing of my wife in late April, 2020. They are a family-owned business with an excellent track record of compassionate, efficient, flexible services. They are accessible by phone 24/7 and are very helpful in clarifying any aspect of their services. The website is very user-friendly with a clear outline of options and costs as well as resources such as filing for benefits. They have also addressed the complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic in respectful, careful ways. This clear, comprehensive approach is so valuable for people who are grieving and perhaps making funeral arrangements for the first time. To a person, the staff are friendly and understanding. I strongly recommend them.

Jim and I are so grateful to Mark McKenzie and all of the staff at McKenzie Funeral Services. In the early summer of 2020, Mark helped us set up any necessary pre-arrangements for that unpredictable, but sad and inevitable loss of a loved one needing more and more care. More than that, he was able to suggest funeral options in the horrible scenario that we may not be able to be there in person due to COVID 19 restrictions. Thankfully, this did not occur and Jim's mom did not pass away until June of 2021 and we were able to be with her before that. However, when that time did come, McKenzie Funeral Services were ready to complete all the necessary details both efficiently and in a very personal and kind manner. More than this, they were able to provide a customized funeral service for an intimate family gathering via Zoom. Mark was so accommodating in getting all the necessary paperwork and essentials done and in helping us plan the service. This was no "cookie cutter" service; our choice for music, our pictures and order of presentation for a slide show, of tributes, and general set up were all incorporated. George gave a wonderful prayer and acknowledgement - we were so pleased. At the end, participants were able to chat between themselves. It was a true "celebration of life" and so important to all of the family. I would highly recommend Mark and his team to anyone needing these services. First rate!

Geoff assisted myself and my family at McKenzie Funeral home on a Wednesday, and after reviewing some details and general pricing we were told it is possible to hold the funeral ceremony on the coming Friday. The next day we visited again to finalize the paper work. Geoff and the team worked diligently to meet make it happen on the Friday. The ceremony was beautifully conducted with the utmost level of professionalism. I am forever grateful, considering it snowed the next day continuing for a week.
