REVIEWS OF Delta Funeral Home & Cremation Centre IN British Columbia

The following review is for Delta and Avalon funeral home both of which are under Arbor. My Mother who resided in a care facility in B.C Delta area . Being that at the time myself and family in B.C were making arrangements with Delta funeral home with the hopes of having the arrangements for transportation of my mother from B.C back to Alberta in place prior to my mother's passing away. The following is a review of both funeral homes that not only failed exceptionally in handling our requests but the blatant disrespect shown to my family in person and to my deceased mother . Both by Delta and Avalon. First contact to Delta June 17 via phone. call to discuss arrangements and requirements for my Mother prior to passing away. In conversation with the representative I expressed the urgent matter and imminent pass away of my mother and the necessary to have this settled immediately. I requested a detailed estimate to pass along to my family in B.C to make arrangements for payment. This call was made in the morning. I did not receive any email reply or estimate or what would be required for transportation of my mother. Since I had no reply I called Avalon. Not knowing at the time both funeral homes belonged to Arbor. In conservation with Avalon, I did get emailed an estimate. June 18th After repeat calls to Delta and emails I finally received a paragraph of a rough estimate . I did request a more detailed explanation of the estimate. After sending multiple emails to have this agreement settled and again insisting that my mother's passing away was imminent and this was needing to be settled immediately. No reply no phone calls. I was chasing delta for answers and help. None too be had. June 19th. Called delta once again to get the agreement in place so the finances could be completed. I was informed by delta that my request had been forwarded to the a sales representative who would be calling me. I was also informed by delta that also the sales representative was informed that the passing away was imminent and the urgent matter this be settled immediately. That information was passed from one Delta employee to another. 2 days have now passed and still nothing from delta until mid afternoon of June 19th. Finally after repeated call after call email after email do I get a call from a Delta representative. I inform this representative that my family will be meeting him at the Delta funeral home to pay for the arrangements. Keep this in mind. For the last two 2 days I have been stressing the importance of the urgency of getting this settled and imminent passing . Everything was relayed via email and phone calls. On this same day my mother passed away . My family went to meet this sales representative from Delta at there funeral home. Not more than 10 minutes after my mother passed away. After my family telling this sales representative from delta that my mother had just passed away not more than 10 mins ago. The sales representative immediately stopped all agreements for my mother. Said I don't handle deceased people and told my family this to them directly. “ Here's a card, go to Avalon down the road, they are only 6 minutes away. “ And ended every settlement I agreed with via email with delta. This happened 10 mins or so after my mother's passing away at Delta funeral home in there AVALON. While dealing with the funeral home in Edmonton Alberta. Our first meeting being on June 22nd . We contacted Avalon funeral home to get a firm date when my mother would be put on an airplane to Edmonton. The representative in Edmonton talking with Avalon representative, asked when my mother would be arriving in Edmonton. The reply. “Not really sure, maybe Wednesday or Thursday, it be a safe bet on Thursday They have a non transparent system not customer focused and below standards when it comes to being accountable for there astounding mistakes. Since these incidents have happened. I have not received a single call from either company to apologize for the mistreatment caused by them.

Mike and staff went out of their way to be helpful. The on-line streaming of the service meant that many from nearby and afar, who wouldn’t normally be able to attend the funeral could be apart of it. The newly decorated chapel was very nice. My brother looked like my brother and the family really liked the casket you recommended. Thank you!

My sister and I were fortunate to have Victor Lee of the Delta Funeral Home assist us with the pre-planning of our future funeral costs. He spent over 4 hours putting up with our questions and helping us make the right decisions, all with no pressure. He even rescheduled his next appointment to take us to the last trek of our future journey. We can’t thank Victor enough for making this task easier for us.

It goes without saying that loosing our loves ones can feel like the most heart-wrenching experiences. We lost our dad late last year to cancer just before Christmas. These things are never easy. The staff at Delta Funeral Home really eased the pain and the process for us. They are incredibly sincere and were professional the whole way through. We could not have asked for more from Doug and his team. I must also share that Geneva Grey had done a wonderful job managing, designing, and coordinating on the custom install of our father's bronze headstone. The imagery, font, and impressions it gives out will last for infinity. Thank you so much Geneva for being an enormous part of paying tribute to him. We will be forever grateful...

Caring staff and a comfortable place to have your loved ones funeral services. We’ve had our father, uncle, aunt and now our dear mother will be celebrated here this weekend. Very clean throughout facility with a chapel to accommodate 110 people, comfort crying room and a pleasant bright reception area all in one building. Parking is limited on site but plenty of side street parking available. Be sure to ask for Mr. Gaetz who I believe is the manager. A very friendly kind man who will answer and attend to all your needs,

Charles Gerard handled the arrangements in the death of my wife with absolute professionalism and compassion. His friendly approach made a tense situation bearable and helped a long way in the healing process. I would give TEN stars.

My Mom passed away in Tsawwassen. She had been a member of the BC Memorial Society, but the funeral home for that was in Surrey - and not convenient. I was happy that Delta Funeral Home honoured the price for those members, even though they did not have to. I very much appreciated the care, concern, and professionalism of Jayden and the Delta Funeral Home staff. My mom wanted only a simple cremation, and I was impressed that Delta Funeral Home did not pressure me into anything else. You hear about horror stories of that kind of thing happening, but Delta Funeral Home was very respectful of my Mom's wishes, and did everything she had asked for. I would recommend them completely.

I needed the cremation certificate and burial permit for an uncle that died in 2005. Jennifer hunted down the documents and offered to send them to the church directly. When she was unable to reach the church’s primary contact she contacted the priest at the church and sent him the documents. She took the extra step to complete the task. I find that extra effort rare in our busy world. Thank you Jennifer.

We met with salesperson Geneva Gray to buy a flat grass granite marker for our Mom, Frances Deplares. She helped us select and design the marker and it looks beautiful. Geneva is a very professional and friendly person. She is sensitive to all the emotions we have been going through. Thank You.

Delta funeral home is a caring, respectful and professional service. We have had the unfortunate experience of needing to use the Ladner office for Delta funeral services several times in the last few years . We would not entrust our loved ones to anyone else. Delta funeral services guided and cared for our family and loved ones through the most difficult of times with the utmost respect and dedication to our wishes. We have treasured memories and keepsakes of our loved ones thanks to the Delta Funeral Home services . Linda Ahara

I just met with Geneva Gray, to pick up a legal will kit. She took the time to go through the entire process, in a simple, easy to understand way. She is very good at what she does and puts your mind at ease when talking about such a difficult subject. Geneva should be commended for her professionalism, and reassuring demeanor when meeting with families, while going through difficult times.

When my granny passed, my mom and I were totally devastated and overwhelmed with grief. Among the number of funeral homes in Vancouver, we decided to choose the closest to us - Delta Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. After meeting with Jennifer, the service director, we knew that we made the right choice. Jennifer was so efficient, helping us through every step of my mother's funeral planning. She was very professional, accommodating, and respectful, allowing us to plan the service according to our family faith and traditions and being very understanding when we wanted to make last minute requests. Because of her help and comforting advice, on the day of the funeral, my family and I felt more prepared, mentally and emotionally. Our entire family sends gratitude and appreciation to Jennifer and the staff of Delta Funeral Home for their hard work, support, and comfort they provided at these tough times for us.

Beginning with our first phone call with Mike following the unexpected death of son Tim, our subsequent experience with Delta Funeral Home and Cremation Centre was outstanding. Mike and his staff were always sensitive to our needs and responded in a timely, professional and caring manner. The necessary arrangements were fully explained and all follow though was completed as agreed. We sought their assistance to finalize the obituary and arrange publication in two newspapers in the lower mainland of B.C., plus another in Saskatchewan. We have no hesitation in recommending their services.

During a heavy loss period that was exacerbated considerably by the Pandemic (I.e. restricted gathering numbers), we found the Delta Funeral Home (DFH) team to be responsive, empathetic, proactive and entrepreneurial (taping the small ceremony, zoom wedding options, ash/urn management). While nobody wants to go through this, for most people, it is inevitable so the logistics around funeral arrangements needs to be seamless/clean so focus can be directed to family management and the mourning process; the DFH team achieved this in a very unique COVID window.

We would like to thank all the individuals who helped us through this extremely difficult time of heartache. From the moment that we contacted Mike on the phone, we found relief in knowing how much professionalism and empathy is given to the people, the grieving individuals that feel left behind. Jayden gave us so much help, even with things that we had not thought of, not sure how we can really ever Thank-you. Our loved one was sent to heaven as you held our hand. We are sincerely thankful.
