PLEASE TAKE THE My father passed last week. And now that his ashes are safely with us, I have to bring this to everyone's attention. My father past at approximately 12:20 in the morning. The nurse on the floor that helped us mentioned for us to come the next day to get his paperwork. So that morning we went at 11 a.m. to Administration and requested his paperwork. A lovely lady there informed us that we don't have to take his paperwork that's when we choose a funeral home that they would pick up the paperwork. We checked all the spelling on the paperwork and left the hospital. Our clsc social worker for my dad referred us to a funeral home near the clsc Résidences funéraires Laurent Thériault So I proceeded to call there and book an appointment to see what they had to offer. The lady could not give us an appointment the following day but said she could fit Us in on Friday. I agreed to that date and then she followed with questions like, what is your father's name?, where he was at the moment? and I replied Verdun General, and then finally she asked how much he weighed?. I was curious so I asked why she had to know his weight. She replied, for transport. I was a little startled and mentioned to her we are only coming Friday to see what they could offer to us. She assured me that it was just a formality . After this conversation we realized with the amount of people that would probably be coming to celebrate my father's life that we would be better off doing everything at the Family Parish so we could also show some of his artwork. Once we came up with this idea I called immediately to cancel the appointment and let them know that we did not need their services. I called eight times to a number that is supposed to be open 24/7 and there was no answer and no answering machine. The Thursday before the appointment I get a phone call confirming the appointment. I mentioned to Stephanie( the lady from Résidences funéraires Laurent Thériault) that we no longer needed the services and that I had tried out of respect to call as soon as possible but there was no answer. She said it was no problem and our conversation ended. Not two minutes later my phone rings and Stephanie informs me that they had already transported the my dad from Verdun General. In a State of Shock I said we did not give permission for that. She proceeded to say that the hospital called her. Which could not be true because they did not know that we were even in contact with that specific Funeral Home. Now this being said this is not the time nor is any time a good time for this to happen. I called the hospital twice and they said they do not call funeral homes and that they just showed up with the paperwork filled out to transport my father. You could only imagine the range of emotions myself, my sister and my brother along with our families have felt. They have given no explanation and even said they would try not to charge us for the transportation. This funeral Home ( Résidences funéraires Laurent Thériault) hijacked my father for business and still have yet to apologize. We have since gone to a funeral home which were gracious, empathetic and understanding. We don't want this to happen to anyone else and their loved ones.

Following the death of my father we chose this funeral home for my father’s cremation. It being a young and sudden death we were rather distraught. After leaving the place, having paid and everything for the government filled out, I get a call saying that they cannot find the body. And actually used the words “the hospital has lost the body”. It was not lost, I knew this the hospital knew this, the paper that was given to the funeral parlour told them this, his body was transferred for an autopsy. And was written very plainly on the form from the hospital. They also failed to fully completely the government forms, they failed to ask if he had a drivers or firearm licence they simply marked no, instead of asking and filling the form out correctly. Also the forms for the government death certificate were not sent in correctly making a long delay, that even the government couldn’t understand. I would never recommend this place, how do you misplace a dead body, and why would they call the family and not the hospital.
