As you know, we don't usually stop to write reviews when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

Nice new offices
Valhalla did a wonderful job accommodating my parents wishes for interment service. They touched on every detail while planning and executed their support with aplomb. Family and friends were very pleased.
Timothy, Michael and the entire staff at Valhalla-Gaerdner-Holten Funeral Home were absolutely amazing in handling the details to honor my father. Everything was absolutely beautiful. All of the arrangements and services were handled with loving care and exceeded our expectations. I cannot say enough about how great they were to work with during a very difficult time. They made sure that we covered all of our bases. They arranged all the details for a military honor guard, a rifle volley and a military fly-over. We could not have asked for more.
Tried to put flowers on friend's grave. After 4 calls where i was put on hold and then interrupted repeatedly by their staff, I gave up. .Followup: I received a reply from the director who righted things immediately. He went over and above to make things nice for my friend's grave. Great place.
This may sound strange for a review but we had a service for a dear friend yesterday, Sep 16 2015 and I thought from beginning to end was done very well and in great taste…. The Patriot Guard Riders were also there due to our friend being in the Navy as a young man. The staff was very, very nice! Ive been to some funeral homes where the staff is just "dark" and way too impersonal. Im sure every funeral is different as is how the person passed away. Our deceased friend was a funny old guy so most people had something to say that would make you laugh. That said, the staff had lightened up quickly and could laugh with us during some of it BUT was very professional when the time came to be just that. They didn't rush us out as if we were just a number. I appreciated the way they carried out the service. Thanks to all!! The Patriot Guard….. WOW…. They were, for a lack of better words, the icing on the cake. They made this whole funeral what is was meant to be…. A tribute to one of their Navy Brothers…. a Military sendoff that was due to our friend for his service. The respect our service members should all get. The combination of the great staff at the funeral home and the Patriot Guard Riders made this the perfect service for our dear friend. As we drove to the Cemetery I was also impressed with the numerous oncoming vehicles who stopped to respect the funeral procession. Makes you feel good inside. Thank You again!
The staff is very compassionate and they are extremely helpful and accommodating.
Mike Landry and the rest of the team did an outstanding job with both of our loved ones considering the Covid Stuation!
The staff were very professional and supportive during a challenging time. I lost both parents over three months. My parents had prearrangements with Valhalla. The staff were very kind both times. They were quick to provide guidance and answer questions as we went through the process.
The staff at Valhalla is amazing! My family found them very accommodating and compassionate.
There wonderful helpful and very caring
They were very helpful and courtesy with their presentation of what I wanted and when the time can when I needed them. They were there to take care of my mom.
From the beginning nothing seems to be done right. Ordered head stone for my mother that was a double for my father when he passes and right out of the gate we get the wrong stone. Finally get right one in and it gets placed on side where my father is to be buried instead of at my mom's "fresh" grave. Who messes up like that!!! Took two more calls to get it fixed. Let's move on to flowers. We have been placing or own but my father decided last month to pay for a Christmas grave blanket, Christmas flowers and all flowers for next year. Well, no blanket, no flowers for Christmas and they don't have anymore. They offer to run around to different places to find one 2 days before Christmas. So, we pay top dollar and they want to throw rubbish on the grave from where ever they can find something. The only remake we ever get is "so sorry, our mistake." We will be contacting the corporate office. It's hard enough facing the first year and holidays with it my mom and you add this kind of stress to us.
Great service for a long-time neighbor. Thank You
My family and I had a very good experience with all of the staff at Valhalla. Special thanks to Tim Gibbons for going above and beyond what would be expected.
Everyone was so nice and helpful. Patient with my questions. And I love that there is a payment plan option. I could tell that they are willing to work with people and there are professional and sincere. And care about people's needs and wants. They are very thorough too.
Don't use Valhalla! We went to them to bury my father-in-law. They made an error in the obituary (the spelling of a name, which they assured us they had on record, as this person was buried there.) There was no way to make memorial donations online. I realize this is a small inconvenience, but in this day and age, quite ridiculous. My father-in-law chose cremation, and we were told with COVID that there would be a delay, but they would reach out when his remains were ready to schedule burial. We waited and waited, and finally called them. His ashes had been sitting for three weeks and no one bothered to call. We had to call them. The manager offered to refund us our money, minus the cost of digging the very small hole for burial of his ashes. We accepted and thought it was handled professionally. Upon receipt of the check, our $4600 refund was suddenly $460. Please keep in mind, my father-in-law had pre-paid for most of the funeral. There's some strange math going on there, and terrible customer service.
Always a great experience, the chapel at this location is beautiful, the staff is always kind and helpful.
Chris and April were professional and caring with my family needs . My father started the planning of his prearrangement. He was unable to finish his arrangement. We had a lot of question and Chris and April were able to finish these plan with us .
Very friendly and helpful.
I can't say enough how impressed I am with this business, and Sarah specifically. I contacted Sarah to request assistance in adding a special touch to a small floral arrangement delivered to Valhalla for a family member's service. Sarah printed and inserted a small poem (Pennies from Heaven) in the arrangement, even including a shiny penny. She took an already beautiful arrangement (from Eckert Floral) and made it more gorgeous, personal and meaningful. I know work days are filled with multiple tasks and deadlines, but she took time out of her day to fulfill my request beyond my expectations. Additionally, on her own initiative, she forwarded me a photo of the final arrangement - I was able to share it with other family members who were part also unable to be present. Sarah went above & beyond - a trait too rare anymore. With that concern, I know the entire service was an honor to a life well lived. In short, I highly recommend Valhalla-Gaerdner-Holten Funeral Home and the service they so professionally & compassionately provide.
The level of professionalism Janice Hopkins and her team did during this trying time for our family was fantastic! I highly recommend ValHalla for your end of life family needs.
The Grounds Crew is doing a wonderful job! The Cemetery is looking better and better everyday.
Very, Compassionate people and answered all of our questions that we had, even the ones before we even asked. Highly recommend.
If I could rate Valhalla negative stars I would! My father designed a bench for his ashes a year prior to his death. When he passed, it wasn't done. We were estimated a time frame, when we called about it, they didnt know who we were. "They had to find our file" ... when looking in the wall where ashes are (where they told us they'd put him until the bench was in) he or my mothers ashes were no where to be found!!! After they explain its all mistakes. They are taking care of it... when we call to follow up weeks later, once again no documentation of anything!!! My father had cancer, he heartly designed his bench, it meant ALOT to him, he paid and arranged his funeral so we didn't have the stress. Well my advice is dont ever pay for your funeral in full because you and your family will get brushed a side. Out of all the grieving and arranging after a loved one passes, drama with the funeral home is the LAST thing I expected! Shame on Valhalla.
Honestly I never wanted my mother buried but unfortunately I wasn’t old enough but coming to see her grave here makes it so much worse every time I come see her there is grass and weeds over her grave to where you can barely even see it the one behind her today was even worse makes me so upset when I go there and it should never be like that even though she is in the back they keep the front looking nice but neglect everyone else’s
Wonderful experience!! Needing help and everyone was very kind-highly recommended!
I would highly recommend Valhalla funeral home. Made our family at ease with decisions to be made. All our questions and concerns were immediate addressed. My husband service was beautiful.
Marker ordered March 23, not being laid until May 30Th! Will never recommend this Funeral home! No follow thru, unacceptable care for families grief!
I don't have the words to fully express my gratitude and thankfulness for the care and support Timothy and Janis from Valhalla Funeral Home gave to me and my sisters in planning the Celebration of Life service for our precious father. Due to Covid, we were not able to have his celebration for a year and a half after his death. That didn't affect their commitment to make every single detail meaningful and personal in our desire to honor our dad. To say they went above and beyond is extremely inadequate. My sisters and I were so touched by their commitment to make our father's service exactly the way we wanted it. They perfectly understood the desires of our hearts. They took it upon themselves to personalize details beyond our expectations that wonderfully reflected the character and spirit of our dear dad. My sisters and I will be forever grateful to Timothy and Janis at Valhalla funeral home. Their kind, compassionate and genuine spirit will never be forgotten and will always live in our hearts.
This is something no one wants to do, but I have to say Lisa was very kind and listened to our wishes..Thank you .
We had a very good experience with our mothers funeral. Staff was very caring and respectful during our time of loss. Memorial was a beautiful service.
Making funeral preparations while grieving the loss of a loved one is a difficult time for anyone. Our funeral director, Breanne Reno, and the staff at Valhalla made the process easier for us than we ever could have expected. I was pleased that my dad had chosen Valhalla for his final preparations. It was a name I was familiar with, as they've handled the arrangements for other members of my family. The staff were friendly yet professional, without being too "stuffy," and we shared several laughs with them throughout the process. (It really is the best medicine, especially during times of grief.) We were able to plan a memorial that was exactly the way my dad would have wanted it, with Bre at the helm to oversee and execute a day to remember. We were also thankful that Valhalla was able to offer us a catered meal and the space to serve it! This took the stress out of wondering where we would all go to eat afterwards, and allowed us to decompress after a long day. A true local leader in the funeral industry, I have no doubt that the staff at Valhalla would have been accommodating no matter our requests. They offer a variety of options that will help you memorialize your loved one however you see fit. While it seems somewhat strange to say that I'd love to give a funeral home more of my business, I am comforted in knowing that when the time comes, the folks at Valhalla will be prepared to help me plan a service with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail.
My husband and I both made prearrangements for our funerals. Mike was great about explaining things to us and there was no pressure at all. We will definitely be back to make arrangements for my mother after we talk with her about her wishes and finances are right.
The staff made an extremely sad time more bearable. Arrangements for my mother could not have been easier. They called, emailed and, texted checking to see if we were okay or if there was anything they could do. They check back periodically just to make sure we’re okay.
Sorry but I was very displeased and upset by the experience I had. My mother passed away at the end of February. They used a 23 year old picture for her obituary, even though we told them how old it was. They messed up the spelling of multiple names, the location of the memorial service, and my parents wedding date on the obituary. They said they would have the slideshow taken to the church the day before the service, it was 20 minutes before the service started. They gave my dad the wrong persons ashes. Thank God my sister took at closer look at the label. I’m sorry to say but every day we had a new issue. When someone you love passes, you hope that the transition is easy. This time it wasn’t because of everything we had to deal with. The only reason I leave 2 stars is because of the employee Chris we worked with, but apparently he isn’t working there anymore. Proceed with caution and check the ashes you receive.
I went to Vahalla Memorial Day weekend and was astouned! Very organized, the grounds looked amazing and the people were very informative. Thanks for the work that goes in to that event.
Our family has used Valhalla for years but not this generation! After overpaying on our mom's, dad's and brother they still want $400.00 more to do the inscription on out parent's joint headstone. After our mother passed we paid her expenses and prepaid Dad's. They have a joint headstone. We thought we had paid for everything, at least that is what they led us to believe. a year after dad passed they want $400.00 to inscribe just the dates! plus his funeral was a total mess, wrong songs, wrong pictures etc, Would like to give them a - 10.
The staff was caring yet very professional. Our family was more than pleased with the service from the moment we first stepped inside Valhalla. Dad had taken care of all his arrangements years ago so he not only saved our family some money but made a very sad time for us much easier to deal with since he had everything prearranged.
We would like to thank everyone at Valhalla. Our fathers funeral was done professionally and compassionately. From start to finish Chris and Michael were there for us answering all of our questions and concerns. At such a hard time it was nice to be working with people who care.
I highly recommend Valhalla for all your funeral needs! Very professional and caring!!
Cold and uncaring
Michael Landy provided excellent guidance, documentation, and peace of mind in making our funeral plans.
We experienced exceptional care and attention to detail and felt that our deceased loved one and all the family were taken care of in a loving way and in a safe environment during this very sad time.
We had pondered this subject for years and finally executed the plans for our funerals. The process was easy even though a bit expensive but now, the family does not have to worry about what to do. Finalizing the plans remotely with a teleconference was painless and easy. Thank you for your help.
My family has used Valhalla for many years, they took care of everything when my husband passed, and helped me to set up a pre paid plan for myself so my family doesn’t have to do it when I pass, they treated me like I was family, I would recommend them for anyone!!!!! There GREAT!!!! Thank you for making this so easy.
Our father passed in May of 2020 and we were able to finally host his Celebration of Life on his birthdate. Timothy Gibbons and Janis Hopkins provided amazing guidance, making sure we had everything we needed to provide an meaningful event. The compassion of these individuals truly made a difference. Taking time to care about the needs of those who have experienced a loss is so important. How grateful we are to have had such attentive support! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Beautifully, well kept cemetery
Wonderful staff. Thank you Valhalla-Gaerdner-Holt for making a time if heartbreak as beautiful as possible!
