REVIEWS OF Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site IN Baddeck

Nick P.

The museum itself is educational, but it's a lot if reading and anything interactive us disable because of covid I guess, doesn't make much sense. It could be better information was presented in a variety of ways. The view out over baddeck is amazing though

Cynthia Lindell

Beautiful displays, really reveals his amazing mind. And a beautiful building and location over Bras d'Or.

Harjot singh

Very nice and knowledgeable place to visit if you near to this. Highly recommended.

Kevin Gillett

Exceeded our expectations. What a wonderful museum. We really had no idea about the other ventures that AGB was involved in. This is a wonderful tribute from Canada to AGB and his wife's memories.

Larry K

An incredibly interesting museum. Bell was an incredible inventor. A lot of reading with a lot of exhibits, well worth the time while stopping over in Baddeck.

Dale M

Great exhibits! So much to learn about a much learned man, his family, and their lives. Air, water, light, sound, and electricity... Amazing!

Balan Swaminathan

It's worth seeing this museum. All my physics that I studied came alive. I really appreciate Graham's prophetic vision that's based on science. Few examples as below. The day will come when the man at the telephone will be able to see the distant person to whom he is speaking. He predicted in 1907 that it would not be long until “a man can take dinner in New York and breakfast the next morning in Liverpool.”

Michelle S

Incredible place to learn about the brilliant ideas and inventions of Alexander Graham Bell.

Joel Gallant

What did Alexander Graham Bell NOT invent? This was one amazing human being. Less than $20 CAD to enter; tours and shows are extra.

Peter “Preacher” MacNeil

This is a wonderful view into the life and accomplishments of Alexander Graham Bell in Badeck, Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. There are full scale models and live presentations. The reason I am not giving a 5 star rating is due to the VR multimedia system being unavailable due to "staff shortages" even though three guides were observed chatting about their personal lives for a quarter of an hour!

Mel Roman

Tells so much more of the story beyond the telephone

SANDRA B

We were travelling through on a family vacation and stopped by to see what kind of place it was. We thought it would be a quick stop and we ended up spending a couple of hours here! This place is just AMAZING! The kids really enjoyed it and they have so many things to see and do!! You won't be disappointed!!

Nicole Hubley

A very interesting experience, lots to look at. I recommend the white glove tour if you have the time.

Raunaq Singh

Loved reading all about Graham Bell and his various invention s and experiments other than the telephone. Great experience for the kids. It is located at a very nice spot in the Cape Breton area, right across Bras'O Dor lake and very near to all the popular restraunts in the Badeck area.

Fred Apon

Had a wonderful visit here. Used our park pass so was excellent. It is unfortunate that they are charging extra $$ for other features such as 360 experience . It just feels a bit like a money grab.

IvanSquad

This is one of my favourite museums I wanted to read it all. It's very educational and a great thing to check out in Baddeck! I could spend all day reading!

Tim Hawkins

Loved this place. It holds the story of an incredible inventor, and is also a love story. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, but his intellect traveled farther than that. His ingenuity covered aircraft, watercraft, freshwater recovery, and more. His lifelong love of his wife Mabel is very inspiring. The grounds are lovely and deserve time to sit, breathe the fresh air, enjoy the view, and ponder the historical events that took place in the immediate area.

max cizauskas

It's a very affordable museum that can keep you entertained for a couple hours. There are upgraded experiences you can do for additional costs, but those aren't needed to learn about Alexander Graham Bell. There's also an interactive kids experimentation area, which keeps those younger ones entertained in a place with a lot of reading to do. It does feature a lot about Baddeck, so that feels a little too touristy for my liking but easily avoided.

Marcus Herbert

This place.... it shows the pipeline for a lot of our technology. Including proof of concepts developed before the 1900's and released fairly recently. What's most surprising is that everything there has a current iteration in use... it makes you wonder if all the items still held back from the public just haven't made it out of the pipeline yet.

Kevin Bates

Well made and surprisingly spacious museum. This is a great stop before starting the Cabot Trail drive to learn some things.

Dave Michel

Lots to see. Well designed museum on Alexander Graham Bell and wife Mabels contributions to science and deaf people.

Mark Berkeley

Take a walk back in time at this awesome and very informative museum! A very well later out facility that showcases the many great contributions that Alexander Graham Bell made to the world during his lifetime.

WonderWendy M

What a character Alexander Graham Bell must have been - his spirit resonates to this day. It was a fun museum to visit - he and Mabel were a heck of a team!

Christine Fritz

This as museums go, is one of the most awesome I have ever been to. They even have kites available for you to take outside and fly on the big hill nearby. There is a scavenger hunt that even my slightly jaded 12 year old loved. Lots of interactive exhibits and so much information I didn't know. Great activity and really nice facility.

Michael Burns

An amazing place for the whole family to learn and spend a great day together! A must see- especially on a rainy day! Definitely sign up for the kite making workshop!!

Juliana Kühnert

Great museum. Beautiful place.

Adam Foley

Honestly, it was closed when we rolled in. The grounds are really well kept, there were things to see as we took a walk around. Best of all there was a set of Tesla donated charging stations that gave us a bit of a boost before heading south and away from Beautiful and historic Cape Breton.

Ken Faubel

Very interesting museum on a very pretty site. I would have liked to see more telephony related exhibits but I found the aviation section interesting. Worth the trip for sure.

Stuart Moore

A very thorough tribute to Alexander Graham Bell in a town where he spent much of his life. Many, many original artifacts and a spectacular flight worthy recreation of the Silver Dart. There's a lot more to Bell than just the telephone and this museum shows it all. A new VR Hydrofoil exhibit is in place for an extra fee and I quite enjoyed it.

Emil Schreiner

Nice location and lots of staff. On the down side, it's not nearly as grand as I remember it. This is a visitor centre and museum, but doesn't give you access to the house. The museum is showing its age and is noticibly "old style". Nice place for a picnic and admission is reasonable, so definitely a worthy stop.

Tieghan Hunt

Very interesting piece of history - learnt a lot that I didn’t know! Beautiful setting, interesting artifacts. Did not take too long for us to complete our time in the museum - maybe an hour. Most interesting for those keen on inventions, telephones and flight.

Matt Saunders

The place has more information and exbits then we were expecting Was a great experience

Ovida Pinto

It's a good place to get to know the history of telephone and story of Graham bell. Due to covid not everything is open .

Mithun

Loved it. Outside the museum is also very beautiful. Also Baddeck warefront is within walking distance from the museum.

Julie West

Really informative exhibits. Well done kids activities to keep them entertained while the adults enjoyed the sights.

Eric Viklund

Glad we stopped at this history rich museum. Rich with details of the life and times of AGB including how influential his wife Mabel was to him. Loved the full sized model of the Silver Dart hanging from the ceiling, though not the best placement for good photos.

Peter Sheremeta

Well organized exhibits and knowledgeable staff. If you want to know more about the times, life and genius of AGB, this is the museum to visit.

Aaron R

Had a great time touring through here with my 13 year old. The property is well maintained and full of interactive exhibits including hydroplane racing virtual reality. They offer plenty of parking, clean washrooms and activities for smaller children. It’s a must see if you’re visiting Cape Breton.

Ellen Muir

Who knew AG Bell was responsible for more that just the telephone?! Great little museum crammed with artifacts and lots of interesting facts about Dr. Bell AND his formidable and wonderful wife. Well worth the time to learn about their contributions.

Catherine Archibald

I love this museum. I can go back many times and learn more every visit

JAIMIN AHIR

It was a good knowledgeable experience. If you would like to read and collect facts you can spend couple of hours easily. Staff were nice and friendly. Demonstration is good too.

Michelle Baker

Did think this would be an exciting museum, but I was VERY wrong. A lot of information presented in an interesting way. Lots for kids of all ages Beautiful building and grounds. Go fly a kite!

I KNOOOW

good experience, loved the free EV charger

Isabelle Muller

Museum explaining the life and inventions of Alexander Graham Bell, close to his house on Cape Breton Island. The replica of his Silver Dart is great. There are what are left of his real hydrofoil.

Ron “FishTalesRVA” Binshtok

What an awesome place! Enjoyed our time there. Very well done museum.

Robert Wolf

Very detailed with lots of history and exhibits. Allocate 1-2 hours to take in everything. Both young and old will enjoy.

Lee Fraser

Enjoyed our visit, overwhelming history well displayed

Jeff Nephew

Great exhibits for young and old! Our whole family really enjoyed it. The kids were giving kites that provided hours of further entertainment back at the cottage

k

Very interesting and moving exhibits about a very talented man. The grounds are beautiful with a stunning view of the lighthouse. They offer kite rentals too.

Joanne Bellafatto

What an interesting man Alexander Graham Bell was! We had no idea until visiting this museum. Only 4 stars because there were other exhibits/ activities that were additional over the entrance fee. We were first timers and weren't told about these extra exhibits and fees when we walked in, even though we told them we had never been to the museum.

Thomas Williams

It's ok. The hydrofoil was pretty neat. There is some good info here, but nothing great. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

Jacqueline Kalisz

Extensive exhibit with lots of information about the development of the telephone and Bell's keen interest in teaching for the hearing impaired. We participated in the guided Sit&See and were disappointed. We were expecting a guided tour of the museum or a good audio-visual presentation but instead it was a PowerPoint description of the different sections of the museum (including cafe and gift shop). Surprising that this is what is being offered as their paid guided tour.

Richard H

Silver Dart is the main attraction. A must visit for Canadian Aviation enthusiasts.

Kelly McCarthy

What a lovely museum and something for everyone. I learned so much and my kids loved the hands on experience. There is also a nice snack bar and gift shop!

Tamar Drushka Hewitt

We loved this museum-I didn’t know that he had moved here to live sustainably on the land and that he was calling for the reduction of fossil fuels waaay back then. Beautiful spot.

sai kumar

Good Place to Spend for 1-2 hrs. A Small Museum that commemorates the genius and compassion of renowned inventor Alexander Graham Bell.

Michael Valdivielso

It is amazing just how much Alexander Graham Bell did in his lifetime. The museum seems small on the outside but is packed with information and details of this great man's life. Including hundreds of artifacts and items, most of which he invented. It REALLY needs at LEAST half a day to walk through and maybe a whole day to really enjoy. Good for families with older children.

Avery Varnes

The Alexander Graham Bell Museum is always a joy to visit - the staff is well informed, friendly, and I always learn something new about Mr. Bell. The museum itself is spacious and striking, with lots of nooks and crannies for you to explore.

Jamie Kneen

Super interesting and educational, very well presented, and a gorgeous setting. We were there for almost 3 hours and could have stayed longer if we’d had time, flying kites and enjoying the locale.

Letitia C

I learned a lot about Alexander Hraham Bell and his wife. I had no idea he was such an prolific inventor and scientist in so many arenas. I wish there was a but more interactive things for the kids as there was a lot fo reading. As with all Parks Canada sites, definitely do the Xplorers program with your kids while there. They learn a lot and have fun completing the tasks.

Andrew Dawson

An enjoyable visit the museum, sadly the VR wasn't working when I was there, would have been good to try. Museum could do with more interactive visits, but otherwise worth a visit.

Dimitris Protsios

Very nice presentation of all the information about him which I was not aware of except aviation and communications. Graham Bell was so much more! Very nice location, building and surroundings. Plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the views to the lake. Great staff too.

Colin Fisher

Not my favorite national park, but still interesting. Can be visited in less than 2 hours. Nice little kids area, and the exhibits are few, but interesting.

Arthur Ma

Excellent Park Canada historic site. A must see when visiting Cape Breton.

Helen Theresa Bernard

A place to learn about Alexander Graham Bell, Mr. Watson, and his friendship with Helen Keller! Amazing place. Great technology.

Rick Leir

Wow, this is a great museum. I knew that Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, but now I know about his interest in teaching deaf people to speak, and his many hobby inventions.

Chris Cenedese

Lots of great history to read about here. Learned quite a bit. Enjoyed my stay.

Michael Abramczyk

Nice surprise on the way to Halifax! So much information packed into this wonderful museum. Everything was presented excellently.

Jim Rogers

I knew that the man was talented but didn't appreciate his role in flight and developing the hydrofoil. A wonderful museum in a beautiful place.

Dinah Wray

It's a minimal amount to get in, staff are very informative, and the grounds are beautifully kept.

Ryan Nelson

Well worth the stop. AGB was into way more than the telephone. Some great artifacts. You can spend many hours here reading about everything he did. We kept a 7 & 9 year old busy for 2 hours.

sarah kasprzak

This honestly was incredible, waaaay better than I could have imagined. To all of the curators, staff, video team, designers, architects, historians, literally anyone that works there: thank you, and job well done. Such a meaningful visit on a beautiful location with an amazing story, there's really nothing better. It was the highlight of my trip by far, and honestly if I had known how much I would enjoy this museum I probably would have driven the 10 hours I did just for that alone! This. Is. A. Must. See.

Joseph Wan Cheol Kim

Great museum for young kids as well as adults. They pretty thorough route inside the museum to walk around and essentially learn the life that Mr. Bell had taken. They have interesting scavenger hunts and original exhibits of Mr. Bell. Also had displays of airplane models and engines.

Craig Fisher

Excellent presentation of Bell's life and work together with a review of the Bras dor Lake. Interesting to see his works. I particularly liked the full sized airplane.

Gamma Boxer

One of Baddeck's many gems. Well worth the visit.

Eric Ouellette

So much interesting information about this great man and family, as well as his associates and other historical figures and events of the time.

Ginger Anderson

Loved it!! White Glove Tour made the event special. Learned a lot about Mr. And Mrs. Bell and their extraordinary lives.

Christopher Weber

This was a fascinating museum. I learned a lot about Alexander Graham Bell! I didn't realize he was involved with so much. The whole museum takes about an hour to an hour and a half to go through reading all of the placards. There is a gift shop on site, and a place to buy coffee, tea, or cold drinks.

Jimmy yediaz

Awesome place and awesome views. Museum was a great place. Lots of history and amazing displays. Lots of unknown Canadian history explained.

Isuru Marawanagoda

You can learn the history of inventions

Greg White

Great facility but with COVID half of the museum is shut down. At least you get to see the Silver Dart.

Alberto R Sepulveda

Worth checking if you like museums and reading and such. Also the view from there even if you don't go in is worth it.

Ron C.

It's interesting but very scattered and somewhat disorganised. Kids will be bored here as most of the museum involves reading with little effort to keep visitors interested. There is a lot to learn but this place poorly executes a learning experience.

James Gauthier

I've always heard about gentleman while growing up in school. Finally got to go to the park and the museum and definitely enjoyed the place. Lots of amazing history, nice little gift shop and also a little cafe too. Definitely have to check out if your not from the area

Tom M

Quite a rich presentation of a most interesting inventor.

Cheryl Anne

Nice to learn that Mr. Bell also did experiments on the HD5 and HD6 with his assistant and not only with the telephone as he is known as.

Mubarik Ahmad Siddiqui

Very nice place, very informative, lot of knowledge, good for kids exploizer.

Michael Humble

Learned alot about gram bell while visiting the museum. Will return in the future

Darryl Hollett

Great history lesson.

Carol Dauphinee

I haven't visited this place since I was a kid, such an interesting place, the Bells were amazing people. A great family outing, lots to do with children.

Leah D

The museum is very will put together and very interesting. We spent nearly two hours there but you could easily spend longer!

Sanje Ab

Didn't expect such a huge museum. I knew he invented the Telephone but there are pot more than that. Kites, HD4 , experimental breeding and genetics, talking glove for deaf people are some of the interesting things worth spending time with adults and kids. Museum is very well laid off. Landscape is beutiful overlooking the water front.

Anne Flemming

An interesting place if you into history. Because of the COVID, the interactive parts of the museum have been suspended.

Norm Glas

Wow. What an eye opener. This man and family were very busy. This historical site has so much information available. Lots to see and read. A definite check it out!

Caleb Tulloss

so many details and artifacts! the room with his aircraft and watercraft is awesome. don't forget to read up on his sheep genetic experiments...

Danielle Oliver

Really interesting place to explore. He lived a fascinating life and this museum really highlights all of his accomplishment, along with highlighting the beauty of the surrounding area.

General Dexter

I loved going here. The views alone were outstanding. I learned so much from reading about the Bells. Thank you for this eye-opening museum. I never knew the many inventions we're developed in this area.

Stan Sarnocinski

Lots of history you never knew.

John Gallant

Everyone told me to go here. Lots of interesting things but I think the exciting part of the museum must have been closed.

Bronwen Thomas

Beautiful spot. Well set up museum.

Aldon Brewer

Learning about this legend of science and technology was a great way to spend a rainy day in the area. Not a huge collection of exhibits but it is a good way to spend about an hour or so.

sepehr Naeeni

Good to see the history with iconic intelligent models who helped human a big time! Detailed descriptions of him and his family plus little cute room of his belongings.

Dwayne Jones

Wet fall day, no crowd, easily viewed all that interested me. Found out there is more to Mister Bell than I could have imagined. Spectacular story in a spectacular place. Much to spark the imagination here!

John Adler

Very interesting exhibits!

Jérémie Faucher-Goulet

Ok, nothing very exciting considering the wonderful subject they cover. Lots of reading signs, not much to see. Could use a modernization. Is rather small and doesn't take long to visit. Biggest gripe is the awfull French translation everywhere full of mistakes and typos. I was expecting better from a government that promotes bilingualism.

G Ng

A well done museum on a beautiful spot overlooking the water. We learned a lot. Bell seemed to be the definition of an "inventor" contributing more than to the telephone. Staff were great.

Joanne Gross

Educational and fun! Learned lots that we didn't know about AGB before. Kids loved virtual reality. Movie clips were nice. Wish we caught tour.

Bill Wolfe

Worth a stop, very informative. They should do something about controlling the echo and sound. Poor design. Too bad you can't tour the home.

Renata Brandao Alonso

I love the place, but I was hope to see more things about telephone not only airplane.

Nishanth C

There are several little known facts about Alexander Graham Bell, you could find here. It is just a museum and some displays along with a lot of information. If you are a research student you probably need whole day, with small kids they will finish it in 1 hour, an enthusiastic kid will go beyond couple of hours ????. All in all it was an afternoon activity for us. The view from this location is also stunning.

F.Andrew Meunier

A must stop across Cape Breton! Learn how much modern living really came from this man's mind! Creator of the telephone, and one of the few that were so close to first flight. You've got to stop and visit this place.

Sebastian Kluth

Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site is a museum dedicated to the inventions of the man who lived in Baddeck. There is a lot of information available for kids and adults alike. The museum is surrounded by beautiful terraces on a hill that overlook the charming town and its large harbour. The gift shop has quite a few interesting items such as commemorative coins. Visiting this place takes a little bit less than an hour.

Nathan Thomas

Great museum, was super cool to see

Robert Pulse

I took a 100 photographs of the exhibits. He was into many thing that you would not normally associate with him, like hydra boats and Blimp improvements. Just the sheer mass of interest was very impressive, he appears to be very driven to explore new technologies from sheep raising to flying.

Miranda McAughey

So many cool things to learn and to see for sure!

Ben Harvie

Super cool. Beautiful gardens.

Dominic Lacroix

Great museum covering a lot of less known research topics Bell took on throughout his life. Beautiful collection of artifacts. Walking distance from historic picturesque Baddeck.

Our RV Adventures

Must see if on Breton Cape. Very well laid out museum with lots of original artifacts from A Bells inventions and interests.

Chrisby

Great place!!! Very interesting and educational!

LaWanda Harnishfeger

Very informative. You can walk into town from the museum and shop. Beautiful views

Robert Gagnon

Great museum. I liked that there was interaction for kids. Didn't realize he was into so many things.

Jason Gibson

Everything you could possibly need to know about the man! Lots of cool displays. Great for younger kids and more mature audiences, but a little tough to keep tweens and teens interested.

Scott Patterson

If you are interested in the life and accomplishments of A. G. Bell then you must visit this place

Srinivas Reddy -श्रीनिवास

Must visit place. So much about Graham Bell is unknown until we visited this place

P Ferwerda

Informative displays about a very interesting man, his wife, and his family. The staff were friendly. I had injured myself and was able to navigate the displays via a wheelchair they had available without too much difficulty. Worth a visit.

Amit Nandi

A well done museum worth a visit and careful reading. Answers the many questions such as: who really invented the telephone, what did Bell consider his greatest invention, who was the woman behind Bell’s success. The museum could benefit from knowledgeable docents, however. The replica of the silver dart is worth the price of admission alone. At the time of writing it was under $8 CDN.

Usman Qidwai

We visited this museum on our way to cape Breton from Halifax. This museum really showcase the intelligence, wisdom and innovation that Graham Bell brought into this world. It’s places at a very nice town.

Joanna Roberts

Excellently laid out museum. Handicapped accessible. Middle school aged children will enjoy this museum as well. Many areas to sit and watch a video about the aspect of the section of the museum you're visiting.

Mike Kinsella

Amazing facility. Great information about one of the great inventors. Learned so much and I loved the hydrofoil boats.

Kelly Hjort

I Enjoyed this place so much! What a eye opener to a very Historic Figure and his Wife and the things they did for so many people! Allow a couple hours for sure. Thank you to his descendants for sharing so much history!

Lloyd Steeves

A trip back in time. Bell was a very smart man.

Kevin Bryden

Great place to visit I enjoyed the artifacts on display. I was impressed with the history of Bell and his inventions

Michael Davidson

Growing up in Canada I knew that Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. But what I didn't know was all the other amazing things he had done. It was clear he had an amazing mindset and was always trying to learn new things and make new things. Definitely a lot of information and inspiration here to see and hear about.

harim kamari

Wonderful place of Canadian history. Lots of information. Also having the tesla charging station is a perfect hangout for ev car owners.

Katherine Ogden

I am so amazed by the work this man did. He was truly ahead of his time. The site does a clear and thorough job of presenting the many facets of Bell's work. We liked having the Explorer booklets for the kids to complete but it was geared a bit more toward an older child. I wish I had more time!

Nicole Hankey

Alexander Graham Bell is so much more then the guy who invented the telephone. He is fascinating. We spent 2 hours here learning about him and his fellow inventors. His wife was amazing as well. Well worth the time if you like this kind of history. Baddeck is a cute little town.

S F

I learned much here. Beautiful view.

Amit Shinde

Historic site with lots of historic artifacts. Make sure you have atleast 3 hours to explore all the displays and to read history behind each of them. Museum is located at one of the best locations in Canada. A must visit place if you are visiting Cape Breton.

Jenn Wile

Lots of staff, friendly enough but unclear on their purpose other than seeming like security which is awkward. Nice exhibits. More interactive would be better. Simulators were roped off out-of-use right now. Auditoriums were not running. Gift shop was cute, prices not out-of-this-world. Admission should really be discounted when the place isn't all open. Booklets for the kids to interact more though.

Leonid Chukhovsky

Something for every age group - very well done with a lot of photos, models, interesting details from that time, one can learn a lot. It's also not huge, I would think 2 hours should be enough to enjoy it, surrounding park offers nice views, free parking.

Luke Misurka

Pretty cool place. There's a lot more to Bell than I knew and this place does a great job of showcasing it all. The silver dart exhibit is pretty impressive .

Michael Clayville

Informative and entertaining! Great activities for kids and excellent exhibits for adults.

Learned a lot about AGB that I was completely unaware of. Working with the deaf and his hydrofoil work were impressive. Views were beautiful as well.

James Klaassen

This museum is a very interesting place to visit. The displays are well laid out and I found them very interesting. The write ups offered lots of information on Alexander Graham Bell's life. A must visit!

Philomena Jagula

Brenda Blair

Interesting place and beautiful location!

Haleem Chowdhury

A lovely little museum in a pristine town of Baddeck. A little hiddem gem that offers a fair amount of excitement and knowledge for a young family.

KC

Great little museum showing unique artifacts from all facets of Bell's life. Neat full sized replicas of the Silver dart and a hydroplane boat

Vincent Buker

Fascinating and interactive exhibit of inventions, models and prototypes from the inventor of the telephone. My 4.5year old son had a great time.

Norman de Bellefeuille

One of the best museums I've visited and it sets the record straight on just how influential and supportive his wife Mabel was in his work.

Cat Genest

This was great learning experience in a beautiful setting. I am throughly impressed at how wheelchair friendly this museum is. A must see in the region!

Clinton B

So much potential is lost if you don't take a tour. Facility is confusing in layout and easily loses ability to convey the importance to his many great inventions. Please add water fountain, orientate rooms to connect to each other instead of dead ends, and sell tetrahedrons in your gift shop!

De Mera

Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Well laid out museum with a lot of artifacts and information about Alexander Graham Bell, his life and his accomplishments besides just the telephone. Over all a good experience.

Darlene Nichol

Interesting to see. Do to Covid alot of things closed

Chris Rose

Incredibly fascinating. I could have spent more time there but we had a long drive ahead of us. It's interesting to see how many cool inventions Bell was involved with. I had no idea Bell was involved in aviation, I thought he was just the 'phone guy'! I'd like to return and spend more time.

perry romard

What a great place to go and really learn things about AG Bell that you may have never known before. Replicas of flying machines and hydrofoils that will enchant you and amaze you! Enjoyable!

Ananth Pai

Got learn many things about the great scientist

James M

Good museum - fascinating insight to Alexander Bell and his inventions. Didn't realise that he was so helpful towards the deaf. BUT - the two public telephones outside were out of order - and the out of order signs are old. THIS IS THE MUSEUM FOR THE GUY THAT INVENTED THE TELEPHONE!! Fix them if you respect the guy.

Nancy Sloan

Building seemed a little warm. Outside area was beautiful with all the plants and location. Lots of interesting information about Mr. Bell.

Peter Gamblin

Well worth visiting, absolutely facinating, fabulous displays. Wish i had had more time to spend there. Great building beautiful grounds.

Mairi MacDonald

Amazing Staff! Wonderful experience everytime I go! Good for kids with interactive activity books, and kites, and a kids keep sake key chain! Check hours! Great photo spot and Baddeck in wonderful to explore.

Rainbow The Macaw

By far one of the best museums I have ever visited. Well worth spending a day here.

Sharanya Prasad

Great place, great staff and stunning surroundings

Mandy Olsen

The museum has a very detailed exhibit about his life and work. There was an experiment being taught which my son loved. The grounds are beautiful, overlooking Bras d'Or lake.

thehalligantool !

If you have kids the highlight is kite building! Pre-register to guarantee your spot. The museum itself is quite small, and you can go through it in about an hour or less, depending on how long you spend reading each exhibit. The grounds are also quite nice and there are a few electric vehicle charging stations for those that might need it.

Larry Lanthier

Fascinating visit. Totally amazed with his life. The invention of the telephone was such a small part of what he achieved.

Laudav Hutcheon

Incredible man! Very educational.

Tamara Morley

Very beautiful.

Wanda Profit

Loved it!! So full of information

Aaron C

Fascinating exhibits, we learned so much about this incredible individual. Plenty of artifacts to see, including a reproduction of one of Bell's airplanes - we didn't even know he was involved in flight! Definitely worth visiting.

ryzur321

Too bad some of the exhibits were down due to. Covid-19 but that's understandable. Still a very educational and interesting experience!

Pierre-Luc Pineault

Really interesting museum, bigger than I thought. A couple pieces you can interact with (An old switchboard, a "mystery box" and couple other things). There was a short film about the kites/planes which was nice. The most interesting part was the "White Gloves" experience, where you're taken to a secret room and can handle old original artifacts from Alexander Bell. The lady was extremely helpful.

George MacLean

More information about Bell than I thought possible! It's an interesting walk through for those who are interested in his history and contributions to the world. Not something I'd go out of my way to visit, but if you are in the area, you can easily spend a few hours here.

Joseph Vallo

A worthwhile stop if you are in the region and enjoy the history of innovation. The displays and timelines clearly present Bell's many contributions. I appreciate how the museum gives credit to those Bell worked with on the inventions and Mabel's influence throughout his life.

James Fleming

A wonderful museum that chronicles Bells life, his many inventions and his life in Cape Breton. If you like history dont miss it, youll be amazed at what he invented and is on display.

Elaine

This is informative and adds a personal feel to Bell, his associates and family. Amazing inventor and his wife was such an integral part of his career. Take your time going through, it's worth it.

Thomas Bollmann

We'll worth the visit. There is so much more to this man than the telephone.

Khaled Hasan

A nice and cozy historic museum which should be in a must visit list.

Karl Larsen

Wish we had more time there, showed up 45 minutes before closing and was told that was enough time, but in all reality it was not, there is so much to read and see, would've like another half hour to 45 minutes. It was very informative and interesting. The setting of the building was in a very nice spot as well. Really enjoyed it.

Michael Doyle

Just amazing to learn more about the man and the many aspects of life he was involved in. Very worthwhile to go through the museum

Gwen Rudderham

Great place, lot's to be learned.

Chris Asprey

We didn't go inside as it was closed. We were there looking for the Great Trail Treasure. It had an amazing view of the Baddeck Lighthouse. We took some pictures in the Red Chairs too. You can get on the roof for a picnic or to relax.

Anne Pelletier

Fabulous! Loved learning about Bell and his family, their time in Nova Scotia, and all of his inventions and ideas - well beyond the telephone.

Philip V

Such an interesting museum! I had no idea that Alec Bell invented so many things, or did the very first flight in Canada in 1909! And Mabel Bell was so remarkable herself with her leadership in Baddeck. The airplane and hydrofoil are both amazing.

Joyce Karagiannis

Very educational museum, much larger than I expected.

La Femme Fatale +

Such a great place to visit. Alexandr Graham Bell was a fascinating person.

C R

So far into my nova Scotia hollyday its the best ive seen ..way better than the cabot trail.. I loved it im going again before i leave the area

Trish Sullivan

We popped in with only a short amount of time to spend. I was so surprised to learn as much as I did. Mr. Bell was a smart and creative man - I had no idea of the breadth of his involvement in so many different things: phones, flights, x-rays, teaching the deaf, and it goes on. Well executed, inexpensive for families, an architecturally interesting building and a stunning view: worth a stop for sure.

Juli Clark

I was impressed with this museum. Learned a lot about AGB that my school books left out. Very interesting man.

Mike Younger

Very cool history, the man was into alot of things! Well worth the time

The Clearys

Our first time there. Fun for everyone in the family. Friendly staff. Lots to learn and see.

Infinerdy

Extensive collection of artifacts in historical context tell the stories of Alexander Graham Bell as inventor, teacher, collaborator and benefactor of the scientific community. While most associate Bell with the telephone, this museum reminds all of his contributions to sound recording, aviation and hydrodynamics that still benefit the fields today. The museum celebrates the inventions and endeavoors of Bell's associates and family as well as the personal history. The exhibits focus on the significance of the technologies, whether they be commercial successes thus making this museum an education rather a personal tribute.

George Visintin

What a brilliant mind and interesting life exhibited here. Well worth the visit.

Eric Garland

Learned much about this notable figure of history. If you can be sure and sign up for the white glove tour.

Rob Noble-Eddy

The life of Alexander Graham Bell is interesting and ford beyond the telephone, but the museum is a little old school.

David Talbot

Excellent mix of reading material and artifacts in this larger than expected museum. We were able to breeze through it fairly quickly but I imagine you could probably spend 2-3 pleasurable hours in the building. Very nice grounds make great photo ops.

Mike Wolf

Amazing museum they have lots of very interesting and unique artifacts and inventions. I thought I knew quite a bit about Alexander Graham Bell until I came here. It has a bit of a strange layout inside but there is a very helpful map and extremely pleasant and knowledgable staff. Museum is run by Parks Canada so very easy to deal with and there are bilingual (French and English) staff on site. Very worthwhile experience and lots of good knowledge about all his various inventions.

Greg Sparling

Great place for the kids & adults! Was surprised at how much there was to do & learn.

Dani C

Nice, very informative place in both French and English. Staff are very helpful, and there's nice places to rest and explore around the building.

Ashok Joshi

Really enjoyed the museum. Lot more to Alexander Graham Bell than what we are taught in school.

Arnold De Mings

When you visit here don't be in a hurry. There is a lot to see and you can learn a lot if you read the information they are sharing. Mr. Bell was involved in many famous inventions.

Robert Boulter

Very interesting museum. I had visited before over 30 years ago. Worth the return trip, but not as impressed as I was the first time.

Frank DeAngelis

Its okay. Their really isn't an enormous amount of memorabilia here compared to other museums I've been to. The displays were interesting but nothing that would make you say "wow" or would be a lasting memory. Just a nice little museum tucked into the woods in a beautiful setting. The view from the roof is excellent. Considering its a "1 man show i.e. Alexander Bell" I think they did about as much as they possibly could to make things interesting. Credit to them for what they've accomplished.

Abby van der Jagt

Was closed when we arrived but the view was worth a stop. Definitely would have liked to spend more time in Baddeck, it's a cute little town! The National historic site had great gardens and well manicured lawn, great signage and well kept look off area with chairs and benches. Looked like there was lots and lots of parking.

Teri G.

Very informative, well laid out. Good value for the price

Vikki Pink

I came here because I passed the entrance and had no idea Alexander graham bell lived here or had any history here. I forget the admission price but it was worth it for what you got. If you take your time and read to exhibit items and check things out (during COVID) takes about 1.5 hours. I say this because it seems there was other exhibits that were currently closed due to COVID. clean, easy to get through and lots of social distance space. Cute gift shop, and they have parks Canada gift gear at the front entrance as well. Staff was friendly and engaging, really wanted you to get your education on. It was great to learn about his life and accomplishments. Made me reflect on my life and want to contribute more, as he made so many advancements and inventions in his time on earth. Wonderful human to learn about. Parking is clearly marked and there is decent amount of spots.

Shelly johnston

Well worth visiting! Very interesting!

scoot crew

The picture I took was an unknown figure in the tree ,very different.

donald mac intyre

Great museum. Fantastic staff , very well informed and very friendly. Another must see place when you visit Cape Breton.

L Tan

The exhibition is a bit shorter than expected but quite interesting. Beautiful view from the museum.

Kathryn Seville

Never knew alexander Bell did so much in hisl ifetime. Excellent

Karen B

Getting to know more about Alexander Graham Bell and his many accomplishments was so interesting. Seeing the history of the phone that we take so much for granted was worth the visit. Icing on the cake was the 2009 replica of the first powered plane that flew in North America, flying in 2009 on the 100tj anniversary of powered aviation.

Judy Williams

It was amazing to see just what was contributed to our advancement...so much more than we realize! Very well put together & extremely interesting...

Ron Pereira

Wonderful visit, totally unexpected stop on the way to the Cabot Trail. I can see why Bell loved this place.

J Litt

Very interesting and informative if you like history and inventive milestones. Lots of reading but worth it. for awareness, may not hold younger kids interest.

greg opalka

Very informative and laid out. Alex was quite the dude. Smart too, to make Baddeck a second home as well as the countless contributions to furthering our society.

Steve Ranni

Wow, so much history. Really worth the visit. Be sure to ask the staff about the Bells home and his burial site. To know that the family descendants live in the community is also very cool.

Chris Fletcher

Amazing exhibit. You truly discover what a fabulous person Mr. Graham Bell really was. Great layout and well maintained by the folks from Parks Canada.

The Wild Life

Great display of Canadian history. Very knowledgeable staff

Bill B

If you want to learn about one of the great minds on Canada then take the time to see this museum. Wonderful

Mayank Vg

Nearly organized and we'll maintained. The entry is about $8 CAD for an adult and every stage of Mr. Bell is explained.

Frank Fontecilla

Well curated exhibits. We learned a lot. A must see if you're in the area.

Rebecca Melsheimer

Great museum packed full of information about Bell. It explored what he was involved in after the telephone like flying and hydrofoils.

Andrew Scott (ScottyMarkoti)

Lighting was awful, Graham Bell needs to design the museum and help out Parks Canada. Lighting is a huge problem for people being hard of sight. Excellent museum but hard to enjoy with all of the squinting and inconsistent color schemes.

M G

Very friendly and inviting. Limited features due to Covid. Lots of info, but not overly exciting for younger kids.

May Zhagro

Great museum to visit and learn more about the founder of the telephone and other ingenious inventions. Lots of parking spaces available and is a good rainy weather activity for the family. Unfortunately some exhibits were closed due to Covid, but overall it was an educational experience. Entrance fee is included as part of your Parks Canada pass.

Tim Rostrup

Very interesting. Bell was an extremely busy man. I was expecting a small one room gallery so this exceeded all expectations. Baddeck's setting is pretty.

Barb Chapman

So interesting! Didn't know that Alexander's interests were so varied. Be sure to listen to the audiovisual accounts from his daughters, granddaughter, and locals. Kites available to fly for free!

ScottDCS

Beautiful flowers as you approach, with hummingbirds and dragonflies flitting around. We were there for about an hour, as there is a lot to read. Super interesting learning about this very compassionate, brilliant man. There is a gift shop, and small cafe inside. I enjoyed seeing his "speed boat" and all the other inventions.

Christine Glogowski

Beautiful displays inside. Very interesting. The grounds and views outside are beautiful as well.

Deborah Sampson

Lovely grounds and building but it is not where Bell's home was. Very dark inside and loaded with tour bus crowds clogging up the flow of walking through the exhibits....and we were there off season....exhibits are good but a bit pedestrian. Glad we went once but wont go back.

brittney grondin

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Quite large and was quite interesting. Would also be lovely after covid as there was a cafe and outdoor tables but they were closed.

Sam deZ

A really interesting and informative place. Learnt alot about AG Bell and his life. Was good for the kids too. There were children's programs where they had to do tasks to get a souvenirs. This kept the kids involved. There were kite flying event on the day we were there and the children had a good time flying them. A great place to spent a couple of hours with family.

Sean Mahoney

The Atlantic Provinces of Canada are well worth a visit. Alex Bell's home was close to this museum...can't visit the home but this museum makes a good effort of telling you about the man and his life.

Rondise Watson

Learned about a portion of Alexander Graham Bells life that had not been informed of in school. Very well done exhibits.

Kj Savage

Great way to learn about Bell's legacy and developments in aviation, hearing and speech therapy, and the obvious communications...

Ausra Dapkus

Very impressed with both the staff and the displays. I never realized what a genius Alexander Graham Bell was and how much he invented or how much he helped others. This museum is definitely worth a visit.

Brian Anthony

Great for history bluffs and family alike. Well maintained with immaculate grounds and a beautiful view of the Bras for lakes. Quaint shire town alongside with wonderful restaurants to enjoy local cuisine and wines

Joel Ledford

Very impressive museum! I had no idea how much Bell was involved in! Also a great view of Bras d'Or Lake right in front of the museum.

Keshav Prasad

Highly informative and educational. Wonderful atmosphere. Kids had fun flying kites afterwards. Learned so much about Bell, famous for so much more than the telephone.

Christine B

Was a good museum. A lot of reading but was interesting. Very well mapped out for easy tourist flow. Never felt crowded.

Wilma Haas

Thoroughly enjoyed this museum. More interactive exhibits would have netted an additional star.

Richard Murray

A very intetesting and insightful museum that presents the many aspects of Bell's inventive life across many fields of endeavor.

Chris Watso

A museum about the achievements of an amazing man. The museum gives you a more thorough glimpse into the other achievements beyond the telephone that Mr and Mrs Bell worked on.

Patrick Ip

Very informative museum about Alexander Graham Bell. He was more than just the inventor of the telephone. Worth a visit if you're in Baddeck.

Karen Swineamer

Very friendly staff. Exhibits were displayed very nicely

Stan Levenger

Very, very well done museum with many actual Bell devices, tools, and models. Surprised at the size of the museum and easy to read factoid historical boards. Very comprehensive review of both personal and professional life. Many historical facts were new to me including his work with hydrofoils, aviation and most importantly work with the deaf. Apparently he was instrumental in developing the silent alphabet as well as pioneering training for the deaf. He even worked with Helen Keller.

Gerard Macgean

It was nice and they a scavenger hunt for kids.

Rich Kopanke

If you enjoy history then you would love to take your family to this place. It's a great story of Bell and his contributions. Don't miss it if you are in the area!

Ernest Shediac

We enjoyed ourselves, clean space, really interesting exhibits. Great staff. Wonderful place for to spend and hour and a half.

Susan Jordan

Loved it. Be sure to go to the "slide show" about the Bell family for a charming and entertaining history. Yes, pay a little tiny fee for this. It was lots of fun and very informative.

Devin Broome

Excellent staff, interesting exhibits and overall a fun time. My daughter loves her free kite they give out to the little people ????

Victor Duckering

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We learned a lot about Alexander Bell and his wife Mabel that we did not know before. Very informative and well worth a visit. We also loved the location--Baddeck is a beautiful little town. We can understand why Mr. Bell moved his family there.

d bart

Neet little museum with alot of interesting facts about Alexander Graham Bell. Much more stuff to go through than I expected and we'll with the visit

Robert Snyder

We learned a great deal about A.G. Bell and his accomplished wife during our visit. Never knew that he was such a multitalented man. The AR experience was an added treat.
