My aunt passed away in the beginning of May this year. We were able to have her funneral arrangements sorted out in a couple of days and the ceremony took place a week later. During this difficult time, the staff made it easier and stress-free. They answered every single one of our questions and even brought up questions and points that we would never have thought to ask or to think about. The way they conducted themselves was respectful, patient, and were empathetic. Their attention to detail and thoroughness in their process made them very easy to work. It was a easy and smooth process during this difficult time and we really appreciate what they've done for our family.

This is always a tough subject to plan for but this company has the BEST person to put you at ease and plan well. His name is Yao Sen Yang, and he has got to be one of the best sales people I've experienced in Canada. He is through, empathetic, professional, extremely prompt, caring and NOT pushy at all. Best of all, he can find humour in pre-planning a funeral, which always helps when discussing a sensitive topic. I highly recommend speaking to Yao when your pre-planning need arises.

My Mom lived until 102 years old. She prepared her funeral 40 years ago, in a different city, and with a different funeral home. She was grandfathered into this one. I know this couldn't have been an easy contract to fulfill. So much had changed, but Christa made it so so so easy for me. She's kind, engaging, efficient and flexible. She was reassuring and warm. I'm so very grateful. If I could give more stars I would.

My father passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2020. It’s very sad ,shock ...... I totally have no idea how to figure out all issues I have to face. Fortunately, my close friend introduced Mr. Yang (his name is Yang, Yao sen which combines my parents name) to me. My fiend said he is very reliable , helpful, trustworthy from her parents-in-Law’s service many years ago. Now I’d like to confirm “yes, He is”. He is very very very professional , effective and helpful. Honestly, my English is ok. While for this new area especially I have been in such blue mood, somebody who can speak Mandarin to explain every tiny details for me is significant. Many appreciations can’t express how much appreciation I want to say. Thanks for the group of Richmond Funeral Home. Especially , thanks Mr. Yang. I call him XIAO YANG. I can’t imagine how I can get through this tough time smoothly if without Mr. Yang’s help.

FIVE STAR-PLUS LIFE EXPERIENCE: First of all, my most humble belated apologies to all of the Richmond FH staff for the apparent delay in submitting this review: you folks deserve better from this (pre-COVID 19) customer. SPOILER ALERT: healing takes time... Secondly--and especially for the benefit/reference of future clients--the staff at RFH truly went the extra distance when it came to having to address the funeral services/options following my father's passing last fall (Sept 2019). Following a thorough, logical but very empathetic first appointment, Erin & Terry helped our family to deal with most of the important details leading to what was eventually requested: a low-key but dignified and timely cremation. Great understanding and empathy of the salient cultural background/practices, cannot emphasize this enough! FYI: To spare yourselves of the 'heavy emotion' of this inevitable task, please, please make the effort and apply the time to consult with the Richmond FH staff AHEAD OF TIME...by thoughtfully planning/committing to such a final service appointment up front, will make the subsequent follow-up considerably easier for all, especially during this challenging COVID-19 time! Thirdly, RFH went well above the call of duty in the subsequent follow-up to their service policy/pkg. Towards this end an honorable mention has to go to Christa as well in helping our family to close one chapter and move forward to the next one in life. Finally--RFH has made a practice to host a very poignant annual collective memorial/celebration of sorts towards year end that we were invited to attend. In spite of the broader timing, I felt this was very very worthy, well organized, a very thoughtful gesture of goodwill especially during the Christmas season, and especially during that 'year of firsts'. Again, many many humble thanks to Erin and her team...the city of Richmond/Vancouver should be so fortunate to provide a service that we'll likely never fully appreciate. But this is one person who is grateful for the experience. Be calm be courteous and be safe to all--in 2020 & beyond...!

My siblings and I had a horrific experience when we hired this company 6 years ago when our father passed away. It has taken me years to speak out about it because i was so traumatized. They were very unprofessional in how they handled the financial aspect of the whole process, leaving us stressed and unable to properly grieve our father’s dearh. To all the families out there that are considering this company, it is only fair that you hear an honest testimonial from someone who has been in your position before and that is why I am posting this. Dealing with this company was the worst decision we made in our father’s passing. They were unsympathetic, unprofessional and very unorganized. Looking back, it is obvious that they were more concerned about making a sale rather than providing us with the support we needed. The worst part is that they called us at the 5 year mark of our father’s passing to try to “sell us” more services and products after we openly complained about our horrific experience with them. They clearly did nothing to try to resolve the situation, not even a simple note in our file. I find it disgusting and will never recommend this business to anyone. Our needs were not met and they did absolutely nothing to resolve our problems.

We saw my mother off at Richmond Funeral Home, where the environment and service were excellent. The layout of the waiting room, mother’s makeup,and the considerate service throughtout made her funeral go smoothly, which was a great comfort to us in our sorrow! Both of my parents passed away in 2020, 11 weeks apart. My funeral advisor both times, Christa, treated each service as unique and personalized to match my requests.
