Our family was very impressed by the kindness and compassion that Eden and his team had while we dealt with our loss. The services they provided before, during and after the funeral were helpful and caused us no unnecessary stress. Their chapel is very spacious and the pricing was very competitive with one of the south side Edmonton "discount" facilities. I attended a viewing at this funeral home, it was cramped and chaotic in the narrow hallways and there was no room to mingle together as a group. At Southside, you are greeted with an open church-like foyer and chapel with plenty of places to sit down. I believe that when we celebrate a funeral we should have good memories of our loved ones and not have regrets on the venue and services we received. I would highly recommend SouthSide Memorial Chapel ! Thank you Eden and Team!

Words cannot express how much I appreciate Eden and his team in helping us to celebrate my beloved mother's life. We had the funeral prearranged years ago when she moved to home. It really helped me to cope with the stress and the pain of emotional loss. Eden is a very compassionate, professional and highly organized person. A BIG thumb up. The warm and comfort of the building is another welcoming figure of this funeral home. It must have the best natural light of all the funeral homes in Edmonton.

I am an artist and creator based out of Edmonton, my experience with South Side therefore has been "untraditional" as they were gracious enough to be the venue for a play I'm currently workshopping. Working with Eden and Heather was amazing! I truly respect their commitment to the community. Their support of artists and artistic endeavours absolutely is not only outstanding, but also heartwarming. Spending time in the chapel was truly a treat, the atmosphere there is so positive and welcoming, which can certainly be attributed to the people who work there.

They are so busy & yet they take time to give our estimators info on the needs of their managed bldgs (ie energy optimization & reduction of sickness/absenteeism by promoting a healthier indoor environment). I wish I could give South Side Memorial a higher rating but unfortunately the overall experience was poor. Long story short, the staff are disorganized and do not communicate with each other. We had multiple funeral directors deal with us throughout the process (we had a main director with others filling in at times) and they didn't seem to keep each other in the loop with what was happening. Also, one of the funeral directors handled a situation during the visitation unprofessionally. There was an issue with an attendee not showing their proof of vaccination. (I understand that the funeral home needs to follow government restrictions and rules, that wasn't the issue.) The issue was that the funeral director came barging into the building and the visitation room loudly asking where this issue person was, without first speaking with his staff about the situation and who the person specifically was. This director disrupted not only people having their own conversations but those that were trying to have a quiet, grieving moment in the visitation room. Very unprofessional in my opinion and the rest of the family's opinion. Our loved one that passed away was receiving government assistance (AISH) with the funeral costs and we were trying to keep other costs low. Since we had to go through the process with AISH, it may have had a factor into how we were treated. I have dealt with Glenwood Funeral home (Arbor Memorial's Sherwood Park location) many times for other family members and had a great experience there. So I thought and expected to have a better experience at South Side Memorial.

If your reading this there is a good chance you are suffering the loss of a loved one like I was. Hiring South Side Memorial Chapel was the only easy part of our family's loss. The chapel was warmly lit & has a nice welcoming atmosphere. Eden was very professional, transparent, empathetic, & knowledgeable. My family was treated with dignity and respect. South Side Memorial Chapel were very accommodating for all of the things we had requested in our service. I would recommend trusting your family members with Eden & his team if you are in need of a funeral home. During the planning there were items/tasks brought up and discussed that were not even something we thought of, it was almost like having a first timers guide to holding a service for a loved one.
