Losing a parent is a difficult and at times, an overwhelming life event. Martin Brothers Funeral Services are to be commended for the compassion and professionalism bestowed upon us. After the initial consultation we decided to have funeral cards made. The card created reflected care and attention to hear and understand words spoken during grief. Martin Brothers has been my family's go-to funeral home since before I was born. My Mom's funeral in 1976 was the first one in which I took part in the planning. There have been many more since that first one and each time the wonderful staff of MB have been caring, supportive and patient, no matter how many times we changed our minds. Over the years our family funerals have become less traditional and Martin Brothers staff have been open to every new idea we came up with. A relative of mine passed away this past week. Imagine my surprise to see her funeral COVERED in the Martin Bros LOGO. From the pins "in remembrance" to HER MEMORIAL PHOTO. Disgusting, poor taste, and just plain wrong. I work in a business that specializes in shameless self promotion, but even we have a line. Thanks for trivializing the memory of a family member so you could work some "subtle marketing" in. It was enough to remind me of who you were so I could post this review.

Martin Brothers was the funeral home that my mom Susan Hurlbut wished to go when she passed away. That decision was made about 7 years ago. Knew a few people that had chosen Martin Brothers to do their funeral services. The experience I had with Martin Brothers was excellent with Sandy ,Shelly as well as the gentlemen who came to collect her from our home. I would highly recommend them. Very professional and gave a us a Great Day for Susan's memorial service. I think Susan would have been very pleased with the service we received. Martin Brothers took care of everything. I liked that they used black limousines as well. I definitely would highly recommend Martin Brothers to friends and family. I don't know how Martin Brothers could have served us any better. Our family has had quite a journey of loss over the past 5 years - lost my husband to ALS- my uncle to heart disease and my mom to cancer in the past 2 years. Knowing the journey we had and the overwhelming journey - it was so important to have people who we knew like family to look after our journey with the funeral of our loved ones. Every wish and concern was dealt with the upmost if importance. I remember meeting with Sandy on the day I lost Gerard and I knew with the heartfelt compassion we were going to get through the last part of our journey because they cared so much about our family. Will never ever be able to say thank you enough or find the words to describe how grateful we were for everything they did for our family. And with all that we went through and knowing such a great group of people it brought me to my new path in my life and I now have the honour of working with such a great family. Genuine staff, step by step help and an experience to help ease the pain and suffering when you lose a loved one. Martin Brothers I thank you. My experience with Martin Brothers started when my mother had very little time left with us. I initially called Martin Brothers to ask a couple of question and perhaps schedule an appointment to discuss the different option of cremation. I spoke with Sandy. Not only did Sandy answer my questions, over the phone, in the most respectful and helpful manner but also offered for me to stop by and pick up some literature that could help me prepare and answer further questions. This was about 10 min before their "closing" time. When I arrived, she had a folder of information waiting for me and was patient enough to answer any questions I might have. 2 days later my mother passed and Martin Brothers were respectful, friendly and extremely professional from escorting my mother from St Mike's to the funeral home. They took great care of her in the days until her cremation and helped me every step of the way to ensure that my moms wishes were respected. The greatest thing was the small unexpected touches that my mother would have loved. The rose we found on her bed after they moved her body. The lovely floral arrangements and casket for the viewing. The fact that every staff member was genuine and caring with every interaction. It's never an easy time in a persons life but somehow they seemed to ease the burden. That ease can never truly be explained but I promise you, you will appreciate all the extra effort. From Sandy to Shelley, beginning to end, and all the helpful staff up front, from the bottom of my brothers hearts and mine. Thank you.

From the moment I walked through the door, Lisa Shimozawa made me feel welcome, safe, and comfortable. She was extremely compassionate and made the painful process of saying goodbye to my mom under the added difficult circumstances with Covid restrictions as easy as possible. She made herself available anytime for questions and she communicated and followed up quickly. From the added personal touches, like asking what mom’s favourite flowers were and including them on her memory card, to the beautiful memorial display at the front of the chapel, and the wonderful job live-streaming the service for friends and family who could not attend, the entire service went above and beyond my expectations. Brittany Kempe was very sweet, and lovely to deal with in making sure mom’s pictorial tribute was flawless and Shelley Thom was fantastic in giving us guidance for all the difficult government, legal, and financial things that come along after the loss of a loved one. Overall, the team at Martin Brothers made us feel valued, and like family. I would definitely recommend them to make the farewell process more bearable.

We have lost many many family members in the last years living in Lethbridge. They have always handled all funerals with dignity and kindness. My sister is a funeral director there, and she has had to help with her own father, brother and grandma when they have passed. I’m not too sure how she does it, but she remains headstrong in her guidance for all our funerals. I will always send my friends and family to Sandy, because I know she will give them lots of professional and personal help with their loved ones.

My mother sadly passed away in June of 2021. Heartbroken for the second time, we returned to Martin Brothers to plan a beautiful and well deserved service in her honor. Lisa was our funeral director and she was compassionate, considerate, gentle and extremely personable. (Lisa is someone whom our family would want to stay in touch with).
