What can I say about this funeral home? Supposed good reputation but I couldn't find anything that they did right. No compassion over the phone when calling to inquire about a recent tragedy. No guidance during the visitation the day before the funeral. Nobody was waiting for the family and they had to search for over ten minutes to find someone to help them. No coordination with the cemetery to establish what the provincial guidelines are and how to follow them. No guidance on a system on how to move people in a proper fashion to abide by current restrictions. No information whatsoever for the funeral procession. Half the people got stickers, nobody was told to hold the line and that you are allowed to run reds when in a funeral procession line. Procession leader went the wrong way - supposedly said 17th Avenue was closed but probably got lost, because 17th Avenue was definitely not closed. Everyone who got cut out of the line arrived 15-20 minutes before the actual procession. The gentleman guiding the pal bearers couldn't even do the family the courtesy of brushing his teeth - you could smell his breath from 15 feet away. What exactly are you guys charging over 10k for? Surely you can pay your staff enough so they can buy a toothbrush. The family would have been better off with a funeral home that actually cares about the people that come through their doors, and not just looking to take massive amounts of money during the most vulnerable time the family will experience in their lives. A genuinely shameful display of guidance, structure, respect and due diligence on both parts of the funeral home and cemetery. The fact that the reviews are so positive is shocking, and perhaps the unlucky streak of the family continued for them to get such poor treatment. Horrible.

Unfortunately, I was left uncomfortable with all the paperwork that was not completed properly and delay after delay. Although my family caused some issues after it was sorted out, the funeral home still did not complete their tasks and the left hand did not know what the right hand was doing or had been done. Its been over two months and my dealings with Evan J. Strong Services are still not complete and no one has an answer. In this difficult time, they were not supportive in the end. They were however helpful at the church and did a wonderful job on the deceased.

Not wonderful, kind of expensive for what it was. I really believe funeral homes take advantage of people when they're hurting. Didn't really help with planning the service, only really broke down prices and what is and is not included. the tissues were thin and sand-papery. I know they must go through a lot, but for how expensive a funeral is, I would expect better. Their hall was not a great place for the service either, their probably better at services in a church but if you want the funeral at not-a-church, maybe try elsewhere. edit- Also my sisters boyfriend spent 5 hours scanning pictures of my mother to be played on a projector during the service, but that unfortunately did not happen and the people working there were not very helpful as we found out later that all that needed to be done was to switch the input on the device.

This past August, August 2018, I lost my 23 year old brother to suicide. This was the absolute hardest thing my parents and I have every been through and the wonderful people at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services made it a little easier. We had the pleasure of working with mostly Joseph and a woman who did the trifolds and photos (I can't remember her name and I'm terribly sorry for that). Joseph helped us find the perfect woman to lead Zac's Celebration of Life ceremony, they handled the unexpected addition of over 50 people, helped with the burial arrangements and they worked through their breaks to make sure that my family and I got through the day. I can't thank them enough for all they did and I can't recommend this Funeral Home enough. Saying Goodbye to loved ones isn't supposed to be easy, but the teams at Evan J. Strong Funeral Sevices made it a little more bearable.

The first time I spoke with Kurtis, I knew we found the right person and funeral home to deal with. He went above and beyond, which you rarely see anymore, in customer service. Kurtis also went through everything in great detail and answered all my questions. I was very appreciative to all of the other staff, who were very pleasant and efficient. They had a beautiful online obituary of our Mother, including music, which was created almost immediately. 6 weeks ago our son took his life, he was in Calgary Alberta we were in Baxter Ontario, we called Evan J Strong. They took care of everything, they guided us through the steps needed. We had to drive the 3400klm to Calgary and throughout this trip they kept in touch with us. They helped us through this with compassion, patience and professionalism. When we got there we arranged to pick up our sons ashes his girlfriend was to take some also, we were greeted and guided to a private room where the business of paperwork took place, this was also dealt with in the same way explaining step by step what had to be done for our grandchildren. I cannot say enough about Evan Strong Funeral Services. My husband died extremely suddenly 5 days before this last Christmas. We wanted to have his funeral before Christmas Day for the sake of the family. I was not able to really plan anything nor were my family as we were in such shock. Kurtis from Evan Strong took care of everything and was so kind and understanding of our grief.During the planning process, Evan Strong himself called to ensure we had everything we needed. Various staff members also assisted us for items such as funeral cards, etc. They assisted us in arranging with a wonderful company to have live streaming of the service because of the COVID restrictions. I am writing this review now because the internment will take place this week, and Evan Strong will be there to support us even though it is 4 months since the funeral. Evan Strong and his entire staff were persistently courteous and professional in their interaction with us. There was no sense of "high pressure salesmanship" or urgency about their presentations - in fact they were always happy to accommodate our requests, even when we had difficulty making decisions or changed our minds about the arrangements which we were planning. They answered telephone calls and e-mails promptly thus ensuring timely communication during the stressful period of funeral planning. They also attended to the submission and procurement of certain official documents, an additional service that relieved us of the necessity of doing so. Evan took care of mom's funeral matter personally and offered excellent service with a cost that others cannot compete. Our whole family would definitely recommend Evan to our family and friends. Evan is experienced, courteous, flexible, wise, patient, organized, pays attention to detail, and communicates very well. We had many challenges and Evan helped us to pull them all through. Mom's funeral had a tight schedule (within one week we had a small unoffical family visitation, an offical visitation, and a funeral service at our church), dad wanted to pick up mom from the medical examiner in a really short notice, we changed our mind with cremation vs. burial in the very last minute, the list goes on and on but Evan had all of them under control. To top it off, he was very personal with us and respected our feelings throughout the entire time... superb! I did some research before our family decided to go with Evan J. Strong. I looked on the internet and called serveral other places and by far, Evan gave me the best impression. My family had some reservations considered it is a name that we never heard of before so we went to visit him and the location in person before committing ourselves. At the time, the only reservation that dad had was the size of the visitation room thought to be on the small side but turned out to be very suitable for us (100 to 120 guests came in at different time). The only hic-cup that we really had was our program/Eulogy printout. We did our own design, finalized in PDF, Evan's staff was to print and fold for us. The final product was good but there were technical difficulties which our family had to spend unexpected time to work it out with Evan's staff before we could finalize it. All in all, completely satisfied with Evan! He knows his business, a job well done!
