Awesome experience in the salt water bubble! It was very relaxing floating and listening to meditative music. I was made to feel welcomed when I arrived for my appointment.

When I arrived I was asked to pay the HST, this was something I believed I already paid on the Groupon app but I paid it again so I could go ahead with the float. The gentleman then showed me to my room and I soon as I walked in I was taken back by the musty smell, I then looked around the tub and it had about 3 inches of scum all around the tub just above water level. I questioned the gentleman on how often they are cleaned ... he then said that the tub must not have been working correctly and offered me another tub. I experienced the same musty smell when walking into the next room and the same scum around the entire tub, this tub also had hair floating in it and black stuff settling at the bottom. I booked a float to relax and I knew there was no way I could relax in such a dirty environment. I then went to the front desk and told the gentleman I couldn't go through with the float because of the state of the tubs. At that time he went back to look at the second one and came back with a wash cloth saying "you are absolutely right" and showed me the washcloth with scum on it- he said it must have been sun tan cream. He returned the $7.50 I paid in hst but said I would have to go through groupon to get the rest of my money refunded. This wasn't my first time at compass rose but it has definitely gone down hill and I suspect it won't be open for much longer. Even the site of their front desk is appalling. It's is so dirty and cluttered- it shocks me that a facility that is directed towards bettering people's mental health keeps their welcome area in such a state, the dust, the dirt, the clutter, the disorganization cause me anxiety just looking at it. The gentleman did offer me some time in their massage chair but by that time I just wanted out of there and declined his offer.

To start, the service was awesome. Receptionist was amazing and gave us great detail and a tour (as it was our first time). The atmosphere is very relaxing. Definitely taking trips again. Also, Groupon has great deals with them as well.

I have been going to The Compass Rose For 3yrs for floats and other appointments, The staff has been Respectfull,Accommodating, and very Hospitable, They go out of their way to help me with anything l serve them which sometimes isn't always right or pleasant but they understand the position I'm in, that alone is great service, the floats are the most therapeutical things l have. The whole staff are real people, make me feel like l'm in family compacity at times. I thank them for that.

This place is a wonderful experience from start to finish. The float pod is huge! I especially like listening to my favourite audio book while floating and choosing my light colour. The controls were so easy to operate and I didn't have to get out.

After multiple surgeries on my hips and knees, I had a few complications and the blood flow to my legs was non-existent, my feet turned black I lost my toenails I had ulcers all over my bottom legs and I was taking up to 20 pills a day. I started doing salt floats and within 2 months my legs and feet were amazing. The detoxification of my body was another bonus. They are great people to deal with. Can't say enough about Cheryl and The Compass Rose. Ted Jacobs

A fantastic opportunity to explore a variety of treatment options for both the mind and the body. Halifax areas premier wellness experience. The center is fully equipped with the newest form of floatation technology with four float pods to choose from. In addition, a state of the art sensory room to explore and expand child development and excellent counselling services provided by the Director, Dr. Mike Buckley all make The Compass Rose an amazing environment to provide relaxation and receive support. Well done!!

I have to say the float experience was exceptionally relaxing and peaceful, however I was a bit disappointed in the spa itself. My overall impression was "neglected". I walked into to float room and the smell of mustiness was a bit disconcerting. I understand that moisture and humidity are part of the experience however I feel that this went beyond that. The towel that was provided had the scent of being left too long in the washing machine before being dried. Everything looks a little worn and tired, when I opened the pod itself the lid was heavy and hard to lift and let out a screech, it needs maintenance presumably. Lastly the website reflects very well the precations for Covid, however the amenities section has not similarly been updated, there was no massage chair to use and no beverages post float. I wish this had been clear as I would have brought my own water. I think a reasonable compromise for Covid would be to give every floater a sealed bottle of water with their towels at the start. Easy... and a fine attention to adapting to the situation while still thinking of client wellbeing. I believe that attention to these details is an essential part of any 'spa experience', as such I will not return to this location and will look for other float options in town.
