Unprofessional behaviour and the stylist had 0 knowledge about hairstyles! She didn’t know what to do even though I explained a number of times what I wanted. And instead I was insulted with a number of comments that I am not allowing her to do her job. She had to call another stylist in between to just do a partition. Waste of one and half hour and 25$! I had to another studio the next day to fix my hair! Do refrain from going to this place. One of my friend had even hair damage with the colours they used on her hair!

I phoned to make an apt for a haircut. I have never heard of their method of pricing. The girl who answered the call assumed I did know. When I asked her to explain, she did in a courteous manner. I had two questions, so she answered them. When I asked (in regards to the levels) what the numbers mean, like what does a one denote and what does a six denote she acted like I was four years old and told me she already explained it. I said yes, you told me there are levels based on experience, but what do the numbers represent in terms of experience? She got a little catty at this point and said maybe she should get someone else to help 'explain' it to me. I refused and tried one more time. I said, the numbers mean experience so what level of experience does one mean and what level of experience does six mean? She told me, and then I thanked her and said I had never even heard of this pricing before this call.....(long pause) then, instead of being gracious, she got defensive, and acted as if I were too stupid to understand 'simple' instructions. I decided at that moment this is not the place for me. If she cannot handle being pleasant and kind while explaining policy to a customer, then she obviously cannot be trusted with my appearance!

I've been coming here for years to see Natasha and love it! My hair has a mind of its own and until Natasha I never found a hairdresser who has been able to give me a cut that looks good for more than about 10 minutes. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming and they really know their hair!

Gregory gave me the coloured hair of my pixie dreams. The colours he used stayed vibrant for weeks and his instructions helped me care for my colour treated hair. He always asks what my budget is (since I’m a student) and helps me manage expectations of what I’d like and how to get there. I will not go anywhere else for hairstyling.

Martaine is one of the best hairdressers around I got a complete change to my look by dying it jet black and getting a cut it was done sooo professionally and also met the look I was going for. She is also really good with making you feel comfortable and also understanding what you want out of your look. I recommend.

Sorry. Had to alter my review again. My hair was hurt by bleach I didn't want by the first stylist I saw. Then I was invited me back to fix the damage with a different stylist, she did a treatment and told me it would last 6-8 weeks. But it lasted 2 shampoos. My ends are again epicly frizzy and puffy, and my hair has little to no shape due to breakage and fallout. Thanks for trying, but it didn't work. So now I'm left with having to get it cut - a lot - so will lose so much length that I worked so very hard to get. I honestly hate my hair atm. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to new clients when they tell you bleach does their hair no good. Thankfully it's winter, so plenty of hats to get through. I am thankful you reaches out and tried though, just sad it didn't hold. ????

I have been Blessed to be a client of Sophia at the HS Studio for as long as she has been there. Sophia is creative, kind, innovative and amazing! She has been there to help with my hair when I have had funerals to attend and needed sudden style. The staff at the Studio have a wonderful interpersonal dynamic. All are happy to help all clients present at the Studio. I've been there with walkers, rollators and my current wheelchair. It has never been a problem for anyone at this excellent place. For women this place must be a blast, but for guys with short, easily manageable hair you're probably not going to get the best bangs(lol) for your buck. I timed my haircut and it took 9 minutes. That set me back over $40 including tip, which I didn't really think was fair. If you have a complicated hair situation, however I could totally see this place being worth your while. FYI they have wifi you can use while you wait. Appointments are definitely recommended.

Worst makeup artist in the city. Not even sure if she is certified. Showed the picture of make up I'd like to have and asked for contouring and eyeliner. I've got like three layers of foundation which is not contouring. I've got crooked eyeliner lines that looked like 5 yo tried to do it. Shades was terrible. It did not look like on the picture even close. But it just bothers me the most that she did not even apply mascara!!! I believe that their make up artist did not show up so they ask random person from the street to cover it.

Loyal customer for the last 8 years. My stylist moved on to another career and that left me with the difficult task of finding another stylist. I booked an appointment with Margo. We hit it off and I couldn’t be happier. She is a credit to the salon and I would highly recommend her. The staff at HRM are ABSOLUTE professionals. Today, with COVID-19 factoring into all of our experiences, it is INCREDIBLY VALUABLE to know that the premises and practices are minimizing our risks while also maximizing our enjoyment of the experience. I just had my first haircut (and colour and highlights) since this pandemic started. The process to enter the location was simple yet thorough. I was asked questions. My temperature was taken. And I was provided with a mask. Inside the premises, arrows guided my movements. And partitions ensured that I was physically separated from other clients at ALL TIMES, included when I was being shampooed. Every staff member wore a mask. COVID-19 is stressful. And it felt great to be able to relax and enjoy a bit of pampering without feeling that I was, in any way, violating safe practices. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HS Studios!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was my first time at this hair salon and I specifically booked it because it was ranked as 1 of the best 3 salons in Halifax - that was my first mistake - I should have read all the reviews before booking an appointment. I took photos of myself with previous haircuts so the stylist could see what my hair 'could' look like if cut properly. I regret to say that I'm disappointed with the result. They asked if I wanted my money back - I said 'no', they offered me another appointment but there are now trust issues - can the stylist do the job? The stylist is a lovely person, but the end result has left me so disappointed. I know the salon will respond with one of their 'stock' answers which denotes an uncaring attitude towards customer service. Please read ALL the reviews before going to this place for services. Clearly they have issues. I was at your salon and had a haircut on August 19, 2021 appointment was at 1:30 pm. Please don't respond to this with a stock answer that I wasn't there - I was there.

Went for an appointment for a consult on a particular makeup brand. She was 30 mins late for the consult. She later told me it was best her previous client wanted an upgrade service so it wasn’t her fault. Which is silly because that clearly makes her late for her next booked client. Then once she matched me to a colour she said they didn’t even have the product in stock. She said it was ordered but they have no idea when it will be in. Seems like something that should have been communicated to be when I booked the appointment. When I told them this was pretty bad customer service she shrugged and said it wasn’t her fault. The front desk said the same thing. Don’t bother with this place. Go somewhere that values their clients!

I had the haircut in June this year as a birthday treat and only remembered now when I saw a bank statement. Paid over $50 for the worst haircut of my life. The stylist was Karen and I can safely say based on the haircut she gave me that she knows nothing about how to choose the best haircut for the type of hair and shape of the face, or about how to actually cut the hair so it doesn't look like a messy, unkempt mop as soon as it's washed. I can't express how disappointed I was when I washed it the following day and saw the result. I really wished I hadn't done anything to it, especially not before my 20th birthday weekend

From our perspective, customer satisfaction is not their priority. We had a "misunderstanding" (read between the lines) and my daughter did not get the results we expected based on pictures we were shown. A huge disappointment and hole in the wallet. They would NOT compensate NOR try to fix. They would not take their share of the responsibility for the mistake even though we decided to agree with them that it was a "misunderstanding". Even though the stylist made my teen feel very comfortable with her, it was clear that she had very little experience. It took her 5 hours to lighten and foil my daughters long hair. Industry standards is 3 hours. We will never go back and would not recommend to anyone.

Sweet Christy does my pedicures and they are just always perfect. Feet are treated well, nail polish is applied evenly and properly. Always a good chat and laughs. Never rushed. I've been to quite a few for places pedicures and Christie is just the best. Plus she put me onto a hairdresser who finally gets my hair and cuts it appropriately!

Honestly, I don't want to give even one star. I was so excited because it was my first time doing a haircolour. Unfortunately, I picked this place. I had the 50% off coupon but they broken down the Services and didn't even give me 15% off. I showed the colour to hairdresser and he did not pay attention properly as he knew what was in the picture. My hair looked horrible after the haircolour and I asked them to do it again and now my hair looks like I never had colour in them. I tried to talk to the manager and according to them, she was never in the salon. They said they will fix my hair but never did. Guys, if you want to save your hair please do not go here for a haircolour specifically. It is not professional at all.

It was okay. Staff are relatively friendly, but the services are standard. I received a simple haircut, and with tip paid 40. For a guy with short hair, this is a lot. Basically, first choice hair cutters with a high price tag, and a keurig.

Very pleasant atmosphere, especially considering the difficult times we are all facing with the current pandemic. HS Studio Salon followed the COVID protocol very careful and that made me feel very safe. Extremely clean area! Greeted very warmly upon my entrance and seated immediately. I had the most amazing experience with Jacob . He listened to what I wanted and my hair turned out exactly what I expected. I was able to sit in the chair and close my eyes without constantly having to check what's coming off my head. My hair feels great and I’m getting so many compliments.

Brittany is an amazing esthetician! I've gone to her twice now for lash lifts and have loved them both times! In the past I've gotten lash lifts at other HRM salons and have left unsatisfied. You can tell Brittany takes her time and doesn't rush the process. Will absolutely recommend her go anyone I know!

I agree with some reviews by others guys down below. Maybe for women or people with longer hair this place would be a good deal, but for men they do about a 10 minute haircut and then charge $33 for it. It seemed rushed, whereas my Barbershop I go to has a more personal, slower approach. There if you're not happy or unsure they'll recommend things and usually it's over an hour haircut for $18. If you go over a half an hour here they'll actually call you out on it. My old barbershop seemed more precise and personal whereas this place felt more like a fast food quick in quick out approach with a higher charge.

Probably the worst men's cuts I have ever had, even people commented after how awful it looked. The Female Stylist spend less than 15 minutes total and the price with tip $45 #ridiculous. Salon was dirty and cheap looking. I won't be returning and cannot recommend.
