As of day the firm receives a score of 4.2 out of 5 and the rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see the average score it has is very positive, and it is based on a very large number of scores, so we can think that the assessment is quite reliable. If people have bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Massage Therapist corresponds to the category of Massage school.
Makami gives you clinic hours at an actual clinic. I am graduated and actually working at the same clinic fulltime that I did my hours at. it was just an easy transition from doing my practicum to working there fulltime. great school that placed me in a job after graduated.
Amazing massages for a great price, The teachers and students and staff are awesome, very polite and made me feel welcome. Great place for massage therapy.
this school was fantastic the students and staff were very friendly. The school was clean and up to date with everything i finished my 2nd year and found a job easily when i finished the school even helped me find a job. I highly recomend this school to anyone.
I was hesitant by the school being in the mall, and was not too impressed with the look of it, but you could tell they were going under renovations, regardless they made me really excited to get started. Vlad helped to make sure everything was possible and be taken care of. He took the time to cover everything, without me having to ask a million questions. so far looks like a great school
I started the health care aid program here at Makami in September and I have been learning a lot about the field! It really helps me that all my information like textbooks and notes are on my IPAD which is a cool inovative way of learning for me. I have recieve so much support from the college with every aspect of school from applying and understanding my student loans to getting some extra help with the course material! I am excited to be here and excited to graduate
So I have perfect attendance because its easy to come to class and actually enjoy myself. The classes are so small so you get to know everyone that you are in class with. I like that I can just come to school and know everyone and just feel like I am surrounded by like minded people. We support each other and my class mates have really become by family. Excited to graduate with my friends and on to working as a fulltime RMT!
I started my 3000 hour advanced clinical massage therapist program in September 2018. I finished the program April 2020 and while no one could have prepared for what happened in March, the school worked very hard to ensure our program wasn't negatively affected by the restrictions. We were able to graduate on time with some minor changes in the schedule, luckily for us we were basically at the point that all we had left for content was a few classes and a lot of review for our finals. With the changes that occurred we faced this together. Although graduating a program as such in a time where we couldn't practice took some wind out of the sails but hey not much we could do. Despite having not massaged someone for months, and all the new policies regarding massage for when it was opened, finding a new place of employment was fairly stress free given the situation, one interview had the RMT doing it saying I had a lot of knowledge in the field and at first I was like, nah no way but the program really gave me an edge, also my hard work but hey haha I'm humble. There were times in the program I was wondering why we did some of the requirements we did but I learned that it really helped me adapt to working with many people helped build my stamina and wasn't quite so exhausted after hours and hours of massage. I really appreciate the content we learned and the instructors for doing their best to ensure we understood the content. I'd say on average the program helps more students become better therapists than some of the other places however also know its very student dependent on applying the lessons learned. Thank you staff for trying their best to make the experience wonderful and as stress free as possible.
The new campus is great, and things are still being added! The faculty and staff are professional but also very approachable. I've gone for a few massages there and you can definitely see the skill progression that the students go through as going to the same student RMT 1 month apart is a different experience; not only in their skills and knowledge, but their confidence level as well! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great massage at a bargain price.
Completely disorganized, money grab, looks unprofessional half of the school is at an elementary school, unfriendly front desk staff, Teachers that are not real teachers and can't teach, promises they can't keep (ex pet massage therapy) among other things.
Amanda Stewart, Shannon Snider, Derek Radloff, Vlad P (owner’s son) all reviews of MaKami’s management team, so don’t be fooled by those 5 star ratings, that are just the ones I quickly found on here. I can only AGREE with the other 0(1) Star reviews on here. 1 Unorganized!!!!! They even loose your assignments, not just once, it happened to at least a dozen students I know. 2 They scam you out of your money. Don't provide you with materials. 3 Most of their employees are students that graduated from MaKami. 4 Charge you for courses you don’t even get taught, supplies and textbooks for a bunch of homemade eBooks (spelling errors in them and wrong information). 5 if you want to go to college afterwards or apply for grants you can't cause NO ONE WANTS TO ACCEPT MAKAMI AS A COLLEGE (they will not give you credits for your courses) 6 over crowded class sizes (40~60 students/class) with 1-3 instructors, with 1 Massage table for 4/5 students 7 I can only agree with Robert Petersen Bach, its also a hostile and poisonous work environment for its employees and the school gives out bonuses to staff for writing positive reviews. 8 They are also taking down those negative reviews that do not say anything but the truth. 9 A lot of those 5 star reviews are also from people that got a massage at the MaKami student clinic so be sure to read them carefully as they get 5 stars for the massages ONLY! And NOT for the college! Bottom line: Do your research, don’t just believe them, trust those student reviews and look at ALL your other options. Would NEVER recommend this school to anyone but fully recommend this career! If you are a student and have experienced MaKami's true nature, like this review to make sure that others wont fall for this trap as well.
The staff and teachers are awesome, very helpful, and understanding. Best place for massage therapy
MaKami College offers a 3000 hour RMT program (the highest hours available in AB)(International Standard) , a health care aide program, a security guard program, and the master instructor program at its Edmonton campus. They offer free iPads for your textbooks, skills workshops, tutoring, on-site group ESL classes and tons of resourcing, as well as on-site hiring fairs, if required so that you can succeed in your journey to your new career. They helped me get to a new life as an RMT. I'm now taking my master instructor program. The faculty are skilled, competent and above all else, kind. The administration goes over and above to figure out funding and how to best help get you from.point a to b. Free tours are available.
This is a wonderful place to get massages. They have great prices and the people there are great to be around! I would definitely recommend to others I know !
Great place to learn massage therapy. They set you up for success, and help you out in any way they possibly can, they go above and beyond to ensure that you are successful in your career as a massage therapist.
A great school but Makami college will always be a Sears in my heart????????
Graduated from this school a while ago. English isn't my first language and they were good with helping me out with work and improving my English. the program is short but straight to the point because its accelerated. You have class two days a week then clinic one day a week which really helps because you work on real clients and get practice as an actual massage therapist before you complete the course. If you are looking to start massage therapy check out Makami college.
This school is amazing! As a student here, I have come to be a part of such an amazing group of people that are not only my friends but people I can look at as mentors. There is always help available no matter the situation you are in and the teachers and staff are very caring and flexible with everything. You also get so much hands on experience that you will feel super comfortable in your new profession. I would highly recommend this school!
Review from a deep tissue massage client. You can only book appointments on Mondays so if I forget that is bothersome. Generally it is a 3 week wait for an appointment and the students are hit and miss in quality (their experience ranges from a couple months into the course to almost 2 years). All that being said, this is a school and as such all of the above issues are to be expected. The price reflects what your are getting. I supplement my regular professional massages with appointments at the school. I know what I will be getting; these students are learning but they are always professional and friendly. I will continue to go and recommend to others who may be looking for a cheaper alternative and don't have serious, specified issues.
Just graduated my second year and I have had so many issues with this school, extremely disorganized, constantly not following up on things they promised. Completely a money grab, majority of people I graduated with or people I've talked to who have graduated were not pleased with how they've been treated at MaKami. Would never recommend this school to anyone but fully recommend this career! I love being a massage therapist!
Front staff can be difficult to deal with specially for bookings
ha ha! this is a joke of a school. I almost went here and yes, they tried to scam me out of my tuition because they submitted to student financing on my behalf. Then it took me months of threatening law suits before they finally gave me my money back. Then I laughed even more as I'm looking through the 5 star review on this page and am seeing names of people on here giving reviews and those people either are the owners own son, the registrar people... OMG the people who work at this place are actually giving reviews using their own names. This is not good at all. stay away. Recommend staying away from the massage therapy industry in Alberta altogether as it is unregulated and based on the education in most of the schools you will never pass an entry to practice exam in any of the other regulated provinces. I am now an RMT and the licensing fees are ridiculous, the insurance is high, you need a different license for each studio you work in and you end up never getting clients at first because you are new and it can take years to "maybe" build a clientele. there are a lot of advertising for massage therapists but you are a subcontractor and they expect you to sit there and wait for clients that might call, they can never even guarantee 10 clients a week. Stay away from this industry you will never make money and maybe you will make money to pay your bills but it is purely seasonal and summers will kill you(no money )
Do not go here. I was booked in for a deep tissue massage and did not even get a relaxation massage. I understand these are students. But they rush through the massage with minimal pressure and exertion. When voicing my concerns to the teacher she said "sorry" very rudely and with an attitude . I brought this to their attention so the student can learn. Again, do NOT go here. There is zero competency and professionalism.
I had an Amazing experience at this college. The staff and instructors were very organized and really helpful when I had questions or concerns, they were quick to solve any problems I had. I highly recommend this school to anyone wishing to pursue a career in massage therapy.
I cant believe there was help with free ESL tutoring. I am an international student and english is my second language. I learnt english in school but still its was nice to be able to come in to get free English tutoring for terms I did not understand. The program has really helped me get good marks
The advisor are amazing and they helped me get approved finally for my student loans. I am going to school in January!! The advisors helped me apply for my loans and helped me with all my questions that I had about them. It was nice to take to someone face to face about my student loan questions and my finances instead of talking to 100 different people on the phone. Excited to get my classes on the go and started!
Staff and Teachers there are phenomenal. The best place to learn massage therapy !
Tomorrow will be my 3 year anniversary as an employee at MaKami College. I heard mixed reviews about it before and thus started with mixed emotions, leaving my old job not knowing how everything will turn out. The last three years have been flying by, as it was only one month. I love my job, enjoy the company of my coworkers and in general the climate at the college. As with every workplace there are not only good days, but so far the good days have been the overwhelming majority. The communication with the students is generally positive. If have seen many instances where staff members have done everything in their power to help MaKami Colleges students succeed. Overall I find myself in a fun, supportive, and rarely ever boring environment.
Phenomenal staff and teachers, and a fantastic place for massage therapy.
The best place for massage therapy. I absolutely love how helpful and friendly the staff and teachers are.
Attending this school in Edmonton at the moment and I haven't had any problems at all, I really like it thus far. The teachers are really helpful , they have councilling support if need be and they help you find employment while enrolled . The classes are informative and straight to the point and they have free tutoring available to struggling students.
I attended Calgary campus a couple years ago and loved my experience there . Every student advisor was very eager to help , teachers were very thorough , reception was kind and helpful . Good school had a good experience overall , would recommend.
Clean place but a little hard to find. I wish they had some sign board or something with direction.
Well priced massage.
This was my first experience and I really didn't know what to expect. The staff are super friendly very professional. My student was top notch and I will return in the future. MaKami College I will return
Oh my god are you kidding me. Complete caos how do they function
Such a great program , the course is accelerated in 2 years which makes it so much better . They have new classes starting every month and you only attend school 2.5 days a week so you can still keep a part time job on the side for steady income . Teachers are good at explaining topics and get straight to the point . They really give support to struggling students with their free tutoring and they also provide counselling services if needed .
The staff at Makami are all very friendly and helpful! The receptionist at the front desk always answers any questions you may have and try their best to find a solution to your problem! The student advisors are always available to meet with the students to help them with any issues they may have, whether it be with student loans, their class schedules or even finding a job. The student success center does an amazing job with tutoring the students and helping them catch up with anything they may have missed. The instructors are all very personable as well. This is a great school, they have all the resources to help their students succeed in the course.
Makami college is a great school, it changed my life.
Best school for massage therapy. Great and friendly environment to learn in and the staff and teachers are excellent.
Currently enrolled in the health care aid program for Edmonton. It's a one year program but your able to accelerate it in 10 months . It's only 3 evenings per week and 1 Saturday so you can still maintain a job while going to school . The student advisors are all awesome and super helpful , They guarantee you with work placement and placement for your practicum . I'm so glad I chose this School for health care aide this school has proved to me that they really care about your education !
You get a free ipad with all the textbooks download on there. No more carrying heavy text books. Everything for the course is accessible through the ipad, makeing taking notes super easy!
They answered all the questions I had for them like professionals, the place was super clean and I felt welcomed, it felt like a great atmosphere to learn and work in
I have always been interested in the health and wellness industry but have never before gotten the push to go to school. I had met some one the students at fringe festival this summer and they encouraged me to come to the college for a massage. I ended up going for a tour and I didn't realize they have health care aid program. I ended up making a crazy life choice and I enrolled in the HCA course in September. Since them I have been busting my butt to get good grades and keep up with my full time job. All in all I would encourage anyone who is interested to take the leap and enroll. The college has helped me manage my time and also helped my study.
IF YOU WANT TO START YOUR CAREER IN MASSAGE THERAPY,THE BEST PLACE IS MAKAMI COLLEGE I LOVE MAKAMI COLLEGE AND ALL THE TEACHESR,INSTRUCTORS,RECEPTIONIST Everyone is sooo good and kind❤ BLANCA VERA,thank you for all your kindness, support and help to start my career,i will never forget it❤
Amazing school, one of the best places to learn massage therapy. Definitely changed my life.
Students receive High Quality Instruction following High Educational Standards to ensure Students Graduate after completing 3000 hours of intensive hands on training.
This school Is a huge money pit. $25,000 Tuition , long field trip hours which school doesn't pay students for 8+ hours a day. Unrealistic hours given to do practicum. EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND MONEY, if you want to do a specific course its extra $$$. If you want to get into massage therapy don't go to makami! unless you want a ipad that they give you for signing up....
I am currently a student at Makami college and I have managed to find a good balance between keeping my fulltime job and going to school. At first I was reluctant to start school but I end up only coming to school 2 and a half days per week. I cant wait for the time where I am graduated and done all of my studies!
My girlfriend currently attends and frequently tells me horror stories, the school is falling apart, desks are disintegrating, doors are broken, the school does not maintain supplies for students, they stuff too many students into one room and break fire code, people have to sit on the floor most classes, and even with all the tuition my girlfriend has paid, she has to pay $60 still for the lab she's been looking forward to doing the most all year and pay $8 for parking at said lab on top of the $60, and some how the school can magically start a new nursing program. Where is the tuition going? What's Makami's focus? Not the students, not the campus, Makami is a scam! She was also directly lied to by the son of the owner of the school during her tour. False advertising, fire code violations, scamming!!! The owner deserves to be in jail.
While I haven't attended the college I was fortunate enough to receive the services of some of the first year students while I was a volunteer at the Edmonton Expo this past weekend. I had a different student each day and each was very attentive to my needs regarding pressure and personal medical history. They are evidently very thorough at this school, one of the women giving me a massage was even able to determine what type of work I do based on my muscle tension and stuff (I don't really know what lol). Great experience!
The class sizes are fairly small and helps with a more one on one time. I find that the teachers actually know my name and care if I am in class or not. Well, they actually notice if I am there too. Its nice as most university and college teachers I am told dont even remember your name haha. I am pretty luck to be here and I appreciate my teachers be so attentive!
Makami College has the best massage prices I have experienced at only $39 per hour which is incredible! The students are very attentive to your needs during the massage and always make sure you are comfortable with the pressure! Staff are very friendly and welcoming, would definitely recommend Makami College to everyone.
Makami is the only massage college in Alberta that offers 3000 hours of credited training. If you want to get a great job after you graduate you should be going to Makami. Most of the students in my class had jobs before we even finished the semester.
The advisors helped me every step of the way for my student loans and enrolling. I was denied for my student loans before and I dont know what they did but they turned it around and was able to get me approved. i honestly would not be able to go to school with out that loan and I am so thankful. I am just starting the course in january and looking forward to a new year!
Job interview process was a joke with Roxy who works here who is too young & inexperienced & dressed & acted like she works in a massage parlor instead of a school. Immature. Student massages are sometimes a rip off due to 6 month students being assigned deep tissue clients. A 6 month student has NO IDEA what deep tissue is supposed to be & so the massages aren't deep & suck big time. Lastly, scheduled an orthopedic massage while still at capilano location. Even though orthopedics was done for the year the appt. was wrongly scheduled & the front desk said nothing too when i arrived, so had a normal massage which isnt what I booked. Both the call center AND front desk messed it up. If you want a relaxation non deep massage, this is all this place is good for.
I worked fulltime while I was in school at Makami college. I am now graduated and work as a fulltime RMT. I found that I had recieved a lot of hands on experience in the clinic when I was at school. The college helped me balance my fulltime job while I was in school too. I know that I was a bit stressed out but the teachers really gave me a lot of support. Thanks Makami for helping me to get to where I am now!
This is a super awesome school for both a student and an employee. The more effort you put into your work the more you will get out of your experience there! It's an amazing place to be a part of for sure !
It's been 4 years since I graduated and I have to say I dont regret going to this school. I feel I have more knowledge and skill than many of my competitors. My only wish is that I knew more about handling my taxes, and that the loan was smaller. Luckily the gov took student loan payments over because of the 'pandemic.' I didnt realize how much the government took of our wages away in taxes. Makami should implement an entire unit of study on taxes and provide sharp accountants to the students from the start.
Great place for $40 massages - Their google hours are completely wrong. Most of the massage rooms are not private, they are just curtained.
Even though I have children, I began at this school hoping to find a career that would fit with my crazy busy life. I found just that. MaKami College offers schooling part time which is incredible ! It has so many perks from free tutoring to the 3000 hours ! The skills I learned have worked amazingly and I am now in a career that I love and that works for me thanks to this school !
When I went to Makami College for a massage appointment, two students were assigned to me and were supervised for a certain period of time by their instructor during the assessment stage. Had a good experience overall.
Absolutely love how diverse and welcoming this school is. The staff and teachers are amazing. Great place to learn massage therapy.
First of all, I just fairly recently became a student at Makami College, so exciting! I had originally heard of them when I was out at K-days with one of my close girlfriends who suggested we get a massage, so we did, and it was incredible! I decided to take the leap, and learn more about their school, and the rest is history. So far it has been wonderful, I have learnt a lot of interesting techniques, and lots about the human body and muscles, it's all very fascinating. I have nothing but good things to say so far about this College.
Called with questions regarding the course and the student massages....very positive experience!! Friendly/knowledgeable staff!!
Amazing place for learning massage therapy, Life changing!
A good selection of massage therapy courses / workshops offered in Edmonton.
MaKami College is a prime example of what every school in the world should strive to be like. The students were very friendly, the instructors and student advisers were very understanding and every time I would enter into this school I would see such positive attitudes and kind people. Some people may or may not have had the same experience I've had there, but overall I've found that many people in this college agree that this is a wonderful place to learn, improve your skills and take your career to the next level! I want to say thank-you to MaKami College and all the staff for changing my life in such a positive way.
Fantastic massages with wonderful people. Great place. Will be back for sure!!!
The oldest reception is very rude. I hope the manager should let her go so the school can give a chance to young people. Nice and beauty is basic element of reception. I saw you used lots of money to post advitisements, but the door of your business is rude and old, it must be very difficult to the owner. I like the school except reception.
Went for a massage was definitely worth the 39$ and i will be going back again
Its a great school the staff is very friendly and they are very accomodating to make sure your experiance is worth while.
Great experience! Very professional personnel and therapists!
I am taking the Health Card Aid course here at Makami College and I just started my program! I have to say I absolutely love it here! I have not been in school for a long long time and the college had been really accepting of me. I am excited for this change and welcome when I am able to do my job placement! The class sizes are fairly small and I see the same class mates which is helpful.
A great place to get a great student massage. The staff is always friendly as soon as you walk in the doors
MaKami college is a very welcoming and friendly environment. They provide great services for very little costs. Their students are very well trained and I would recommend them !
As an employee at MaKami College for nearly 2 years now, I can say that it offers its students the benefits of pathways to enhancing their education and discovering new abilities that they were not aware of. The environment of the College is fresh, comfortable and most of all welcoming to all. Getting a massage from the students is phenomenal and highly recommended.
The best fricken massage you can get for such an amazing price! I will go here again! The student that was working on me was a bit hesitant at first as she told me I was her first clinic massage but once i told her I was comfortable I feel like she was comfortable as well. I expected the massage to be just mediocre but she happily surprised me by giving me an amazing massage! She asked me how much pressure I wanted and we had a long chit chat which was nice too! What a great girl and she gave me such a good experience!
This school is fantastic ! I started off as a student in their 2 year program and now I'm an employee of the school ! The teachers and staff are absolutely amazing ! They're always helpful and easy to talk to ! 100% recommend this school to anyone wanting to pursue massage therapy as a career !
I am so excited to start school in November
Love this place! As soon as you walk in, you can already feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere at the front desk. Everyone is smiley and friendly. Student massages are excellent and their massage therapy program is the best in Canada as well! No wonder they produce great registered massage therapists!
Went to MaKami for a massage, the staff and the student who did my massage were all so friendly. It has made me realize that I would most definitely go this school as there are so many things that they offer that most schools do not.Highly recommend to anybody looking to go to school or even book a massage.
Thank you so much to my awesome student advisor Barinder, who got my student loan approved...so excited!!!
Do your research. This school is a giant money grab and they'll pretty much say whatever you want to hear until they get your money. Also the fact that it's very obvious that all the 5 stars on here is just makami doing their own reviews to get a higher rating says a lot.
I got a massage at MaKami college and overall it completely exceeded my expectations. They had friendly, accommodating staff who know what they're doing, and with a low price too. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.
When I need to get a massage I go here! It's super cheap which mean I can come more than once in a month or even more than once in a week if my back if feeling terrible haha it's $39.00 for an a whole hour! This place is clean and relaxing!
This is a great place to get a massage! The students here are really amazing and take the time to be attentive. The place is very accommodating and I love to get massage here. The location is really easy to get to and there is plenty of parking. There is not much of a wait time for your massage appointment and if you are early they can often get you in a bit earlier. I would recommend to get a massage here.
Best school in Edmonton , the instructors and staff make you feel welcome front the moment you enter the door . All instructors were true professionals , very knowledgeable, patient and caring individuals. They all want their students to succeed. I highly recommend.
Scam artists. Scam you out of money. Don't provide you with materials. Charge you 1500$ for supplies and textbooks for a bunch of homemade ebooks and there's spelling errors in them and wrong information. Charge you for can fit pro and you don't learn it. Most of their employees are students. Unorganized. And only interested in the growth of the company. Not the students within it. If I could rate any less I would.
Need an answer from someone about literally anything and you'll likely be hung up on delays, miscommunication or flat out forgotten about. Student intake for new classes didn't seem to have a limit often resulting in big classes. Seems as if they're more interested in making a profit and name than locking down a ciricumlum and material. imo not worth the tuition they charge
For the price of the massage you cant go wrong! its under $40.00 to get a massage to get in for a massage and you can usually get in for the same day. So basically I just call and bam get in right away to get a massage, its great! I have never has a problem with bookings either. The Students are all supervised and very professional. An they take the time to make sure you are relaxed. I usually get the deep tissue massage when I go and I recommend it.
If I could give this 0 stars, I would. I’m currently a student at MaKami, and the whole thing is such a joke. They only want your money and have no concern for your well being. Whenever you have any type of problem their solution is for you to send an email. They like to push problems to the side no matter how much you talk to them about it. I’ve been asking for a problem to be fixed since late August, and it still hasn’t been fixed. I pay an incredibly large amount of money to attend the school, and have been nothing but disappointed with what I’ve received. It’s so unorganized, and there’s no consistency among the teachers and staff. The directors will lie to your face to get you to attend the school. And then deny the promises after. I’ve talked to the school about this, and their response was, “send an email and we’ll deal with it right away.” Then nothing gets dealt with. DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. It’s not worth it in the least.
Went for a tour and everyone was so kind and welcoming! Can wait to start my program with these great people in September!
had my baby jesse and the hardest thing for me was starting school and finding a sitter for him. I found out that Makami college allows you to bring your baby to school and to cntinue your studies. This one litte thing has changed my life. I am taking the HCA course and I want to make a better life for me and Jesse. Excited to graduate and be a part of the working force.
School life has been hard to get use to but the college here is really interested in seeing me succeed. I like how I am able to get a lot of hands on learning as I take part in different events and also do my hours at the clinic here. Being able to practice what I have learned in the classroom really helps me remember the different aspects of the human body. I am constantly learning and coming to class has been very enlightening.
I am currently enrolled for the Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy for the November in take, I love the school, I found the staff very organize and professional, and I am glad I am going for a 3,000 hours diploma education.
Do NOT go to this school. I was originally planning on going to this school until I realized how incredibly UNORGANIZED and UNPROFESSIONAL these people are. When I applied, I was originally told that within 3 weeks my student loan would be approved. It’s been about two months now. They told me that it was sent in and that it was just taking a little bit longer. Yet, when I called student aid, they informed me that there is no existing application. When I tried getting ahold of my student advisor it’s suddenly like she doesn’t exist. No call backs in WEEKS, not even a reply to the emails I sent her. Decide to call the receptionist desk instead, and they give no help what-so-ever! Just a “Yeah, sorry we can’t really help you”. Definitely not going here! They are one hell of a joke for a school!
Outstanding and amazing college
I went to this school and now I am in instructor at the college. I loved going to this school so much I started teaching here. It's the staff that make such a difference, I am amazed at the dedication and percerverince of these wonderful people. I am so lucky to be apart of a team of people who care so much.
Everyone that I know that ever attended Makami College always bragged about the instructors. After completing my first year I see what all the hype is about. Ive never had instuctors that are so dedicated to your success.
Worst experience ever!!! Would not recommend going at all. Want a good massage go to MH Vicars school. Its 35 bucks and you get an amazing massage and they treat you really good there. Makami is a serious joke
The greatest thing about this place is the teachers and how well they are able to help you manage your schooling regardless of how you learn. I had not been in school for a very very long time and studies were not my strong suit. I don't think I would have been able to manage a massage therapy course without my teachers. I am sure they got annoyed with me with how many questions I had haha but they were there for me when ever I needed it. I have 4 kids and going back to school to change my career was one of the hardest decisions I had to make but once I was done it was the smartest decision I could of made. I massage part time now and have a lot more time with my family. My brain would not have allowed me to graduate with out all the support I received here.
It's such a wonderful place to go ! It has an upbeat atmosphere and everyone is always ready to lend a helping hand. 10/10 would recommend to everyone !
Why didn't I do this sooner! I am enrolled for November and I am so excited to get started! The process for enrolling was very easy and I really just cant wait for a new chapter in my life to start rolling. I have been wanting to try massage Therapy for a long time and finally made the push to start school. The biggest thing for me was that I can bring my little one with me to classes and I don't have to get a babysitter for when I am in school! This is a huge opportunity for me and I am so glad I found Makami College! Make a better life for me and my son!
Pro: Tutors to help you learn the materials. Con: 1) over crowd class size (40~60 students/class) 2) pricy tuition/money grab 3) too many field trips that are tiring you out and promoting the school indirectly 4) very disorganized! The staff posted students’ records very late (2~3 months after exams). After graduation, you only earn approximate $30~$40 per hour if you work for someone or at massage clinics. Unless you are self-employed, the average rate in this industry is $70~$90. You probable only have a couple of clients in a day as the unemployed rate is high in Alberta and a lot of people were laid off and don’t have benefits. Don't fully trust what the ads said. The bottom line is the student loan is estimated approximate $23,000~$28,000 depending on individual family income after graduation. It will take a long time for you to pay it off.
Staff are very friendly and easy to talk to.
Great experience, prices where cheap but the service was 5 star I would recommend to everybody.
I have 12 coupons from August 22, 2019. I have been trying since January 2020 to get an appointment. First it’s Covid excuses. Then it’s we aren’t taking clients. Now it’s we are only taking 20 clients every 2 weeks. I have been told they will call me? This business sure has come unresponsive to the public all I ever get is run around and excuses. I guess they are just waiting for me to give up so they don’t have to honor the coupons they sold me over 2 years ago.
I have been coming here for years and didn't realize that there was another clinic that they ran! So I have some chronic back pain and the deep tissue massage is perfect for me. Then I found out that they have this other clinic that caters to my injury. So I now go to that clinic because it helps more with my chronic back pain. When I want a full body massage I just go back and get a deep tissue. For now the ortho clinic is good for me and I see a huge improvement with my movement and there is a lot less pain. I do go about once or twice a week too. Great place and I would recommend you to try it out.

Im a current student here at Makami and so far it has been a ride! with anything school has been pretty tough to manage with full time job but Im so thankful that my teachers have been so supportive of me. Their support and help makes my life a lot less stressful. I think what helps is the small class sizes so I can actually get to know my class mates and on top of that my teacher knows who I am by name. Thank you for everything and I hope to graduate and make a better life for myself!
The massages are wonderful! They are a reasonable and great price ! All of the students are super nice and are all trained really well. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great school! Job placement after first year, free tutoring and great teachers and staff. They made my experience for school well worth it. I highly recommend.
MaKami is such a great college, with it being the only college in Alberta that offers 3000 hours it gives you so many opportunities for so many jobs.
I have a few months left here at Makami College till I graduate and I have to say this has been one of the best experiences I've had with a school in a long time! All my instructors have been super helpful to me, whether it's with extra tutoring sessions, being out in the field during practicums or simply helping with everyday life situations. I would highly recommend this school for any RMT Or HCA in the city!
(Translated) My wife is happy studying at MAKAMI ... this has helped her feel better in all aspects. THANK YOU Makami you are the BEST. (Original) Mi esposa esta feliz estudiando en MAKAMI... esto la ha ayudado a sentirse mejor en todos los aspectos. GRACIAS Makami eres lo MEJOR.
I love my instructors without them I would've never made it and the schools pretty cool to
Most school's for massage therapy require a lot of information for you to submit an application. I was able to come into the campus for a tour and apply the same day. They gave me a free 1 hour massage certificate afterwards as well!
thank you thank you thank you just amazing
This college is wonderful ! They have the most qualified students ive ever seen. Plus the massages are a great price !
What can I say but makami has changed my life for the better. I have made so much friends here and have made something of a good career. Massage therapy has changed my life and it's all thanks to makami. They had encouraged me to by helping me with my assignments. I have difficulty learning some material but the teachers are always there to help. An free tutoring so I took advantage of that too. It's cool too that a lot of the learning aspects are on the iPad. Everything in the palm of my hands haha great college and when you go here you wont regret it!
I loved my time at Makami college. The classes were pretty intimate which made my learning a lot easier. I have a harder time learning new concepts and i had to take some more time from the teachers to full remember and understand different aspects. I never felt like a nuisance and my questions were always welcomed. The tutoring sessions were very help too and I was able to graduate with all the support from the teachers!
Got a massage here and could not recommend it more! Super friendly staff who are all very helpful and informative!
Most of the 5* reviews on here from " a Google user" are makami themselves to get a higher star rating! Terrible school complete money grab. Once you pay your tuition you become a number. Try to complain about anything and basically get told to bad.
I love this school thank you
Just amazing!! Makami College offers an amazing massage therapy course which is fast and gets you geared up for real world experiences. There is a lot of clinic time and hands on practice with clients and other students, So when you are graduated you are already comfortable with clients going into your job placement. Also the college does job placement after graduation.
Makami College is a very welcoming place where it is easy to learn and ask questions if you need help. The program is 3000 hours and after you graduate they help you with job placement! its incredible how invested the staff in in helping you achieve success.
MaKami college all around made my school experience amazing, worth every penny as it has left me with so many job opportunities. The staff and teachers always are willing to help and do everything they can to help you succeed. I would recommend MaKami to anyone who is interested in becoming a massage therapist or a health care aide.
