Loved the Lumi Lumi Hawaiian massage given by Marie. They offer great massages but customer service is not up to standards. Young staff that seems inexperienced. I was kept waiting after the massage and did not know I had to go out for my manicure. Nobody came to direct me to my second treatment. But overall a very nice place. Great decor and the food is good too.
I have been going for about 4 years and I always enjoy it. The location is serene and the installation are well placed so you don't walk a lot between them. The massages are also great. It will probably be the only place where I get a deep tissue massage.
My wife and I had very good relaxing massage. Mine was superb. The reason I give 4 star, is that we didn't apply for others services, to be able to measure the spa as a whole.
Very beautiful place and baths. Quiet and it really feels like you're in the country even if you're in the city... but I would not recommend the body treatments there. I took a massage twice and it feels like there is no intimacy... they have way too much volume going on there!
I went to the Strom Spa on Nuns Island this week, and I will say what a great experience from start to finish. Obviously living it Montreal everything is a little hard to get to but it's worth the drive free easy parking and it's plentiful. The minute I walked in I felt welcome. I got the full spa experience number to package with a 60 minutes Swedish massage as well as use of the thermal baths all day and a free meal and a glass of wine. Let's start with the massage. It was FANTASTIC. PATRICE THIBAULT has magic hands The massage was everything I wanted and more. I HATE ppl.touching my feet, but this was life changing for me. I was completely relaxed and he made me feel very comfortable. The baths were a great experience and very relaxing. It's nice that everyone respects the fact of being quiet and calm there. It is a beautiful set up and seeing the lake adds a nice touch. For the meal I had the Fattouch salad with grilled halloumi and a glass of Cabarnet Sauvignon. I will say, and not just for a restaurant spa, the food was veryyy tatsy and the wine was pretty good. The staff at the bistro were very friendly and made good recommendations. I would recommend this Spa if you were going with a friend by yourself a boyfriend or a group of people. Thank you for the great experience!!!
I am not a sandwich fan but OH BOYY the lamb sandwich is DELICIOUSSS.???? You have to try their smooties,???????? ask to to replace the milk by oat milk if you're Vegan ???? The LUFT room, next to the first sauna is a vibe ????????????????♀️
My favorite place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Spend the whole day… alone or well accompanied. Staff is very friendly and ensures guests respect the quietude.
We went there for a massage. It was a good experience overall. We will come back for the thermal experience as it is not included in the massage packages (additional 70$ on weekends).
I would recommend going the extra mile to the Mont Saint-Hilaire one to have the full, luxurious, and refined spa experience with Strøm. This particular one could use a lot of touch ups; the towelry is worn, and décor is quite unkept and not very visually pleasing during the day. The exterior dining is nothing special either. My overall thought is that for the amount paid and for what is advertized, there could be much more effort put into the overall aesthetic of the place to make it feel and look more lush and lavish. However, it is conveniently situated, the food was good, and the service was adequate. I had high hopes and it did not quite live up to it, but it is good a nice place and experience nonetheless.
Some of the worst, most incompetent customrr service. Bought a package online and when I got there it took a total of 6 employees to understand how to use the package. Once that was figured out they told us we owed $612...I had already payed in advance for the package though. After our massages they told us we owed more money for oils(?) That neither of us had requested or approved of. Not relaxing at all when all the customer service representatives seem to have no clue what they're doing.
This spa is a good to go place when you dont want to go far from mtl. The food options offer good quality price ratio. The spa is nice and clean but its abit small. The nice thing is bathrobe and towels are included in the price and whatever you take you pay at the end. So far it never happenthat the spa was overcrowded which is a plus!
Really magical on a winter's night with the right person. Great staff and service. Not sure if I would go back though, had a couple people pointing at me saying "look a black person". Other than that I think it's a great experience!
I have been to strom spa many times over the past few years and have always had an amazing time and great massages. My husband and I visited today for our fifth wedding anniversary and both had massages. While his was apparently great, mine was absolutely awful. The guy would just rub up and down the same areas over and over until I was in pain. He also seemed to lose interest half way through and only used one hand! The experience was so awful and weird I just wanted it to stop which has never happened to me before. Not sure why they keep this guy?!
We used to go to this spa very often (pre-covid) but we were very disappointed with our last visit. We had a gift card that was offered to us (pre-covid) and once we got at the reception, they say they couldn't honored it because the package (bath access+meal+drinks) didnt exist anymore. When asked if we could have something similar, they say they couldn't do it and applied the value of the gift card on a massage I have booked separately. I wanted to pay the massage on my own and use the gift card for my husband and I. (access to bath + meal) The receptionist was very confused and also, said she didn't understand english and couldn't understand my husband. It was quite upsetting. we decided to agree to whatever fees because we really needed to go relax and it was my birthday. The bistro was the highlight of the day. Friendly staff, amazing meal, great cocktails. They saved the whole experience.
A delightful bit of peace and quiet only a few minutes from downtown Montreal. My wife and I enjoyed the 'Lempia' couples package, which included food, drink and a massage as well as the thermal pools. We both enjoyed it very much, and spent a lovely, leisurely afternoon at Strom Spa. Reservations are essential, though, as those without them may be turned away if the Spa reaches capacity. I, for one, appreciate the fact that the Spa will not let in more people than it can handle, as there is limited space and the experience would be compromised if the grounds got too full.
I spent an amazing afternoon here. Got a 90m massage outdoors, enjoyed the finnish baths, even took a little catnap in a hammock. It's clean 5* It's extremely relaxing 5* There are different temperature cold baths 5* Multiple saunas 5* Red light therapy, steam room and quiet rooms 5* Only 4* is the bistro. If you don't eat fish, there isn't much to choose from. The food is good, don't get me wrong, but I would have preferred a choice of entrees over having to choose 2 appetizers. As you can see.... you have a great view
My favorite place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Spend the whole day… alone or well accompanied. Staff is very friendly and ensures guests respect the quietude.
If you are Asian, never go to this place. Full of discriminate. 1. Ordered $34 food in restaurant, and asked pay for $60, reason is minimum tip is $25, don't let go unless to pay. 2. Been following when moving to every single pool. Once you open your mouth they will warn you once and one again don't making noise, even you just yawn. 3. Told that stuff i need to talk to your manager to complain, and the response was: you think my manager gonna trust me or you?
I really enjoy this spa every time I visit. I like the atmosphere, quiet and calming. My favorite bath is the one with the waterfall., and I enjoy relaxing by the fire pit. The food in the cafe restaurant is really good.
Extremely disappointed with the customer service from Strom Spa. No adequate replies on the chat, no reply on the phone call services (although there was a problem with the server, nothing was written on the website), a long checkout due to a confusion and no guidance after explicitly saying it was our first time there (did not know where to get changed and did not have a map of the spa - it's hard to find your way around when it's wet and dark outside). All this ended up with us coming to the "under the stars" event where there was loud music, people talking and drinking. Although we were forewarned at reception, it was not made explicitly clear that this would be a "social/party" type of event. If we had been properly informed through the chat or the phone, which we tried many times to inquire, we would not have come. Overall, the staff was unprofessional, noisy and inconsiderate. If you are looking for a relaxing, professional ("taken care of") spa, go elsewhere, there are many amazing spas in Montreal. If you are looking for a social event, this may be your place.
Great place to enjoy some peaceful time with friends and family. The food is also amazing. You do not need a vaccin passport to access the thermal experience. So that’s so great. Just remember to keep you mask on and be quiet ????. I enjoy the cold bath ???? when I can to the spa ????♀️ with my girls. It’s really a nice place to spend some quality time. And pretty affordable too ????!!! ♥️♥️ I recommend!
Spent a really relaxing evening here. The eucalyptus steam bath was our favorite part. Very well priced for value.
Excellent! Friendly staff, facility is clean, this is a perfect place to relax! Will go back again.
The place itself is beautiful and surrounded by nature. However, the staff kept on telling us not to talk even when we were silent. We felt as though they were trying to have us leave, because they would not tell the other customers to shut up when they were talking. We felt targeted. The food tastes very good, but is quite expensive for the quantity.
I went to Strom on January 1st because I wanted to start my year on a peaceful note. Unfortunately, there were 2 different groups of people who came together that were so loud. I told the security people who walk around on three different occasions that it was really loud. Everywhere I went it was loud. When I was asked about my experience, the manager responsible that night told me it was hard for them to keep the place silent because they weren't expecting so many people. I've been there before, it didn't seem like there were so many people that they couldn't keep the place quiet. She also made me feel like I was being a whiny customer, which was not a good feeling. This place is supposed to be silent so I don't think that's a weird expectation for me to have.
Just love this spa! Amazing place to relax and hangout with my girlfriend!
It's a very clean and quite place definitely a relaxing place our entry was free because we got a 100$gift card that could be used toward our next visit.. The staff was friendly at l ile des soeurs and professional even when they explained a service that they can't offer.. The only 2 problems I found is that there was lots of relaxing chairs but no enough hot pools, only 2 with the social distancing you need to wait although the place space is very big for more hot pools! Also the restaurant is small and again we had to wait the menu also doesn't have lots of choice mostly vegetarian salads.. Other than that beautiful place and I definitely recommend ????
Spent the day at strom for my birthday last week and even with the indoor saunas and steam rooms still closed at that time it was a wonderful experience. The front desk staff were super friendly and inviting which always helps set the tone for the day. We then enjoyed the outdoor hot and cold pools, outdoor fireplaces, incredible secluded seating on the dock and lots of delicious drinks and munchies at the bistro. I look forward to going back!
This comment is for the other wheelchair users because I found it challenging to find any information online and didn’t want to call customer service. The entry wasn’t accessible considering I had to go through the plants (plants were not harmed don’t worry). You will have multiple sets of stairs all over the place (by counts of 2 or 3 minimum; twice around 10). Bathrooms are not accessible. There are ramps to access some water sources but not all. Not counting this, it was pleasant. Some of the equipment was broken in one of the only two hot water sources. It also gets crowded easily.
Booked a couple's massage at the spa with my partner. The massages were, to put it nicely, weird and not exactly a Swedish massage. I'm not sure if they are really licenced or not. Anyway the grounds were great. The water therapies were good with Covid-19 restrictions in place. They had a wet sauna, dry sauna, light therapy chairs, and relaxation rooms. We had some food in the terrace and it was fabulous. Upon checkout we were charged $70 for access to the water therapies. When we had called to book the massages we were told it was $50 each. They could have mentioned that in person upon check-in. I've been to other spas that have more amenities in the women's change room that could improve their experience like hair dryers, cream, cotton pads, razors and free borrow sandals. Robes were due to change. Overall, had a good time but glad we were there for some hours to get our money's worth. We were at the Iles de soers location.
It is a very beautiful place. But you can't really speak to one another.
The spa does not enforce its « no cellphone » rule and thus, i caught someone taking a photo of me in my swimsuit on the spa premises. They also admitted to not abiding by their 60-person limit, stating that they in …
Amazing spa with very nice pools, I went for the thermal experience and it was great, has everything from steam rooms to saunas to relaxation rooms. There are 2 hot pools (hot & warm) and 2 cold ones (cold and colder). Sitting around the fire at night next to the lake is beautiful! And that reminds, the location next to the lake give a very peaceful ambiance.
Very expensive for what they offer???????? The robe it was not white but kind of dirty towel that was used many times and lost the white color. They don't even give you a bottle of water. Not enough pools and the cold water pools, the water was very cold. Never again
Went years ago. Nice spa, everything good except that when in one of the thermal baths you’re not allowed to talk… I can understand yelling or being loud, but some very very low key chatting shouldn’t be an issue. Then one of the employees crossed his arms and “stood guard” over us. Very awkward. There’s a waterfall which muffles talking. Unless so,done is loud it won’t disturb people getting a massage.
Second time here. Really enjoy the thermal experience. They have many services to choose from. The Swedish massage was really nice though the music could have been a little bit louder. The service at the restaurant was a little slow, took a while for the soup to come.
Great experience with an absolutely amazing setting. Quite busy on Saturdays, though. Will definitely visit again, nonetheless
It's a small spa, and I am not a huge fan of spas in general but this one had enough to accommodate my need and make the girlfriend happy also with their multitude of massage choices. The meal is mostly vegetarian, you won't notice if you have their chili to my surprise tasted really good.
Been trying to reach someone for 2 days now to book a package. It's impossible. How can we get a hold of somehow? We've already paid...
Poor service from the beginning to the end, huge lack of professionalism. Went there for a massage - Staff is not welcoming at all, asking us to pay as soon as we entered the spa. Didn't give us any instructions or details about the massage or where to go before. We had to change in the tiny cabin which was not convenient at all, there was no place to put our clothes, so we had to put them on the floor... The cabin was tiny, and noisy (floor was cracking, we could hear the people talking outside). Music was simply rain noise on a poor quality speaker. We were two in the cabin and our massage therapists were talking together and laughing. The massage itself was not that great and I couldn't relax. After the massage, we couldn't even take a shower as the receptionist didn't want to give us towels and robes as we "only came for a massage". All of this for $320. If you want to relax, go to Bota Bota where people are professionals and where you'll make a good use of your money.
My preferred spa throughout COVID since there's lots of outdoor space but it's still close to the city.
Honestly just like other reviewer the staff came to my friend and I NUMEROUS time to tell us to be quiet when there were people talking much louder than us, and we were whispering! When we were supposed to go eat, there was NO ONE else sitting around us, yet it took 15 minutes for the lady who was standing RIGHT in front of us to come and serve us. Going to get a massage done, the masseuse who came to greet us didn't even look like they wanted to be bothered with us. Honestly, first and last time I come here it's unbelievable.
I enjoyed my experience here very much. The service (both on the phone and in person) was excellent. Even though it was crowded, there seemed to be more than enough room for everyone in the main spa areas and the amount of thermal baths, saunas, relaxation rooms and the steam room did not disappoint. The reception area can however feel cramped if there is a line up of people and I wish that there was another area to exchange towels due to this. The women’s locker room is a bit of a tight squeeze, but nothing that isn’t manageable. The only thing that caused me to rate this 4 stars instead of 5 was that there was hair all over the shower and what seemed to be conditioner on the shower knob/handle. Regardless of that fact, I’ll be going back.
Beautiful facilities, but the women's locker room and front desk staff size are much too small for the number of clients coming through on weekends and holidays. It would also be nice if the spa would consider out-of-town guests before printing all of their marketing materials (posters, custom magazine, etc.) entirely in French.
I love the view but it is a bit too small for the number of people they take in. In addition, they don't let you talk or laugh which is so unusual for me to have a staff behaving like a cop and reminding me to be silent! If I want to just sit in hot water in silence I would do it at home! Plus people steal the towel you pay for. Either take your own towel or just don't take any.
I decided to go to this spa because my father had a good experience with my sister, and it was my 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend, we decided to get the lempia package with the couples massage hoping for a romantic day and night. The lockers would either not open or not close after switching twice. However overall we had a good experience, the one element that ruined our stay was the tattoo’d male Sebastian or something, touched my girlfriend inappropriately, and almost broke into tears because she thought she was cheating on me and didn’t want to cause a commotion on our special day. Only after the massage did she tell me this and we had to leave right away because we both could not handle the stress and anxiety created by the situation! My massage was professional and from a female, who I gladly tipped because of the comfort and professionalism. I’m absolutley disgusted that his happened to us on our special day and I strongly recommend if you come here only choose females, and or only take the day at the baths an extreme waste of 400$+. This memory will leave a strong dislike for the place and won’t ever come again nor my family and friend. He even had the urge to tell girlfriend “whispering so I wouldn’t hear” to come back for a longer experience, because our time together was too short. My name was under Marlon Le Melinaire Feb 2nd I’m expecting a compensation for my completely ruined night.
Small parking. Small spa but has everything you need. It's not far from the city but feels like you are far from the city. Has a view over a small lake and other than few taller buildings, you don't see anything but nature. Unfortunately the relaxation room at the bottom with the crackling firewood (next to the sauna) doesn't have firewood anymore due to new regulations. And also note, the nordic showers don't work in colder weather, they shut off the vales to prevent any explosion during freezes. I thought the facilities weren't properly maintained until I asked someone about the 2 non functional items. There are some outdoor fireplaces that work with gas gel but it was raining when we went so there were no indoor fireplace resting room options. Went for the thermal baths and a facial. My aesthetician wasn't as good as my mom's, didn't ask me for how I liked the pressure during the massage part and only later when speaking with my mom did I realize it could be stronger. They offered us a 15% off for the next time, which was nice except it would have been more helpful to offer us a discount for this time, I don't go to the spa that often and I usually try different ones. Staff is helpful and friendly. Although the front desk check in check out had lines the whole time we were there and it was slow Moving. Took a good 10-15 minutes of wait before we check in and 15-20 of waiting to checkout. If you're there for 3 hours, that's a lot of waiting to relax.
This is a beautiful place to relax and the staff is very friendly. This is my second visit and unfortunately the towels are getting thin and the bathrobes are thin and going grey, also I noticed tiles missing in areas. It also seems that …
Very nice place to relax! There are 3 saunas and several baths. The massage I had was very good for my back. The place itself not so big but it clean and calm with a nice view of the lake. We took a package with wine and meal. Wife's salmon and my meat were delicious! We've spent nice 3 hours in this Spa! Would recommend to everyone.
I went for my birthday with two of my friends. We had the best day!! So relaxing and the view was amazing. Also, had the best massage. Definitely will return.
Terrible terrible customer service! I was spoken to rudely and was charged full price for canceling on the day of my cancellation deadline. Not only did they refuse proper service, they lied and couldn’t be sympathetic to my reasons of canceling. I would not recommend.
This is my go to spa in the greater Montreal area. The ambiance is beautiful, relaxing, and the amenities are wonderful. The food at the restaurant is very delicious as well! I recommend the stracciatella di bufala and the pork porchetta. I highly recommend Strom!
I visited this place at 6pm after making a reservation. Service was amazing, remote quite location and they have everything any other good spa place has (but bigger). Make sure you get your own flip-flops or such with you. 100% will go back again!
Such a beautiful place only few minutes out of the downtown. Hot baths, cold baths, dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room, and bunch of relaxation rooms. Very clean, friendly receptionists, a place I would definitely go back again. Very comfortable and you'd fall asleep in relaxation rooms.
I went there on 10/4/2021 along with friends. One of my friends caught a guy taking pictures of her in her bikini with his cellphone. The spa unfortunately doesn't enforce the no cellphone rule. Also there were numerous times where people weren't only quietly chatting but we're speaking so loud that it was disturbing. No staff member seemed told them to quiet down. Unfortunately it's not a very safe of confortable place unless they fix these issues.
Love this place... attended their "nights under the stars" event. It was fun.. they had live music n DJ and cocktails. It's even good for groups and special occasions.
Beautiful view, great staff. I felt like I was walking on a cloud after my massage
Great place, close from Griffintown so totally worth it but try to escape the crow by going on a weekday or rainy Friday, that was nice! Maybe some people talk too much but that’s always the case everywhere you go. Never tried massage, I have another place for that. Maybe they should have better promotion off season would be great.
Our boss brought us for cozy Thursday and we loved it! Beautiful spa, great service and the DJ was great. We had a bite to eat which was delightful and the sangria was quite refreshing. Decouverte gourmande was interesting and fun. Will definitely be going back.
awesome experience in this location super clean and friendly staff
It wasnt my favorite. There was not a lot of shaded areas and I felt like I was baking. Also there was a lot of bugs, which is to be expected being near the water. Although while i was resting in a restroom, i noticed there was cob webs in the corners of the bed I was laying in. It kind of grossed me out. Everything else was nice tho, but comparing to other spas in and around Mtl, this one isnt the best.
Really different ambiance on a Saturday night!Quite busy, some areas more so than others but overall, still a beautiful setting with loads of water relaxation spans. The snowfall added the perfect touch.
Great experience minus some receptionists. Would recommend and come back, but hope they train staff to be more customer focused. Spa is clean, loved the variety of hot/cold pools and saunas (steam sauna was my favourite). I did not feel cold once despite visiting in the winter and stepping into the snow. Massages were great (highly recommend Marco), and I loved the outdoor massage cabins. There are keys and bracelets for your locker. You can take unlimited towels but are only assigned one robe. I couldn't give it 5 stars because some of the reception at the front were not accommodating and also mixed up our massage reservations saying that we missed our appointment when we didn't get a confirmation email for that time or a call when the slot was mixed up. When we requested to add an extra person last minute we were initially declined because of their system restrictions, receptionist didn't seem to care that she was essentially say no to extra money. This receptionist also didn't let us know about the current promotion. Good thing the other one did, or we wouldnt have known.
Serene escape located in the city. Great massages and facilities. Can get a little cramped, especially during COVID.
if you purchase a package make sure that you screen shot what it includes. I purchased a gourmet package and premium thermal experience package and was told by 4 different employees that both packages only include entrance to the thermal spa when in fact the gourmet package includes food, a bottle of water and wine and the premium package includes coffee, a free bathrobe exchange and a free gift. If i hadn't been able to show the employees what the packages include i would have had to pay an extra $100+ on top of what i had already paid for.
Best place for thermal spa and massages. We haven't tried massages though. Various kinds of places to relax. Their a bistro as well where you can lunch.
My first experience here. Went with my wife to use the baths. The spa is beautiful and clean it was a very relaxing experience, however, the customer service was a bit disappointing. My wife and I each ordered a tea from the restaurant. After waiting about 20 mins for tea seated at a table, the waitress brought us hot water with the tea bags on the side. We found it a little ridiculous to wait 20 minutes for hot water. Also the reception staff had a cold attitude when responding to our questions the woman seemed annoyed with us. Overall the baths were great but the customer service could be better.
Nothing was bad (except the corn soup at the restaurant). All the rest was ok.
So I went here on Friday August 20th 2021, and my experience really wasn’t what I expected for the price. The locker room was small and not spread out enough to have any sort of space or privacy to change, they allow way too many people to be here for the amount of space they can actually offer, I was changing with 3 strangers right next to me. When my robe got dirty, they refused to give me another one, so I was walking around in a wet and dirty robe all day. The pools were nice, but wow so many bugs floating around! Do they not have cleanings done periodically? Lots of groups of people talking loudly too, with no staff telling them to be quiet. For lunch we were in line to eat for 40+ minutes, there’s no option to take a ticket and return later so you can enjoy the spa without standing in line. Not enough seating at that restaurant for the sheer number of clients they allow in the space, and they don’t allow you to bring your own food or have your food brought to you elsewhere in the spa so you don’t have to stand there! The actual restaurant service was just poor, servers sound new and inexperienced, the food was decent at least, but so expensive for being the only food offered. So many wasps here, my friend was freaking out because she’s allergic. Probably a 4/10 experience overall, I won’t be coming back.
Lovely spa with various treatments available. Excellent massage therapists. Very relaxing environment to do the thermal experience. Lovely view of the water, fireplaces. Highly recommend.
Really solid spa and massage experience. Went for a couple's massage, and my wife and I have nothing but positive things to say. The facilities were clean, comfortable and quiet.
I went here a couple times and it truly is amazing!!!!! great staff, very relaxing!!! I love it!! highly recommend <3 <3
Always a nice time here, allows us to decompress and relax. Massage therapists are great, professional, and do a fantastic job. Customer service is nice, generally.
Beautiful , clean and relaxing spa conveniently located. I love how it is surrounded by nature, the layout of the hot and cool pools, sauna, fire pit and relaxation spots. Signage is clear which is nice for first timers. I love their use of eucalyptus , the refreshing tea and lemon water available . Took my cousin there twice and we enjoyed it . Went with my hubby for a couples massage outside in their tent, it was relaxing and an enjoyable experience! Highly recommend!
Used to be my favorite place, but the fact that they do not answer their phone at all has ruined my opinion of the business. Called on two separate occasions to request massages and was on hold for 15 minutes each time, and only then given the option to leave a message. Contacted them by email as well. I did not receive a response until TWO DAYS LATER. Just unacceptable. I feel so bad for the massage therapists losing work because the front desk can't get their act together. On my last visit the staff were all kids. Many sections were closed. The steam room smelled like feet and the walls were actually slimy. Used to be comfortable paying good money for their spa because the facility was cleaner and better managed. Now, the price is far too high for the service they provide.
Relaxing outdoor spa. Love the fact that they are open late so you can use the spas after work or school. Very clean baths and saunas. I would suggest having a bathroom attendant to frequently clean the showers and washrooms in the ladies room. It's a busy area and doesn't seem to always be stocked. Don't expect wonders from the menu either
I liked the outdoor aesthetic, but they were not strict on people being quiet in the silent zones. I enjoy the contemplative peace of silence when I visit the spa and Strom didn't provide that. They need to be more diligent with telling people to be quiet.
This is a great spa, they have multiple saunas, comfy chairs to relax outside, cafe menu is limited but plates are tasty and calorie conscious. I had a great massage with Jean Sebastian. If you want to escape, relax a few minutes from downtown Montreal, I recommend this spot.
The spa itself is beautiful. You feel far away from the city. The baths feel luxurious and I love the board walk down to the lake, it's calm and you can't hear any noise from the city. I went to their event "Friday b under the stars" I got full package massage-dinner-baths. It is special because you can talk on site and order drinks and their is dj playing cool music. The massage was great, massage therapist listened to what I wanted. They were on time. I would not recommend the food, It felt like it was overpriced Cafe food put on a fancy plate for the event. Only the main course was included with 1 drink. The service was slow but the waiters were very nice. If I go again I will not get the food. I Hope to return, it was a very nice experience. I would love to see them include sandals in the Price like other spas do. The locker rooms were nice. I love all the soaps. Would like to see them add things like other spas often include: elastics, combs, spray on deodorant.
We visited Strom Spa on Friday, June 18th, 2021. Our massages were exceptional and the changing room/locker room was very clean. However, the remainder of our experience was poor and dampened by a mild medical emergency with very little …
There was a summer sale to use the geothermal baths/hot sauna for $37 with tax included. Redeemed last night, Lian & Claude helped to make this possible with ease. Really appreciated their help and definitely a great relaxing place for Valentine's weekend Gave 4/5 cause I compared to blue lagoon in Iceland which gave a drink & face mask, otherwise cool spot Also add, there was an issue with billing but again sorted it out. thanks again Strom!!
Absolutely disgusting customer service. I highly discourage anyone to go there as the experience there for me and my husband was one to remember. I’ve been to other spas and the service doesn’t compare.
BAD!! This place is bad. I tried to buy a gift card, the website said that there was a problem with my credit card but still got charged. I tried to call them but lost my time too. No answers. I have beem robbed by this place without even going there.
Had the full package experience. It may be expensive but you will feel like you’ve been born again into a danish sect of white robed followers. I tell ya it feels good! I will say however the duck was amazing to eat off the bone like in the good old days but I just wished there was more on the plate.
Absolutely no more!!!???? My husband and I were regulars at the spa, prices were always decent until our last experience. It started with our reservation not meeting the specified requirements, we were used of having our usual veterans masseuses, but following they're departure we were ensure that they will accommodate similar level of experiences, nope got stuck with beginners????, then we ate at the bistro???? where everything was extremely salty???? and overpriced???? (80$ for 2) following changes to they're menu.???? And last but not least when it came time to pay????, we were advised that we could not mix an employee discount with a gift certificate with the value of 100$.???? We had to pick one or the other, therefor we opted to do 2 seperate bills for each names so I could use my gift certificate and my husband his Bell employee discount, but unfortunately they refused.???? The end total was about 500???? for regular 60 mins swedish for each, bath access and the bistro food.???? Strom spa is old, for sure the increase is due to their renovations⚠️ and openings of new sections????, but for that price, it's definitely not worth it, go to Scandinavia in Tremblant or Balnea Bromont instead and make the best of the day.???? Reception service was not the greatest and completely dismissal of our unsatisfactions. Btw most of their best masseuses are gone!???? We understand that they need to make room for new masseuses but a sort of review should be done to ensure quality. Hopefully the necessary mesures will be taken so this doesn't happen to someone else!!! Our experience got forever ruined.
took 3 days to finally got somebody on the phone , if you want to cancel your reservation they still charge and you don’t get a refund
Went on Aug. 20th 2020 (Rainy day, still worth it) ???? Price : I got my pass with the Hygge Promotion. All access Thursday after 5:00pm-10:00pm + table d’hôte. Definitely a great deal. Regular price is still okay since the site is huge. ???? Service : every staff member were very helpful. They give clear instructions at the cash since there were some activities that were closed in round. A lot of control regarding health and safety of the visitors and staff members. I’m very satisfied. Also, contacted customer service through messenger as well before coming in, just as helpful as the in-site representative. ???? Ambiance : so many spaces to lounge and nap. The atmosphere is amazing. The light the lantern right before sunset, it felt like another part of town, or more like you’re in the middle of the forest. It’s my favourite in-town spa so far. A lot of activities to do too and it’s not crowded, even with the promotion, I did not bump into someone else or change activity. ???? Food : Table d’hôte was okay. It was light and filling. The cabbage soup was although bland. The drink was great and so was the “burger” with the salad. I went there more for the spa and not for the food tho. So I wasn’t too mad about it Overall: Very satisfied, relaxed and happy with the great service. Will definitely come back and recommend to anyone else
Everything but the massage service is closed as expected. Booked a 90 mins deep tissue massage for the new year. Arrived 15 mins before the scheduled time, the masseur was late and started to count the 90 mins as the scheduled time. When I was ready and on the table it was at least 10 - 15 mins in. So I did not get my full 90 mins massage. Appreciate the strong pressure the masseur gave, however, he did not work on the left side of my shoulder, it felt weird afterwards, as one side was relaxed and the other was tensed. Otherwise, was it a good experience? If you can look away the masseur being late and missed a part of my body. Yeah, it was good, not great. I thought going to a spa establishment like Strom, it would ensure a certain quality and practice. I was disappointed. Will I give it another try? I have to, again, thought it was Strom and it would be exceptional, so bought 2 massages in advance. So will go again and try another masseur. Will update my experience and rating after the 2nd visit.
Clean, relaxing and chic. Location is great - you feel like you are in the forest even though you're still in the city. Got a massage, enjoyed a meal at the restaurant and dipped into the thermal baths. Definitely recommend this place if you need to recharge.
Excellent spa with amazing pools, saunas, and relaxation areas. Including, but not limited to a barrel sauna, a scented sauna, a waterfall cool bath, and relaxation room with heated beds. Amazing and relaxing way to take your mind off things, a little outside the city.
I am a frequent user of the services- however, recently myself and my partner booked massages in the early morning. The massage therapists never showed up and the spa was not very accommodating and didn't provide any type of client service, they were not even apologetic.
The massage I had was great but it was hard to enjoy my experience in the hot tubs. The staff was constantly shushing other guest who weren't even being disruptive. People were just whispering quietly amongst themselves, quiet enough that they couldn't be head even if they were in the same hot tube as my group, yet everyone was being told that they had to be quiet or leave. My companions and I were told we were talking too loudly in the restaurant while eating lunch! I've never seen this before at any spa I've been too, it was too much. Everyone was keeping one eye open for employees at all times, just so you could have a conversation. Ruined the experience.
3 words: AVOID THIS SPA. Boyfriend and I went for a romantic evening: what a TERRIBLE experience. Worst massage we EVER received (a 5 year old's massage would have been more enjoyable), spa was extremely noisy, there was a group of teenagers yelling and laughing in the water and the personnel didn't do or say anything, and the food was pretty average. For $400+++ dollars, not worth it at all, money completely wasted. Go to Spa Finlandais, they're 1000000 times better.
Very disappointed with the "customer service" at the Nun's island location. i purchased a voucher off of Shopico and immediately called the spa to see if there were any restrictions other than the after 5 pm regulations. My friend and i showed up this evening and surprise surprise, apparently it's high season and our vouchers were not eligible. I was passed on from person to person, each one more incompetent than the next and sadly unable to think outside the box or take any initiative in retaining a regular customer. They would not bend at all. They took my phone number and said they would check their phone records (??since when do they record phone conversations??) to see if my story checked out. Then "junior" disappeared for a couple of minutes and came back with the same "sorry not sorry" attitude. It's unfortunate that they appoint a child as a manager; a seasoned professional would have known to apologize for the incompetence of their staff and tried to make some concession. A bunch of clowns at the helm...I'll make sure to direct friends and business associates to Sky Spa in Brossard from now on.
Excellent water features and sauna temps. The bistro made an excellent soup and grilled cheese. Coffee was great. The bistro is also a great place to wait for your turn in the waters. Three cold plunges, cold and regular showers. My favourite was the eucalyptus steam room which I alternated with the cold waterfall just outside the steam room. The stress just melted away. The wait was 1:45h before we were admitted.
I went to get my first pedicure since February. I’m very conservative when it comes to going out these days but I thought it might be time. The safety measures are great (see photos) plus lots of clear signage and staff to help. Everything was sanitized like counters and all surfaces and tools for each client. Aside from the great safety measures, the pedicure was great. Nice technician, great looking toes and a much needed massage.
Good spa with predictable services. Nice location.
Close to St Laurent river and nested in a place where you feel far away from the busy city. All accomodations are fine. In winter, it is sometimes difficult to find where to rest: there are not so many seats available and it it difficult to assess how full they are until in front of it. However, definitely a place to visit.
My friend and I had an AMAZING time at Strom Spa. The spa and surrounding area is beautiful and calm. Situated pretty much in the middle of nature with lots of trees and a lagoon. The service was great...90 mins of massage was superb and I truly needed it after 15 hr drive from Savannah-GA, USA. The food was fabulous, loved my salad and duck sandwich. It was fresh and tasted so good. All in all it was a great relaxing afternoon. Highly recommended!
I went for the first time to one of this places. I went with my wife and the kid and it was an amazing experience. The personal was very kind and attentive. To go back and to recommend.
Great in town feel out if town upscale spa! We loved our experience there! We had a couples massage that both my bf and i loved! The massothérapists were professional and friendly! Food and wine pairing at the restaurant was great too! Get the bundle package. You will save money that way! You can also buy gift cards at Costco before going there.
Very nice spa! Extremely clean. Very friendly and helpful customer service. They’re Eucalyptus Steam Room... yes please! Weekends and evenings are very busy. If you have a full-day, you can really get the most out of it! Either way, you’ll be extremely satisfied with this places services and you’ll get your money’ worth.
I love this place! The massages are always good, the bistro is nice, the location is beautiful, and the relaxing areas are my favorite.
My favorite SPA of all time! Very cozy, small and intimate. Amazing food, great massages and sooooo clean and cute! Great service - everyone is so nice and welcoming. Love you guys!
My time there was really good...but when I arrived at the spa they didn’t give me a tour as to where everything was located. They just handed me the towel and house coat and key and said the changing room was downstairs and I can wait down the hall in the waiting room for my massage. ( no explanation about where the thermal water circuit was or what it was, I had to find it myself) when I got called in for the massage the room was freezing. His hands were freezing too but that’s not his fault..it took me a good 15 minutes to warm up though..the massage was good. I felt relaxed afterwards. He was a bit rough in some areas though. The thermal experience was amazing.. Beautiful...Quiet and relaxing. The food is very good. Especially the soup. I think it was broccoli soup. The service for the bistro however was very slow. All in all besides those small things I liked it there and would definitely return.
Always a pleasure. This is my favourite self care spot. I'll always go back again and again.
This will be my first and forever last visit to this place, incredibly bad service here, first in the reception, we were having some trouble with our online purchase of the gift certificate, and the girl at the reception refused to give us …
Very beautiful urban spa that is thoughtfully laid out to take full advantage of its unbeatable location. Sunday brunch was very good but, having been there quite a few times before I was slightly disappointed with the massage which was OK but nothing special (I remember them having some of the best massage therapists in the city but it appears times have changed as my friend felt the same way with her massage). I would highly recommend to the owners that they re-visit the policies they have established with their silence monitors. As important as maintaining a level of silence is to a spa, so is relaxation. Having someone dressed all in black standing behind a bush waiting to pounce on someone is not very relaxing. Zealousness taken a little bit to the extreme.
Firstly, I do not like writing bad reviews of local businesses and I do it so rarely. The only reason I am doing it now is because I hope my comments will help Strom improve their services. This spa may look nice, but their customer service is severely lacking. My friends and I booked this spa in advance for our friends' (twins) milestone birthday. Our group reservation was for the Friday under the stars event, and we booked the dinner and cocktails package. We had contacted the Strom a few weeks before our appointment to see if we can do something special to mark the occasion: they said no to bringing a cake, balloons or any decorations. The events coordinator I spoke to on the phone told me that she was going to call me back to see if they can do something for our group. She never called back. Fine – we followed the rules. The event started at 8 pm and we all arrived about 7:30 pm. We were given a towel and bathrobe and were told to be at the bistro at 7:55 pm because the meal will be served at 8:00 pm. We walked around the spa, then arrived at the Bistro at 7:55 pm… only to find out that the spa did not reserve a table for our group. So, we were forced to eat separately. The bistro was packed, and only had 2 waiters to serve the guests. The poor waiters tried their best to keep the clients happy but, in the end, it took us more than 1.5 hours to finish our 3-course dinner because the service was really slow. Some of my friends who have little kids had been looking forward to some R&R, and were unhappy that they did not get to spend as much time using the pools and sauna. Before leaving, we spoke to the manager who said that somebody from the spa would call us to understand what went wrong. It has been a week now, and still no calls from the spa. My friends and I will never go back to this spa; I would not recommend this place for a small group reservation (were were 6).
You have to try the Eucalyptus Steam Bath! I recommend this Spa for any occasion! Whether you need an afternoon to find your Zen or you want to spend some quality time with friends or family, you cannot go wrong! First time visiting this spa and what a treat! All staff and personnel were polite and courteous. The atmosphere is serene and well maintained. Facility was clean and other patrons were respectful of each other. Most areas are quiet areas so be mindful of others while visiting. Few tips for your visit: check online for any specials they are having for the season, bring some flip-flops or sandals that are easy to take off, and ask the receptionist to thoroughly explain the process of going from hot to cold areas.
Strom is not hygge experience under any angle. We took the "Experience Decouverte" including the massage, dinner and spa for 210$. From the get-go, its been disappointing experience as the check-in process was inefficient (took over 1/2 hour) and unfriendly. They "forgot" to mention the restaurant was closing at 7 PM while we had a massage booked at 6. They tried to accommodate us for 7 PM at the restaurant, but the small place was closed beyond giving two plates without any service, couldn't even bother to give us bread. The food was disgusting to the point we didn't even eat our plates. Ah... and the massage was disappointing, the massotherapist wasn't confident of herself and you could feel it .... and it lasted c. 45 min instead of the paid hour. The only positive thing was the quality of the saunas, but overall very, very disappointing experience, not worth your time, effort and price tag.
beautiful place and relaxing just the food section need some upgrading!
Got a facial from Lea and a massage from George. Both were excellent. Staff was professional and good at what they do.
Beautiful spa! A bit small but definitely worth visiting. Received a very relaxing massage over the weekend and had a thermal experience as well. Well worth the money that you pay. Will definitely be going back. The only thing I thought was weird was that we had to pay for the services before we received them, I would have rather paid afterwards, just because it makes leaving a tip much easier in my opinion.
Always great. Facilities keep expanding. Lots of choices for typical Scandinavian spa procedure of hot-cold-relax. Fantastic food if you want to eat a great lunch without leaving facilities. One of my favourites spa’s in Quebec, highly recommended
Great ambiance, great facilities! I went there with my pregnant wife and everything was perfect until we went to the bistro to have lunch ... nothing seemed very appetizing so we asked the girl if it was possible to have a chicken or turkey wrap or pannini since my wife was craving that and she right away told us its impossible... they had only egg wrap ... so we had no choice to order that ... couple of minute later we see the table next to us being served with a chicken panini... so I went to see them for explanation and they answered me rudely “ couple of minutes ago it was not available and now it is so we are sorry” so I wonder alright spending 400$ and this is what you get as an answer... ! I hope they will do something about it ... at least train the bistro employees how customer service works!
Nice place, but you gotta be there early on weekends because they fill up really fast! Last visit one of the finnish saunas was not working and had to go back up to get a new key. A bit more maintenance and check up could save some trouble for the clients. Amazing steam baths with a constant mist, the temperature of the saunas are perfect and nice snacks.
This actually my favorite spa to go that's close to the city. You really feel like you're on resort far away from the hustle and bustle. Looks like they updated their facilities since last year and the experience is even more enjoyable. The only reason i don't give it 5 stars is because the front desk is disorganized and even though you pick specific services and add-ons when you purchase online ahead of time, they don't have the details in your file so if you don't speak up you won't get what you paid for (ex adding hot stones to your massage). Also, due to COVID note that the number of people allowed in any closed or semi closed space is reduced, but it feels like the same number of guests are on site as pre-pandemic so the wait times can be a bit long to use particular sauna or pool. I suggest going as early as possible on weekends or plan your spa day during the week :)
Rather disappointed as my therapist had ice cold hands. It was November when I went and it wasn’t the best experience. Great venue though. Very picturesque.
I have been to many spas in Canada (Bota Bota in Montreal, Thermea in Winnipeg to name a few) and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had in a spa. First, when I booked my package for 4 people online I had to call them again to verify my information as they audit anything over $300. No biggie, but they weren’t able to find my gift certificate in their system and gave me tremendous attitude when I asked them about the Father’s Day promotion, as well as the birthday promotion (as it was my birthday). Even though online it mentioned that I could use 10% off my visit, they refused to honour that and was very rude, because “they recently changed the rules”, which was not indicated anywhere on their website or in person. Second of all, while we were in the thermal baths, we tried to respect the silence rules. However, we had two staff literally follow us around the site, telling us to be quiet every time we literally whispered one word. One of the staff came up to us and said that we were talking loudly in the spa when we said literally said “let’s go?” Despite him asking me many times to repeat what I said to the staff because he couldn’t hear me over the sound of the waterfalls. It was extremely uncomfortable having the two staff follow us constantly and hawking at us and standing right above our heads, hawking at us while we were just trying to relax and take a nap. There was another couple that went into the hot bath after us that were talking very loudly as well, and they didn’t get followed around. I feel like they were targeting me and my sister because we were Asian, which according to my other Asian friends they have experienced the same type of treatment due to their race at this spa. Third, the restaurant service and taste in food was terrible. We got our food extremely slow (waited over 40 min) and our main course came before our appetizer cheese board. We had finished our main course already and had to wait for our cheese board to come. The soup tasted like water with boiled lentils, and I thought it was just me but other people in my group tried and they had the same negative opinion. When we went to pay, due to the slow service we didn’t feel comfortable with tipping a large amount but the waiter chased us down and asked for a higher tip because “the food we ordered had a $130 value and you are not tipping enough”. I understand that people in the service industry work minimum wage and need tips to make ends meet, but that is under the assumption that we received good and prompt service. The soup was gross, the service was slow, but I didn’t want to get into a fight with the waiter while I am trying to relax so I tipped $25 anyways. The scenery is peaceful and beautiful, however the staff and service at this place ruined the experience. Today was my birthday and I was extremely looking forward to spending a nice day with my partner, but instead everything added together left a bitter taste in my mouth. I would definitely not come here again to spend my money. I never write reviews because I have better things to do with my time, but I was so upset with my day here that I think others need to know what I went through so they know what they’re getting themselves into. Whether it’s racism or anti-anglophonism I don’t know, but it’s 2021 and as a relaxing high end spa it’s not worth the $100+ I paid for.
Covid measures here are not respected by most of the guests. The maximum capacity of saunas and rest rooms are not followed. One worker once saw this in the dry sauna and she didn't do anything to remind the people of the rule.. This is in contrast of the Strom spa in Quebec City where in workers were really telling people off (in a nice way) of the maximum capacity of each facility. Also, I'm not sure why most guests don't use towels to sit on in the saunas.. It's disgusting. Maybe the receptionists should remind guests of this upon check in? It's for hygienic reasons, no? Receptionists were friendly and helpful. Locker room was on the smaller side with so much noise from people. The staff were wiping off the handles of doors every hour or so, kudos to that! Gift cards need to be validated by showing ID of the giver. This could be a hassle if the giver isn't available presto. This should be done upon purchasing the gift cards to avoid prolonging the check in process and to avoid bothering the gift card giver. The place has good views and the sound of the birds were relaxing.. The greenish blue massage tents looked very cheap thou in an expensive and nice setting lol. Overall a so so expérience from this branch of Strøm.
I had bought a package for two people for Strom for my mothers birthday that included: thermal experience, 60 minute massage, a festive meal and a drink. When I called to book the massage, I booked it for 6pm.and on the phone they never told me the restaurant would close at 7pm even though the spa closes at 10pm. When we got to the spa today, we checked in at 430pm and again, the receptionist failed to mention the restaurants early close time. By the time we got checked in and ready it was 5pm, leaving us 1h to do thermal before our massage appointment. Before the massage, I heard the restaurant closes at 7pm so we asked for an extended grace period so we could get what we paid for. They said no bur they'd reimburse the restaurant part of the package. We didn't want that, we were starving and wanted to enjoy our entire package. They do not have any communication within their staff, they are not accommodating, and we left more stressed then when we arrived. And because of how bad they made our experience we didn't even fully enjoy the thermal because we only did the 1h before our massage. The only good part of the entire experience was the massages and that's thanks to our masseurs, not the spa. Frankly, never going back here again. Waste of money. Would rather go to Bota Bota again.
very nice spa but I have to give 3 stars because of the disposable cups for the water...really? a spa in "nature"? in 2019? there is absolutely no reason to use disposable cups! when i mentioned it to the receptionist she said they send it to recycling... so if you don't know yet very few things actually end up recycled when you put them in recycling. and a cup that's a mix of cardboard and plastic (like yours) does not get recycled. also it really looks cheap.and it's a quick fix! :)
I love this place so much! I visited their Ile des soeurs location twice and both times have been delightful. The facilities are well maintained and the baths are clean. I am always greeted with respect and good service upon arrival...however it's a different story upon departure. Both times have included slow service and rushed staff, making the end experience bitter sweet. If you decide to go there, make sure to pay and figure out the logistics before even entering the spa!
This spa is great if you are close by. It is located on the beautiful nuns island which is a very prestige place in Montreal. If you go early in the morning it is way more peaceful and would highly recommend the brunch. It is great quality and only use top ingredients. One thing that would make this place even better is if there would be water available in more areas of the “resort”. I found myself often searching for water. Most bring a water bottle and carry it around. The robes are also really comfortable.
Nice and quiet relaxing place. During holidays the spa is closed and only massages were allowed. The massage rooms are individual rooms outside facing the lake and all are equipped with infrared heated light. I felt comfortable inside although the room is very small. The massage table is heated also! No locker nor water is provided due to covid restrictions. The therapist i had was respectful and experienced enough and helped relieved my muscle pain. I'd certainly come back when everything is open.
We went for a couples day at the spa. Was a fantastic day spent relaxing in the hot water. We also took one of the packages that gave us access to the hot tubs, 1 hr massage together, a plate each from the restaurant on site and a drink from the bar. Was a great deal and well money spent. Would recommend this spa for others to try. Go with some friends, partner or even by your self. Can't wait to go back ????
Wont be going back. I spent two years going to Spa Strom regularly with a membership. Brought friends and family, bought items from their shop and food from their restaurant. Thousands of dollars. One day I bought a pair of their slip on shoes for $28. Went to the locker room. Wore them to one hot tub. Had them for a total of 30 minutes. They were *extremely* uncomfortable. I went to return them. They would not take them or exchange them. They chose not to give me $28 and I choose not to renew my membership. Not smart business people.
Massage were nice but thermal experience was so expensive even though 20% discount because nothing inside is open (steam room etc). It should be included when taken with a massage... We kind feel ripped off to pay for this limited thermal experience.
Impossible to contact , does not makes any sense that if you do a reservation you can not cancel or they stay with your money
I have been going to this sap for the last 3 years, my last vist last month the serviec was really not up to the repetation or the price you pay; too many people, waited 45 min to get my lunch (not even acknowledging the delay in service), not clean, they refuse to accept cash (other places started acception cash)...that was my last visit to this SPA, never going back if they do not improve the service.
Just love this place, very peaceful, great amenities, reasonably priced, and very close to downtown Montreal. No trip to Montreal is complete without a visit to Strom.
Just amazing. Great staff and amazing, clean facilities. Super relaxing and when I left I felt amazing.
Took the black Friday promotion for the thermal experience. Overall a very good time and a nice ambiance at night. Facilities were very clean. Rating four stars because the robes were worn and have seen better days. The wait at the restaurant was also quite long, but this wouldn't have been bothersome of someone would have come and checked in with us after 15 minutes.
Thermal Experience Breakdown: No one seems to give all the details of what the thermal experience entails so here it is. First of all call before you go. Our Monday night experience was very different than others' weekend. They don't pack their location which is wonderful so you have to find out if their is a wait EVEN if you bought a pass for that night. After 6pm M-Thursday is a great deal if you purchase it it online and it is also a lovely time of night to wind down outdoors. So there are THREE periods to the cycle. There is the hot and the cold and the relaxation periods and you can choose to do a "cycle" as many times as you want with whatever options (10-15 mins warm/hot, 15 seconds cold, and then 15 minutes relaxation is suggested by Strom). You can even just sit in the warm comfy warm water only , but that takes away from the experience. Three hours is a good amount of time to be there for the thermal experience..maybe longer if you get a service and eat at their healthy cafe. Most of the areas require silence, or a very quiet conversation volume in a few places. I'd say, it is a quiet zone all and all. Not a good place for PDA/intimacy or going with friends to engage in conversation. You won't be seen in a welcoming light. You walk around lovely grounds in the provided robe and towel. Flip flops/sandals are required and it is not a nude spa-but bikinis seem to to be the comfortable choice for most women of all shapes and ages. Men were wearing from speedos to trunks. It really is a no judgement zone. The areas are flagstone decorated with lots of plants and tall grasses creating natural partitions and noise reduction, on a natural hill. On different levels and buildings you can choose from a variety of cold, hot, and relaxation options. The Hot Options:::: 10-15 mins suggested each: Eucalyptus Steam Sauna Room, Finish Dry Heat Sauna Rooms (2?), Super Large Hot Tub/Dipping Pool with Jets and with Super Strong Large Waterfall, or a Medium Hot Tub with Jets with Nice Decorative Boulders to add interest. The Cold Water Options:::: Small cold dipping pool, Larger cold dipping pool knee heights with same large waterfall but cold (68 degrees), square soaking shower, or another cold outdoor shower. The Relaxation options:::: Various rooms with chairs and comfy couches, some rooms with various flat surfaces with mats, pillows and blankets to fall asleep in with black out curtains, hammocks outside with pillows and blankets, lots of adirondack chairs around an outdoor fireplace, lots of outdoor chaise lounges, some small indoor rooms with magazines, very large round lounging chairs outdoors, and a few chaise lounges by a faux dock on the lake/pond. Mosquitos did start to attack at the dock and close to the water super late into the night. We did the cycle 3 times and it took us 2.5 hours. We started at 7:00 and left by 10:15. Note, they really close up all the areas at 10 minutes before their closing time so you have time to shower and leave by 10:15 or so. The showers have shampoo, conditioner, and soap. They have a couple blow dryers available. We went with our family (adultish teen boys who are fine with tech free zones, silence and relaxation environments, my husband, and myself). There are equally as many men and women of all ages and due to the nature of the place, people will drift on their own from option to option so it is a great place to go either alone or with someone and still enjoy your silent, relaxation time as if you went alone, or you stick together but it will be mostly in silence. They provide you with a lock and you really just need to show up with a bathing suit and flip flops at a good time slot. I wish we'd live closer, I'd be there a lot more often. Enjoy..Great finish to a vacation or a rough week.
With all the great reviews, we had high expectations with Strom. We called a week before about possible closures and possible refunds if they close and they said all sales are final. After a 6 hours drive from Toronto, we were told they are closed for the baths due to provincial covid restrictions. This was a surprised to us because we didn’t get an email or a phone call. Apparently, many other people didn’t get it either. We asked to speak with the manager and the manager was not very apologetic about the lack of communication and told us that there is nothing they can do. Even voicing our disappointment and the fact that we came all the way from Toronto, she really didn’t seem to care.
Great staff, good spa for it's size. The massage therapist was great. Would give 5 star but Strom is not strict enough with people speaking. Too many people were talking in the hot tubs.
Such a relaxing place to go. Good service and great location. I would recommend to reserve if you want to go on a weekend. If not be prepared for an hour waiting.
Spas are more or less all the same price, what I like about this one is that you can pay at the end before you leave. Whatever you want is charged to you at the end of your visit. The facility is nice, very peaceful and quiet, great place to relax and unwind!
My experience at Strom has generally been very good. The scenery is absolutely amazing and the installations are quite nice as well. The massage therapists and estheticians are always wonderful, especially Marc André. However, the last time I went, I was severely disappointed with the service I received. The package had been bought for me as a gift but was under another name. They confirmed my name and information with me twice over the phone and in person to make sure the appointments would be under my name, but they were not. When going to the restaurant to get my meal that was paid for in the package, they could not identify my key number with my name and made me walk up to reception to confirm my identity (which I had done already twice) with a slightly pretentious attitude. When giving my key and towels backs at the end of the day, the girl at reception took them and instead of saying something like "everything is good, have a nice day" or something of that kind, she just stared at me silently and waited. I then asked her if she was waiting on me for something and she just said "no, are you waiting on me?" no smile or anything, no attention to the customers at all. The experience just didn't flow the way it is supposed to at a spa, especially when you spend lots of money for a certain kind of experience. The reception and restaurant staff need to learn basics of how to treat and speak to customers to provide the best experience (after all, it is a spa).
This place is so sexy. There are multiple jacuzzi areas (one with a waterfall) and multiple different saunas. There is an awesome room down these stairs that might look like a trap for something bad to happen but when you walk in, you have these glow in the dark long chairs to lie down in. Definitely enough room for everyone. Customer service was great too. I left so happy and relaxed. I got a massage as well and it was great. The food was basic and tasteless. For example, the soup I was given was basically just pureed tomatos. For the high price you are paying for the food, more was expected. Maybe it's a Nordic thing...I'm not a Nordic expert. But overall, it's a great place to go and highly recommended. The view of the mountain is very pretty as well. Just eat before you go ????
Amazing location, clean, quiet and a great snack bar with wine! Took my wife during winter and really enjoyed the experience and massages. Much better for those in the city to visit Nun's Island then going up North for a great spa...but have to drive all the way home. Will be back!
Facility was decent and was a nice way to spend the day, however was truly lacking in the "experience" category. Primary it did not have the relaxation experience one would hope for due to certain deficient details which created a lack of warmth and cleanliness. Upon arrival the check- in area was cold and walk way inside the changing area was wet. The fire torches outside were empty and the sitting area was without warmth for a period of time before they were refueled. When resting in the enclosed areas with a fireplace ...it was difficult to be warm and relaxed because the hooks for the robes throughout the facility were too close to the ground. This resulted in the robes becoming very wet. A client basically would sit in a wet robe while the door opens and closes allowing cold air to come in. By the end of the visit I could admit that I enjoyed the contrast of the circuits however I felt cold and muddy overall. I was eager to take a long hot shower to finish off my day only to discover that the Spa does not provide clean dry towels in the shower area. Clients must use the same towels they used to sit in the sauna with..or dried off from the water treatments with. This is unacceptable for an environment of wellness and relaxation. I would honestly suggest that clients desiring a full Nordic Spa experience seek another destination.
I went for the termal experience and couldn't get in since they have a first come first serve policy. I arrived around 10 am waited forever and my turn was at 3pm.. off course I was gone. They should make reservations online !!
My girlfriend and I booked the LEMPIA package as part of our Valentine's day weekend celebration together and it was a really bad experience. 1. Upon arrival, there was a clear disorganization with the front desk. There were at least a dozen people standing around not knowing where to go or where to stand. The lobby is small and is crowded with a large sectional sofa. When it was our turn to be "checked-in", the front desk staff didn't have our package details registered. Their immediate interface only showed them the time that we had booked our massage. They requested our receipt or voucher to confirm our package. We didn't have it so the receptionist had to look into her "database" to find our booking. Once she found our booking, she gave us our robes, towels and wrist bands with a metal key, which she explained was for the lockers. 2. Walking to the lockers, we realized that there's no coat room or area for your boots or shoes. So the ground on the way to the lockers is dirty and covered in rocks from outside. Therefore, the lockers were exactly the same because guests are allowed to walk into the lockers with wet boots. The lockers were old, metal gym lockers like the ones back in high school. For a spa, I think this is completely inadequate. The inside of the locker was rusted and dirty from people putting their boots inside the locker. Not to mention that they jam packed the room with lockers to maximize space so there's no room for people to move or change. 3. I change into my swimsuit and put on the robe that's provided. The robe was very average quality. Then I realize that slippers/flip flops were never given to me. I figure that this must have been a mistake because their spa is outdoors and they allow people to walk into their building with boots. So I go to the reception to ask for slippers/flip flops and the answer I get from them is "Slippers/Flip Flops are not required on site". It's -10C outside, the floors are not heated and the building's floor is filthy from boots. "Not required" what a joke. They proceed to sell me two pairs of slippers/flip flops at 14$ each. 4. The thermal experience was average, nothing special. Then again it would be hard to mess that up. The only issue was the areas where you could leave your robe and slippers. They had black wooden structures with metal hooks, but there's no protection for your robes under the hooks. I saw a woman's robe fall into a puddle of dirty muddy water that was under the hooks. 5. The bistro on site is small and the tables are packed into the space very tightly to maximize the space. However, it makes the experience very uncomfortable. The charcuterie platter that was included in the LEMPIA package was pitiful. It had decent pate, but I am pretty sure it had ROMA Calabrese sausage as a main component. You can make your own judgment call based on that. 6. We opted for the indoor massage. The masseuse was very nice and she was good, but the overall ambiance was to be desired. The room was too bright, and the music was tacky. 7. The check-out process took over 15 minutes and was exhausting. TL;DR Strom spa is disorganized, thermal experience is average, offering at bistro is basic, and the building itself is far too tight/small. Overall, my experience at Strom Spa Nordique was disappointing. My girlfriend and I decided to change it up from our normal spa, Spa Scandinave, to try something new, but you don't know what you have until you don't have it I guess. We will most likely not return to Strom spa any time soon.
Great place. The only spa in Montreal where everything was already almost entirely re opened. July 4th 2020.
I love that it has hot tubs outside. Some of the jets were perfectly placed to massage my back. There's a dry sauna and steamy eucalyptus sauna. I spent a relaxing New Year's Eve afternoon there. It is very clean and the cleaning products they have in the showers are very good.
Unfortunately I paid for a service never rendered. Paid 113 dollars for a 60 min massage that they made me pay without telling me it would be reduced to 30 min!! I asked for money back and they refused to reimburse lying that I cancelled ? How I showed up! Deceit is part of their practice. I want justice. What they did is unethical.
If you want to relax, do NOT go there. We booked our arrival for the thermal experience at 5:30pm. Upon arrival, there was a lineup because the reception was too crowded. Mind you, it’s a pandemic and it was in December (19th). We waited OUTSIDE for 30min until we reached to desk to check in. It’s NOT a nice relaxing experience from the start. Then, we went to the tiny locker room and it was dirty and overcrowded too. Even changing in your bath suite is stressful, with people waiting for you to move out of their way to access their locker. We then headed outside to start the thermal « experience », which was a disaster too. The jacuzzis were so full there was no more space, and it was the same for the saunas and resting areas. We wandered around the site in the cold waiting for people to leave the pools or sauna and take their place. The racks to put your robe were always full… for 80$+tax this is ridiculous. We were so UNRELAXED that we decided to leave just 40min after we checked in, more stressed than when we arrived. If you seek relaxation and a good experience, I recommend you do anything but go to Strom Spa Île des Soeurs.
Have been there for many times. It is a good place, but the service is just OK. Especially the people at reception are extremely inefficient. Takes too long to get checked-in or checked-out. Real examples: Last visit, It took 20-30 mins to get 4 people fully done with the check in process. Another visit last winter, it took 25 mins just for the checkout due to they could not find our bill in their restaurant - could not really image how that was managed. During the very recent visit, we were also asked to pay before the service. I can understand their concerns, but it should be more like something optional, not mandatory, cause I do now know if I will need to eat there or not, and I do not want to wait that long and pay again just for the meal. The spa experience itself is good. But a better management is highly expected, and please be more efficient.
Its proximity to the city is great for people who are in need of a true Nordic therapy experience without driving for a few hours outside of Montreal. Some notes: The service is adequate but not exceptional, especially if we compare it to other places who offer much more experienced and professional staff with a lesser impact on your wallet. The food is good with some great options and well prepared dishes. However there are no vegan options apart from a salad. The place is well maintained and very clean and the ambiance is soothing.
Went in December 2018. We arrived early, close to opening time and the reception was very efficient at getting us setup. We were a group of 6 ladies. Enjoyed their thermal experience myself very much. 5 of us had massages that they enjoyed very much. The staff is friendly but firm when it comes to their quiet policy. By the time we were leaving it got busy and the reception area was crowded but the staff was very polite and professional. They had at least 4 people at the reception to keep the queue moving. Overall a great clean place and a pleasant experience.
I would give no stars if I could. Horrible service and the staff there is extremely rude to Americans. Made us wait for an hour and told us they don’t know how long the wait could be just for a thermal bath. We saw people coming and going even though they said they are “fully booked”. I advise all tourists to stay away from this place because it has the opposite effect of a spa. Awful place.
Nice, modern spa conveniently located about 15 mins from Dt Montréal. It's a bit on the small side, but it has nice amenities, pools and saunas and I had one of my best massages ever there! Could use more bathrooms and have teas readily available.
I didn’t expect it to be anything special since I had heard the place is quite small, but contrary to my expectation this is the perfect in town get away. The outdoor hot pools are beautifully built and you can enjoy a relax night under the stars. Relaxation rooms are truly comfortable and saunas in great shape. Will definitely go back.
Great spa facilities with beautiful views, especially in the snow, nice massages and procedures. Good service from the staff. The bistro is the only disappointing element as there are long waiting lines with ordering at the counter. Despite this the food is nice and the are vegan options. Wheelchair access must be difficult as there are sure everywhere
Great place overlooking a lake. 2 dry saunas, 1 stream, 2 hot tubs and 3 relaxing zones. It hits every mark but just didn't have the little it needs for the 5 star wow factor. To make the best out of the look definitely go at sunset, as it gets dark they light up tiki torches to give it this medieval look. Make sure to keep an eye out for blankets and you'll be nice and cozy. Also ask for a massage "outside" which are in these little cabins which is nice.
We loved the thermal experience as always and the staff were fantastic. I had my first ever swedish massage and Monica did an amazing job relieving tension from my shoulders and back. The place is very professionally managed and we loved hearing the breeze in the trees and the crickets. They also have a bistro that serves diverse and delicious food. The carrot soup was exquisite!
I would rather give no star for this place, the roaming stuffs kept watching you, these made me feel extremely uncomfortable, we were treated as prisoners not customers. During your stay at the pool, their roaming stuffs keeps coming and advertising you about their extra services. Surrounding is fine, lockers Are broken, and changing room is small. Not recommended. Pros: No Cons: -rude stuffs -bad equipment -expensive
Really nice exterior, not too far from the city, but still with the feeling that you are in the middle of nature. The scenery around the location is charming and calming. The spa has a very nice setup of hot & cold pools, wet & dry saunas, and comfortable places to relax. One inconvenience is only one towel is provided, for your whole stay at the spa, be it for one round of sauna, or trying out everything. So, by the end of your time there, you will be dragging a useless soggy piece of cloth around with you.
I rated this place as 1 star because they did not honor the promotion I purchased on their website. Not only did they not honor it, they didn't apply the full monetary amount to the full priced sauna experience that I purchased. The service front desk needs some major training in customer service because they are definitely LACKING! I will be contacting their head office and any other means to rectify this injustice. As for the sauna experience itself, I'd rather drive an extra 40 minutes to the spa Finlandais in Rosemère. They not only have better prices, they also have better saunas.
We took the premium package and it was a huge waste of money. To start, we had to share a tiny locker between the 2 of us and our stuff didn’t fit so we had to leave our coats at the desk, upstairs. Staff was unnecessarily rude. Their “Freshly-squeezed Strom Signature juice” was a box of flavoured Flow water. They didn’t have the sandal bag so we had to choose between some oils and hand balm. People speak at high volumes and hardly ever get told to be quiet. The ladies room was littered with towels and bathrobes. Literally, I couldn’t see the bench in front of my locker with how many towels were on it and around the floor.
They booked me in an outdoor cabin which I was not informed of during the booking. The cabin was cold and dirty and not well kept. The massage lacked experience and professionalism. Did not meet my expectations.
My first experience in a spa. The best place ever. Very welcoming employees, organized and extremely clean. The actual spas are beautiful (outside). The decor is beautiful. When we went they had a special occasion and had music, which I loved. But I think normally there is no music. They have the cold spa, where you dip and get out. They have the eucalyptus "humid" room, which was my favorite. They have fires outside with blankets and comfortable chairs. They even have a resting area with a bunch of beds and blankets. I could just live there. They offer food, but I did not try it that time.
The stone massage was awesome! The grounds are clean and the staff ensures peace and quiet are respected at all times to ensure our experience is met to its fullest.
Got a massage and the ambiance was horrible. The music stopped playing three times. The music was not spa music but rather fantasy medieval tunes. The light was left on full blast and the room was extremely cold. We could hear two people in the room next to us talking very loud the entire massage. The massage itself was great but the rest made it quite awkward and I did not leave relaxed. Definitely not a relaxing experience at all!
The food and service at the restaurant was impeccable. But we went there only for the thermal experience, and it's not worth the price (when we compare it to the strom spa in Quebec city).
Lilly the restaurant manager is unprofessional!! She lied to customers!! Horrible experience!! Avoid this crazy unprofessional staff place!!
Beautiful spa, super massages, still a bit small and lacking more amenities for what is expected. Many good promotions. Food is nice. They have bar area. Parking available. Fair priced.
I dont recommend this spa for few reasons: 1- even not in rush hour is hard to find a chair to relax. 2- at the waterfront there only 4 chairs.... 3- lack of facility.. 30 mins is enough to do everything. 4- all focus on massage 40% space is reserve for massage. 5- near the locker water is empty, 6- inside the locker is not clean, some used towel on the floor. 7- brace+key for locker is so old school 8- i went take a tea and some snack took them 20 mins to get my order. 9- finally at the frontdesk bad service
1 star: Almost impossible to make a reservation. I have tried calling 2 times, the first time I was on hold for 9 minutes and all of a sudden the line dropped. Second time now I am already on hold for over 10 minutes and still no answer. Their live chat is not working either. Update 3 stars: I finally got a hold on them. The representative was kind and helpful. Made a reservation for this Saturday. I will update my review once I am done visiting the spa. Hoping for 5 star experience! Update 4 stars: Amazing spa, very nice staff, exceptional experience! I will definitely be going back.
Private night party and not welcoming, no service, gave us a hard time about the music. They left us in the dark outside were the bains are while it's -35 outside with ice on the ground. They kick us out of the spa at 2:30 when it was supposed to end at 3am. All the employees stayed upstairs behind the counter and only the security guards (several of them for a group of 12 people) stayed downstairs walking behind the men guest everywhere they went to watch what they doing. Never again for me.
I booked a massage a month before and the day before the appointment they tried to call me to reschedule it to an earlier time. They weren't able to get a hold of me as I was driving to Montreal and so the morning of they were having issues finding my reservation so I went to check my email for the reservation confirmation and saw an email that my reservation had been cancelled with no indication I could reschedule. At that time I asked if they had another time slot and they said no so I didn't get my massage. It wasn't until after when I checked my voicemail that I realized what had happened but extremely bad system where there reservation system seems disconnected from the spa facilities and they seem quite disorganized as something similar happened to another member in my group too.
I’ve been calling everyday and leaving messages to make an appointment. Does anyone work at the nuns island location? It’s so unprofessional.
Good spa. Price keeps crowds away. Clean facilities. Decent snack bar and reasonable prices. Great service. Lots of parking spots but I find it a bit dark at the end of the night. Overall recommended.
Terrible experience. I booked the spa weeks ago and i am trying to reschedule or cancel due to a family emergency and after multiple calls and emails, I cannot get a hold of anyone from the spa to help me.
I went on a Friday night and was told that the regular price would apply since it's Maran night, which takes place every 2nd Friday of the month. What's Maren? Relaxation workshop, ability to talk on the premises, music and the option of getting a table d'hôte menu at a reduced cost. I wasn't sold, but I was there already. Slightly disappointed because: - Music was not fun for me. I would've preferred to just relax. - People talking should be forbidden at the spa. It took away from the relaxation for me. - Relaxation workshop was 12 minutes inside one of the saunas. It was repeated every hour. It was just a breathing exercise with some oils in the air. - Redyced price table d'hôte was actually $45 for 1-2 drinks and a soupe and sandwich. It costs less to buy them separately, so I found that the whole Maran thing was not worth it. I'd go back but I'll skip any special event nights because the spa experience itself is enough.
Check-in: They weren't very informative on our arrival. We received a package as a gift and were not familiar with the spa or what the package included. She didn't explain where the locker rooms were, the facility, or what our package included. I had been to a Scandinavian spa before so I knew what to ask for but she wasn't very informative. Thermal Baths: Clean and very relaxing. Baths, Saunas, Steam bath & Relaxation rooms were all very well maintained and peaceful. With the steam and how quiet the staff keeps the places, made it an extremely relaxing environment. Massage: We had our massages in the outdoor tents. They seem to book at the massage at the same time so there is a rush of people checking into massages all at the same time. We had just spent hours in the baths and it was so peaceful and then for massage check in the tent was full and at times crowded. I had Patrick for my massage therapist, 12/10 will recommend. He was amazing! Best massage I've had. Bistro: This is Strom's sore spot. The food is good, and I'm sure the other dishes are great! The food looks amazing! I regret not getting some of the other things I saw. We spent just as much time waiting to be served than we did in the baths. The wait to be acknowledged or given menus was so long. Over an hour before we saw food and it was cold and even longer before we got utensils. The tables around us had not been cleared for a long time. I ordered Pho soup and it look amazing and the broth was tasty but it was cold and had no utensils to enjoy it. We had waited so long for everything in the bistro, we just left (we paid) instead of sending it back. We had such a relaxing day, we didn't want this to ruin it.
Very relaxing! The ambiance is so serene. Staff are really helpful as we couldn't understand the signs.
I love this place so much. The masseuse that I got when I can here gave me the best most relazing massage of my life. The saunas and bathes were amazing and super relaxing. I left this spa feeling truly relaxed and at peace. I wi be coming back everytime I come to Montreal.
Very good experience at the spa. There are so many differents spots: warm and cold pools, jacuzzi, hammam and sauna. You are provided with a bathrobe and a key to your locker, don't forget to bring flip flops otherwise you can purchase some at the reception. The restaurant offers healthy and copious meals and the staff was quite friendly. There are very nice resting spots that you can go to in between treatment and spas. I would highly recommend it!
Over rated. I bought a pricy package online. Show up the day of my appointment and the receptionist have no clue except that it was a massage. At the desk they informed that baths close at 7:00PM. Quite handy since I arrived 7:05PM and my massage was 08:00PM. If you get a package with food, don't waste your money is always to go (very nice). But they don't say that in the webpage, only after you pay and do the reservation. Robes are not white but grey and they smell (at least the one I got). Towels look chessy but they dry. Massage is good overall, but if you go ile de soeurs you expect more asa full experience. Definitely after paying the rate . To sum up, if you go, I would advice to only book a massage. If you don't speak French, double and triple check that they understand all the information, date, time and what exactly you would do.
Absolutely disgusting service. Staff would approach me multiple times to tell me to be silent when I was in fact not talking. Food service was incredibly slow. The facilities are nice. However, not worth the terrible service or price . Also, FYI “photo shoots” are not allowed. By photo shoots I mean quite literally trying to take more than one photo at a time. Oh and also make sure to bring your own flip flops, they only had one (small) size when I was there. Overall, the experience was opposite of relaxing and I do not recommend. I came for peace, not to be stared down by multiple employees who are on some sort of a power trip.
Was on hold for sooooo long. Decided to hangup. Professional tip: answer the phone.
Great spa, my favorite in and around Montreal as it has similar prices to other spas but it has a lot more to offer. Enjoy the great views of the river, with several in/outdoor relaxing areas, a fireplace, two saunas (one with essential oils) and a eucalyptus room. It also has two medium size hot baths (one with a waterfall the other with volcano-like water jets) and two good size cold baths (one with a waterfall). Had a massage in one of their outdoor tents overlooking the water, couldn't necessarily see outside because my head is down but was still nice to have plenty of sunshine around and you could hear the birds chirping outside which really goes well with the overall experience! They also have a good bistro with dish concoctions you've probably never thought of although they are abit pricy and the portions abit small.
I use to get massage at different spot in Montreal, first, everything is extra (Essential oil in the air, cream, stuff like that) which is okay but there is cheaper place where it's included. Massage was meh, I don't feel like the work who have been done was good or done correctly, and the way the massage therapist touched me made me uncomfortable sometimes... Like a bit too touchy... But not sure if it's just how they do, but either way, the therapeutic massage wasn't really effective. Last time I go there for a massage, I'll stick to my regular massotherapist . Location is not much accessible in transport, you have to walk a long way to get there. Haven't tried the thermal experience but the place seemed clean.
Staff is very friendly. The restaurant has good, healthy meals and the premises are clean. Really enjoyed my experience and look forward to going back.
Traveled from Toronto to mtl. Reserved via phone, receptionist entered my appointment incorrectly. I had asked for the thermal experience along with my massage, was informed only a massage had been entered into the system I.e. I had to pay more. I also asked for a reservation in the "tent" outside. waited in the waiting room for 15 minutes til a masseuse came and told me my massage was going to be inside, not outside. I was not accommodated for the time I waited outside i.e my massage was cut short by 15 minutes. During the massage the stereo stopped working. My masseuse tried to fix it in the room, no dice, then left the room to try and fix it. I was not accommodated for this time either. The spa itself is nice and clean. You don't feel overly cramped and crowded when using the sauna/hot tub/relaxation room. Massage was great (pressure, focus points). The lack of communication and accommodation left me feeling pretty shmeh about the overall experience. Services are pricey and I don't think feel I got my money's worth.
Tried to make an appointment for a massage by calling which is the only method offered 29nov stayed on the line 20 minutes no answer Today the 2nd of dec was put on hold for 3o min to be told it’s all full This disregard for the customer is unacceptable Not interested in calling back another time that’s for sure
Fortunately the below story has been resolved. :-) Even though we had reservations, the receptionist told us that we had to wait in line. Of 35 people. For 20 minutes. So we missed about half of our massage. Fortunately they only charged us for 30 minutes instead of the full whole hour we registered for. I still would have appreciated a full hour. I hope they reorganize their line situation because I was shocked and disappointed we were not allowed to go directly to our scheduled massage appointment.
Have enjoyed the spa many times but went two days ago and contracted a stomach bug right after. They don't ask guests to shower before using facilities and I guess it's common with hot tubs. :/
I went with my wife for a theraputic massage. The baths were closed off because of covid which was expected. The place was very clean and sanitized which made us feel secure. We didnt have access to the changing rooms because of covid so we had to go to the massage fully dressed in winter gear which was fine for us. Representation desk was very curteous and helpful. After the massage we went to the car and shared our experiences. It seems my wife didnt quite get the same level of expertise as I receveid. I was very pleased with my massage and by the professionalism for the masseus, however, my wife was very underwhelmed and considering it was a gift for her, it put a downer on our childfree evening.
I booked for a hot stone massage and thermal experience. When I arrived, they gave us the towel/robe and said go to the glass doors and wait. I felt very rushed. I asked the receptionist where the glass doors were, and she rolled her eyes, and said to look down the hall and find the glass doors saying massage. I met with the massage therapist, kind lady, welcoming. Unfortunately the massage was not thorough enough, very gentle, lots of walking around the room organizing herself while I was laying on the bed, squeaky flooring. Repetitive movement, something my son could have done with a rock. After the massage, I felt rushed out the room and just told go to the thermal experience, not knowing where to find it. I saw my therapist rushing to leave in the same door I was coming through. During the payment, the receptionist was rushing to get the crowd of people passed, and spoke very loudly. Claiming I should give a tip..The entire experience wasn't what I was expecting unfortunately. I will not be continuing my future experiences with Strom.
I've been here many times but don't think I'll be back. It was a TWO HOUR (arrived at 2:30 was let in at 4:30) wait to get in because they were at "full capacity" but it did not seem that busy. Also, anyone who came in and had an appointment had access to the spa so how were they at full capacity? ( If they let customers reserve their day at the spa ahead of time it would avoid a lot of unhappy and never returning Customers). They could've at least charged us the evening price to compensate for the lost time. The bistro was no longer serving wine like they used to. People speak incredibly loud on the premises despite being warned by staff, people on their phones and taking selfies, etc. The whole idea is to get away from it all, I was not relaxed when I left. Very unfortunate.
Had a really nice massage. The bistro offered a very tasty tuna sandwich which I will definitely take once I'm back. The spa is a smaller one so make sure to come when it's not busy or else it will be overcrowded.
I've been there a couple of times, sadly my last experience was not great. The phone service is really bad, I had to call multiple times and different days to always be hangup by the machine. Front des staff should be more warm and professional. Also they do not offer possibility of reschedule or reimburse if you want to do and changes in your booking even with plenty of days in advance.
Not impressed, even though we went on a busy day, the staff were overwhelmed and we were told there would be a long wait once we got there. It was impossible to get through to ask someone before we left if they were busy. The robes were like rags. The rooms were all full. We only could go in the steam room and the 2 hot tubs. Service after at the bar was extremely slow. When we went to pay it took them 20 minutes to find our bill.
Nice atmosphere and the event on Thursday night is perfect for a date because they allowed to speak in the premises
Came there last Thursday at 5pm and after waiting in line outside for 20 minutes we were told that there is no more place and we will be put on a waiting list. At 7:30pm got the text saying that we can come, but what is the point if they close at 9pm? We came the next morning at 9 am sharp and there were only 5 people ahead of us in line to get in. Once we went in, we were once again told that there is no more place.... Couldn't they put a sign outside saying that there is no place? Why do they make people wait in line for nothing? Also, some people were already in the hot bath at 9am. How was it possible that some people are already inside before 9am? If they are opening at 9am, than why would they let some people before? Unfair treatment to client which is why I will never go back. It is unfortunate, because I really liked the place and enjoyed it many times before Covid.
I have never had a massage in my life, let alone gone to a spa. I was insanely intimidated by the prospect of cashing in my gift card. Louis Thomas made the booking experience seem seamless. He gave greatly detailed explanations and wonderful advice. If the spa is only half as good as their customer service, ill be more than satisfied!
Beautiful thermal experience! Clean, pleasant, excellent facilities, relaxing music, very kind staff, and beautiful aromas! I can't wait until the covid restrictions are removed and they bring back the infused water (citrus, eucalyptus, etc.).
I visited the spa today for a massage, thermal experience and a meal. Everything went well until the end... I came to the front desk to ask for a fresh towel, when one of the other customers began calling me names and yelling at me. There were many people around, including several front desk staff, and no one said anything. She repeatedly verbally abused me and when I got the towel I quickly left. A few minutes later I saw the same woman in the change room - they let her into the spa after this! I was amazed !!! I packed my things and as I was leaving, I mentioned to the receptionist how appalled I was by the experience. She mentioned that this woman has a history of not only verbal, but also physical (!!!) abuse towards other clients - imagine ! I asked the manager on duty why she was let into the facility after such behaviour, and she replied that since it is a member of the club, there is nothing she can do. Really ?!? Is this the type of clientele you would like to maintain? I am still in shock, primarily because of the response of the employees - shame on you! Save your time and go to a different spa - plenty around Montreal to choose from.
Very nice place to relax, complete silence allowing you to relax your mind and body. Nice pools with hot and cold water. Massage place was very nice. Would recommend.
Nice spa to relax and enjoy the view of a lake. Friendly staff, but making reservations is so difficult.
First off just to book the reservation itself was a hassle, there was no way to do it online therefor the only option was to call them and wait for 1h or leave a voicemail. I booked for 2 massages (the spas should be included because i was informed so) Upon arrival which was yesterday, not to mention that this was my very first time at Strom. I was not informed where the changing rooms were at, i asked for a robe and a towel and the girl at the counter told me it was not included, i then told her i will pay for it. She continued by telling me unfortunately its not included. so i asked another person and the second person only gave me a towel…i was pretty frustrated and waited in the massage room. My bf then spoke to a third person and we finally had our robes. After our massages, we noticed they did not provide us with the keys to our locker. We went back to the receptionist just to be told that we only booked a massage (which i dont quite understand her reasoning but ok) i proceed to tell her that on the website when book a massage u have access to the spa as well, we waited for her to confirm with another girl, after 5 min we finally got our keys. Overall disappointed by the service, alot of back and forth.
Many different baths and saunas, very nice rooms and the restaurant is amazing!
Looking for a place to have a good time and a relaxing time? This is not your place. They welcome you with an attitude. I don’t know if they’re tired of their job. Why do the customers need to feel stress when we walking to relieve stress? These are not compassion of people which includes the manager. She spoke to us like she’s doing us a favour by allowing us to be there from the minute we walked in the door. There are so many nice places in Montréal to choose from. Stay away from this place.
It was my first time at a spa so it was a pretty cool experience. Not sure if I'd go back though. Personally I found the saunas and steam bath too hot, I wasn't able to breathe which is too bad because I love the idea of a Eucalyptus steam bath. The staff at the front desk were a turn off, I found they had an attitude and weren't very friendly or inviting which is something you would expect at a spa. My bath robe got wet and when I asked for a new one I was basically ignored and then I was told there was a 12$ charge for a second bathrobe... Also I found it difficult to relax with all the chlorine. It was like being at the aqua dome in the kids pool. I think that's the number one reason I wouldn't want to go back. The relaxation rooms and outdoor fires were really nice and when the sun went down the atmosphere with the torches and spa music was surreal. Would definitely recommend going close to sun down. The massage therapist was really nice and the massage itself was OK.
For a Scandinavian spa, Ström has it all--a hot pool with wonderfully percussive bubblers, another with a waterfall that massages your neck and back, various resting rooms, three saunas, a steam room, clean showers--all within close proximity of the city without you feeling the city beating around you. the outdoor spaces are wooded with lovely views, outdoor resting spaces have blankets available so you can enjoy the comfortable chairs and fresh air even when it is well below freezing. water with cucumber and fruit is available. and that's just the water circuit! there are also other spa services like massage and facials, etc., although i have never tried them. this is my third visit and i will certainly be back!
Its 2 weeks im trying to make a reservation for a massage, everytime I call im left waiting to be connected with someone for over 45 mins while that on hold music plays, no joke this is the 4th time this happens. Is anyone working at the nuns island location???? I called the 1-877 number and the 514 number and no one ever answers, ive lost patience and will give my money to an establishment that actually answer's then phone
The massage was great. The spa area was ok BUT upon leaving the spa and got to the cash, I wanted to use a gift card and use my 15% bell employee discount. They told me that I can only use one (the discount or gift card). I find this absurd. I think this spa is just a money grabber and I will not recommend it to my family, friends, and collegues at work. They have just lost a client that usually comes about every 3 months with my wife. Therefore, this is the reason why i give a rating of 1 star.
The BEST spa experience I have ever had. My girlfriend and I spent 5 hours in the various pools, sitting by the lake. Plus an amazing massage and delish lunch. Can't wait to go again.
This is a nice spa if you don't want to go too far from the city yet still be surrounded by nature. There are some areas of the spa where you have to keep quiet (mostly near the massage tents). The food is not bad & service is good.
The thermal experience is awesome, if someone not stolen my robe with my belongings inside. When asked the management, they would obviously not know. I was given a wet and dirty robe at the beginning, when then heard "surprise" to my back... A coincidence... By the way, be prepared to wait outside for 2-3 hours before you can go for the experience. Even though it is a minus outside
HORRIBLE PLACE!! THEY WANT TO GRAB YOUR MONEY AND HAVE NO MERCY! I scheduled a massage, and they said if you do not cancel before 48 hours they will charge 50% of your massage but they charged 125$ to my credit card WHICH IS THE TOTAL PRICE. They do not answer their phone and they do not care. They think people are made of money and they do not show any remorse. I do not recommend this place at all if you are not someone who cant always guarentee your availability.
We had a great day. Everyone from the staff we met was helpful and very nice. The installations are good And varied. The staff for massages and other cares were excellent. The environment is peaceful and relaxing. The restaurant is a bit slow which isn't a big deal for a restaurant in a spa but is something to keep in mind if you have an appointment booked. The food was good. There's also some efforts put into keeping the areas calm and quiet. One thing to note, we left at around 4pm and it was definitely getting rowdier and noisier. So we'll definitely stick to going there earlier in the day. Finally it would be great if there was a way to speed up the check out. It felt a bit anticlimactic to wait for 20 minutes in a cramped up space overflowing with people. The staff was nice and did their best to check out people quickly and professionally. We had a great time, are happy about our experience and would definitely go back!
Pricey for what it offers. The circuit is alright, nothing really special, won’t go again. For the price and the client service, I would prefer going to a regular SPA Le Finlandais
I visited the Spa on Nov 3 2019, we were a group of 3 women, celebrating a 50th, Birthday, we were all excited on trying out this New Spa, that had some great reviews, but were quickly disappointed once we got in there. 1) Th Lobby does not feel like you are walking into a spa, it's more like you are lining up to be serviced at your local bank. 2) After we paid for our services, we were handed a robe and towel, no slippers , told to go to waiting area, we were not offered a locker, therefore had to carry our coats, and bags with us. Also, we were told, that we would be changing in the room where we were to have our treatment, a first one for us all, as we have all be to other spas. 3) The waiting room was awful, Not a spa environment at all, felt like we were waiting at a doctor's office, tons of other guests waiting for their services, some dressed in robes and others still in their outdoor clothing, had never experienced this before. 4) After our first treatment, I was tired of having to walk around with my coat, clothes, and bags, I went back to the lobby and asked as to why we were not given a locker and most Spas do offer that, reception was quick to apologize and hand over a lock for a locker, little later, but what the heck. 5) Last treatment was great, tech, was friendly and knew what she was doing, now time to get changed and head out, as we made our way to the locker room, we see that there is no place to throw in your robe or towel, you are actually expected to take it back to the reception and the main lobby, again , we have never seen this . This Spa, can be great, but they really need to work on some things, to make This Spa Amazing, I was really hoping to go back with my husband, but after my first visit, I have decided to try another place.
Very nice place to relax. Beautiful with added services everywhere. The only thing is that they don’t have a lot of different pools and saunas.. which is the reason I gave 4* and not 5.
It was an alright spa. It only has two hot pool and two small cold one. Both hot pools u cant talk in so if u go with friends and i wanna talk you have to exit the hot pools . Two saunas and one steam bath. The bar have very limited menu Nthn u feel like eating in a spa. I think its over priced for the size and service they offer
Little oacis near the business of the city. It is the perfect spot near Montreal to sit and unwind for a bit. They have a large selection of therapeutic and esthetic services
Dear Spa, Please make sure that your personnel is not sick when working with clients. My husband and I went to the Spa on Jan 13th. It was a gift for his birthday and we were expecting to spend time nicely together. It appeared though that a massage therapist who made a massage to him was sick. Next day he realized that he is getting a cold and now he is lying in a bed with a fever. I am really disappointed that you allow contagious personnel to come to work with clients. We had a great experience and loved everything, so getting sick was a very unpleasant surprise.
Beautiful well kept grounds. The thermal spas, saunas, and steam rooms are clean and relaxing, and the flotation bath was amazing. Looking forward to returning!
Really bad customer service, talks bad no smile or enthusiasm, didn’t feel they want help me answer questions or accommodating me. Even talking with supervisor he didn’t help or try improve workers behavior. Spa was full they let too many people in. Not clean, hair and insects in the water ????disgusting, bad spa experience ever, will never come back again
I drove all the way from NYC and the facility didn't book me and my wife's reservation for our massages. It was our anniversary weekend. We received a refund and took advantage of the facilities, but the main reason of coming to Montreal was to go to Strøm and enjoy the full experience. Very disappointing and I cannot recommend this place to anyone I know.
Book an appointment: long wait up to 40 minutes.. Check-in: not welcoming and receptionist was upset in general doing her job... Spa: hot tubs were nice, steam room too strong(17 min straight blast no interval setting) was good for me but not for others. Massage: ask next time what preference of massage and if wed like to be in a same room or not. Lights weren't dimmed and when i asked to dim it, it was as if i asked a weird question. Asked for a deep tissue, ended up being a 'touching' massage... She said I only do therapeutic ( wasnt even close ) Check-out: sour entry and sour exit. Another receptionist asked me with an attitude: ' no tip?' $200 wasted Please don't confuse labor shortage with giving great customer experience at the end of the day regardless of the situation.
Horrible customer service, a lot of attitude. am not gonna recommend to anyone anymore. well they are stingy too (I asked for one extra gift box after I spent 400$ and they didn't give it to me.
1000$ Group reservation went horribly wrong. I organized a Brunch and Bath plus with 8 massages. One month in advance with multiple confirmations. Upon arrival, I let the person at the front desk know that if anything is wrong to notify me, so that I can let my group have an enjoyable day without stress... which is the whole point of a spa day... 1 person was somehow forgotten from the 8 massages and was left alone.. No empathy from Sunday manager. To think you pay so much for something only for them to get it wrong without remorse. I even had the courtesy to ask for a private office to complain so that I wouldn’t disturb other guests from their experience. Please Strøm Spa take care of your clients and sensitize your staff on client experience. I can’t imagine over $1000 dollars worse spent with the 8 people leaving in tears.
AAAAAAAH LE STRØM ... - free outdoor walking distance parking. - beautiful modern facilities. - reception greets clients in seconds. - booking by phone was easy and not long. - massage rooms are clean and well isolated. - baths are clean and staff are always available to help. - locker rooms needs a little upgrade and their showers needs to be cleaned more often. - their bistro offers affordable good healthy food. - checking out was not tooo long of a wait. - great experience.
Our evening at the spa was extremly noisy. the whole experienced was ruined by a group of girls ( i felt like they were drunk) shouting and screaming all over the place, although the noise wouldve been « canceled » if they had speakers inside the sauna and steam sauna. But it’s pitch silent in there, and any kind of noise, whisper our low talking becomes annoying. I think this place would be better with more speakers and good soothing music, with some people circulating around to tell the people to keep silent. Someone should be there full time telling people to shut up. The experience was no different than a gym’s sauna with a spa on the side. I didn’t go there to sit in a spa, i went there for silence and relaxation. It beats the sole purpose of it ! Maybe it was too crowded yesterday, but i definetly think the place needs an upgrade in music and people maintaining silence.
Nice place but the staff tells everybody to hush; even though there no one talking loud. It's very annoying and even more so because you're paying for what's supposed to be a pleasent experience. Super exagerated. Will not come back and do not recommend.
Unfortunately, it’s overpriced and weirdly unaccessible. The booking system doesn’t feel welcoming at all. I was told to book at least 2 week prior. Their belief of people being that planned is certainly unrealistic.
Great time, good massage and love the set up. The only thing I didn’t like and because of this I wouldn’t come back, is because is way too pricey. I paid 100$ for massage and the “thermal experience” was appart so I had to pay another 70$. With taxes and tip i ended up paying 215$. With my partner it became a total of 430$ ???????? I love this place but I’d rather go to another nice, like finlandais spa which you pay massage and you get free thermal experience:).
Beautiful place, great services but impossible to make an appointment by the phone, it’s been over a week and nobody has called back.
01/10/2020 - 10h30am to 4:30pm : I brought my best friend to this spa for her birthday. The check-in was pretty quick since we arrived pretty early. However, 1 minute outside, not even in a hot tub yet, and we already get told off by a rude and condescending employee to stay quiet because we were disturbing other people, but the spa just opened and no one was even there yet! A little shocked by this interaction, we apologize and tell her we’re sorry, we didn’t know the rules. Once in the hot tub, 2 minutes in, another employee comes to us to tell us to be silent... I only whispered to my friend what she wanted to do after the hot tub?! Then, comes the lunch time. We arrive at the little restaurant around 12:50pm. We get a table quickly and get our orders in. 40min of wait, and we still did not get our food (we ordered 1 entry and 2 meals). I saw 2 groups of people that came after us and already got what their ordered... so my friend asked politely if our orders are going to be ready soon and the waiter tells us that our orders didn’t got through their system... so he had to order them again. 1 hour + in and still got nothing... and the two groups that arrived after us had left!!! So, we had to ask again, when our meals would be ready... the waiter did apologize for the wait and said it would be ready soon... 15 minutes later, we finally got what we ordered. HONESTLY, we were very disappointed regarding this aspect of the spa. We lost so much time waiting for our food. Time that we would have preferred spending in the facilities... Facilities - Nice and relaxing. Not overcrowded, it was perfect. The “relaxing” rooms were a must as well as the hot tubs. Overall, as someone else said, it was not relaxing getting stared at by employees the whole time, scared to be told to shut our mouths, but the facilities were great. Nonetheless, I plan to come back again, but not in a near future. I’ll update my review then.
Lack of chairs. Couldn't reserve the restaurant. Clean.
I give this spa a 3 stars. The sangria was good and the waitress was super sweet. Therefore, the place isn’t as nice as I expected. My expectations were high and got disappointed. The towel robe was a poor quality one and worn.
Pros: Amazing nordic spa experience and very relaxing! Multiple baths and saunas with ample relaxation spaces! Give yourself plenty of time to be here. It is well worth it! Cons: Bath robes provided were not clean with stains and when we requested changing them, the staff reluctantly did so after a lengthy unnecessary lecture from them. Patrons should bring their own robes and dont forget a hair dryer, which have been removed due to covid.
Relaxing, peaceful, quiet ... very Zen (not on weekends) and great massages, saunas and food.
I recently went to strom and I had by far the worst spa experience I’ve ever had in my life here. It was dirty, people were very loud, I felt as if I was at a public pool. The changing rooms were filled with towels all over the place, the bathrooms were a mess, and when I walked into both the steam room and one of the saunas there were people in there talking very loudly, some were even screaming near the hot tub. This is very uncommon for a spa. It also took 30 minutes to be served in their restaurant, and this was just for someone to come up to me. It was not very busy. When I went up after 10 minutes to try to order from the counter, I was told that they could not take my order at the counter and I had to wait to be served and that my server would be right with me. That took another 20 minutes. With the amount of time it took to get served, receive my plate, eat, and leave it took around 1 hour and 30 minutes. I do not eat slow. After speaking with the customer service at the front desk about my experience there was no empathy and no one seemed to care. I told one of the people a the front about how dirty the locker rooms were and they said they would send someone to clean it immediately...10 minutes goes by and no one came down to clean. Then another person came up after and said the same thing and the woman I talked to initially seemed shocked as if it was her first time hearing this. It was my birthday and I received a gift certificate to go and I was so upset with my experience I had to call their customer service line after and complain about everything that had happened. This took about an hour because the person kept putting me on hold to verify with the different sections of the spa I had complained about and then they told me I would get a call back from their manager. It’s been 2 weeks since I called and complained and I still haven’t heard anything. I called back a week ago and asked why it was taking so long to hear back and I was told I was on their “emergency” list so they would get in contact with me ASAP...I still have not heard a thing. I would highly recommend not going here. There are better spas within and around the Montreal area, they don’t deserve your money!!!
Some issues with noise, trailing towels/robes and cups lying around - but that's not entirely the staff's fault. Cleanliness is good. Bistro is a bit pricey, but they always are. Not a bad spa at all, some small improvements and it gets another star.
Love this spa, it's very causy! Not too far from the city but yet connected with nature! The site is small indeed, but very well designed & the price is right...
We enjoyed it very much! Clean, people keeping distance. The only thing is the ad that enticed me to go showed a little sand beach but it is not the one in ile des Soeurs and that disappointed me as I picked it for that. My fault for not checking but felt like they should have added that in the pic (location).
Not my cup of tea for a spa, over crowded and dated. The pools are either too hot and too cold which is great for a thermal experience... But wanting to spend a day we got bored quite quickly. This is my personal feedback, other people swear by Strom.
The survice is just terrible!! If you're Asian get ready to be discriminated. They will follow you around and ask you what you are doing here. The funniest thing is after all that, they are gonna charge you extra for stuff you didn't even …
A wonder of peace and serenity in busy Montreal. Not huge but right sized.
Pretty but you need to call to reserve a massage only no one answers. Been trying for five days...
First off, the customer service is really good, however, the event ‘night under the star’ is not advertised properly on the website, it is a party event with blasting extremely loud techno music that you can’t really escape anywhere you go on the site. I was under the impression of something else. If you came to relax, do not come during this event just come on a regular day. People are loud and it is definitely not relaxing. I’m disappointed because I’m sure my experience would’ve been totally different on another day, that event is pretty pricy too so I feel some type of way we paid a lot to not really get what we came for. They need to change the description of the event and make it clear the music will be loud and that the silence rule is not respected. Check in/out is a bit long too. Besides that, amazing location and friendly staff. The place is well clean.
Seems like they might be out of business, Have been trying to book for weeks, every time the phone is on hold with music for 30 mins and the line eventually cuts. Several other comments in this regards...
I love this place. I love that u have to walk outside to get to every location. I love that the hot tubs and cold tubs are outside. I love that you there are 2 different dry saunas and one humide sauna (my favorite). I love the cleanliness. I love the staff so helpful. He food is good but expensive. Weekends are not quiet. Forget it. Bit weekdays are super quiet. I love that. This place has terrific view. In winter there is fire in the snow. Not far from island so perfect.
Terrible customer service, they make sure to never refund anybody even during a pandemic, hoping that you will just forget about your purchase. Zero care in the world for there customers. And definitely over priced for what they offer.
Went there on a Sunday night. Location is very convenient and facilities are great. However, people were chatting a lot in the bath/pools/saunas, people were on their cellphones and at least 2 couples were making out and touching themselves. The relaxation part was really not optimal. Will I go again? Probably, but not during a week end.
