I have been coming to Urban Healing Studio for just over 2 years, and I can't go anywhere else now! I have taken advantage of their registered massage therapy, hot stone massage, and osteopathy treatments. I have been so thrilled with every single visit I've had. The osteopathy is great especially if you find the chiropractor is just a little too much. All the staff are knowledgable and skilled in what they do! Highly recommend! I'm also here right now waiting for a much needed massage with Kim! Can't wait!

Overall it is a good place for massage. The walls are very thin so you could hear other people speaking on their phone and their choice of music could be more relaxing. Their entrance is from behind the building so don't get lost ;) I had my massage with Nicholas and he was skillful and attentive.

I was there today for a 90 minutes deep tissue massage and the therapist, Nicholas , was very helpful, and professional. The place is clean and welcoming. The BEST DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE OF MY LIFE Wow wow wow. I just had a 60 minute deep tissue massage with Shawna. She found spots in my back and neck, that I didn't even realize I was carrying tension in. My body feels like a trillion dollars now. I carry heavy camera equipment all day and have had back issues slowly creep up on me for a few years. I have had several other massages in my life (deep tissue, thai and relaxation) and none of them have been as attentive or got to my problem areas the way this massage with Shawna did. Also, I love the way the space looks. The lobby area is clean and peaceful and the massage room I was in was dim, quiet (no outside noises), with soft music playing. It is a very soothing and relaxing space and experience. I have already made another appointment and from now on, I will only be going to Shawna for massages. She really knows what she's doing and put my needs first. She made me feel like she really cared about me and truly wanted to help with my back problems. She even took the time to show me how to correctly do specific stretches for my needs and emailed me an exercise plan. Shawna, you have magic hands, knowledge and intuition that I am very grateful I have found. I am in awe of the work you did on me. Thank you.

Went for a prenatal massage, nice atmosphere. My sister had purchased a gift certificate for me. First of all my therapist didnt turn up and then they didnt put in the special cushion for my belly, I had to hug a pillow instead. Its was an ok massage but would have been nice with the cushion. The girl that did my massage was super nice though at least bit it was a bit of a let down.

I wanted to write a quick testimony for Dara Komor, You are more than welcome to use this testimony however you see fit. I recently tried out Urban Healing for deep tissue massage therapy. Dara Komor was the RMT who worked on me. Before I continue with my testimony, I think it's important to mention a few things. I am a very physically active person with a history in combat sports, long distance hiking, Mountain biking etc.. I served in the military and currently work as a professional firefighter. I am no stranger to muscle injury, sprains, strains, joint pain, back pain, muscle ache etc... > Furthermore, I am no stranger to massage therapy. I have sought out massage therapy for years now, all over the country. My previous massage therapist was voted RMT of the year, and she has moved to Shelburne so she is no longer available here in Hamilton. Also, it should be noted, that I am NOT an easy person to impress, That being said, I can say (with a LOT of prior experience), that Dara is, without a doubt, the very best RMT I have EVER had the privilege of working with. She is exceptional in every way, and I was thoroughly impressed with her capabilities. She listened to EXACTLY what I had stated as my complaints and addressed every issue directly. She employs a variety of techniques to get directly to the heart of what my issues were. I trust her implicitly and would recommend her to anybody and everybody seeking a true professional. I felt as though her intuition knew more about what my issues were than I did.... So THANK YOU Dara, and keep up the EXCELLENT work!!!

I have been coming to see Dara the last couple of years. She is AMAZING! I simply do not/will not go to anyone else for massages. Her hands are magic. I had issues with bilateral hand tingling when raising my arms above my head and after 3 sessions, (and some stretches she gave me) the pain was gone. I recently re-injured my back with pain for 6 days and the DAY AFTER our session my pain had significantly improved to essentially nothing. She is knowledgeable and experienced (clearly). Of course everyone will have different results but I trust her assessments fully and you should as well. Work with her plan and you will not be disappointed!

I've been coming to UHS for five years and have had nothing but consistent kindness, welcome, and care from them. I primarily see Shawna because (quite frankly) her upper body strength, technique, and attention to detail is amazing - she is one of the few masseuses I've seen who can unknot my mess of a back. (Lifting, amiright?) What's better? She does it all seemingly instinctively; I tell her where I'm crickety, shuffle onto the table... and 45 minutes later, slide back down in a semi-conscious puddle of goopy muscles. She magic, y'all. I've also seen Dara a handful of times, and had one-offs with a few of the other ladies - they are all consistently knowledgeable and kind. 5/5

Urban healing studio is my go to for treating work related injuries and pain. As a professional drummer I’ve dealt with repetitive strain injuries all over my body. The knowledgable staff has been extremely helpful not only in treating the pain but educating me on how to prevent it. The staff is very versatile, offering a variety of services. Specifically I have been seeing Dara for the last couple years for deep tissue massage, and have found her techniques incredibly effective in relieving tension and pain associated with it. I saw Nicholas yesterday for a deep tissue massage. I had a strain injury to my lower back over a year ago and so specified that this was the area I wanted him to focus on due to ongoing mild back pain. Unfortunately, he focused little on this area despite my request and I had to ask him to work more on that area later on in the massage. Because he didn't focus enough on my problem area as requested, treatment was suboptimal I don't feel much better. Despite the fact that they have direct billing, it didn't work after 2 attempts, meaning I have to go through the hassle of submitting myself. I have used my insurance elsewhere this week and there was no problem with any other office for submitting a claim. Pros of the experience include convenient location (no dedicated parking though), easy booking and appointment was on time. Overall, I'm not sure I would return. Follow up regarding direct billing: called my insurer this morning and there is no issue with my insurance. They told me the reason it was denied was likely because whoever was submitting the claim made an error when submitting.

This company charged my credit card without informing me. I came across the charge when reviewing my credit card bill. Would not recommend. In response to the owners comments. 1) A receipt was only provided after I requested one. 2) there was no mention of the intent to charge my credit card ever. And no there is not some hidden email in my junk mail 3) very misleading in your response. I will be disputing this credit card charge.

Received a cancellation 17 mins prior to my appointment via voicemail due to illness. I get it, people get sick, but this was inappropriately VERY short noticed. One doesnt just fall ill 17 mins prior to an appointment - it progresses over time and I shouldve been cancelled hours ahead of time - not while Im driving across town after rushing from work, trying to find AND pay for parking, to see that my phone had a missed call about a cancellation. I would've appreciated a cancellation notice hours ahead of time more than one trying to work while they dont feel well or try to push through the day to see if they could fulfill all the appointments only to learn last minute they cant. Service is fine, but the timing of notification is terrible - if one doesnt feel well, the service shouldnt even be provided throughout the day. Can't say Id be back as this was part of my experience with the place - wish it wasnt. Edit to reply to the owner's response: 1) I was never offered a repayment of the parking fee - please do not say it was offered to me when that conversation never happened. 2) 17 mins is not as soon as possible. I am driving on my way! 3) I did acknowledge people get sick - I was not discounting that. Edit#2: I didnt get any text messages. This discussion needs to end. Stop trying to rectify a very inappropriately timed short notice of cancellation. What happened, has happened. The review is public.

I always shop around when finding an RMT, but happily stopped when I found Urban Healing Studio. The space is calm and quiet (I've never heard others conversations outside the room) and bookings is simple and they are upfront about their policies. I primarily stick with Nicholas as he is passionate about his work, skilled, friendly, professional, and intuitively senses whether you prefer conversation or silence. Cancelled my next day appointment late at night, the day before an appointment. Booked time off work for it as well. No appointments left on that day. Thanks EDIT: I find this response disappointing and misleading, as the email that explained the circumstances due to the cancellation was sent to me after I had posted my negative review. An automated system had sent me the late night cancellation (10:30pm), with no reason as to why there was a cancellation and I fear that I would not have warranted a personal response with explanation if I had not given a 1 star review. Things do arise and cancellations are necessary, but I do not like when I receive and email that seems as though it is trying to guilt me into coming back for your business.

An Oasis in the Desert! Waking up one morning with excruciating pain in my neck and shoulder, the likes of which I have never felt before I needed relief asap. I found Urban Healing Studio and I'm ever going anywhere else again. I was able to book an appointment asap and everything was perfect, right down to the form you can fill out online before you go in. The staff is warm and friendly, the environment is fantastic and it's perfectly tucked away amidst the hustle and bustle of downtown. Hence...My Oasis in the Desert.
