My massage was absolutely terrible. One of the worst. I told him where to center his attention and I don't know if he forgot but I reminded him and he still didn't focus there! He was also far too rough. I said a Swedish, and he basically made it a deep tissue, I had to keep saying a little lighter than that please. He was all over the place. I don't know if he's new but it was awful. I have also been to many different Lavida's in different states. Normally the location is pretty, clean, nice to be around, great staff, great massage and most of all good prices. This particular one for whatever reason in Shadyside is small, uncomfortable, in maybe the ugliest part of Shadyside and Shadyside is beautiful. It's doesn't have a pretty ambiance at all like most of them and they are so overpriced! They are DOUBLE even a little more than that from other locations. Why? Because it's located in Shadyside? Then find a prettier venue, and get better staff. Because Shadyside isn't making up for how ugly it is on the inside and how poor the service is. The prices are outrageous .I may as well go somewhere gorgeous, and fancy pay the same money, and get my money's worth. LaVida in other locations has that good mix between being pretty inside, not necessarily a grand spa but very pretty and relaxing, and also having good service. This certain one is a waste of your time and money. It's one of the worst among the chains. Believe me. I travel a lot, I need a good massage. And out of all my travels of using this place I had never been so disappointed. Take your hard earned money else-where.

I got a facial from the new, but experienced esthetician and it was fabulous. Her name is Toni and she did such a great job. My face is glowing, I take a lot of medication for my acne and it felt so good to hear her say my face looked great and that my pores were small. She gave a massage and it was just so nice, I even got a hand/arm massage, fantastic. She made good conversation without making too much, I had such a great time. I was one of her first clients so if she did this good with me she has to be even better now. I am very happy with my visit and will definitely be back!! I loved it!

I scheduled an appointment well in advance for a couples massage yesterday. They called and left me a message an hour prior the appt to inform me that they were running 10-15 minutes behind. No problem. I arrived at my LATER time and they STILL had nobody to do my couples massage. A woman came to the doorway to the lobby and said HELL NO IM NOT DOING DOING ANOTHER MAN TODAY ! What??? I guess she doesnt like money? The attendant ran off into the back and didnt reappear for another 10 minutes and simply stated SOMEONE WILL BE WITH YOU SHORTLY. I waited another five minutes and informed them that we were leaving because of the mess of scheduling and behavior at this place. BUYER BEWARE ! Im still laughing about the trainwreck of this place !

Though he applied pressure where needed, he was very good about pausing when it started to hurt and revisiting areas multiple times to work out the knots.

I have been a member of this place since February 2017 I believe. They are all wonderful and I have never had a complaint. Today I had Jim for the first time and he has made me a personal fan. I genuinely enjoyed his expertise and the evidence of a formal knowledge of physical therapy is a must have for anyone with chronic issues like myself. Thank you Jim!! So due to Covid, I ended my membership but thanks to Jeremy at the front desk, I just had to rejoin. I just enjoy his hospitality and his professionalism! Rhys was my message therapist and he was absolutely wonderful! He was very attentive to my physical limitations and he was so great at his job, I feel asleep twice!! The location and the fact that LaVida is at the back end of a shopping plaza surprised me, and the lobby floor and hall carpet weren't sparkling clean. So, they lost a star. However, the massage rooms themselves were very clean and the massages were terrific. I had a deep tissue massage and my wife had a hot stone massage. We both will go back to this place and recommend it to others.

I have been encountering a lot of stress lately with life, school, and work. I went to LaVida for my second massage ever and it was wonderful!! I became a member right after my first massage with them, no doubts at all. This was at the end of January and I have been there four total times and have another one next week. The member benefits are great. I have seen Jim twice, Lamera, and Angel. All are Wonderful!! They all have very different techniques, but each one has been amazing. I had a couple of different ones because I scheduled a few very last minute, but it has been nice trying out different therapists. The service is wonderful and it is definitely worth a visit.

It was a very unpleasant experience! I cannot be more disappointed about the customer service at this place. I have purchased a gift card as a birthday present to a friend for the amount of $75. We have booked appointments for the same time as we wanted to have a girly pampering day. We waited for 2 weeks to be able to book appointments for the same time. When we went for our appointment, we were invited to fill in our forms. We gave the gift voucher and explained we will pay the outstanding amount. I was invited to go inside for my massage. When I went out of the massage, I sat down to wait for my friend. I waited for about 10 min when the guy on reception - Jeremy suddenly told me that my friend's massage didn't happen!!!!! You can imagine the distress I was in - after all this was HER birthday and present from me! My friend came back and she explained that after waiting for a while for her therapist - Jeremy told her that this appointment will not happen at all because the therapist didn't come to work! Can you imagine the disappointment! My friend told him we should get a refund and he told her that then he will take me out of my massage! Wouldn't you know when 2 people booked at the same time and show at that time that your therapist is not there??!!! It was ridiculous - why would you ask us to fill in the information - take our money and not tell us! Why wouldn't you give us the option to re-schedule?? Or even ask us how we want to proceed in the first place??!! He introduced himself as the Manager - sorry, but this guy cannot handle a simple customer issue! He told us after arguing for a while that we will get a refund in 2 days. Well...refund never came! I called the place and spoke to the actual General Manager just so she can explain this is against their policy! Seriously!! This is how you leave unsatisfied customers? Further to that - it seems they don't know how to refund gift certificates cause it was purchased online! Shouldn't Jeremy know that and explain that to us at the time???!!! Are you just trying to take people's money?! Nobody will ever get rich with 75$ but you sure will lose a lot of customers! Even if you tell me I got my service - what was the point when I got twice more stressed after that!

Honestly I WISH I liked this massage. I wanted deep tissue and so I went to Daniel for trigger point therapy. He did it … but barely worked into the knots in my back. He would work on a knot with only pass and multiple times I had to ask him to work into the knot again because I felt zero relief. Everything just felt incomplete. It was also a 50 minute massage instead of a 60min. The end was very abrupt. I’ve had many massages before and I truly wish I liked this massage, but I’m leaving sad. I may come back and try someone new, but honestly not sure if I want to take the risk. I will say that Daniel and the rest of the staff were polite in person and on the phone. In addition, the building was very clean.

Unfortunately I lost my job and was told of a policy that I have never heard a company utter: I could not use the 300 dollars in sessions that I paid for unless I become current in my payments. I have read the 'contract that I signed' and it did not mention any of this. Let alone not giving me access to my massages that WERE PAID FOR, I was interrupted by the staff and treated very rudely, just for her to tell me the the payments would continue to be submitted against my Bank account, further overdrafting me without any chance of canceling the autopay. Since the automatic payment is for the exact same amount that the regular treatments would be. I am very dissatisfied with the rudeness as well as the ineptitude of the staff at LaVida Massage. It seems like they take pleasure in causing my problems to last longer and not give me anything that I had paid for in the past. My advice is to find another spa as it seem that two of my previous massage therapists have left, prompting me to think the policies are just as bad with the therapists than the customer care. Stay far away from this chain as they seem to enjoy ripping people off, taking they money and not giving the faithful clients a fair deal or paid services that are goverened by some arbitrary 'policy'. I hope to solve this amicably but would suggest to stay away due to their lack of business acumen.

Horrible. My fiance an i got a couples massage this week and his massage therapist was wonderful and he enjoyed it. On the other hand I didn't have a quite so good experience. The guy I had didn't talk to me at all, not even to say were going to start here or how does this feel. While he was massaging my back his manly hood kept going in my hand. Made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I think he enjoyed the massage more then I did. I will never go back. Felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable.

I think these positive reviews are all fakes. This place is terrible. A half hour before my session, they called and changed my 90 minute massage to a 60 minute, blaming other clients for the change. Then, my massage therapist was incredibly inexperienced. The pressure was totally inconsistent - sometimes she was barely touching me, and other times she was jamming her elbow into my bones. There were times she even seemed to space out or not know what to do next. Then, the receptionist tried to keep selling me on their monthly program, when I just wanted to get out of there and on with my life. Probably the worst massage experience I've had. Don't go here.

I went there for my lower back pain...I had to go about 6 times so was a little Expensive...but WOW!!!! it worked..I had to go to the Er because I couldn't walk. After taking motrin. Because I refused steroids..This please fixed my Sciatic nerve pain. Wish I didn't have to spent the money...but glad I did...thank you so much...may god bless you and the world

And let me tell you I LOVE this place, ok so I got the deep tissue with hot stones. And my boy Jim woooooo doggie Jim made sure my body was free of all tension by the time I left. Great massage very attentive to the areas that need extra attention like my shoulders which I didn't even mention needing extra work. But Jim knew and made sure he massage the heck out of them. The office was calming and relaxing, the entire staff was really helpful. And again my boy Jim with the best massage I have ever had, even tho at one point he said hold the hot stone in my hand. And let him know if it was too hot....... and it was really hot. But I didn't want to seem like I couldn't handle a little stone. So I held onto that rock and just kept rotating it in my hand, yeah that's right I PASSED THE HOT STONE IN THE HAND TEST! As you walk in, you are greeted by a receptionist. Jeremy was there that day. He is friendly, couteous, and very personable. He offered me a wayer while I waited for the therapist to come out to get me. Jranie, the therapist is very skilled at her job. She asks you questions on how you've been feeling, so she knows the areas that need extra work. She is friendly, personable, and caring about how you are feeling, and she asks throughout, if you are comfortable. I definitely tecommend a visit here. You won't need to look for another therapist.

Friendly professional employees...good atmosphere and clean... felt like a heated table which was nice. However the message was too hard, hurt and made me feel like I was being tortured. 3x I expressed too much pressure and the person didn't let up. B/c my body hurts and I see bruises I'd have to say not the best massage I've ever had. Not sure I'd return.

I have been a customer for a couple years. I signed up for the membership which carries a recurring charge. During 2020 I wasn’t able to go every month given the pandemic, but was charged every month and told that I could simply use those credits later. I cancelled my membership on September 24 and was told I must use all of those credits within 30 days. On October 14 I get charged again and told if I don’t use that credit before October 24 it will disappear. Essentially, it’s a program that charges you $60 a month for massages you can’t use and then when you cancel, charges you one last time for the fun of it. Very disappointed and very frustrated. There are several other options nearby that I will support going forward - there is no reason to be unreasonable with your customers. Stay away.

My husband booked a couples massage for us while we were in town for the weekend. After changing our appointment three times during the week, we were set for 12:30pm. We arrived at 12:15 to find out from the manager that one of our therapists had called out sick and the appointment would be cancelled. She explained that they had tried calling and emailing my husband, yet he had no missed call or voicemail and the email at been sent at 11:45am even though they had apparently found out about the call off earlier at 10am. Will never attempt a massage through any location again- too much hassle, waste of time, and totally unreliable.

Jeremy and Toni were super personable and very welcoming when I came in Saturday (1/30/2021). I’ve been to several spas, including Nemacolin, Bedford, and The Fountaine Bleu. I scheduled a basic facial with Toni and it was the best I’ve had thus far. Their staff are untruthful- was told that a cancellation fee would not be charged and the bank account was charged the next day. When called to discuss everyone seem to have amnesia! The staff was very rude to my daughter when she called to try to get her money back. You will never get my service and I will try very hard to make sure I let everyone else know how poorly you treat your customers.

Place was clean and staff was friendly and professional. I’ve had hundreds of massages but I like to shop around and try new places every once in awhile. I got the deep tissue with trigger point and just wasn’t that impressed with the massage itself. It seemed very basic / minimal effort / nothing to rave about or return for. I didn’t feel much looser afterwards. They also shave off 5 minutes of your time at the beginning and another 5 minutes at the end for “changing and introductions” so really you’re paying for 50 minutes for a “one hour massage.”

I'm extremely disappointed with this place especially Lauren! I had been a customer of this place for years. As any massage place I feel as its as good as your therapist. I've had good ones there and I've had terrible ones there. But the customer service or lack of it today was inexcusable!!! I scheduled a double appointment weeks in advance for a present for my friend. We planned our whole day around the appointment. Lauren called with very little notice the day of the appointment and informed me the therapist called off and our appointments are canceled. I suggested a very logical solution to the problem and Lauren refused. Lauren also claims that the online scheduling is not accurate. I will be canceling my membership there and would not recommend anyone plan a spa treatment there...

LOVE this place!!! I was in town visiting my sister and we decided to go for massages here as “first time” clients. Our experience was so pleasant from start to finish. Jeremy who works at the front desk greeted us with a huge smile and a welcoming personality. He was so friendly and attentive before the massage and as we were checking out. He was able to make conversation, answer our questions, and his spunk just puts you in a great mood!!! Definitely a great “face” of the industry. I always struggle to feel relaxed during massages or have the ability calm my mind during one, however this was the most relaxed I’ve ever felt during one, and one of the best ones I’ve ever had!! My massage therapist Tasha was wonderful. She was attentive to what I wrote on the paper (one of the things being that I didn’t want discussion during my massage), and she only checked in to see how things felt, pressure, if I was comfortable, etc. My sister’s therapist was Jeanie (spelling?) and she loved her as well, and actually signed on for a membership because of how much she enjoyed it. I wish I lived closer so that I could come here more often, but I HIGHLY recommend this place!!! Whether it’s your first massage or your 60th, this was the best place I have ever gone; I couldn’t wait to write them a sparkling review! :)

My boyfriend and I scheduled a couples massage for our anniversary and hadJessica and Hannah, who were both phenomenal! I did the swedish massage and he did the deep tissue. We both left feeling refreshed and AMAZING! Will definitely be back! Customer service and facility were all great!

Cali did a great job. I came in with severe muscle spasms in my back and she spent a good part of the hour focused on the many areas of my back with knots while still giving me a complete body experience. I was visiting Pittsburgh but if I lived there I would definitely go to her for regular massage.

Pretty bad... they don't read the paper you have to fill out, which means something can go wrong. The masseuse didn't know I was pregnant until I told her!! She didn't receive all the info I already provided. I'll go somewhere else for my next massage.

The facility is clean and peaceful. Love the serene rooms with the heated massage tables. The massage therapist, Kat, was excellent and very knowledgeable. You definitely leave feeling rejuvenated.
