It was my first time going to this place. I had booked the appointment well in advance probably about a week ago. I HAD SPECIFICALLY said that I have insurance from company X. But when I arrived to the place they told me that person going to do the massage will not take me since I do not have insurance with company Y and on top of that receptionist said the note on your appointment says no insurance. So she gave me two choices 1) Do the session with student rate with no claim. (so take spend the money out of my pocket for their mistake) 2) Book the appointment again. So I took neither of them but when person is at your door step for the first time then he/she must have a reason for it. Not a friendly way to do a customer service. I can not comment on other services but this was not a warm welcome. may never go back again.

Had a massage with Tiara today and it felt soo painful in a good way. Very friendly therapist that knows what she’s doing. Took an extra mile to go deep under layers of muscle because of my back pain and massaged the areas that I only wanted to be massaged on. Been coming here for a couple of years now and out of 15 sessions, 13 were great. The only thing that I dislike is that the walls are paper thin that I can hear people talking and the floors creak a lot. Also, sometimes its hard to find parking because its a busy street so make sure you come a little early to find parking.

I recently visited Academy Massage for a deep tissue massage and was not disappointed. Academy Massage made everything extremely easy from the booking to the payment. My first time having acupuncture and cupping procedures. Suh, the Acupuncturist was very easy to trust as she is relatable and confident. She answers all my questions and pays attention to verbal and non verbal cues. The pain in my neck eased up within minutes after inserting the needles and the cupping helped my shoulder relax. I have been getting massages here periodically over the past few years. I find it convenient that they have many massage rooms and therapists, so there are usually a few options when I make an appointment. The facility is always clean and comfortable. The reception staff are very organized and always make sure that they have all my insurance info before the appointment. If they have time, they always offer to let me pay before the massage so I don't have to worry about it afterwards. I love the fact that my partner and I can get a couples massage and not pay the outrageous prices that a spa would charge. Lately I have been seeing Brittany and Tina to help relieve my tension headaches and both of these therapists have been awesome, customizing the treatment for my particular issues. My only complaint is that their schedule does fill up so it is hard to get in last minute on evenings or weekends, but I guess this just means that they are doing good business!

I have been going here for over a year, and am disappointed at my recent visit. They have a new receptionist and I was trying to discuss my coverage with her; granted it was a busy time and I had no problem waiting but she hurried me out the door without properly discussing the matter. My usual therapist was not there and I was not pleased with the treatment given. I hope this behaviour does not indicate further trends; saddened.

I was excited to try out this place as the reviews look good and lots of people talk about it but my experience did not go as good as I thought it would. First off I booked an appointment by email so I wouldn't mess up what I wanted to get on the online booking and it still got messed up. I asked for a massage with cupping and a sauna, I ended up getting a steam room and just the massage no cupping. The steam room felt very not relaxing as the light is very bright, it's attached to the washroom that everyone uses, and it felt like it wasn't cleaned before I went in. When I was done with the sauna the massage lady took me into the room and started massaging, she actually did a good job no complaint there... just in the end of it, it felt like she was waiting for the massage to be done. As soon as my time was up she got up so fast and left the room. Online it says that after the massage you get water and there was none of that. As a person who came here for the first time the staff was not helpful, and did not seem welcoming. I think maybe because I was one of the last appointment that lasted till close ? But at the same time I feel like customer service should be good all around. I would probably not come back but thank you for the massage.

For anyone without insurance looking to get the most out of their money. Amazing. I look very very young so most places I visit overlook the customer service aspect with me. Not at Academy Massage. From the initial phone call right until I walked out the door I received 5 star treatment. Oh my goodness the therapist who worked on me was wonderful! I felt very at ease and only a day after running a 13 mile half marathon he had me feeling right as rain. I only paid half price because the therapist who worked on me was a student, which is an amazing deal. I highly recommend getting massage therapy from him while he is still a student because the knowledge and care he brings to his practice is worth what you pay at high end five star practices. I will definitely be back.

I'm an Arborist, so I climb trees all day. That means the equivilent of about five hundred pull-ups and lifting five thousand pounds worth of logs all day, every day. This also means my back doesn't appreciate my career choice, most of the time. The only thing that truly releives the pain is a good long massage, and of all the places I've tried, Academy is by far the best. Its clean, friendly, warm and welcoming. Its got good vibes and great therapists. Luckily I have an awesome insurance plan, that helps me heal my ever aging back. The best part is, they take care of all my confusing insurance stuff for me, so I'm in and out and back to work in no time! I would defiantly recommend Academy to anybody.

CAITLIN: attention pregnant and post pregnant clients: My massage therapist was Caitlin and she was fabulous! She was able to work through pain I had in my back for over a year. She was so kind and loving. Overall, she made my experience great. I would recommend her to anyone but especially pregnancy and post pregnancy. Most of my pain was from my pregnancy and she went straight to the source.

Do NOT go here for a prenatal massage. This establishment does not appear to have a process to ensure that their practitioners are competent to provide safe, comfortable, and effective prenatal massages. One of my RMTs was clearly not trained properly in this area, and the massage made me ill and caused me to call my health care practitioner on an emergent basis. Prenatal massage was listed on her areas of expertise on their website. Two stars becasue one of my practitioners was very accommodating, even if prenatal massage was not listed on her profile as one of her specialized areas. Also, another practitioner cancelled on me with less than 18 hours notice because she "wanted to end her day early" the following day. This establishment is profit focussed rather than caring about client needs.

Parking is limited during the evening sometime so I would leave earlier to find space on a side street, but daytime appointments often allow for many parking options.

Just came from there. Was never seen. Checked in @ 09:50 for a 10:00 appointment. Waited patiently thinking the RMT was late or running a little longer with a patient; all of which would’ve have been moderately accepted. Miscommunication between staff created a “11:00” appointment time. That’s an hour difference. Most people can’t just waste an hour of their day for someone else’s mistakes. Came for relaxation left with anger stress and the aches and pains I came with. This was my first in person experience @ academy massage. I have communicated in the past via academy booking site/email regarding direct billing. After a few correspondences, I was never contacted back regarding the status of my direct billing inquiry even after a few follow up inquiries. I cannot rate them regarding their RMTs or any of their services due to not being able to see anyone. Winnipeg has many options for massage therapy to give them another shot due to these very disruptive experiences. I hope that others will have a better experience.

Hi there, I have had great massages by most of your therapists. I would like to commend Becky Guzzi. She honestly deserves a raise. My neck and shoulders were shot based on my line of work. I had an hour Saturday appointment and never been so relaxed after a massage and forgot what it feels like. Massage experience was great, there is nothing bad to say about Jena. However, the non communication from their front desk will ensure I never go back. I have insurance and the day before my massage, it was updated that I was required to bring a doctor's prescription. Without my knowledge I showed up thinking I was covered, and ended up paying the full fee of my massage, or told to pay 50% of the fee for a cancellation under 24 hours because I didn't know I needed the prescription. I feel I should have been updated on this change, especially when my appointment was at 3pm the next day they had found this out, and I had from 9am until the appointment time to get the required prescription, which I would have provided without hesitation if I had known. They had all my contact information; email and phone number, to let me know, and it felt real dishonest that I couldn't be updated, especially involving something to do with health and therapy. It ruins the experience being told all of a sudden you now have to pay $84 even when you are covered, and I now have to file with my insurance unnecessarily to get refunded.

I have been going to Academy massage for at least 4 years and have always got a courtesy call as a reminder. My wife and I booked several couples massage one of which I had to cancel because we were sick in bed last month, they told us they were charging us a no show because it was less than 24 hrs. I explained I have been a long standing client and was literally in bed nursing a cold and pounding headache the admin said no exceptions could be made. Today I get a voice mail asking if I am coming in for my appointment as I am 10 minutes "late." What appointment? I am in my pjs making breakfast, no phone call was made to remind me of the appointment the day before. I immediately call to check in they tell me they no longer do the calls to remind clients but send an email. Didn't get the email, wasn't aware of the change. I explain that and they insist they are still going to charge me. So they can't call to tell me I am late for an appoinment I made months ago and forgot charge me a no show as a result but can't call to remind me? After 4 years of business I am done with Academy. I will be taking our business to somewhere that gives courtesy including courtesy calls.

Will never go here again. This place gives awkward massages. I once had a male massage therapist ask me if I would close my eyes the whole time I was on my back, which I usually do but anyway, I thought this was kind of weird. I wondered why but the second time I went here another massage therapist actually put a towel over my eyes to ensure I couldn't see anything. Super weird! Also, reception is horrible - not professional. Can't understand what the lady is saying on the phone. She once gave me a receipt with somebody else's name, address, and phone number on it. Terrible! Talk about patient confidentiality. Usually I don't ask for a receipt as I have direct billing but this one time I just happened to. Good thing I noticed. I now wonder if she's ever given my information out to anybody by mistake..

On October 28/20 I went for my first massage. The staff was polite, and the service was excellent. My therapist let me know that I can remove my mask when facing down on the table, but required to have my mask on when facing up. When I was leaving the premises, there was one client not wearing a mask in the common area and one staff person removing his mask when making his way from a back room going up the stairs - right in from of me. One week later, on November 4, when I was leaving and had to get my insurance card back from the receptionist, she was not wearing a mask. When I said something, her reply was that she was just eating. I replied "you are not eating now, you are serving a client". She pointed to the plastic shield, and then put on her mask. She was very rude. I cancelled the rest of my appointments and scheduled them at Urban Massage where the therapists wear masks and protective face shields, and the bonus is that they are less expensive.

AMAZING massage experience! From the time I walked in the door my experience at academy massage was wonderful. The atmosphere and cleanliness of the clinic was very impressive and the reception was super friendly and always happy to see you. I have seen a few therapists now at Academy and each therapist I have seen has specifically addressed the problems I have had coming into the appointment and went above and beyond. Phillipe doesn't listen to what you say. O specifically told him that I bruise easily on my upper back. During the massage I told him harder pressure on my lower back and very light on my upper back. I had to tell him multiple times that the pressure was to hard, and every time he went to my upper back it's like he forgot. Woke up this morning with bruises along my shoulder blades and am very sore. not to mention I was in there for an hour he only did 45 mins and I asked for a full body massage he didn't even touch my legs or feet. not happy. I wouldn't recommend him to anyone

I’ve received 2 massages so far, and the service was just what I needed. Came in with sore shoulders and neck, and Jordon helped me relieve the stiffness and soreness with a deep massage. I have been to a few other locations, but havent felt any better that I did after Academy Massage. Front desk and staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. It especially helps that they are open after regular business hours (usually book around 6pm). 10/10!

If you don't like something about your massage, all you have to do is mention it to the staff at the front desk and they will make sure that it's noted on your file for next time.

This is not the first time that I have been to Academy Massage. But it will be the last. The therapists are always late, and they cut your treatment time down. I paid for an hour and got 50min. The last time I was in the therapist did not even show up, and some other therapist who was walking in the back door quickly took over. The owner is overly fake and utterly annoying. The therapist that was doing the massage had her phone in her pocket, and kept checking it throughout the massage. Come on!! I am not stupid, I could hear the vibration. Not worth your money. Or your time!

This is by far the BEST massage clinic I have ever attended. The atmosphere is both very welcoming and comforting. They have a terrific selection of therapists (all registered) so it is almost inevitable to find a technique that will work for you. They have therapist with variation of expertise on massages. I always see Koorosh, for my views his the BEST! I work and evolve in fitness industry and tight, knotted fascia was always an issue. Koorosh is an Osteopath and has an expertise on deep fascia release, I do highly recommended check Academy Massage and Koorosh or other therapist.

Therapists are straight up saveges, my wife gave me a suprise massage at this place. Female therapist asked what kind of massage I prefer, I said to only massage my back, not the whole body. She pretty much did not follow what i said. She would rub her chest and breath weirdly behind my ears while my wife was next to me laying face down. I couldn't tell to my wife because she would go ballistic.

They ask that you leave your shoes at the bins provided at the front door. After my massage my shoes were stolen. I wasn't offered any compensation or anything for the inconvenience and was sent on my way. Plot twist, the shoes were taken by mistake and returned but I was asked to pick them up at my own convenient time and still no compensation was offered at this time. Even though I enjoyed the therapist whom I've regularly seen I can't bring myself to return to this business.

First and last time going there. I wanted to try a new place since I moved areas. The front desk were not welcoming at all. The lady said i had to prepay but it was okay with me because I thought maybe that’s company policy. But then this man who was also a new client was told he can pay after the massage. I don’t know why I was told I had to pay before mine. I have a massage every 2-3 months and I’ve never been told to prepay. Felt like she treated my like that because of my race and the way she looked at me was condescending. Will not return.

The credibility of this place is highly based on the masseuse you book with. I've had the best and the worst from here. Josh S is the best masseuse I've ever had after years of searching for the best in the biz. He is incredibly knowledgeable of what areas need to be worked on based on your needs. He really pays attention to the little details. I can't find anyone who can tend to the pains in deeper pressure points like he can. He is talented and very busy, as he should be. So book when you can and you will not find anyone better !

This place is awesome. I had had several appointments the past few months and I highly recommend Academy Massage Therapy. I would share the name of the RMT that I usually book, but this person's schedule and availability speaks for itself. Usually you need to book about two weeks in advance for an appointment with this individual because this RMT is very good at their craft. Academy Massage Therapy offers direct billing which is fantastic and its automatic.
