Lisa was absolutely fantastic! I had an hour long prenatal massage and it was one of the best massages, prenatal or not, that I've had. Perfect pressure, she was attentive to my needs, and made necessary adjustments since I am pregnant. It was I think my third massage I've had at A Step Beyond and was the best one yet. My shoulder was almost frozen and I wanted to try all my options before going to a doctor. I saw both Moriah and Amber so far and they were both so very good. I have not found a therapist in State College that was as knowledgeable about the human body and how the muscles work. The massages brought much needed relief to my shoulder and back and I will return again and again for not only specific tissue work but also for relaxation and overall health. I can't wait to see the new space that is being prepared for their new offices as the space they have now is quite small. Even with that though I plan on using A Step Beyond often in the future.

Good experience. Definitely a therapeutic massage based company. Not the "spa like" experience but still comfortable. Offer a wide range of therapy for different needs. TMJ therapy and headache relief were effective. Also tried the contrast therapy(hot and cold stones). Will visit again. Easy booking on mindbody app.

This is the best massage I've ever gotten. I get a deep tissue massage once or twice a month (try it, if you've only ever had a Swedish massage) and feel so much looser after! Hours are flexible too so I can usually get an appointment the same week I call!

The massage therapist's at A Step Beyond Massage Therapy are fantastic! Their schedule is very accommodating for busy people. If a time doesn't work they find a way to schedule me. It took me several years after my sports massage therapist retired to find another therapist equal to the task of working on my beat up and abused muscles. Because I'm a bigger guy I needed a massage therapist that could get into places deep enough to work out all my adhesions and scar tissue built up from heavy weight lifting. Moriah got me back on track! She helped me heal faster and even took the time to go over stretches. I been going to Moriah for over 3 years now. I highly recommend the both therapists at A Step Beyond Massage Therapy. They've both do a great job and they adapt to what the client needs. They're not afraid to ask and listen to their clients. They really care about your well-being.

Great atmosphere. Skilled, courteous staff. I will be going back. I had a wonderful first experience here recently with a 60-minute full body deep tissue massage. The atmosphere was relaxing from the moment I arrived. I was greeted warmly, gently, and sincerely by the welcoming staff. My therapist put me at ease -- she was equally comfortable chatting congenially when I felt like talking, or allowing me to remain silent with my thoughts for long stretches during the session. Her hands were warm, gentle but firm, confident, and never rushed. With the combined atmosphere of the music, light, simple elegant decor, and massage, I found myself at once very present in the moment, and also contemplating all the blessings in my life. By the end my body felt like it was floating on a cloud and my heart was swelling with renewed gratitude for life. And the next morning when I woke up, my back was feeling much less stiff and sore than usual. I will definitely be coming back, and sending my friends, family, and coworkers here. In fact I have already purchased a gift massage for my mother-in-law.

Grace was an amazing therapist! I explained to her exactly what I was looking for, as I had just come off a 16 mile run the day before. She asked me throughout the session if the pressure was okay and seems to sense when it was by gently reducing the pressure. I highly recommend Grace!

A Step Beyond Massage Studio was recommended to me after I had surgery for Breast Cancer. Because I couldn't sleep on my sides, I had a terrible pinched nerve in my back. The owner Mariah got me in right away with Thea Delaney. She worked absolute wonders for me. She was patient and so incredibly knowledgeable. She was able to help with healing from my radiation as well, since she's skilled in lymphatic massage. I cannot recommend this studio or massage therapist enough. I continue to see Thea monthly for maintenance massage and my body thanks me!

I suffer from Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis. Each day, I suffer pain. It's all day. It's every day. Moriah's deep tissue massages reach into the muscle, she goes in through layers and layers of muscle bundles, and unravels them with her hands. This nurse is stunned. Because I'm a nurse, I appreciate that she has such an advanced knowledge of anatomy and that she knows how pain can resonate. In my 47 years on Earth, I've had literally, hundreds of hours of massages. Not one of them has ever been as relaxing and relieving as Moriah's massage. Brief version of my massage? "Moriah ROCKS!"

A step beyond has excellent massage therapists that take massage beyond the normal fixed therapy,They are able to feel your problem areas and modify the massage to work on your problem areas. I have seen all of the therapist, and i would recommend them all. Each one has their own style so try them all and pick the style that fits you, or see all of them like me.

We drive 30 miles over the mountain for our massages. We keep making the drive, because we always have a great experience here. I have been struggling with a sharp pain below my left shoulder blade that shoots through to my chest for about 10 years now. I can not lay on my back, lean back on a couch, in the car and airplane trips are unbearable. I have had heart testing, x-rays, MRI's, etc. over the years with no relief. I finally decide to get a couple's massage with my husband, and my therapist finds my spot and has started giving me relief. My pain decreases each time I have a visit. I am hoping that it will eventually go away or at least get close to it. So happy that I finally started getting massages, because they have been amazing. I have other problem areas to that are being worked on, but this is my biggest issue and I needed to give Kudos to my therapist for this one! Thank you Christin!!!

Thea was a fantastic massage therapist. I get massages often enough to know she gave me an excellent deep tissue massage, targeting my hip and lower back. It was healing and alleviated my discomfort. She explained the muscle and ligament involvement, taught me a simple self massage technique, gave me 2 stretch exercises to prevent the muscles from getting tight again. She even wrote down the muscles involved. It felt amazing and was exactly what I was seeking. She got into the tissue deeply in various positions and released the hip. I feel better after having discomfort for 6 weeks.
