My therapist was wonderful and effective. When I explained to her that I genuinely wanted to get my back and neck problems figured out, she was diligent in explaining the best steps to get me healthy! She gave me at-home stretches, and when I asked if I should come back in a week, so told me 2 weeks would actually better—I really appreciated this, since her recommendation of a return visit in 2 weeks was clearly for my benefit, and not about getting me back in to make more money off me. Overall, I would recommend Ashley & The Knot to anyone looking for a quality massage, and anyone trying to get their body functioning properly.

Decent massages but they advertise that they offer direct billing when the staff don't know how to work it or are too lazy to figure it out. Every time I have been, I have had to pay out of pocket because they are unable to make it work. They do not know how to do it, or in some cases, I have found that they just don't want to try, and would rather have you just figure it out and be reimbursed. All in all, it becomes a big hassle every time because now you need to contact you insurance and go through the process of being reimbursed when you thought you could just have it directly billed. You should not advertise that you offer direct billing when you really don't.

Had a massage with Ashleigh. Im from out of town so I went here because it was close to where I was staying & the reviews seemed promising. Back home I try to go as frequently as I can, with my staple therapist whose had 10+ years of experience. Compared to that I could tell this therapist was inexperienced. Unfortunately, the massage was pretty lack luster. My therapist didn't give me a genuine feeling that she cared; it felt like she was putting on a customer service act for me. The massage ended rather abruptly with no segway back to reality after trying to be in a relaxed state for an hour. There was just something missing and it was the feeling of being cared for that I've experienced from other therapists. If I were to recommend this place, ask for a therapist with experience if you are dealing with chronic pain and injury. A note to anyone with issues with walking, this clinic is on the second floor of a building with no elevator.

Sandeep’s treatments are easily some of the best massages I’ve had in 20 years. His knowledge of movement, healing, and anatomy is a level above most and seems to be driven by a genuine passion for the science & art. He’s helped me with spasms/pain throughout my body, especially hips & traps. He’s also got a lovely demeanour. The space is simple, relaxing and quiet.

I had chosen Why Knot based on online reviews and one in particular. It was a negative review by Francois explaining a poor experience they had and it's followed by a reply by an employee under Why Knot's account stating that the poor quality in service was remedied. As you can see on that review/reply, they apologized and asked if they would retract their negative review. Personally I saw that as a company that cared for there name enough to make an online presence, which doesn't always go so well. I figured I'd try Why Knot and not to my surprise it was a fantastic experience. I had never had a professional massage done so I was a little nervous. From walking into the office I was greeted by Keely, who was lovely, and a generally calming atmosphere the office had given. The massage itself was more than I hoped for. I wish I could describe it more than that but I was in such a trance some would call sleeping. 10/10 I'll be back soon.

Had a great experience at Whyknot massage. I had a very sore hip and was lucky to make a short notice appointment. I arrived early to complete the new patient questionnaire. My therapist was very good at answering all my questions. She made very good use of our time, the massage was deep and thorough. She even gave me a few good stretches to help ease my pain. One day later I was feeling back to normal, I’m continuing with the stretches though to prevent any recurring pains. I would recommend Whyknot massage and I will use their services again next time.

**Updates** Right after I left the review, the owner has phoned me and explained what happened this afternoon. According to her, what I have received was also Deep Tissue work in Shiatsu massage. She also offered me for complimentary massage with different therapist but I didn't feel comfortable going back. However I do appreciate her calling back to me to address discomfort I experienced and decided to re-rate from one star to 3 stars. ---------------------------- I don't know where to start because I feel greatly awkward leaving the only negative experience for Why Knot Massage since there are great reviews overall but I'll try to write exactly how I've been massaged. I just had 90 minutes massage from Shauna couple hours ago. Based on reviews she was significantly awesome therapist but for somehow for me, 90minutes of this afternoon was the most boring, meaningless massage I have ever had. When I completed forms, I ensured that I need Deep Tissue Massage for overall my body especially focusing on shoulders. As starting massage session, Shauna indeed told me that she could tell I'm having severe back and shoulder issues and she assured that I will feel so much better after. I was hoping for that too. She started "observing" my body as touching, holding and grabing for a while and I thought "well..this is somewhat different than the usual masssage but there will be something strong pressure coming along." Unfortunately, it didn't happen. 80%of time, I don't know how to explain cause this was really weird, she was touching my body as playing piano, and occasional grabbing and holding. In fact I felt somewhat unsecure when she was grabbing and poking my belly, touching breast area and times when she was lifting my leg and bending forward and backwards like Chiropractic movements as wearing only underwear. Rest of 20% of the time was somewhat "massage-like" action but it was not even close to "Ahhhh it feels good." Definitely, I could tell that she was passionate about her massage techniques but I simply couldn't feel any good pressure at all. It was literally touching one part of my body with one hand and mild press on the other part of my body with another hand and I literally felt like became a "Human body sample" for massage students so they can learn where joints, bones are. During massage, I was so close to tell her to stop and let me get out of here but I couldn't because she was really deep into her own work. I was lying on the bed feeling nothing and building up headache for 90 minutes. Even the music right beside my head was quite loud and the music was all about singing with band which is not the usual Zen massage music. For me, different approaches are good as long as I get some good relaxing deep pressure but there was not even one deep good strokes or pressure on my shoulders. At the end, she was super happy of her work and explained what would happen to my body in the next couple of hours and days which sadly won't happen to me. I have paid $136 for 90minutes of touching and grabbing hands and left the room with dizziness and stiff shoulders.

This place is terrible. I went in for a massage and they were unable to direct bill my benefits provider even though they told me over the phone that they could. They told me the system was down and I could either pay for the appointment outright or come back later. I chose to come back later. On the day of my massage appointment they called me and told me they were going to cancel my appointment because I violated there 24 hour cancellation policy on my previous appointment even though it was there system that was down! Terrible customer service!

Just went to see Shauna for the first time today. Man, this lady knows her stuff. If you’re the type who wants a simple, relaxing, quiet massage- DO NOT go to her. She’s just not that type- WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I NEEDED HER. She was so incredibly full of knowledge, and explained to me why she was doing things as she did them and how she wanted to take me on a journey that would help my chronic pain. She told me about my body and why I was experiencing the pain I am. She took into consideration my past traumas and didn’t work them to the point of me being in even more pain walking out, which I’ve experienced far too many times in the past. Even as I was waiting beforehand, her last client came out and was gushing to me about how no one else had ever helped her like Shauna. If you want someone who is actually interested in fixing your problems, and doesn’t see you as just another client in her schedule- GO SEE SHAUNA! It might feel like more of a lesson on your body than a relaxing spa getaway, but I have never learned so much nor experienced a practitioner more focused on my individual needs and education. I recently had my first massage with Alison after her being highly recommended to me. I was having issues with my hips, knees and low back after doing some agressive weight training and she was the second person I had gone to in less than a week. The first person I went to after calling mutiple places on short notice took me last minute and although a seemingly reputable sports style clinic I realized within the first 5 mins that I was getting nothing more than a relaxing massage and still no relief from my pain and tension. I then was fortunate enough to have Why Knot recommmended to me and Alison was incredible! Such a comfortable atmosphere, excellent therapeutic massage and overall wonderful experience. I immediately felt some relief and within two days was back in the gym training and better than before! I am currently booking my next massage online and will be visiting Alison at the very least once a month she is amazing!

They have some great massage therapists, however, I have had so many issues with getting receipts from them. They do not provide paper receipts and when they say they would email it to me I never received it. I always had to email the owner and ask her to send one again. I initially thought it was because my Mindbody account setup, but it was not. My husband and I recently had massage sessions (in April and May) and my husband's receipt did not have an RMT # and I did not receive any receipt at all. My husband tried to follow up with the owner but he has not heard from her for about 3 weeks. I sent her another email requesting receipts but no luck yet either. Because of this we have not been able to claim those massages through our benefit. I just wish they would provide paper receipts since it has been a huge issue.

Where to start. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 10 years ago stemming from some major surgeries (ACL, Shoulder Labrum) and old sports related injuries that simply never went away. I have been through every option for treatment and massage seems to be the absolute best and most effective. After trying 4 different therapists I found Shauna Brasse through some online reviews and the Why Knot website. No therapist I have ever went to can compare. Shauna's approach to healing is like nothing I have ever experienced. Not sure how many treatments we are on now but it must be about 12-15 hours and I can honestly say that the quality of my life has improved greatly. I have more range of motion with joints and energy levels are on the rise. Before finding Why Knot and Shauna, I could barely do anything active (coming from someone who played competitive sports their entire life). I am now back to playing sports recreationally and biking (something I couldn't do without pain). I highly recommend using Shauna's services especially for people who suffer chronic pain but you must be patient and allow your body to adapt to her treatments. I didn't experience much relief until about 6 hours into our treatment plan but since then, I feel I have my body and mind back from over ten years ago. Cant say enough good things about the overall atmosphere, décor and services provided by this business. If you suffer chronic pain and acu, chiro or any other service is not helping, GO SEE SHAUNA!

I personally like a sterile and clinic feeling to the places I go for massage, and don't particularly like when I go somewhere (like a therapeutic place) and they ask you for a tip...I wouldn't tip my doctor to help me feel better. I’ve seen several different massage therapists over the years, but until I met Shauna, no one was able to provide more than temporary relief. Shauna’s unique approach has lead to fixing the my underlying problems not just addressing my symptoms. By a stroke of good luck I happened upon Shauna about 9 months ago. I was struggling with lower back problems that I assumed were caused by lifting/carrying my twins. Shauna truly knows what she is doing. If you are simply looking for a deep tissue massage while listening to ocean waves or birds chirping, then she may not be the person for you. If you are looking for someone who thrives on getting to the root of your issues and is passionate about helping you move and feel the way you are supposed to, then be patient and stick with her. She can read your body so well, and is able to detect past injuries and/or if you are out of alignment without you even mentioning what your issues are. It is actually quite amazing. My posture and flexibility have improved tremendously. Shauna is always very upbeat and genuinely wants to help. I am thankful to have her in my life.

We have been going to Why knot for about 10 Years now. I am currently having acupuncture and massage with Laurel! The changes in my body from the combination are just unreal! I am so thrilled with the way I am feeling. The tension in my neck, shoulders and lower lumbar have really let up. The combination of the two is helping immensely with my migraines. Needed a massage saw the reviews and all ready to book an appointment until it asked me for a credit card and asked me to pay before I even got my massage! I’ve been to many clinics and spas and this is the only one that has ever asked for this! So unprofessional. Asking for a payment before a service has even been given? Says they have direct billing but that doesn’t work if you are paying. After seeing this I looked on other websites and no where else asks for a credit card or asks you to pay before hand! Stay clear from this place! Seriously fishy!

I have seen Shauna 4 times now. And she has done AMAZING things for me. I have Chronic back pain from a wrestling accident that occurred 16 years ago, and recently Dislocated my shoulder in a riding incident. After 2 months of suffering from the dislocation (having tried 2 other massage therapists, and physio-Therapy) I booked an apt with Shauna. Her technique is very different from any other massage I have received, I did feel some relief immediately for sure, and I had more movement than I had before going in to see her... But it took me a few hours to really be impressed. Later that night when I went to sleep, I wasn't in pain. (I feel the most pain at night, as my body tries to 'relax') I booked in to see her again, and gained Even more movement in my shoulder and felt relief in my back that I have not had for years!! After the 3rd time seeing her I re-injured my shoulder again... And having already booked a 4 day snowboarding trip, I was getting worried I was going to have to cancel... BUT, I booked in again! Shauna had my Shoulder feeling 90% better and my back is feeling better every time. I HAD THE BEST HARD CORE SNOWBOARDING TRIP EVER!!!! - Ok... Maybe I was a little more hard core in my younger years, But I felt just as good! So Thankful to have found her. She has helped to heal pain that has existed for Many years. I had previously surrendered to the idea that I had to live with the pain. I no longer believe that. I am over 2 hrs from Calgary, But I will book in With Shauna every chance I can! THANK YOU SHAUNA. I appreciate your passion for helping people. And you have Helped me GREATLY!!!
