I booked a 2 hour spa package here because of a gift card. I ran a few minutes late because I couldn’t figure out where the spa was. I tried calling twice to ask where to go but there was no answer. By the time I got in for my massage she only had 45 minutes instead of 60 but I still got charged for a full 60 minute massage. The massage I had was wonderful and Tracie was awesome. The facial was also great.

Worst possible service. It used to be good 5 years ago but now they clearly have RMT's who shouldn't be in this bussiness. They give you a relaxation massage instead a deep tissue or theraputic. And when asked to increase pressure (cause thats what you booked for) they tell u that its more charges. I mean really? And also, they tell you thus is the best pressue they can give. Overall I would never recimmend anyone to go there. And this has happened to me and my husband a couple of times now. And they worst possible customer service. Thry have truly dowgraded them selves!

The massage was great and the experience would have been a 5/5 except for my appointment time being bumped. I had booked for 2 pm and received two emails confirming 2 pm. When I got there at 1:45 ish (was directed to arrive 10 minutes prior to appointment) I was told I was early as my appointment was at 2:15! I killed 20-25 minutes walking around before my appointment. No reason was given for the time change - lead to believe I had it wrong but I reconfirmed the time on emails when I got home. Despite this, I will go back again and hope this won't happen again.

This spa was not what I had hoped in the least. We spent over $600 (plus tip) for a couples spa package. We were greeted by a girl that was wearing a ratty knotted touque with her headphones in on her phones that wouldn't move from her chair. She seemed annoyed when we came in and was not warm, welcoming or anything at all. The massage was marginal. The "wrap" was literally just being wrapped in the blanket I was already in. The table was so hard I was uncomfortable and in pain most of my treatment . The facial was really nice until she tried to massage me. Her massage during the facial was so bad I literally jumped on the table because it hurt and was so uncomfortable. There was no place to put our things and there was no place to wash the oil off or even fix our hair (being that we came in from out of town and we're going to dinner next). I will not be back and would not recommend this place to any one.

I phoned and booked a couples massage package in August. The massage was decent, however the website is extremely misleading and I was not informed over the phone when I booked the appointment that the cost outlined on the website ($305) was per person not per couple. One would assume when booking a “COUPLES PACKAGE” the cost would be per couple. It makes no sense that the price is per person for a “COUPLES PACKAGE”. Since this info is not given on the website, the receptionist should have informed me when I phoned to book the couples package. I was shocked to learn after the massage that my bill was DOUBLE what I was expecting to pay. All other websites I looked at clearly indicate if the price is per couple. To me, I felt I was deceived and I felt I had no choice but to pay. I am a student and can’t afford to spend hard earned money on luxuries like these. It doesn’t seem fair. I was using a gift card but I had to go into my savings and take money from that. The price for a couples massage package should be per couple. Who books a “couples massage package” for ONE person??

Had couples massage - relaxation and deep tissue. Our massage therapists were perfect - professional, detailed, patient, and comfortable. The atmosphere was quiet and perfectly lit, the conversation occasional and relaxed, and the overall condition of the spa was all high quality. Lakeside is a hidden gem, close to home for us. Easy to book and good availability. Highly recommend.

The spa is clean and well maintained, although as other reviews had pointed out, no change room or showers which was fine for me as I live nearby. The check in process was a bit disorganized. The receptionist didn’t tell me to bring my form back to her and then she was busy with a departing customer so my appointment ended up starting 15min late because my RMT didn’t know I was there (and he didn’t ask until that point). Staff whispered a lot amongst themselves too while looking at patrons which was a bit weird and not conducive to creating a relaxing environment. Massage itself was pretty good - I had picked a junior price point and he WAS junior but overall worked out the shoulder issues I was having - things were just a little less polished than you’d typically expect at that price point, junior or not. Overall this would be a nice local little spot if they just made some tweaks to the flow of service delivery and general customer service skills of the staff. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t excellent either.

Overall a great experience. They subscribe to the Mind Body app to book appointments online , the front desk is great and the massage are always great. The are really clean and organized. I now use Laurie every time as she knows my body well. One peice of improvement would be billing two insurances at the same instead of one and I having to do the second one manually from home.

Walked in the door and got attitude before I said a word...brutal service, will not return. My wife buys gift packages from this spa 5 at a time. Before we booked (earlier the same day) we confirmed we had 1 full massage credit left. I walk in the door and first thing the receptionist / admin says are you paying by CC or direct billing from insurance and I said we have a credit. She says no I don't have a credit. Well I said we confirmed before we booked and before I came out and I don't have my wallet on me so I won't be able to pay if we don't. Let me check your wife's file, oh you only have a credit of $72 not enough for a full hour massage which you have booked and I said ok well I have to go I guess AND turned around and walked out. My wife calls back that minute and this person has all the excuses, I didn't know you guys bought a gift pack of 5, I'm new here, your husband left before I could give him options, my wife said because how I was treated I just left. REMINDER I took my shoes off as this is a SPA, person had plenty, plenty of time to give me options since there was not a soul in the place and had to put my shoes on to leave. Will be calling the manager tomorrow to see if this review can be salvaged.

The experience was great; however, the price is extremely high compared to other massage places. Because of the price, I will not be returning. There are other places to go that are just as good, if not better for a much cheaper price. The average massage around Calgary, I found, is $80 -90. The price at Lakeside Spa is $114.00. That's a big difference if I am to go every three weeks or so.

Being a professional classical musician, my body goes through the same rigorous demands as an athlete and the years of wear and tear take its toll. Darryl Blunt, co-owner and senior therapist is so knowledgeable, personable and effective with his treatments that I always leave feeling tons better than when I show up. He used to work at Banff Springs willow stream before devoting full time to Lakeside. You will not be disappointed!

Had a nice relaxing time, massage was thorough. The table was heated which was a bonus. Therapist was nice and knew I was there to just relax so the conversation was limited. I have booked in for noon & upon arrival I was told the therapist was running late due to weather. I had scheduled a 60 min massage & 60 min facial. By the time I got into my room and discussed my reasons for being there it was 12:15. The massage didn’t start until I was undressed and on the table so not sure exactly however everything was wrapped up by 2pm. I was charged for the full time though. Otherwise I’d go back!

Very basic facial. They have u fill out a form about massages which have nothing to do with my skin history ?? They threaten u about being tardy and then the therapist was late in starting. Facial was essentially done in very low lighting- why? She needs to see my skin! As a result the Skin products were left on my face, neck and in my hair and the facial felt quite useless. Lots of excessive sheet and towel fluffing. Just wasn’t relaxing or effective. She was nice but they need to step it up with professionalism and what they offer.

** Blue Cross refused payment for the massage - beware if using health benefits** In October 2015 I first tried the Spa, booking a Senior RMT appointment online. I arrived later that day and confirmed at the desk that I would be processing the cost of the massage through extended health benefits. I was told that I could not direct bill, but that a receipt would be available at the end of the treatment. The massage was fine, I took my receipt and left. A few days later, my claim from Blue Cross was rejected, specifying that the massage therapist that provided the services did not satisfy the number of qualifying hours for them to be eligible for health benefits. I contacted the spa and asked how that could happen, given that I had requested a Senior RMT and was also asked prior to the treatment if I was claiming the expense..........surely at some point I should have been told? The spa's response was simply that because I booked online, they were 'unable to inquire about everything prior to the treatment'.....or in other words, it was my fault. I have communicated back and forth with the spa manager for the past few months (Tiana). I have requested that she call me to discuss what went wrong, however all I have received has been e-mails basically saying there is nothing they can do. Horrible customer service......my first experience of the Lakeside Spa will definitely be my last.

I’ve been a client for over a decade. They’ve raised their prices quite significantly a few years ago ($110 for a 1 hr massage!) however, it’s always continued to be my “go-to”... until Monday. I was experiencing back pain so I took the afternoon of work to go for a Therapeutic Massage. While the massage was okay, the therapist working on me was VERY sick. She was sniffling and coughing and I felt “trapped” in a small room with her. When she was working on my neck, all I could smell was her cough drop while she was breathing over me. After I left, I immediately felt sick with a sore throat. I called the Spa within an hour of my massage and left a message, letting them know of my experience. I expressed that I did not want to be compensated; I just wanted them to be aware. Disappointingly, after 36 hours, no one returned my call to acknowledge or apologize. I will never return and unfortunately, they’ve lost a longtime customer.

To start the receptionist is very unwelcoming. Booked a prenatal massage here, when I showed up they were not prepared. Then when I entered the room there was no prenatal tummy pillow, I was informed someone else was using it. They improvised and I laid sideways, but pretty disappointing when you specifically book a prenatal massage and someone else is using the pillow at the same time. If you've ever been pregnant you know that this is what you look forward to, to finally be able to lay on your tummy! The facial was the worst facial I have ever had, waste of time and money. It was the hydrating facial and my face was drier after. Needless to say, I won't be returning.

Being that I have taken massage therapy classes , I know a bit about how to give a excellent massage and know techniques . I walked in with a Mva injury that was reinjured during physio .. i was given a gc at xmas. This was a bit pricey and don’t think I will go again for more reasons then one. I walked out with a migraine . I found that the person did not know what she was doing as she had no proper posture or technique for treatment as a rmt. I wanted a therapeutic massage and with muscles like mine And to get working them you need to warm the muscles up to relax and treat the muscles. As well when a client is mentioning pain (which I said multiple times / ouch and to ease up ) you need to ease back and not put pressure. She kept right in digging and going back to the same tender areas . When it was done .. I was greeted coldly by my therapist with water .. no Home care given and the receptionist was rude as the reviews said .. if I didn’t have a gc I would not of gone !

I had my eyebrows waxed here, and can't say that I walked out very happy. The gal who waxed them was very sweet and lovely to chat with. However. At the start we had discussed having full brows with just some shaping/cleaning up, and that really wasn't what I got. The eyebrows don't match in shape or length (one is SO short and skinny- I mentioned this at the end when she showed me and she acted surprised. It was too obvious to be surprising). I was then told to fill them in with eyebrow powder while waiting for them to grow back.. :( I give 2 stars because the tint was what I had asked for. So there's that.

Darryl assessed me professionally and gave me a massage that felt like he unlocked my muscles in my lower back, hips and hamstrings. The next day there was a noticeable positive difference in my symptoms. Wish I'd have gone to see him sooner.

I have been in this place twice, the RMT was great. I even recommended this place to some of my friends. We have been released from the stress. We have a common denominator why we won't come back here, the girls who are working in front were lack of customer service skills. They are not friendly and approachable as it supposed to be.

My husband called today to make an appointment for a massage for me and got Tiana on the phone. He ended up not booking an appointment and hanging up on her because she was SO RUDE to him. We’ve been coming here for years and that has stopped today. We will not be returning to this spa because of that. There are plenty of places out there that will greet you with exceptional gratitude.

The massage therapist was wonderful and very professional. The entrance to the "spa" however, was less than spa ambiance nor quality. The jug of room temp tap water was a disappointment, no lemon water, no cucumber water, nothing. I was early, being my first time there and thought I'd relax and enjoy a cup of green tea. 5 minutes before my appointment the receptionist came out with a cup of spice tea saying she had been waiting for the water to boil??? I was 40 minutes early. No choice of antioxidant green tea, in fact no choice at all. No candles, no dim lights ,no relaxing music, so I spent my time listing to mall music coming through the glass entrance and the screaming of children as they passed, along with shipping and receiving to other stores..... nothing really spa like at all (until you get to your room). No changing into white fluffy robes to relax and enjoy the experience we all look forward to when go to a spa.

Had a great experience! The spa is beautifully decorated and super clean. The staff were very kind, professional and I had a fantastic deep tissue massage. I loved that they used hot towels to clean up the massage oil afterwards so you don't go home with oily skin. Very nice touch. Highly recommend!
