Another regular haunt of mine cause it's so close to home. I do want to share a personal story about the kindness of people in the city that can take your breath away sometimes. This is true my story. I was at this particular Food Basics in line paying for my 2 items in 8 items or less line. When to my horror my debit card was declined due to lack of funds.I was shocked to see that my credit card also was declined twice. I sensed that the cashier was starting to get a little frustrated as the line was building behind me. By this point I exhausted all options and was prepared to walk away without my gingerale or head of slightly beaten up iceberg lettuce. I was quiet embarrassed by this as I had not faced this sort of thing in 30plus yrs. Then behind be a younger gentleman said" please sir allow me.." looking at the fatigued young cashier he asked her to add the $6.79 to his bill for check out. I was blown away by this a complete stranger and in Windsor. I of course protested and thanked him in for his generosity. I knew I was the last person who truely needed this kind of selfless act of kindness. None the less it made my day not for what he did but how he made me feel walking out of that grocery. I was proud of this young man and renewed my faith in the younger generation and they do know to take care of people. I can't thank you enough young man for a very nice reminder of what's really important in life. Not the money or toys but the desire to do good or positive actions for someone anytime anywhere.i didn't ask his name not offer to repay the money but I certainly will do the same for someone in a similar situation in the future. It's a memory I will always associate with this Food Basics

This plaza has a variety of stores. The food basics is clean and bright. This is a grocery store. There is a bank of Montreal, shoppers drug Mart (with postal service) a dollarama (dollar store) and Canadian Tire Store that has variety of merchandise. They do have an auto parts centre and a full service garage with a waiting area. Appointments are recommended for any work on your vehicles by a full service mechanic

Selections not as good as Goyeau location. Always seems disorganized. Though there were numerous signs stating Do Not Shuck the Corn, people were doing it and it took talking to 3 sep staff members to get them to stop it and bring out fresh stock for those who did not want the heavily manhandled stock left. The 1st too just took an oh well attitude!

Recently they got rid of cashier lanes and put in self check out which I hate. They are a pain. Plus the take jobs away and that last thing we need right now. The people there are nice. And stores usally stocked with what I need also I love having a Tim Hortons in the store.

Spacious, ample parking space, lots of stores in one place, Canadian Tire and Food Basics next to each other, Shoppers Drug Mart, eateries and restaurants around, right next to Huron Church Road, very closely situated from Ambassador Bridge to USA. The Source, Tim, Starbucks, Freshco and most eateries I mentioned are in the plaza across the road. So, very accessible from each other.

As an University of Windsor student best savings comes from food basics, i shop every Tuesday with 10% less. This mall way cheaper than freshco. I shouldn't compare with walmart bcuz it might feel like robbery. Best for students without a doubt

The parking lot. Oh lord the parking lot. In need of a major redo. Terrible condition. Navigating the parking lot isn’t ideal either, it feels cramped and leads to a busy intersection. Lots of pedestrians and potholes so drivers should drive carefully.

Freshco management has no concern that due to locking system of trolley how difficulties customers are facing on daily basis. Like me many people are not carrying any changes all time to open the trolley from lock and due to that shopping get difficulties in Freshco. Carrying onion bags and potato bags in hand busket and moving from one corner to other corner is very painful. So I hate now to go to Freshco.
