REVIEWS OF Peterborough Square IN Peterborough

I do not like the security actions on them of ?s and concerns: today I asked about dogs been in he said did the dog bite U I said no but if its a service dog then it needs a proper id like I am a service dog do not pet me etc Anyhow thats all I got to say. Today as well they did not even touch the walk ways it was nasty

Reginald Bull

This place is still like a ghost town not much has opened yet hopefully it will open more of their stores soon.

Rachyl Elliott

It's a really small mall. It's mostly composed of a food court and businesses rather than stores but there is a hair and nails place as well as a couple clothing and home decor places. The Crayola store is pretty nice though. Lots of discounts for kids projects and back to school supplies.

Vicki

Peterborough square is terrible. There is no reason to go there, unless you work in the area and want to grab a coffee while on break. Definitely don't go there to shop. EXCEPT ON SATURDAYS when the Farmer's Market is open downstairs!

Kimber Munford

Pretty dingy, strange food choices, entrance doors that claim to be "out of order"... What more can you say? It's a sketchy mall in Peterborough. Worth the visit for a stop at Curry Mantra, I literally can't think of another reason to go here.

Reviewz by Jewelz

Horrible mall! It's gone so downhill in the last 10 years! I won a $100 gift certificate to anywhere in the mall last year and I still haven't used it because there's nowhere I'd want to shop. The food court is basically just a hangout spot for the homeless and unemployed. And the shops sell overpriced junk. They need to clean this mall up and start renting to real businesses so that they bring in revenue and attract customers again. It could be a good mall that could contribute to the development of the downtown business area if it was managed properly.

K9 In Motion Wellness Peterborough

Just opened a Canine Massage and Canine Hydrotherapy pet clinic in the lower level. If your shopping or havent been back to the mall for a while there are new stores opening.

Kenton G

Stuck in 1986, genuinely falling apart. Food court leaves most everything to be desired, the select few businesses managing to stay open are overpriced and questionable for lack of a better word... At Least they figured out something to do with the previously vacant entire downstairs. (Now a library and adult education center fyi)

Crap selection and ingrate central. They almost have everything you need but not quite. I've been burnt a few times. One thinks they must have whatever but just not quite. Trade your Gold in? Sure. Need your nails done by the most uncomfortable place ever, where employees kids yell at you in strollers. Check. Maybe an unofficial Scarface throw blanket for those cold baseball games with your kids. No problem. Long Long line up at Mc D's to supply said ingrates with simple carb high fat and sugar 'food'. Ya baby!!

I had to go get my bus pass, so I went over to McDonald's for a breakfast burrito. I got a ginger cookie as well, somehow through an order snafu the young lady behind the counter gave me a second cookie. At first she removed it from the bag when she saw I already had one, but then she returned it, saying I can't serve it now anyway. It's good to know they follow that protocol. And I got a free cookie to boot.???? Life doesn't get much better.????

Mischievous Mistress

It's pretty dead... All the traffic seems to be at McDonald's. There really isn't a lot in the mall anymore, but there are still some decent stores. It's a good place to go for a small and quiet shop, manicure, or bite.

John Crossley

I enjoy shopping local, the people, the store's themselves and what they carry in stock not available elsewhere. And the idea of being a small part of keeping "LOCAl" alive and well in Peterborough

Anna Wright

Not as many stores as there used to be. Only good for a short visit, it's fairly clean but a little out of date. It's good in the mornings when there are only really elders and people on their way to work, while in the afternoons and evenings have a lot of loud people and disturbances..

Taylor Conaway

A nice little mall, in the heart of downtown. There's a small food court on the main level with lots of seating room. The bottom level opens up to more stores down most of it, as well as lots of places like dentistry, college and a call center. A good place for a quick shop or eat.

Neil Sharma

Small, no branded shops and not many retailers in the mall

Kelley Bailey

Best not so big mall in Downtown ???? Peterborough great place for shopping........

Julia

This mall is usually pretty dead. Doesn't have a lot of stores. I used to go to the bluenotes here before it closed. The coffee shop is good but the food court is meh.

Abhishek Sharma

Pretty busy. Got some good shopping done. Try @Bluenotes

Sarah Mourning

Sadly its the zombie of malls. Its been dead for years yet it remains open. Its mainly the office space that keeps it clinging to life. That and the food court. Its a cool little mall but It just has no draw.

Tony Vanderdrift

Creepy, empty mall. Not a lot of stores left, those that are there are overpriced and don't really sell anything of use. The food court is normally crowded any time of day.

Nicole Brenne

It feels like it could have been a really great mall but just doesn't have enough decent stores to anchor it. Overall it had the feel of a place you might walk through to get somewhere else and wonder the same thing about every store you pass: "how does it stay open?"

phillip grant

It's pretty sad that some adults act like children and curse and swear in from of my kids while we were in line at peterborough square at the McDonald's about some guy allegedly raping people and try to rectify it to me and can't grasp that my kids were there while they were arguing and cussing until I demanded them to take it outside and that no one's kids need to hear that. And where was security no where to be seen. And it was the security guard who tells people he is a cop which he isn't that was on duty. This place needs more professional security guards who actually care at this place.

Charlotte McDonnell

Great little weekday market on Wednesdays. Everyone is very considerate of social distancing.

Bruce Gliddon

Apparently this was the first Mall built in Peterborough. But it's still in good condition and the location is in Prime downtown. It's too bad retailers don't feel the same as the mall has lost a lot of business due to stores closing. But then again, I'm not from Peterborough so I don't fully appreciate the cities Dynamics.

Explore! Fitness and Health

Peterborough's local zombie hub. Kind of an uncomfortable place for me to hang out. Good if you want a coffee, a sub, a slice or some McDonald's. There is a great coffee shop downstairs as well as an ethnic home goods store, alterations, and now a market every Saturday! Also Galaxy Cinemas is connected underground with an elevator or stairs. Good First Aid center too. Instructor was very motivating.

Don mcgarrity

Went to the movies .only treason I.was there, not for the mall. L

David Dowden

I wish this place had more selection. Kind of a dead mall but it does have Jays gourmet coffee which is superb, and homeology which has a wonderful owner. Other than that and a good gold and silver buyer, there's no other reason I'd personally go either.

SethDedun

I remember this mall in the midst of its glory, of course we have to go back 23+years. Now it's just clining to what life it has with it's major brands on the top floor and it's theatre out back. Much like every other "Eatons Mall" the lack of brains running them couldn't understand that reducing rent to get buusinesses to stay, or come, was far better than collecting no rent. It's truly a shame to be honest, I had a lot of good memories in this place as a youngster.

H. Foster

I commend the businesses trying to help out Peterborough's downtown. The restaurants are wonderful and the shopping is good. Peterborough does need to humanely and empathetically deal with our homeless population. Some cities are trying "tiny houses" and others are working hard to employ the homeless. I don't have the answer to this difficult issue, but I can recognize that something needs to be done. They need a "hand up as opposed to a hand out."

Cameron Godfrey

A great and nice place very beautiful and small aswell

Tyler Wilson

That mall died since mc ds is gone

Jacob Currier

Great late night Mexican food. Good spot after a night out Open late and friendly staff

Shannon Miller

Its completely run down. The food court is the only decent space left. I would not bring kids here, it's rather rough and doesn't attract the right crowd. If you plan on shopping, there is basically no stores. If you want to eat, I would recommend sitting outside rather than in.

Rahul Thakur

Nice place to hang out and dine. It has lots of restaurants in there with curry mantra being best. Loved the place.

E.R Godfrey

Really stretching it by calling it a shopping mall. It could be a mall if it was in a town with population under 100 lol.

Daniel Morris

Peterborough square offers a variety of restaurants such as Subway and McDonald's. There is also a bank, craft and home stores, a coffee shop and the city library (temporary). The mall itself is old, the washroom sinks are often covered in water, and the hand dryers arent great.

Franklin Fader

I started going there in 1976 when they first opened up.I was in Public School. Very different to the area then. Now it seems that the only reason for going there is two buy drugs and have a place to stay for as long as you stay far away from the staff. Then you had all time you wanted me it seems like every one has given up on the downtown. Very different from 1996 what a shame.

Christopher Michael Spain

A nice cozy little mall with a big feel. I wish more stores were occupied though. Apparently no photography is allowed inside based on a 25 year old contract. Which means that the stores inside are suffering. So it's no wonder half the shops are vacant.

Ayush Laroia

Very nice restaurants located here and a good place for walking and exploring the town.

Melissa Best

Now new laws can't eat or drink in theaters and have to where masks all time no longer fun at the theater! Was becoming okay until this week!

Michelle Lent

Good place to go when it's open right now it's not too cool wish they would open McDonald's people can't get that close to them tonight's place to go to get a coffee or a meal for the kids and close to where we live but since covid they call McDonald's close it down and now we have no way to take the kids to McDonald's

Megz

Kind of run down. Food court seems to be the only thing keeping the mall alive. Nice restaurants here, and fast food is what you'd expect, but nothing really that makes this place stand out. It would be great if the city would inject some more effort into revitalizing the mall. That said, the Greek restaurant is really good, TD is convenient, and the Crayola surplus store downstairs is a must-see.

Danny McGrath

While it may not be the fanciest mall in the world, it does have a nice food court, and the downtown location is rather central to the town. Has a McDonald's and a great pizza shop in the food court in the upper level.

Cathy Henry

Peterborough Square is not what it used to be. Other than the food court and a few stores, there's not a great deal of retail options here. The majority of the building is now offices.

zax the reds

Love the downtown mall but inside.. their losing it. Businesses closeing or moving. Heck I liked the library better here than where its at. TD is goin..Mcdee' gone..Mars music aguano. Its all sad..and seems to have no end in sight. Lower the rents/leases.

Steven

Grew up in Peterborough and I remember the mall when it had, well, people. I could go on and on about why this mall failed but the sad truth is, the company that owns it has an overinflated ego with a desire to overcharge rent. They drove every good store out of the mall due to how much it cost, realized their mistake and then proceeded to undercharge for rent to stay afloat. So for a while, there were strange stores with extremely shady, knock-off products and stolen goods. They then cracked down on those stores and now there's literally nothing left. All they need to do is encourage a small department store to set up shop, alongside a dollar store and they'd have people again. But they want to be ~modern~ and ~chic~ so they keep hoping some popular fashion store'll open up bizz. It's pretty pathetic.

Phil Fox

The mall is old, and in need of updates and repairs. Most of the mall is occupied by healthcare and education services. There is a farmer's market which operate there last winter, not sure if it will be there this year.

AD FOB

I lived/worked downtown for a long period of time, and eating the same 3 things from the food court was hellish. The pizza is 83% flour, the McDonald's runs slower than gimp sloth, and the Chinese food is mostly sesame oil. Truly you come here to people watch. Dude who has full body/face tattoos, the group of bums always by the gumball train, and the myriad of people of their myriad of drugs out by the statues are lots of fun. Real life lesson for the kids too. Generally I would give this place a better score than 2 stars if it was still 1998 and this mall was still relevant.

Douglas Hamilton

Took advantage of reduced price massages at the Oxford College site in the lower level. Hard to get an appointment (longish wait time) but worth the wait. Friendly, knowledgeable people.

Penelope Robinson

Almost nothing open, mostly homeless hanging out trying to keep warm. The powers that be took away one of the only places the homeless could afford to eat at. Now that McDonald's is gone..what can I say Peterborough Square will close pretty soon as well

Maria M

Not respecting medical mask exemptions. Security are wannabe cop bullies that don't respect the law in anyway. Will never shop there again.

Marianne Olajos

Still a great place!

John

The upstairs section with the food court still sees some activity, but once you go downstairs it feels like you have ended up in a ghost town. Most of the stores are empty and there are almost no people around. I felt like I ended up in a horror movie where the protagonist has to figure out what happened to all the people, only to find out they all met some grizzly fate and that whatever malicious presence dwells down there will take you out next. This place is a living nightmare.

elaine power

Closed but bathrooms were open and Macdonslds went to farmers market was outside nice and busy and lots of great goods

James Paxton

Not safe. Little caution for slippery floors and accident prevention. I'm out of work for three weeks due to their negligence, and on the same weekend I was injured there, I heard several others were as well.

Shanaqua Lawrence

It's okay there are some food places and a dollar store a clothing store and convenience store and a couple other little store's. But you have to find mall security just to use the change room for your baby. Because of people doing drug's in there????????

Etta Ferguson

A lot of good stores

Mary Larose

Didnt want to put even one star.....DISGUSTING illegal enforcement / service refusal of exempt mask customer.....won't shop there anymore....learn the rules .....there are needed exceptions to wearing masks.

Grandad Beckett

Not very good stores for most shoppers.

Taylor

Very empty. Hardly any stores, the only good store being bluebotes. The food court is okay, but it's often filled with loitering people. Surprisingly, the mall is always kept very clean. The library that was just added is the biggest addition in a while, and the only part of the Mall I enjoy.

Eyitayo Aloh

A sociable mall to help cope with Covid. The Chinese food is also amazing

Rye Macdougall

More and more places closing up shop to the point that it's going to end up closed

Maria D.

Easy walkabout for general every day purchases and gifts, with a small food court.

Nicole McAllister

It was disgusting! Even before i opened the door to go inside. There was garbage laying around outside, the doors were gross(food, slimy stuff on it) and the windows were broken and taped so be careful that you dont cut yourselves or put your hand/arm threw it! Washrooms were even more gross! I did NOT use them! Most of the store employees were ignorant like i was bothering them. Dont worry it wont happen again! The only help i had gotten was from a young man that works at McDonalds. I believe he is a manager! My phn was dead, didnt have change for pay phn and all i needed was a taxi. Of course there were no complementary phns where i could call taxi co. directly. Koodos to the employee at McDonalds for your help that took a whole 5mins(if that) of his time. I was visiting from out of town, it was really cold that evening so needless to say it would have been a very cold walk back to where my accommodations were. Ty again McDonalds manager whom was working that night!

Cheryl Lockyer

Small mall , Great place to eat just about anything. The Curry Mantra is the best place to eat so much to choose from and everything I have tryed is so good, can't get enough.

money wolfpack

Worst mall in town this has to be the most drug ridden place with more drug addicts and deals going on then any other place in town. Do not go to Peterborough square unless it's for McDonald or subway and leaving straight away

anne allison

We went to visit Santa Claus, he was very jolly & friendly

The Yogic Programmer

One of the staples of Peterborough. A little bit of something for everyone. Least worth checking it out one time!

Andrea Clarke

I don't find Peterborough Square to be too bad although...if you are wanting a proper mall experience...this isn't it. But you will find a few cute little places to visit and the food court has an amazing Indian foid joint there.

David Lavery

Don't waste your time here if you are looking to shop. Dead mall. Only interesting if you want to research how previous governments tried to revitalize downtown areas in the 70's

Torrie Warner

Indoor Farmer's market is great. I go also every Saturday.

Nicole Juffs

Not your average mall. Okay variety of stores. Amazing Crayola store on the lower level with very good deals. This mall provides access to the movie theatre. Heated underground pay parking available. Library has moved out of this mall.

Mike Finan

Smaller sized covered mall includes Cineplex theatres, underground parking, plus it connects to the trendy Market Hall performing Arts venue.

Norman de Bellefeuille

Practical design, easy to navigate. The food court is well lite with natural light. The Loblaws superstore is massive, about the size of a Costco.

Danielle Dmuchowski

Relatively clean. Very limited options in terms of food and shops. Includes McDonalds, Mr.Sub, and a pizza place. Shops include bluenotes downstairs, some convenience stores, a phone case shop, jewelery appraiser, TD bank (full-service + machines), an art store, and a furniture store. There is a location downstairs to do CPR/First Aid training through St. John's ambulance. The cafe downstairs does have an excellent chai latte; worth going down there for just that. Sandwiches are overpriced however.

Tammy Foster

There is not many stores and too many people just hanging out. The handicap/family washroom has a needle bin that is super full. Yea its better than having it mY around but not nice to explain to your small children when all you wanted to do was go pee. The dollar store lady was really great could tell I was having a hard day and have my kids balloons for free while we bought chalk. I still love Peterborough but this mall is wasted space

Larry Loyst

McDonald's always friendly staff great service. Most McDonald's I truly avoid because of their poor service and overall careless attitude with their products. Kudos to the staff at this location, never a mistake with whatever I order. ????

jineen des vignes

Please save us all from the worst mall music.

me you

THEY NEED NEW MANAGEMENT DESPERATELY..... YOU GO IN THERE IN THE EVENING TO PICK UP FOOD AND YOU ALMOST DIE OF HEAT STROKE CUZ I GUESS WHOEVER RUNS THAT PLACE TURNS IT OFF WHENEVER HE OR SHE LEAVES FOR THE DAY... EXTREMELY WELFARE
