REVIEWS OF River Market IN New Westminster

Romana G

A great place to get some food (the best fried chicken burger ever is at Re-up bbq) , buy something at the City Avenue store, sit by the river, get some flowers, coffee, buy some tea or a gift. Cute little market for sure.

Coruja Búho

Kind of like Choice's and Whole Foods but smaller. Good selection of heathier products and junk food for a balanced diet.

Barry S. Boivin

Nice place for sure but sadly its just a shadow of what it was 10 years ago. So Sad really because it is a spectacular setting. Since the Expo Line opened downtown New West has always been a seedy place and always will be. You don't want to be anywhere around here after 9 PM. Too many drawns for free food and lodging nearby which frees up a lot of drug money and ways to spend it.

Noel

I love this spot! There are a lot of interesting and unique shops there. Potteryworks is a favourite of mine as it belongs to a nonprofit organization that helps people with disabilities explore their creative side through painting drawings and more! There is a fantastic furniture shop in there but the name slips my mind at the moment but it has a lot of unique pieces available that you may not necessarily find anywhere else. For food, there is Wally's and their breakfast sandwiches are the bomb!

Andrea Verhoef

This is a fun place to visit, especially with little kids as there is a circus school upstairs that is excellent (lots of padding)! They also have a place to do pottery as well as a knitting store upstairs, that I have yet to see open, but it's there. I like that once you are done outside, you can take the kids outside to run around and play.. rain or shine the kids always seem to have fun here, playing in the old tug boat outside or running around. There is very easy access to the skytrain if you are going that route or there is paid parking as well, but make sure to pay as they do ticket here!

Oren Weiss

It's a nice medium-sized market , worth visiting. On the way in from the top floor you get a lot of info about New Westminster while walking. I liked the desserts shops and the big variety of products on Donald's Market. It's worth a visit.

E. MAY Elford

Best place to go for coffee, gelato, lunch, breakfast and shopping local artists. Super convenient with 30 mins free parking. Lots of events on the weekends.

John K

It used to be dead a few years ago but since the renovation in the complex and new condos built around the area, it's been booming ever since. There are multiple decent restaurants inside and also sort of food court area for you to try. Donald's market is also great quality grocery market. Only downside will be because of the construction/tourists, parking is issue on weekends/holidays. If you go on weekdays after work, you can chill in waterfront patio.

Estefania Pat

I liked this Market very much. Nice places to stop by and grab something to eat.

Chris U

Riverfront location with some interesting shops, including an antique furniture store, a BBQ joint, a burger place and a Thai restaurant amongst the few. If driving in, it is pay parking. It's about a couple min walk to new west skytrain station and bus loop

Jason York (Jork21)

Busy little mall by the river... Has a food court (coffee, tea, bbq, Mexican, bakery, ice cream, Thai, rotisserie chicken), liquor store, supermarket, mid century modern furniture, and a circus school. Nice place to chill.

Matt Lazzarotto

We came here quite a bit when I was a kid, so there are plenty of old memories stored away. The City of New Westminster has done a great job revitalizing this beauty. Go for a visit!

When you get off the SkyTrain the River Market is just THERE. If you're new to New Westminster it's a great place to start. Beautiful view, lots of information and good food.

Heather Rexin

Lots of products to choose from. Love the selection of organic and fresh foods that are available here. Great food at the Paddle Wheel Pub!!

Adrian Quiroz

I really like the market but I wish it was open more hours.

vickie gould

We have been visiting New West for around 2 years now. My partner and I finally decided to stop in and check out the River Market. To be honest we were disappointed. The stores were over priced and underwhelming. On the top floor they have the Vancouver Circus school that is not accessible to the public. Overall it seems small for what it could be.

Marsh

Take your time if there are some folks fishing. Saw this one fellow catch a sturgeon about six feet long and he almost got it to the shore and it just made this sweet roll and was gone.Great for bird watching saw my first Kingfisher on the railing! Very sad to see the Tug Boat going west. Whom ever was the brain about making this park could teach the city of Burnaby what to do with a shoreline. Little kids love tug boats! Lots on the river and parked at the Quay. This is Halifax west!!

Glenn Wood

I love this place. Its got a ton of great little bistros and restaraunts, a grocery store, and some cool shops. Its the centre of a lot of community events in New West and is set in a great location. An awesome place to get a bite while walking by the river or to check out pop up markets and other events.

Jason H

Still has that farmers market feel but with no huge crowds. Went around 12-5 and it was relatively sparse. People aren't masking up as much as they should which isn't great but they still socially distance. All employees are masked and follow sanitation rules. Went to Re-Up today and it was great because the entire food court became immaculately clean as a result of less customers (less.. publicly drunken fools as well) Follow the rules of the park and you'll be fine. Still a great place and has improved since last time.

Andreas Grunewald

The Rivermarket is a great destination, the food vendors are diverse and offer a great variety of tasty options. It's great to have Donald's Market there as well as the Circus School. You can also check out weekly events and you can also sit down at the Wild Rice restaurant after a stroll along the New Westminster Quay.

Bryan Kent

Solid market with a really nice esplanade to walk on a sunny day. Great food options on offer as well.

An D

It was really near the New West Station and has bunch of good foods over there. Mostly artisans and organic foods.

D -

Great spot on the river. Watch tugs, seal and logs float down the Muddy Fraser. Good eats and treats. Take a walk on the boardwalk. Can definatly spend a few hours. Parking can be a bit of a pain. Free Motercycle parking in the lot down by the Pub. If your a local, good place to walk down to in the morning for coffee.

Ed

A nice complex with a good grocery store and variety of restaurants. This place does get pretty pack during lunch hours from the students and officer workers. On occasions they host weekend markets on the second floor.

Irene Alvarez

The best place for gluten-free and vegan products with a large amount of natural products, vitamins, magnesium and mushrooms.

Jessica Trottier

Great little shops good boardwalk stroll must check out the Paddle Wheeler for drinks on there beautiful patio.

Rnold Smith

Years ago I thought the River market was a bit sketchy. Not anymore. I have been to several great events there like Pecha Kucha New West, Free yoga, and recently a kids swap meet. I always pick up some tea at the great wall tea company and I love the brisket poutine at re-up bbq.

Jennifer Hughes

I love the River Market! Good food, especially Wild Rice and Longtail. Clean, lots to do, great for kids, beautiful view of the river. So happy this whole area has been revitalized!

lorna riddell

Great spot to grab coffee and a cookie or lunch. The views of the river are awesome. The boardwalk is a nice place for a stroll.

Alan Major

Speciality food combine with a experience cook a perfect combination

Justin Y Bailey

Great area to walk around and relax by the water. A good variety of stores and some pretty popular board game meetups pre-covid.

Lori Golden

With covid not everything was open as expected. Great location

solome okolong

It's a good place to hangout with family and friends. There are so many fun things to do like making your own soap, pottery and other activities. Great specialty Dining options. For instance there's a plant-based restaurant. There's the Vancouver circus school there as well. A bit on the pricey side but I suppose that's to expected

Natasha Leibel

closes at a different time than posted (6:15 on weekdays) other than that I love the little niche stores and places to eat there.

Jim Quitevis

I love this place. It has good local restaurants and places for kids to play. Their programs are nice too and the fact that it is beside the fraser river makes it a good stop after a long walk around the quay.

Casey Quesnelle

It's always so beautiful when I come down here. We initially came to go on the Riverboat tour and it was great walking around. It's always so peaceful and a good decent length for a walk. It's amazing on the weekends when vendors come here and you can see what they have all created and are selling. Definitely recommend to come and check it out

Eddy _

On advise of a co worker, we decided to try a Thai restaurant, Longtail Kitchen in River Market. We had to wait for service as staff were busy. We ordered two dishes, the Chinese sausage fried rice and chicken Pad Thai. Both dishes were really tasty. Recommended

Elise Weatherby

Love coming here for an ice cream or a lunch! Great places to eat and drink nice place to attend events.

Rosie F

This place is great. They have added way more parking now. The only reason its 4 and not 5 stars is because the shops keep changing. I'm not sure if that's because rent is too high or business arent as successful, but generally stores selling goods here are more expensive than normal. Highlights include the chocolate stand, ninja bubble tea, great wall of tea. They have food as well. I do miss freebird chicken though. They closed recently and they had the best fried chicken. :(

J C

Great shops, good food. Nice boardwalk along the river. Donald's is great. Kids area upstairs.

ken rosadiuk

Plenty of food, tea, gift shops options during the day, pubs for the evening, and always a weekend craft/market. My favourite place in the Quay is Donald's Market.

Summer Gilbert

I love this place. There is a donalds market which is amazing. A cute bakery. I always buy a loaf of bread or some croissants. Its a nice little outing for the family.

Naomi Cao

Best spot for taking a break after nice walk along the river. Convenient in terms of commut as it's close to the parking lot and new Westminster skytrain station. The place is pretty new and clean. More food options would be nice.

Henry Stuive

Great place to walk along the water. Lots of flowers and plants to go with the seasons. Wide walkways so it does not feel crowded. Places to eat and shop in the market. Even a circus school. Great to see the tug boats on a sunny day. Well worth exploring

Salim H

Great little public market . Nice views of the water and a nice mix of restaurants and shops.

Melody Monro

The market has come back to life! Some nice shops, lots of people around but not crowded!

James Ferris

For a place to stop for tea and pastries, or many interesting restaurant experiences, or just find that uniquely unusual grocery item, can't beat the Quay and the River Market. Plus the waterfront walks! Always fun!

Craig Reichel

Lovely place with several shops, restaurants, and other services. Finding parking is often a challenge. The boardwalk is beautiful and many of the restaurants have outdoor seating.

Daniel Cook

Solid bbq.....only counter service, and no seating in the quay, so it's a little less convenient if you don't live close at hand.

More Memorable Events

Small but interesting market with independent businesses and good food vendors. Beautiful views of the Fraser River and convenient access make for a fun visit for people of all ages.

matthew lydynuik

Cute little market to walk through in new west. Not a ton of stores but worth walking through if your down on the quay. Few places to get food. Great way to get out of the heat/rain.

Michelle Rivera

A stroll or jog next to the river is always nice. We went to a few shops and restaurants there. It wasnt crowded when we went and it felt very safe. We are from Portland, OR so it was also fun to people watch as it is more diverse.

Therese Mah

Good community space, shops, restaurants near a scenic riverside boardwalk. Public washrooms available, table space for board games available. Only drawback is that they close relatively early.

Timothy Hung

A phenomenal place to hang and have a bite, the downside is it’s hours of operation. Please update your closing time as it is way too early. Which food court closes at 6pm on a Friday? The River Market is such a unique place with wonderful atmosphere, it’s quite a pitty.

Stephanie Michelle (Clark)

Nice place for a walk, good food, nice new play areas. Parking is a mess with all the construction so hopefully that ends soon. It's a shame they're building on the old parking lot because we've lost so much parking.

Rick Windsor

Lots of people. Good ice cream. Bikes moving fast. Hold onto your kids! Also, something around here smells fishy.

Karina Daukaeva

I love that their focus is on the local one-of-a-kind food and stores. It's always nice and clean and food is delicious. There are lots of things going on so make sure to check their board of events and vendors.

Camila Tavares

Great location to go with friends and family. Has a grocery store, Donald's Market, a few restaurants, cafe, some stores and a Pub.

Henrique Tavares

I like to go there because is the best place to get good incense sticks a part of regular things from supermarkets. Als there is more options gro Kraft and organic foods. Prices could be slightly better overall.

Alexander Cattalani

I love this place. This is the best place to find local flavor in new west. The bakery inside is out of this world. There is a Donalds market here that sells local made insence. Make sure to check the board for events and free workshops happening around town. River Market is full of local shops that will have you coming back again and again.

Darren Wou

though it isn't the quay of old, this is still a nice place to visit and grab a bite to eat and one of the high quality eateries.

Beingmeloo

Very nice location to go out n check out if you are new in the area. I have used this market for some of my photography sessions. Wide range of aesthetics you could use here. I have left some of my photo work below.

Rod&Debbie Reid

We were there on such a lovely day. We had time to consider the many different food options and just wander around the other vendors. We settled on Pamola for our lunch and really enjoyed it.

Roxy Urbi

Noce location delicious restaurant's inside of the market

Glorianne Chinn

Shine Bright Festival with friends brought us in to browse and shop. Enjoyed the shops and friendly vendors.

Jessica Ceron Mondragon

Always a pleasure to visit this place!

Andrew

Excellent community market. It is a converted riverside warehouse market. This is an excellent family location for those with small kids. There are various family friendly events that are held throughout the year put on by various vendors. Good cross section of artisan food vendors. Situated right on the New Westminster Quay boardwalk.

Ian Su

Wonderful place to take your family for a walk with beautiful views and affordable lunch on the weekend. There are many free parking on the Quayside Dr and walk toward the market, enjoy the beautiful view. Kids friendly environment. Many choices of food.

Glenn Redbear

The offerings of products and services are limited however improved from the past

Anna Almonte

Beautiful family-friendly hub spot for a snack or lunch. A lot of activities to do and local buys to find. Was a bit hesitant about Tre Galli Gelato Caffe's panini and pizzas, however I was left so impressed--I would definitely come back everyday for lunch if I could. Nothing, but quality foods and activities at the River Market. Just watch out for the pigeons walking around--they're harmless, but they're not afraid to walk under the tables near your feet.

Karel S

Great place to go on a Saturday or Sunday morning to midday. Fresh coffee, breads, cinnamon buns.mmmm.. Then seafood lunch and a good lager rounds off this day. Now to go home and do the chores. Or maybe a nap.

Haley Stich

It's a really great little market. Lots of fun food places to go try, and nice stores. They have monthly craft event for you and the kids only downfall is I wish there was more market type stands there (like meat, cheese, fruit and vegetable stands, etc) like a traditional market would have. There is a Donald's however it's not quite the same!

Greg Domville

Just copy Grandville island or Lonsdale Quay and you will have a great place. This is just a weird layout, weak tenant, poor parking place. I so wish it had more as the location is epic and new West could kill it having a great open market type market

Stephen Carl O'Shea

I'm often in downtown New Westminster just hanging out and I find myself again and again going to River Market for food, entertainment, something to do. This place is full of activity and friendly people. I'm a fan of the things I can find at Craft Cafe, all the beautiful furniture at Mid Century Modern, and the mini croissants at Pamola Bakery. Would recommend this place to anyone!

Thomas Canty

I use the networking hub space which is a great deal for the money. It is a conducive work space and allows for a pleasant working environment

Gaye Kinneard

More for eating than shopping. The Market is basically a grocery store but there are various eateries where you can sit in the sun on a patio and enjoy the view. There is also a paddlewheeler which does harbour tours in season. In front of the market is the world's biggest tin soldier, according to the Guinness Book of Records!

Dave Sands

Great space to visit on a sunny Spring or Summer day. Excellent for families, always lots going on and plenty of food choices. I love the atmosphere alongside the Fraser River.

Garnet Ryder (VE7GNR)

Donald's Market is great. Lots of other yummy food and vendors selling interesting stuff. Good place to get ice cream or coffee and just relax/walk the boardwalk.

Becky, Raelee Stacey

Well it was a couple years ago that I actually went in and did some shopping there...but it had a fun atmosphere too it

Mo Cons

Very cool place to shop, did not know they have a Donald's market here, love it. Not many other shops but a cool place to check out as it is on the banks of the Fraser River. Lovely views!

Luisa Ramirez

Love the little stores and crafts that you can find here as well as the restaurants inside the building. View to the river is nice. I love going for a walk and them enjoying coffe or ice cream in the outside benches. I just don't like that expensive pay parking part, I am already going to the Market to expend my money or shopping. Why should I pay more for giving you bussiness.

Jordan eh'

Great mall. Not a real market. Not even a fresh fish stall. But definitely worth a visit for the gelato or Mexican food. The river front is really nice.

Sean Thomson

I go to the River Market all the time for walks, coffee and shopping. Love this place. The river view is awesome and during the winter it is very quiet during the week.

Natasha Alderdice

This place is not what it used to be. They have gone corporate, most of the upstairs is offices and the open air market is completely gone. Such a shame. Nice location and the food is good, but so not a riverside market anymore compared to what ot used to be. So disappointed.

Alex Martins

Nice products, nice price and good localization!

Jennifer Logan-Manzer

I live in New Westminster, and love the Quayside - lots of little local shops and merchants #ShopLocal #SupportCommunity - also a nice little pub / bistro for light snacks / refreshments. Oh yes and the paddle wheeler - cruise down Fraser River.

P B

wonderful market to browse on a weekend while enjoying a coffee or other beverage. There are various shops here, many of them artisan, and restaurants to choose from. We would often get an ice cream and find a nice place outside to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.

Voyager [*]

Great place to grab quick lunch, ice-cream, or drink coffee relax with family or friends.

Devious Fuzz

Awesome little area to shop and visit along the docks. New Westminster has improved immensely in the recent years and markets like this as well the overhaul of New Westminster station make a very inviting town. River market has excellent shopping for healthy and organic food, interesting restaurants small and large, and a fantastic bakery selling Mexican treats. Hard not to fall in love with this beautiful strip showcasing what New West has to offer.

Alexandra Laviolette

Tre Galli has the best gelato! Highly recommend going for a walk on the Quay and stopping for a cone !

LANMonkey GC

Great selection of shopping very conveniently located. Can be very busy at peak seasons/days so be prepared for crowds and queues, but quality of product is top notch.

Kevin Gordon

Love this local market. Great food/drink options as well as the matket

Bill B

There are some neat shops inside as well as some take out and coffee places. There is also an artisinal chocolate booth and a board games store.

Erin Terry

Interesting little market, it has a lot of little bit of everything. We always stop here for ice cream, be prepared the lines can get busy during warm days.

Bill Hendricks

I wouldn't classify this as a great shopping destination. Very basic. Definitely a great spot for food though!!

Wesley Hartford

A good public market. The BBQ place has great fried chicken. There is a nice open area upstairs with takes and chairs and often a handful of people playing board games. There really needs to be a good butcher though.

Alicia-Marie Simpson

It's beautiful views of the Fraser River.

Jarell Alvarez

Love coming here every weekend. I live close by and it's awesome to see a small market that has nearly everything I want. I would love to see more pop up shops or somehow expand the market but for now it's a great alternative to Granville Island.

Gordon Sjodin

River market could be a really great hub. The grocery store is excellent but the other shops are lacking.

Simon Fox

I really like the river market. It adds a lot of character to the New West Quay. It has host of great restaurants, a pub and liquor store, a small supermarket, furniture shops, boutique store vendors, an awesome place to but tea, and a circus school! There is quite a bit more but you get it.. :)

Octavio Rodriguez

The River Market's location couldn't be better: within walking distance, and right across the New Westminster Skytrain station (Expo Line), making it a convenient stop for your grocery shopping. Also, an option if you want to pick up something to eat/drink while walking the area and taking the views of the Fraser River. The supermarket has a very wide selection of products in their different departments. Not a lot space in between aisles, but this is understandable when you have to maximize what you have available. Their perishables are fresh, and overall their prices are competitive. Pay them a visit and check them out yourself. You will not be disappointed.

Dan Ehresman

Love going down there....went the Paddle Wheeler Pub for lunch as well...which was outstanding, great patio with the river right there. Nice area to go for a walk as well. Check it out.

Sugoi Harris

This is a neat place. Its got a wide variety of indoor shops. The Great Wall of Tea has delicious and unique flavors, the gelato place is amazing and has a wide variety of flavors, and there is even a circus school for the kids. Its a great place to grab some food while enjoying the boardwalk.

John Kurz

We went to meet an old friend, his suggestion! Went to Re-up and they had NO food! Cruised the Food Court for about a half hour and decided on the Mexican Style Bakery for a Brunch. Tamara ordered the Soft Taco Combo, I ordered the Tamale Combo our friend settled for a Coffee and Chocolate Croissant. Our friends meal was fine, thank goodness for that! Both Tamara's and my meals were horrid! Served cold with poor products! No service whatsoever told to make our own! They still charged full Restraunt prices, served on paper plates with, go find it yourself plastic forks and no serviettes. This Quay is still the Fleamarket experience! We've dumped the Boathouse because because of several bad dining experiences! River Market is a disrespectful representation of what it was meant to be! Either put back the true market and make it a venue for the full time Farmer's Market or turn it into another Cote Condo! Either way, it's unlikely that we will not return for anything. So disappointed! There's nothing here! And what is actually available is overpriced and not a pleasant experience. Stay away from anything but the Vintage Furniture store and the Paddlewheeler Pub!

G Gill

there are incredible walks along the Fraser River for people to enjoy some also go into the neighbourhoods really lovely gardens; hanging plants along all of the boardwalk that are planted by the city of new Westminster

100 Braidst Studios

As the owner of the the Studio and a member of the Business Collaboration Network I just want to say that we received amazing support from River Market staff for our recent event. Alice helped us set up the space with audio and visual equipment and shared with us options for effective floor plans. The extra help took the stress off of us as organizers. If you are looking for a space to hold an event you’ll be on good hands here.

Emily Stelkar

Really fun for a family day trip! I went here with my family not too long ago and I would definitely go again! The shops have a really nice aesthetic to them and although it’s small, the lovely scenery makes up for it! I highly recommend coming here!

Marcin Tandecki

Nice market located right by the water. There's lots of little shops to eat drink and shop. Parking can get very busy especially during busy times.

Richard Mah

The exterior is a bit empty and drab. The interior is all grey and concrete. Shops are very nice, though.

Kenny BRYSON

Always been a great place to go since I was a little kid. I love it when they have fairs going on such as the vinyl fair. Food court is small but awesome food and you cant beat the amazing view of the Mighty Fraser River.

Kitty Lau

Great little market in an unexpected location. Good variety of quality food and drink! Great way to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon

Shantala Robinson

It's community oriented and quite small. But the food selection is always improving. Great kids bookstore!

Olga Brio

I love this place! So many good choices: organic, vegan, kids friendly...a lot of brands that you wouldn't find in other local stores. However, the fruits and vegetables are usually not so fresh. I wish the could fix it. Otherwise, great grocery store.

FilmBizDude

It's not much of a market anymore but I went to the Paddlewheeler for lunch: They have great burgers but not a fan of their chipotle dip for the yam fries, too much lime flavor.

Alison Mclean

I love the quay in New West, lots of nice and quirky/quaint locally made things. It's also beautiful for a quick stroll by the river. There's also a Donald's Market there, one for my favorite stores for organic and local produce and non GMO and fair trade products.

Shanny Rann

Love their international food court.

Alex May

Love this place! Grab a cub of tea from the Great Tea Wall (huge selection) and enjoy the views. Check out the circus school and pinball machine upstairs. Also consider taking a short scenic boat ride across to Queensborough ($2 tickets, available at the soap shop).

Fred Wang

Nice place to walk around in the evening.

Bryan Price

Still incomplete from an experience point of view. Nice view of Fraser River ; nice variety of food; some cool vendors. Watch you don't get caught by the train transiting the area.

Jana Penner

Nice place to pick up some local baked goods or produce. Local vendors. Great place.

Shameer P

Good place to walk around and take pictures. Grab an ice cream or coffee and go for a stroll. Food court is growing with some tasty options. Free parking is extremely limited, you're likely going to have to pay.

Jon Y

Excellent little food court. Favorite are the thai place and the BBQ place. Great quality food to satisfy all your foodie needs. You can also get great groceries at donalds market.

George Davis

Theres is a gelato shop that has great coffeeB! The gelato is probably good too but I had no intention of have a desert for lunch. It is my understanding that The sandwich shop across the way isn't allowed to have hot coffee because the gelato shop is apparently afraid anyone selling a cup of coffee will destroy their business and they have exclusive rights to sell hothcoffee in the market. Which is stupid. the sandwich shop has great sandwiches. I had wanted to buy a hot coffee with my sandwich. it felt forced and wrong that I had to wander over to a gelato shop I had no intention of shopping at in order to get hot coffee. Like a monopoly I just hate the principal of it. I would like to encourage the gelato shop to stop enforcing their lord ship over the coffee monopoly and instead show a little confidence. Left a 5 star review because the customer service at both establishments was good

Puneet Thiara

Great place for a stroll with your dog on a nice sunny day. Lots of parking. Has a lot of restaurants in the area to check out as well.

Doc Jones78

It's ok if you want a quick lunch. Not enough variety of shops, nothing interesting in the way of souvenirs,in and out within 20 minutes. Pretty boring, but the view outside and around the area is nice.

Carrie Bryant

The River Market area is cute, cozy and very peaceful. It has about 10 restaurant options and a small market place. Fun stuff for kiddos too.

Kathleen Espiritu

They have a Donald's market with locally sourced items (the commercial drive location is better for fresh produce becuase they have a better turn over). Lots of great restaurants inside. I highly recommend Wild Rice for sit down dining. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options

Ace

Dope mall. Clean bathrooms, solid food court options, nice grocery shop and close to transit. Raincity Games is the #1 shop inside!

Sandy Esworthy

It is so nice to walk about in this area. They have a half a dozen really good food places that make this our go to food location for lunch. So nice in summer when you can sit outside but plenty of indoor seating for those rainy days too.

Darina G

My family and I have been shopping here for a over a decade, due to unfortunate circumstance we will be no longer be supporting this establishment. You should be ashamed on how badly you treated my mother over accidentally breaking a product off the shelf! AND because she failed to produce ID while out walking the dog you treated her like as she was criminal. Threatened to call the cops and take action over something that is covered under your shrinkage and the cost of doing business.

Hal Tang

The small local artisan market. Cool plant, furniture and Art Cafe. Quick bite at Free Bird Fried Chicken and gelato on a hot summer day. Mildly pleasant.

Dana Westermark

We went for dinner at Amaranthus. Excellent vegetarian food. Even I, who is most certainly not a vegetarian, thought the food was terrific. They have done a great job of dividing the restaurant from the general food court. The service was outstanding. Rick, the host, is a attentive and knowledgeable server.

Becky Butz

So many food and fun little stores with a cool tea shop take it sit on the dock and look out on the Fraser River. Beautiful

Chrissy singh

Such a awesome place to check out, lots of great food options, unique lil shops with lots of natural homemade skin care products. And a great place for the lil ones to come and check out. Check out the vancouver circus school inside or donalds market with lots of vegan alternatives.

Carmen Gradinaru

I loved going to New Westminster River Market. You can dine shopp and have a stroll enjoying the view of the river and you can take the boat all is affordable including the parking that is why i want to give 4 stars because it is a place where yiu can have a wonderful day with a small budget

Randy DeCoine

I enjoyed River Market... Had the opportunity to get a chance to see all of the beautiful woman who were through out the market... glad to have the opportunity to meet you..you're all beautiful.

Jordon Hope

Unique experience, being on the boardwalk with arguably the best food court in all of Vancouver. High-end food from every vendor, you will not be disappointed.

Allan Jensen

One of the nicest places for a walk in the city. Shops are few, but unique. Suffered a bit under Covid.

Dan9693

Great munch reasonably priced.

A Q

Good inventory - fresh produce Some items are a bit pricy, relatively speaking

Colin Sushiboy

I like the scenery. But didn't like the restaurants and food stands there. Much better in North Van Quay. Not sure when I'll be back. Better places out there. Even Granville Island is better.

John Mullock

Nice small market store. Well supplied

Wade Murray

Small but has some unique and interesting vendors. Food vendors seem to be environmentaly aware. Different events on some weekends.

Gina Grape

Nice place to go to after a stroll along the waterfront. Grab some baked goods from the bakeshop, sit and relax in the eating area. Then grab some produce from the market before you head home.

HYUN SOO HAN

Good place and lots of oraganic things cheaper than any other store.

Carol Price

Great, but of course expensive, store. Lovely selection of specialty goods in most sections to treat yourself. Friendly and accommodating staff.

The river market is a great place to come with family, kids, friends, partners, grandparents, as long as they can walk along the quay! The walk is not very long, and very pretty along the water. There is a huge tin man to see, and a small boat playground for kids, as well as another playgrorud further down by the big W. The market itself is nice, everything is homemade and the people are friendly

Great place to come for a walk or get gelato. Parking is tough due to construction but right across from new westminster skytrain. Has a couple of small restaurants with outdoor sitting as well. Gave it 3 instead of 4 stars because of lack of parking at the moment

Ted Woods

Beautiful river walk along this market with tons to do for kids and tons of good food in the market. Highly recommended for anyone with children or a family. Tug boat for kids to play on out side ... Patios .. Beautiful scenery.. Great place for anyone ... Also a short distance towards the bridges is some more parks, love locks, seats, hammocks in the summer time.. Elevator from Columbia street down to the river via the army navy parkade.

Due to the covid pandemic patios are open and stores and restaurants are doing deliveries. It is good...????????????.

Bryan H

Great place for a walk but there are few shops, no fish market or veggie stands. Looks like 1 corner store is open with limited selection. Pub is the only real business here. Dont come here to shop, come to walk

Joanne K

Have a good selection of restaurants and stores. Awesome waterfront view

J A

Great little market to find unique eateries and custom made material from jewellery to home decor. A great waffles breakfast restaurant is near by. Only issue is parking often not being free. Take the skytrain and walk a bit.

Interesting if you've never been, but not a Granville Island or Lonsdale Quay

Mixed opinion. Food: Good collection of restos in food fair style set-up, and my fave local market, Donald's. Shops: Excellent vintage furniture store, a destination in itself; a few other small shops besides, not really destination shopping. BUT, not really the "community centre" it bills itself as. This facility is primarily commerce-oriented. It does offer public wifi, 2 open networks, but neither of them are at all reliable. I've tried dozens of times. Not usable wifi. And the facility is unfriendly to tech users in other ways as well. For seating, you are either fighting with food fair customers in a loud space, or you're upstairs near the gymnastics area getting a headache from trainers yelling commands at their students. I occasionally find other portable workers here, but they always look harassed and miserable. Many of the outlets in the building block charger-type prong size -- that's downright hostile. If this is a "community" facility, why is there no designated area with public carralls with outlets for study, portable working and connecting? This facility is "The" downtown new west community centre, yet public connectivity is very much on the backburner. Not cool

Good for a small market. Nice little grocery store. Reup is a great place for chicken or ribs. Great ice cream/sorbet place plus a nice bakery. Hand made crafts for sale also.

It is a shame that even after the renovations done to this place, the now River Market place (old New Westminster Quay), it continues to be pretty "dead" and boring. Not a lot to do really. Few places to eat. Some of them the food is good although nothing extraordinary. Not a big selection of stores. Few restaurants and with very small patios and of the very few, only one was open on a sunny day two days ago. Closes early everyday even during the summer. Really very little to do. A waste of nice space.

The river market is a delightful little spot located along the bank of the Fraser River. With lots of interesting food options inside on the first floor (longtail, wild rice, free bird, re-up BBQ and more!) And a circus school (!) Upstairs, this is a great place to spend a lazy weekend afternoon...bonus points for taking a walk along the river afterwards! Only downside is that the market is small and prices are typically a tad above average (I'm looking at you Donald's market!) But the atmosphere is great and there is usually something fun going on here!

Ann L (Faye)

Not very big but it has some unique stores with quality products. The boardwalk is really enjoyable with a nice boat play area outside the market. If you are in the area stop in and take a look.

Richard Rigby

Perfect place to buy a snack before walking along the river.

Antonio Neri

Nice place to wine dine and unwind! Lots of choices. Lunch or dinner or afternoon snacks go well in this place.

Trevor Friesen

This is a cool place to visit in New Westminster. Upstairs there is a circus school and some arcade games. There is a Donald's Market downstairs with lots of organic choices. Several other "ma and pa" shops exist throughout.

Carl

I have always enjoyed the River Market experience. My compliments to the people managing it. Many changes over the years and the current setup is working well!

A gem of DT New West. All the restaursnts in the market are great in their own way. The market organizes lots of events and is a great place to meet friends and spend time with family. Something for everyone

peaceful lazer

Fantastic restaurants and grocery at donalds, plenty of events and fantastic view of the fraser river, great for kids, lots of hard working independently owned businesses here, and a acrobatics school. Clean modern design with plenty of light, great place to eat dinner and relax or explore and shop.

Ingrid Kwok

Cute and relaxing place to spend an afternoon at. It has a lot of character with some hearty shops. You can stroll along the promenade right outside the market. Good atmosphere. I hope there are more places like this in Vancouver.

Darrell Sovdi

No so good beer selection. Nice location.

Pav Shroff

Nice place to walk around in and sample some chocolate. Be sure to visit Amaranthus for a lovely spread of vegetarian cuisine (plus a lovely glass of juniper gin) ????

Tabitha Lowney

Plenty of good food options. Also a gelato place with LOTS of flavors. The womans washroom has a kids size toilet which i found thoughtful and convenient for moms and kids. There was plenty of seating to eat also a few tables outside. There was also gourmet chocolate stand and a flower shop

Karly Karly

Cute area with unique artisan goods for sale. Craft fair/market type vibes here. Near the waterfront too if you fancy a stroll after checking out the shops. There is a food court type area for snacks or light meals as well. Wide variety of goods offered for sale. Parking garage underneath.

Unusable. All i want is to grab a quick bite, enjoy the view, then grocery shop at donalds -- spend a fair but of time, in other words. But the lack of usable wifi keeps me from coming back. I stopped coming here completely a couple uears ago bc as i remember it, the network never EVER worked. If you asked tem about it at the office upstairs, they acted all surprised when they couldnt get on the network from their own device. Nice act lol. Im sure they gave several performances daily. But now i dont even see an office lol. This is the main problem for me. If i make my way over here to spend some time, i need to be able to check in online. Hint: Ppl need to get online when they shop but dont want to have to use up their data while shopping. Stores and malls that get it offer an open network, THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!!! I tried this place again today, 2 years since my last (frustrating) visit, and if possible its worse. Same useless wifi but now they also wont even let you recharge your device: there's a weird lock box over the accessible outlet. Cheap. Clueless. Unwelcoming. Another review used the word hostile to tech useers. I think thats about right, except since just about everyone is a tech user, its really more like hostile to everyone. This place just doesnt get it. Is this place receiving public funds as a community centre? I hope not bc its not accessible. Unsurprisingly, the market was a desert today, no one but a few elderly ppl nursing coffees forever and a few new moms with strollers not buying much. Totally dead, which is how i remember weekdays being every time ive visited, stretching back years. Blocking ppl from using their devices in multiple ways is a deal-breaker. If youd like more traffice, try to figure it out, rivermarket

There are some great hidden gems in this market! The food here is GREAT and affordable. Definetly worth checking out if you are in the area or looking for something outside of Vancouver.

Julie Artis

I visited the Boathouse, Paddle Wheeler Pub, and walked on the boardwalk on a Friday night. Right along the water at New Westminster Quay, this is a lovely area to spend a few hours!

Angela Fairfield

This is a really hidden gem for most Vancouverites! Come out for brunch at amazing Angelina’s Cafe or for happy hour at one of the many great pubs in the Quay or a few blocks away in New Westminster downtown!

Naomi W

Lots of great places to eat, small shops and grocery all in one place. The boardwalk is right outside for a leisurely stroll. Very short walk from new westminster skytrain. The pulled pork sandwich from Re-up bbq and pad Thai from Longtail are my favourite things to order.

Mike Cross

Wonderful little market with a few good restaurants and shops. Grabbing gelato and relaxing on the boardwalk is a great way to spend a summer afternoon. There is also a circus school here. Overall, I like the relaxing feel of this market.

Bruce Nguyen

Cute little market that is full of small businesses. Very accessible and full of joyful things!

Kobra Khan

Neat experience the revitalization of the quay and downtown area has been a refreshing experience ! The river market was bustling with people and independent restaurants, with an amazing view worth the visit great for families and all!

James Bicknell

Wasn't in the market for produce rather to enjoy the different ethnic food restaurants

Chris W

It is a place with good memories. Hope it become more popular. There have some nice food court foods inside

CP C

Lovely, not crowded, good food and drink places, interesting stores

Peter Jorgensen

I’m at Rivermarket for a cool event with a bunch of local business owners. Which is awesome because Rivermarket is full of some of my favourite local businesses: Great Wall Tea, The Stage, Music Box. And some of my favourite places to eat as well. BBQ, Tai food, Gelato... always a great place to visit.

nagia naseri

Great place to walk along the river. Donalds market for organic and local produce. Pub an bouthouse for ur lunch or dinner or the food court. Take a course or just enjoy the puttalluo bridge lots to due fun for all ages n wheelchair n kid friendly

Adam

Love it here, plus they have a Donald's. Lots of little stores and some restaurants. Nice to walk around New West and pop into the river market.

Russell Bruce

Tasty food good views, definitely a place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a good book onlooking the boardwalk.

Celina B

Best breakfast ever!! Such a variety of choices different breads different pancakes. Shared an omelette came on a platter it was to die for with small half panfried potatoes half a dozen varieties of different breads toasted and a fresh fruit bowl to die for oh my gosh never have I ever seen such an attractive breakfast so fresh so Delicious seriously gotta try

Lisa Terpening

Did all my Christmas shopping online from businesses at the River Market, and everything was delivered right to my door. Books from Kinder Books, tea from Great Wall, and bracelets from One Thing. I'm delighted with everything I bought and only wish I could have done my shopping in person (because then I could have had a sandwich and gelato!) Can't wait to come back!

Sara

It is a good place to grab a bite to eat but there are not many stores. They do however hold craft fairs that I enjoy shopping at. I miss how the old market had way more stores.

Matt W

Here for the food not the overpriced shops. It is a neat little shopping area but pricey especially when you factor in parking.
