Being one of the smaller 'strip malls', Brooks landing has a fairly robust mix of types of businesses. Gas station, coffee shops/fast food, banking, grocery, tech & office supplies, liquor store, hardware, and on and on. And with even more in the "back", there is literally something for everyone.

Brooks landing has a good assortment of shops to cover most needs. Groceries, electronics, home improvement, mens clothes, gas and a couple food locations. There is even more on the backside. It's a very good quick stop on your way somewhere and the shops are a good variety for the location. Parking can get a little hectic and if you need to leave to go down to departure bay it's not obvious how to get out in that direction.

I like books landing with staples and save on foods but most of all I love the mental health drop-in center they have at the back of the mall without this drop-in center I don't know where I'd be it gives you referrals for drug detox or other places in the Nanaimo area they can refer you for further help if needed there is also emergency counseling as you can walk in without an appointment and see somebody right away if in crisis

Brooks Landing Shopping Centre is my current favorite Nanaimo mall, with convenient access and a good variety of stores and services. Formerly Northbrook Mall, it is at the top of the hill overlooking Departure Bay, across from where Northfield Rd meets the old Island Hwy, with vehicle access from the highway, Highland Blvd and Departure Bay Rd. For pedestrians and cyclists, there is an underpass from Northfield and also a crosswalk at the stoplight where Departure Bay Rd meets the highway. And there are two crosswalks on Departure Bay Rd. The transit service on Departure Bay Rd runs northbound to Country Club (#1 bus) and Woodgrove Mall (#20 bus), southbound to Departure Bay (#20), Terminal Mall (#1) and Downtown (#1, #20). The mall has three buildings. The main building includes Staples, Home Hardware and Save-On Foods, and there is a pedestrian Walk-Thru (between Moore's and Save-On). The mall administration office is off the Walk-Thru hallway, but all the stores and restaurants, and the other offices, have external doors. Tim Horton's is in a separate building, on the far side from Staples, and it has a drive-thru. Beyond Tim's is the third building, which includes the Co-op gas station and convenience store, as well as a sandwich shop.

Only go there for the grocery store. There is a small selection of stores, most I don’t shop at. It is always trafficky making getting in and out a bit of work. Anchor stores are Staples, Home Hardware (recommended) and Save On Foods. The mall does not have interior entrances but all stores are accessed from the outside of each store. Basically a strip mall on 2 sides.

If you can survive the frustration of entering and exiting the parking lot and not get run over while walking to and from your car by the many confused drivers then, “Yes”, the strip mall has many of the stores you’re likely to shop at. Hint: we always find parking around the back which makes it easier to get back out of the parking lot through the congested other entrances. Good luck.

Brooks landing is somewhat like a plaza except that this plaza had Save-on Foods, Staples, and Home Hardware amongst other retailers. You can also get your coffee fix here while getting your banking done. You can also do a few other things here at the Brooks landing! Ample parking all around.

My favorite mid Town plaza. Everything you need, staples, liquor store, groceries, gas, home hardware, there is even an amazing little pet store at the back where you can get crickets for your exotic pets!! Very convenient for South end residents so we don't have to get all the way out to PetSmart. The lady working there is also lovely and helpful providing a more personal experience than the bigger box store.

Great outside shopping mall with good mix of shops that are useful to most working families. Exits can be confusing for Southbound people but signage could fix thst. The one problem is that there is a collector road running along the storefronts. This means no drive-up handicap parking. All handicap persons have to cross the collector road which all mall traffic uses. If they had better handicap parking and a good testaurant, I would give four stars.

This mall is great for a strip mall. They have Staples, Save-on Food, a liquor store, with a great selection of wines & ciders, so I've heard, Booster Juice, Home Hardware, RBC, Oliver's pet supplies, Boot Camp, which I heard was great to go to, szechuan restaurant, which I heard from alot of people, that it is delicious there, and if you need someone to talk to, there is counseling, behind the Staples store. There is a couple of other places there too, I think there is also a gym.
