I called Crossroads Self Storage earlier this week and spoke to Nick, the storage clerk. I had been seeking a climate-controlled unit and Nick advised there was only one storage unit left. Since I would not be in town, I offered to pay to hold the unit, but Nick promptly advised this was unnecessary - he would hold it for my return to the area at the end of the work week. I confirmed this again with him, and he assured me the unit would be waiting for me on Friday.
Fast-forward to Friday - today, as a matter of fact. I show up at Crossroads Self Storage before lunch, just like I advised Nick I would. When I arrived, I called and spoke to Nick who advised me he had given the unit to someone else. I had prior arrangements to move my belongings into the storage space, had arranged people to assist in moving me and just had to finalize the storage booking prior to moving my belongings in so, I was upset to say the least. When I expressed my frustration to Nick, he proceeded to give me 3 separate reasons as to why the unit was not available: 1) The unit "had not become available as previously expected" - this was an outright lie. The unit was available on Tuesday and he invited me to come and see it on that day. 2) It was my fault- I had not "called back in time" and he "couldn't hold the unit for a long time" - this was not at all what was discussed just 3 days prior. And, finally, Nick admitted he just gave it to someone else who came first.
No apology was offered for the inconvenience.
To anyone who has made it to the end of this review and is seeking an honest and transparent transaction - do yourself a favour and go someplace else. I would absolutely not trust Crossroads Self Storage with my valuables and don't believe anyone else should either.
