While the federal and provincial governments are trying their best to flatten the curve of covid19 in Canada, Elliot Lake retirement management is doing the opposite by encouraging unnecessary access by maintenance personnel to our units. These personnel are not using any PPE and exposing the residents to the risk of being infected by covid19. Hope the mayor of the city takes action against this irresponsible management. Also the management violated the law of privacy by giving my mobile number to the plumber. The reply of the management below is totally false. The management is protecting its staff by not allowing anyone to access their building. We have just received a letter from the management they will be accessing all apartments to check fire alarms. If one apartment is contaminated, all other apartments will be cross contaminated through the shoes of the workers. This inspection can be postponed until covid19 is over. However with an irresponsible management we shall expect the unexpected. I am most happy to leave my apartment soon but I feel very sorry for the poor innocent seniors.

My parent's and family have rented apartments in town for a number of years and found to be a great place to live. I have personally worked with staff and found very helpful

Found a great place in town. Made two trips here from Hamilton last fall and winter. First one got me to tour the available rentals and a tour of the city. The second allowed me to secure an apartment. Only cost me $60 for 4 overnight stays at the Hampton Inn as Retirement Living puts you up there for free the first night and $30 (now $50) for the second night. City has all the basic amenities. Great place for outdoor activities, including 2 beaches on Elliot Lake itself. Just love it here.

I don't like the reviews people are giving, not because I don't like bad reviews, but because I am 8 years from retirement and am terrified of having to rent a home after being treated horribly by landlords in the past. I read the review of the woman whose sister she had to move out and she cleaned the place top to bottom and even recorded video after the fact and the company STILL sent a cleaning invoice to her. To me, that's disgusting and sickening and is making my husband and I look to 55+ communities where you can buy your home for under $230K and just pay park fees, but the management leaves you alone because you OWN your home and are not allowed to enter your premises and you can hire your own contractors. There were other reviews where the staff wouldn't wear their PPE while entering resident's apartments which made me nervous. When dealing with the elderly, none of these things should ever be happening and considering we are a "smoke free Ontario" for 18 years now, by LAW, the owners should be providing a smoking area OUTSIDE for all residents including their cannabis use unless they are using edibles or a vapourizer. I'm 56 and not happy that as a severe asthmatic, I can't consider Elliot Lake in my retirement planning until they go full smoke free.

If you are a smoker DO NOT rent any units in the building Washington 1 & 3 or 26 Willoughby, however, if you smoke marijuana you will have no problem whatsoever. You can't smoke inside your unit if you do you have to pay for painting when you move out and if you smoke on the balcony, you will be constantly harassed not by the Retirement Living staff, but by the other tenants even threatened to be evicted. I believe 80% of seniors are smokers it's the thing people did in 60s and 70s now the young generation thinks you must stop smoking to please them. I also believe RL has an obligation to inform any new tenant if the smoking is aloud or not before unit is rented to you so you can make a decision to rent or not to rent. When I rented a car I was told by the rental agency no smoking in the car RL has a same obligation to stop this nonsense. People don't move here to be HARASSED at the old age or any age by the POT SMOKERS or NON SMOKERS while smell of marijuana permeates through the building. Keep this in mind before renting any unit in those buildings.

Dont rent from these guys. The units are nice but if anything goes wrong dont expect them to do anything about it. They will tell you everything you want to hear and wont take action.

My back yard floods every year and I have been asking them to bring me a yard or two of good dirt to raise the yard but have not gotten any in the six years we've lived here ???? Not Impressed

The management is sending workers to access the units of the residents without wearing any PPE. They are sending workers to the units in the midst of global pandemic risking the tenants lives for the sake of making money. Absolutely appalling!!

Regarding 3 Washington Cres. Don't be fooled by their advertising. I wouldn't dream of encouraging another person to move here after our experience. Our sister retired first so we set her up fully intending to move to Elliott Lake within 2 years when we retire. Sadly the second week of December 2018 our sister took ill suddenly becoming hospitalized. She would not be able to return to her home so as the closest family we drove for 8 hours in order to ensure rent was paid and the required notice to vacate was given to the office. We then proceeded to sell as many items as possible, donate the rest, clean the apartment including scrubbing the bathroom spotless then the fridge and stove. We left an empty and clean apartment. I videoed the entire apartment even inside the closets thank goodness. Today I was notified we received a letter from ELRL post-marked March 27th with a letter inside dated February 12th. It was an invoice for $409. for cleaning including an extra charge for the fridge and stove. We can't believe it. The only thing that apartment needed was a fresh paint job and that's not our responsibility. I'm fortunate my background is in property management so I know how to protect myself. I also know the office staff produces invoices based on the word of their landlords. This landlord was unpleasant, unfriendly, unavailable and unhelpful once you could track him down. He is the lying slimeball who has reported this fallacy and submitted the bill to the office. I feel pretty confident I won't be the first complaint they've had about him.
