Called these crooks to repair my garage door.. did not provide a quote did a simple fix put on three bolt buddies and a dead bolt and charged $1200......then proceeded to discuss my personal business as to what occurred at my residence with the neighbor as to what happened at my home! when he said 1200$ which i paid with credit card over phone.. I assumed he used a new door until i went to see the work he had done. Absolutely absurd! Here is the hack job, does it work yes, is it worth 1200$ ... avoid this company at all cost

Linda Lee

Tyler and Jonathan showed up right on time to replace my garage door opener this morning. They were friendly, efficient, took the time to explain everything and answer my questions. Cleaned everything up and in/out in 1.5 hours. Amazing service and great guys! Thanks Tyler & Johnathan!

Michael Lastiwka

Not impressed. For basic maintenance involving lube, some adjustments to the door, to the system my bill was over $550! Now a month later the door still doesn't work. So I was charged for maintenance for a garage door that doesn't open or close properly. Feeling very ripped off. Seeing these reviews explains my mistake. No one told me that it would be $150 just to come out. Only idea about price was when I was handed the bill. I was expecting maybe a couple hundred for the labour, but geez man. After reading these reviews I now understand.

Taylor Wood

Went in to get a simple liftmaster garage door opener and they quoted me between $80-$100 for the one I needed. Absolutely absurd seeing as I bought it for $33 elsewhere....... So glad I didn't buy from there as they are WAY to overpriced.......

5 months ago a tecnishian named kev come to fix my automatic garage door.each time I was asking him how much it will cost, he was as he ignoring my cuestion, when he finished he let me know that it was $650 for 20 min. Work but Tha with replacing something my door was going to be good for years. Today, after 5 months and using my door only few times because I have not a car, my door stop working again, I called them again because the high last charge I thought it will be as a garanty today. I ask him before if today will be cheaper and I like to know exactly. He told me that this time will be more that $1000. I say, not thank but, he was wanted I pay him ober $200 for service call that wasn't disclosed before. The costumer service lady by the phone told me she is going to put me on colecting charge service if I refuse to pay. It is terrible. I call it a robery.

Thomas Karosseit

Had a guy in the other day got a quote which was outrageous for 16X7 door for the garage. Don't use these guys the quote should have been done for free not for $130 bucks. Got another quote by someone else for nearly half the cost thats with everything photo eyes, opener, rails, flashings, springs, and door.

Mack Jones

Very over priced and they will tell you to replace parts even when you dont need to.

David Schomburg

Ridiculous customer service. Not very polite either

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY AND THEIR FEES! Door Surgeon was contacted to provide a quote for a condo located at Axxess Summerwood in Sherwood Park, AB. The condo board has issued a mandatory repair of all units with damaged garage doors. I contacted Door Surgeons and set up an appointment. The 2 gentlemen showed up and provided a quote of $2,600.00 plus gst for the single car garage door to be repaired. Understanding this was an unresasonable quote, they were advised they would not be getting the job. At that time they demanded a service call fee of $99.00 plus gst. Which was NEVER mentioned on their website or at time of appointment booking. When I contacted Door Surgeon to have money refunded, she advised "IT IS THE CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO ASK IF THERE ARE FEES"; therefore, would NOT refund the service call fee. Terrible company practices and conducts themselves unethically and unprofessionally. And in my opinion is in violation of the guidelines outlined by the Competition Bureau...see below. The misleading advertising and labelling provisions enforced by the Competition Bureau prohibit making any deceptive representations for the purpose of promoting a product or a business interest, and encourage the provision of sufficient information to allow consumers to make informed choices. Wish I could give them zero ⭐️!!!!! $149 for basic service call and any parts is what we were told. He arrived takes our seal out, puts same seal back in and then messes around with the garage door for a total of 45 min! Then the bill.......an additional $234 for labor and $26 for grease!!! That’s $5.20 per MINUTE!!!! Not considering the service call price!! Terrible company, feel completely ripped off! Do not use their service!

Christian Pommer

They knew what they were talking about with my old Wayne Dalton iDrive over the phone, tech came out same day (a Saturday no less) within 90 minutes. Mickey figured it out fast, gave me fix and replace options and had the parts with him to fix my system. Back up and running in less than 2 hours. Thank you, Door Surgeons!!

Ingrid Schifer

To be fair, I didn't use their service. (yet). The 1 star was for my experience just calling with an inquiry, that was so dismal I'm not sure I will choose them at this point. I get that some businesses are busy, but don't make me feel like I'm intruding on your day when I'm asking questions about your services. If you don't want customers phoning in with questions, then don't plaster your phone number all over your flyers. Thanks.

최진호

I just talked to them on the phone. From the get go they sounded very rude. All I asked was their labor fee and I made her to repeat once on this specific information due to the bad phone connection. The lady on the phone treated me as if I am a kinder-garden child. Very disrespectful. I feel insulted so I request her to answer me more politely and respectfully. She hung up on me right away.

Louis Belzil

Very prompt, knowledgable and efficient service. JJ got our 60 year old wooden door running like new! Would not hesitate to recommend.

Marie-Andree Vallieres

Charged me $125 for service call + $59 for a diagnosis that took 3 minutes to make. Took 10 minutes to make an estimate from that dude that smells booze and cigarettes. Feeling extremely annoyed of tradesmen charging as if they were neurosurgeon. We are talking about a garage door here. When I first called to have someone check the door, displacement fees were never mentioned. When I called back to complain about it, it was apparently my fault, as it is according to them, the customer responsibility to ask! What kind of business is that? That is an insult to society. That is total BS.

Irene Mitrowka

Wish I had read these reviews before I had them come to replace a patio lock. Very expensive! No quote given, always demand a quote! It cost us $825 to replace a handle!

Bill Holden

I don't review a lot of stuff, but these guys were so disappointing I felt compelled to do so. Firstly, it would have been nice to know about the $125+GST cost to get a quote before they arrived. He barely looked at our door opener and said that the opener and door needed replacing, and gave a quote that suspiciously seemed like the same quote everyone gets. Did I mention that he smelled like cigarettes and even our dog didn't like him (not a good sign). Anyway, we called someone else who fixed the thing for $88 and gave us a quote for when the door and opener eventually do need replacing. Not surprisingly, their quotes were for several different levels of door and all were lower.

Drake Ward

0 stars really. Single handed WORST COMPANY. DO NOT USE!! . My door was kicked in and the door jamb wasnt repairable, and they claimed since the house was older it needed retro fitting ... To the tune of $5700 for a frame, 6 pain steel door, and deadbolt and lockless knob . Then charged me $276 just for coming out and quoting me, no work was done on sight . Crooked pricing ! On the plus side the locksmith was really nice , hes what got them the star.

Sachin Othayoth

Called to get my garage fixed, quote was too high so i declined and then i had to pay a $200 fee just for the quote, which was never mentioned! a class action should be organized! this is robbery

Josh Warmenhoven

I tried installing my own garage door and failed miserably. These guys came, and fixed all my mistakes in now time. But they also showed me what I did wrong in case I need to service it in the future. The 2 techs were very professional and made quick work of my small job. I would greatly recommended them for any work you need done.

Nolan Kurth

Called for a remote, amazed at how dismissive a customer service person could be. Go elsewhere.

Rob Madunicky

Similar to what others are saying. Overpriced and fees intentionally hidden. I needed some minor repairs and weather stripping to my back door. They quoted me $200 for the weather stripping alone and $350 in labour. I wasn't aware that they charge $150 just to come, which is not deducted from any labour cost. When I called back about it, I was told since I didn't ask that's on me to pay and that the BBB is ok with that. The conversation confirmed that they will upcharge and hide fees from you, that is how they run their business. So AVOID and go somewhere else where they will be upfront with you and fair with pricing. The tech who came out was professional, the reason for the star really.

Nancy Culyer

2 weeks ago I had my garage door replace. The cost was reasonable and the work was well done. The crew that came were very friendly and efficient. They replaced my door frame as the old frame wasn't well built. When they were done, they explained how everything worked ( how to input the door code, how to lubricate the mechanisms etc.) I was given manuals to read (and I did read them!) and was told to call if I had any problems. I waited 2 weeks to post this review as I wanted to use the door and make sure everything was working well. This door is a lot quieter than the old one, works smoothly and with two lights makes it easier to see once door is closed. I would recommend Door Surgeon to others.

Sandra Richardson

JJ and his crew were extremely knowledgeable and explained what was needed and why. We chose to replace our garage door and it was installed professionally and in a timely manner. JJ explained how to maintain the door and said that I could call anytime if I had questions or concerns. The door is fantastic and I feel like the company and its installers are professional and stand behind their product and installation. It was a great experience and I would recommend the Door Surgeon. (Inv #32833)

Dave Richardson

What a rip off! Was quoted $412 to replace 2 cables and tune up my garage door, then he added $149 service call plus $39 for shop supplies ended up at $631. Took him 45 minutes. My neighbor had the same work done for less than $300. They were careful not to tell me the total cost ahead of time, very unethical way to do business.

Nick Watt

These guys don't know what they're doing and charge absurd rates for their complete lack of knowledge. Called to get my house door weatherproofed and a cracked threshold sill cap replaced. They charged me $550 and all they did was screw in a sweep to the bottom of the door. I could have bought this part for $40 and screwed it into the door myself. That $550 didn't even get me a completed job - the door now won't close properly and he measured the door incorrectly so the sweep hangs out past the end of the door. Furthermore, when asked if we could replace the threshold with a better option, he said this was a standard part and he would source a replacement. Only to find out that the part hasn't been available for years. And lastly, every time cost was brought up the service tech had to call his "boss" to get pricing for the job. Why is there no set service rates in place? Avoid this company at all costs. I'm out $550 for a $40 part and 20mins of work. Complete joke of a business.

Crazy Q

Very bad service the manager does not want to fix warranty work and is very unprofessional I was told if I dont like it find another company to fix the job that he refused to complete properly save yourself time and just get another company to do the job properly and you won’t have to go through the hassle I did !!

Joshua Starr

Garage door decided to break right before leaving to work this morning. Called Door Surgeon and explained my situation and they had a tech out to me within a couple hours. Car is now out of the garage and the door is working better than ever! Thanks Door Surgeon!

Bill Herbert

Last week I purchased new springs for a very old garage door on an even older garage for my daughter at the Door Surgeon's Edmonton west end location. Thanks to the help of the parts department and JJ in service I was able to complete a difficult repair with relative ease and with the confidence that the repair was done right. Their experience and interest in their work was a nice positive change. I highly recommend this facility.

Monica Cheng

Kev was very helpful and professional. He knows exactly what the problem is and solves it in a very timely manner. He is very knowledgeable and devoted. Door Surgeon is very lucky to have him on staff. Trust assured we will call on your service if situation arises.

Editor Chief

Not impressed with their fees or the long lag time (+3 days) for a canned quotation. Essentially wasted my time. Could of had it fixed or replaced in that time period. I would not use these guys or recommend them at all. Call around and read the reviews on Google, some may be BS but bad reviews are definitely a red flag.

grant kleine

Good Service but WAY overpriced!!!! They charged me almost 500 dollars to simply re attach a cable on my overhead door. 149 just to show up and that fee doesn’t even make any contribution to the repair. Charged a “ diagnostic fee” when I already knew the problem. Charged just under 30 dollars for “shop supplies” when only used a few squirts of lube from a aerosol can. I definitely do not recommend these guys unless you like throwing away money. Really regret calling Door Surgeon for help. Grant K

Ron Kellington

Get other quotes, we made a mistake and just called them without checking around. What a costly mistake, garage door and opener. Please do yours homework. The office staff must work for minimum wage, based on the service they gave us, and the way the handled our concern. Please get other quotes.

D Ma

These guys quoted me $3300 for a garage door repair that another company did for $1150. I then added a $800 door opener and the total bill still came in $1100 LESS than their quote. Beware!

Micky Dollard

Very professional and informative with repairs and preventative maintenance discussed which no other company has taken time to explain.

Carolyn Hale

Very poor service. Had to order a part, waited forever with no response. Rude service man, the cost was OUTRAGEOUS. Go find another company that gives quality service.

Linda Huffman

Fantastic service! Called at 4:30 on the Saturday of a long-weekend and within two hours the door was repaired and serviced! Could not have been more surprised and satisfied! The technician, JJ Boisclair was terrific! I highly recommend.

connie scott

After calling a couple of door repair places and getting nowhere because they didn't service the Redwater /Gibbons area, I called Door Surgeons and the dispatcher was very kind and set me up an appointment. She told me straight out that they charge for mileage as well. Then Scott the technician and Catherine came to meet me at my office in Gibbons so they could follow me to the house. Right away Scott told and showed me what needed to be repaired. I said go ahead and fix it and asked if he would drop by the office for payment so I could get back to work. When he came to the office he told me exactly what they did and it was all fixed. When I got home I was greatly surprised when I saw the garage door was indeed fixed and he even straightened all the wiring and tucked it away nice and neat. All in All a great Job and I would recommend Door Surgeons to anyone I know who needs a garage door repaired or even installed. Thank you for the great service.

Rod Thompson

We were needed a specific sized garage door and Door Surgeons made it happen. We were even able to get it in the color we wanted!!

Scifi Daigneau

Just had them come out to do an estimate and they want to charge us 150.00 for the estimate and were not told this up front on the phone call when we asked for someone to come out to give us an estimate. Don't waist your time.

Keenan Jones

Never use Door Surgeon!!!!! Worst receptionist ever! - Rita I had Kev come to my property and explain that I am being charged $140.00 for travel time, something that I was not told up front. Two weeks later after a $450.00 service charge, my spring breaks. I call Rita and was put back on hold three times, then told, "we can't foresee metal fatigue". I asked to talk to her manager and got the old "I am the manager"! asked to talk to her boss and was told "he won't talk to you"!! Too many hard working, competent companies in Alberta to put up with this B.S. I also love reading the canned responses from management! So heart felt, but you can see nothing has changed and you still see the same issues happening.

Mary Anne MacDonald

Do not use this company. Hidden fees and overpriced.

Adam

No comment on their service/product but if their work is anything like their driving I would not let them anywhere near my home/business/garage. The merge that almost caused a 3 car collision on the henday was impressive. Followed by slowing down to then turn on the overhead light and flip the bird to both other vehicles involved, all while driving the company truck. I can only imagine that the service and craftmanship of those employed that would do this with the company name and phone number all over the truck would be subpar at best.

Justis Boisclair

Jj installed our door and he was very professional, knowledgable, and efficient . The price was good and the quality is amazing . Will definitely return

Jean Woodrow

Had a new door installed. It looks great. Thank you. They are friendly and showed up on time. I'm getting older and appreciated the time they took to explain everything.

Scott Robert

I wish I would have read the other comments on this "company". Called for a quote on a new garage door and met the tech at my home. 10 minutes later he handed me a quote twice the price of the other 2 I received for similar doors. they add a new motor on their quote (I didn't need one) so I asked him to remove it and he said it only takes $200 off the quote they were still 2K higher than the competition. THEN he tells me he's going to charge me $131.25 for the quote. I inform him that no one at dispatch mentioned a fee and that I had 2 other companies quote the job for free. He said sorry they should have told you and I declined to pay. Fast forward a week and I get a bill in the mail for 131.25. I called the number and was told they would not waive the fee. I asked to speak to a manger and I was hung up on. This is not a reputable company in my books and if you do your research on product in price you'll never chose them so avoid the call in the first place.

Curt Pillipow

Shop around before settling for hidden fees. I understand that a service call starts at $149 PLUS, parts and labour. So, basically having them just show up costs you $149 before any work is done. And I have read that they charge for quotes, which to me seems like poor business practice. Any decent company gives you a quote for free... it’s a quote, not a contract. Big city equals more choices. Choose wisely. Do your research.

Andrew Mac kechnie

Their garage door Service Manager JJ Boisclair is a rare employee in this day na dage. He actually cares about customer service and delivers in spades.. Entire process was first rate . Service, friendliness, quality of product and workmanship, and a genuine thanks for the business attitude. The too young men that came to mu home and did the work were fantastic. This was one job where I did not mind paying , as everything was done to perfection. Highly recommend Door Surgeon for any door needs. Two thumbs way up!

Kelly Burgess

Jason provided excellent service in repairing my European door! Thank you!

Nathan Schmidt

My parents called this company a couple weeks ago when their door would not open. The technician was friendly enough, and upon reviewing the quote for a door replacement was shocked at the price. Over double a competitor's quote for the same work. I have to think that this company is out to take advantage of the elderly!

Sarah Young

Used lock surgeon previously to get some truck keys. Service and pricing was fantastic so I decided to try out door surgeon when my garage door stopped working. OK i may have hit it with my car :( Service technicians are professional, clean and nice. Got me fixed up the same day so I could get in and out. Then had a new door installed a few days later. Its been almost a year now and everything still works like new.

Xiao Chu

If I can give zero stars I would! OVERCHARGE! When I called them, I was told they can come out right away. I told them I just needed them to replace the garage door spring, nothing else. When the technician, Kev C. showed up, he said he needed to do a full diagnosis. Charging me an extra $149 for a service call + $59 diagnostic fee + $90 x2 for the actual springs. Then an extra $215 for labour + $42 for misc. supplies, like paper towels and cleaning. My total was $677.48 for less than an hour of actual work! Ridiculous fees and terrible company! Tried calling and asking for an explanation; Rita, the receptionist hung up and wouldn't provide a receipt right away. Avoid this company once and for all!

David Milne

Garage surgeons were excellent. Serviced the door. Found the problem with the sensors and stayed until the job was done right.

DUANE ABOUGHOCHE

Excellent service, efficient. very knowledgeable people. Very good job would highly recommend.

Paula Floyd

I got the garage door replaced from you, few months back. But, it has started to make weird sounds and creating problem while opening and closing. Too horrible to choose their services.

Paul MacDonald

Rude. Hung up when she realized no sale. Common Courtesy to say “have a good day” or “bye” at the least.

Lindsay Gorda

Highway robbery, called to get a quote on a storm door for front entry and replacement patio door screen, wasn't possible for a front storm screen door because of door frame design, tech then told us they don't do patio screen doors, the proceeded to check the slide on the glass door, removed door and said new rollers were required. Left to get new rollers, 2hrs later. invoiced the repair at $841.12, shop supplies at $52.41, which we supplied some paper towel. This is hard to justify for 45 minutes work.

Julie Leshchyshyn

Serviceman was great, professional, courteous and knowledgeable . Great job would recommend to anyone.

Noah Thompson

imma just give 5 stars for their jingle on the radio, its catchy ????

Rose-marie Glover

I was very happy with the service of J.J.Boisclair. After 2 fixes of my doors by their company he noticed that I needed thinner doors and now they have been replaced. I had my last doors done by Home depot and they were too thick for my garage , they were banging into the garage ceiling, coming off the tracks and coming back up all the time. He changed all the wood around the entrances, he cleaned up all the garage, he changed the tracks and the doors, he reset my openers side by side, he reset the time and the temperature, he leveled the doors. They are very quiet now and I don't have to worry about them coming up anymore. He made sure my last "fix" was reimbursed as a credit on this bill. He was very thankful that I gave Door Surgeon another chance to fix the actual problem and I am very happy to say I bought Steel-Craft Canadian made doors. They may cost more but they are worth it. Thank you J.J.
