We have been with Protection Plus for 14 years and there’s a reason for that… they are excellent from installation, to service and prices. Installation was very professional and easy. Day-to-day, our alarm system is easy to use and works perfectly and gives us great peace of mind when away from our house or even when sleeping at night. Over the years, we have had a few service calls and the technicians have always arrived on time and have been very professional, knowledgeable/skilled and personable. Recently, we had a technician, John, to our house to install a wireless contact and he was great! When you call Protection Plus for whatever reason (or when they call you when you accidentally set off your alarm, lol!), they are also professional and helpful. On the few occasions that we have set off our alarm, the monitoring centre was very quick to phone us to ensure we were okay. We highly recommend Protection Plus! December 2020 - additional comments - it seems I can't write more than one Google review? So I am adding an update to this one. Protection Plus continues to be amazing. We had a technician at our house recently for an optional service and he was amazing. It was a finicky job but Ciaran was so patient, professional and did an awesome job. THANK YOU!

I have one person on my call list and 1 cell number. My dad is this person. I was out of the country and he had to make an emergency medical stop at my house. He answered the phone identified himself and was told by agent all was good. A security agent was sent to my house 40 min later I was told I would be charged 80$. I called to ask why as it was the only contact I had listed. I was told he didn't identify himself but agreed to cut cost in half. What's the point of having a contact person! They called my son 7 yrs ago when he set off alarm. He didn't have code and I wasn't charged and no one was sent. Stay away. A contact is a contact source to do that for you. Not for them to decide despite the contact identifying themselves and then charging you, when not necessary. My dad messaged me on what's app, I sent him disarming code and he disarmed device by end of conversation with agent. She told him everything was OK. He had identified himself. I've been through this before and contacts answered and it was resolved. I guess there's no point to the contact then. My dad lives 15 min away. If he was contacted he could have been at the house faster than the 45 min it took them. He has a cell number. To me that's an identifier if that number is answered.

As a Protection Plus customer for 8 years, I've never had the need to contact them. Recently; however, my system went wonky and I contacted Protection Plus for service. Stephen, the technical rep first tried troubleshooting with me and was able to quickly narrow down the problem. He scheduled a technician to come out within a few days and voila....... Not only did the technician fix the problem he also found a problem with my phone line and fixed that too. Punctual, thorough, professional and courteous. While it wasn't quite an emergency I needed to get a lot of stuff done. New deadbolts, locks and knobs, multiple re-keyings, etc. I called Protection Plus on Tuesday and by Wednesday Brian, the sales rep, dropped by my place to scope out the work, gave me some stellar advice, and got me a quote. Have Protection Plus for a few years and I have a good service . The other day my alarm started and when they could not reach me they dispatched somebody to my home. After inspecting it they left a note that all looked OK. I have called technical service and they were very helpful. Explained what could have triggered the alarm and how to test my system. I have used Protection Plus security monitoring alarm monitoring service since 2002 for my 3 houses. The first 2 homes were in GTA area and even I moved to Ottawa in 2012, I continued to use their service and installed a system in my new home. After promised all of these good things, we need to sign the contract, where it says: "(Customer) understands alarm signals delivery at station depends on relatability of transmission method." basically says if the alarm failed to work, we the customers are responsible. This company decided on the equipment to use and install it when we do not understand any of it, but, if it failed to work, we are responsible! He even spoke with the 2nd in command of the company who said we have to sign and not to change a single word. Because the Association of home alarm system insist that wording. My husband refused to sign such a contract. I'd bet most people just sign and never ask what the contract says.”

The whole experience was great and with a quick turn around. This was during the COVID pandemic. They all wore mask and gloves, and were mindful of social distancing. Brian helped us with selection and recommendation of projects and was easy to reach. John (doors) and Geler (windows) were very punctual and professional. I've been a Protection Plus customer for 3 years and I have always had good service but really didn't need to contact them until recently when my contract term was coming to a close and I had questions regarding my billing and options going forward. Steve the technical service rep was so helpful and provided options going forward, helped walk me through how to test my system properly and also provided some options if I choose to forgo my home phone in the future. He even provided some info on where to obtain batteries if I choose to give up my warranty option in the future to save costs. He is very personable and didn't rush me off the phone. Overall, the customer experience was great and I would recommend this company to friends and family looking for a security provider.

Salesperson was very friendly and knowledgeable. The installation however did not go as smoothly as we thought it would. The technician did not clean after himself and scratched a brand new door that we installed only a month ago. We would have appreciated a follow-up from someone, to explain us how the system installed works, or at the very least to gauge our satisfaction. The only thing we got is a call and a follow-up email from their administrative team asking us, again, what was our credit card number as the technician forgot to write it down when he came over. All in all, we're happy with the system, but we're a bit disappointed with the service.

I have never had any issues with their system and they have always provided superior service when I have had a question or asked them to come and take a look at my system when I have had issues (none of which by the way were anything to do with their system or installation). Service for installation was great. I have been a ADT customer for many years but decided to switch to Protection Plus. Steve the sales person was awesome and so was John the installer. Now as for the Monitoring - not so good. They use api as there monitoring station. Last week my side garage door opened and the alarm went off. I was at work. I did get a notification on my phone but did not see it. 10 min later I saw it and thought it strange the monitoring api company did not call me. So I called them ASAP. I was on hold for 9 minutes before someone answered. I asked why they did not call me that my alarm has been set off (I actually had 2 neighbours call me saying my alarm siren was going off for a while) and there reply was they are busy and my alarm was low priority and my signal did not even appear on there screen. Well that was a slap in the face. So basically someone breaking into your garage is low priority. I have never experienced that in the 36 years that I have had an alarm at home. Protection Plus's answer to me when I complained was this rarely happens. Well it did happen and I'm not pleased. So would I recommend them as a monitoring company - Not so much! Do your research on the monitoring side if you want full sound of mind and peace protection.

I recently entered the market for a security system and security cameras for my residence and contacted a number of companies via online. Brian from Protection Plus was the first to respond (within 24 hours) and he spent an hour on the phone evaluating what my requirements were and suggested a strategic package that met my needs and didn’t break my budget. He showed up at my residence and explained the entire process to me along with walking around the perimeter of my home to discuss camera placements. We agreed to an overall package and arranged for an installation date about 2 weeks out from signing. The day of installation, Joe and Ciaran arrived in the morning and worked diligently all day executing the installation. They were very professional, knowledgeable, and took extreme pride in their work. You can not see any exposed wiring around my home from the cameras and their work in the basement was very clean. They took their time at the end of the day to walk me through the security system and camera set up, app use and troubleshooting which was impressive as I didn’t feel rushed and was encouraged to ask questions to make sure I was comfortable with everything before they left. Brian even showed up on the installation day to bring Joe and Ciaran lunch and to make sure I was happy. For more "tech savvy " people there is a very technical 400+ page manual on the internet.

Great service so far. I chose Protection Plus over other larger companies due to the great reviews online (compared to the many horror stories about some of their competitors). I talked to Brian on the phone who took the time to answer my many questions and didn't try to give the "hard sell" I experienced elsewhere. The monthly fee is quite competitive, and you end up owning the equipment (which is not always the case elsewhere). I was able to arrange installation at very short notice, which was important because I was going away on vacation. The installation went smoothly and they ran the power cable through the wall with no issues. The equipment is easy to use and appears state-of-the-art. I recommend getting the phone app, which is free. So far the system has worked well and my experience has been good. Recommended!

Critical to my search was finding a company who was knowledgeable, able to meet my requirements, was not looking to upsell me on features offering little to know value, and reasonably priced. I found that with Protection Plus (Brian Gold). Once we agreed upon a suitable security package, Brian promptly scheduled the installation (some venders offer a “do it yourself” service, but my preference is to leave it to professionals). The Installer (Jason) arrived as scheduled (actually slightly before his scheduled time which was nice to see). I expressed, to her that my front door would not open and then later that day, would not lock. Very frustrated, I was assured that John Vergopoulos would contact me shortly. John reached out after 10 minutes, incredible response. John came by the very next day. He contacted me with a time that he would arrive, and upon arrival, he went quickly to work.The problem was due to the bolt in my actual door, and not with the locking device. We have relied on Protection Plus as a safeguard for our home in Mississauga for over 10 years. The choice of Protection Plus was based on a strong recommendation provided by the Home Service Club, and we chose well. The installation of the monitoring and alarm system was done efficiently and the system has operated flawlessly. Response to the occasional tripping of the alarm by our children was fast and courteous. We even had occasion to be contacted by the alarm monitoring centre when the power in the neighbourhood went down, with the contact being to assure us that they were aware of the local situation. We have just had new doors installed as part of a renovation to our aging house, and this resulted in the sensors that had been in place being removed. The door installers unfortunately could not leave sufficient wiring length for an easy fix. Protection Plus sent a technician to replace the sensors as soon as the door installers were finished. Even though the technician was unaware until he arrived that some new wiring had to be pulled, this was done immediately and we were back under the watchful electronic eye of the alarm monitoring station – which called moments after the technician tripped the alarm. Very revealing of the people who run the Protection Plus operation is that they indicated there would be no charge for the service call and the new sensor components given that we were long-time customers. As already said, we chose well in selecting Protection Plus as our security system provider, and we highly recommend Protection Plus to our friends, neighbours and others in our family.

Reached out to Protection Plus based on their stellar reviews regarding customer service. Had one of their senior security consultants quote me on my office. We negotiated the price and agreed to a discounted rate on the GSM module. When it was time to sign the contract, he said he couldn’t honour the price because his manager would disapprove. I asked him why offer it in the first place if that’s the case? To which he told me that the price is the price and that he wasn’t going to haggle. I wasn’t trying to haggle, I was looking to get what I was promised, that’s all. I told him this and said the exchange left a poor taste in my mouth and that I’d be going another route. He then told me the reason he couldn’t honour the price was also because there was a glass break added which wasn’t initially quoted. I took a look at the original quote and lo and behold, it had glass break. The entire sales process was frustrating as I had to chase Steve to get updates, book appointments etc. I would suggest that anyone looking to work with protection plus or any other provider for that matter, to read their contract carefully to ensure they’re getting what they were promised.

Honest review. I switched from Bell Home Monitoring to this system. In comparison, the app is not user friendly/not modern. I can not arm and disarm my system from the app. I cannot see when/which motion detectors have been triggered from the app. I cannot see what doors have been opened at what time on the app. All the app seems to be good for is the video footage? Unless there is more to the system that no one cared to walk me through, which is also frustrating. They also do not come on and talk on speaker through the system unlike Bell. Over all I think the system would have been amazing in 2005. But with such advances and updates with other companies this company seems over priced for what you are getting.
