They can charge a lot of money but they sure get the job done.
made up reviews.I called for a price quote on 2 Keys for a 1986 Chevrolet, one ignition key , and one door key. Lock Surgeon estimated price was 5.98 per key +tax. I was satisfied with the price, brought my keys to (17812-118 ave) to be cut. After I received the keys, and the work was completed, I handed a woman, a $50 dollar bill. I was very surprised, when she handed me back $14.40. I asked if the price was right, she said of course. I then explained that, the quote they told me on the phone was $13 tax included. THEY CHARGED ME $35.60 almost three times the quote. I jiggle my ignition key, because, my key does not work otherwise. Please do not go there, or do not ever let anyone go there. I telephoned every other shop in the city, the most expensive price was 14 plus tax for 2 keys. Furthermore, every other shop, I talked to said, are you talking about Lock Surgeon, they are a super expensive overpaid group of amatures with bad attitude. As a parting note be advised that everyone I meet, including customers, friends, strangers Facebook will hear about how you do business. Thank you very much Timothy Daniels
They did quality work but reaped the customer! They gave quote of $149.99 but eventually charged $699.99 on just garage door wire snap. It really hit my budget...not planned for.
For the last year, my garage door has been buggy and would never close with the remote. After it opened on its own in the middle of the night (leaving my house and belongings vulnerable to theft), I finally made a call to get it fixed for same day service. Overhead Door said the earliest availability for a tech to fix it was a week from now, whereas the Lock Surgeon had someone out within a few hours! Our technician Mickey was super knowledgable and friendly, fixed my garage door perfectly and even took the time to show me basic maintenance tips to prevent the issues from happening again. With such amazing customer service, expertise and responsiveness, their rates are more than fair!! Thanks Mickey!
Called asking for a quote on key fob programming (2011 Chevy Malibu) they quoted me $250 for just programming if i bring my own fob to them. I ended up calling around and got it done for $65. I am reading other customer reviews and its become quickly apparent that this company is afloat from naive customers paying 4 times the price of any other locksmith.
Our business moved into a new location and we needed one lock replaced. The fellow was very fast and I told him what I needed done. At the same time the door closer wouldn't pull in the door tight so he said he could just adjust it so I said fine. After about 3 minutes, he was down and when I reviewed the invoice, he charged me $100.00 for that adjustment which took about 3 seconds. I asked him and he went off on all these checks which were ridiculous. I was going to start arguing with him and thought taking it up with customer would be a better idea. So I called and they said that there was nothing they could do but I could email customer service which I did, TWICE and not even a call back. I will NEVER use them again for anything as I just couldn't believe the poor customer service. Make sure if you use them to have an exact quote before they do anything. I had to give them one star as there isn't a spot for ZERO stars.
VERY OVER PRICED.
Their Pricing is HIGHWAY ROBBERY! Had someone come over for 30 minutes to install weather stripping on a door. They never discussed pricing on the weather stripping, and after it was finished I had to eat a $550 bill.. unbelievable.
$225 + disgusting !
Disappointing followup & customer service from a company we have done business with in the past multiple times. Had to give business to another company that was much more responsive.
Went in looking to get a vehicle key cut and programmed, overheard the guy in the back say "Tell him $250 just to try", then someone else came back out front and rudely told me they would not program it period unless I buy the keyfob from them because some of the keyfobs online do not work on Canadian vehicles. The remote was ordered from GM but I did not have my receipt with me, not sure why the rudeness was required but I regret walking in the door and won't be back! I walked into a place down the street and they helped me out no problem whatsoever.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Needed a simple lock component only to be ripped off by more than double the price!! Then while trying to refund the item within the same hour, we had the complete displeasure of being stone walled and refused a refund without a 20% restocking fee. There is absolutely no excuse for the attitude and ignorance of their employee Matt. Pathetic service, disgusting attitude. They do not give a dam about customer relations and to charge a 20% restocking fee for something returned within the hour is absolutely absurd. Although we have 200 doors to service, I would not use this company ever again. No wonder store fronts like this are going out of business!!!
I was quoted $149 for the call and told that parts and excess labour would cost extra and that I couldn't get an exact quote but it shouldn't be too much more unless parts were required. No parts were required. Labour was 10 minutes. I was charged $386.48. They completely avoided transparency and honesty in billing. I was then told that I cannot speak to a manager because he will be mad. The technician and manager spoke on the phone and the technician told me I could just pay the calm fee and they would put the rest as outstanding and send to collections as if that offers any kind of help. I'm absolutely disgusted with the lack of integrity and customer service. I would NEVER use their service again and intend on following through with BBB. There are plenty of more honest smaller companies out there and I would suggest to try them as will probably be more honest. The other quote that I received from another company was $160 plus parts.
They came out about a community mail box problem. He took one look - maybe 10 seconds and pronounced it couldn't be fixed and was going to leave. He wanted $386. I wasn't impressed at all and said we wouldn't be paying without a report at least. I left - he stayed actually and eventually I went back out to find he could actually get the door back on. Nevertheless would NEVER use them again.
Kevin was incredible! He arrived quickly after we had called. He was very professional and friendly, He even fixed our door handle that another locksmith from a different company didn't put back together! If asked I would definitely 100% recommend Kevin from Lock Surgeon!
Do NOT go with this company. The lady who answers their phone and your questions is extremely rude and impatient with any questions that you may have. Secondly, we asked to get an estimate on a door and they didn't ever mention a fee for a quote. When we received the quote it included a $150.00 service fee. I would stay far away from this company and their poor customer service.
They were very friendly but incredibly expensive. To change the lock on my mailbox, they charged me over $400 for less than an hours work. When I asked for a quote prior, they refused to give me any information. I wish i had read these reviews earlier.
Charged $50 more than they quoted. And then 2 years later we need a new key cut, so we head to Canadian Tire to do so, and we're denied because Lock Surgeon wrote down that these keys aren't to be duplicated... so we HAVE to go through them at $12 a key. They didn't bother to ask if this was alright with us. I'll never deal with these scam artists again.
Overpriced and rude. Phoned to ask if they cut keys for a Hyundai Sonata. Service rep says it will be $300-$450 depending on type and they don't take OEM keys bought online. So I reacted and said "well forget that" and they abruptly hung up before I could ask why. I certainly wasn't rude to them so if they record their calls like they say they do, they should probably use this as a training example.
This is by far the worst company I've seen. We called them over and told us it's 1100$+ just to fix 3 locks, and when we didn't want to go through with it they told us we would have to pay 300$ just for them coming over. They never told us the charges for this on the phone call. This is a scam company and no one should never come to them for help. EDIT: Guess what. The new locks they installed doesn't even fit the god damn window. What an amazing service.
Way to much money for a new car key I get it at a dealer for cheaper.
Absolutely the worst value for the service ! Called to retrieve a motorcycle key ,broken in the lock, end up costing over 400 !149 just to come 15 min to the house, less then 10 min job. Unbelievable !
Nobody else could cut this key for me. They did! Thank you!
I was absolutely appalled by the response I got for asking what brands of bike locks they carry when I called in. The owner stated "I am not going to get out of my chair for a dollar, you will have to come see what we have for yourself." Yea, like I'm going to drive across the city to see what brands of bike lock you carry. I have spend over $2000 with your company through my company and i will no longer support people/companies that lack respect and service. Good bye.
Called needing help with my garage door . technician named jay jay extremely helpful and guided me threw fixing my garage door issue.
275$ dollars for BASIC door knob, non emergency LoL Soo... I call them, ask for quote and lady starts asking my adress and name etc. And tell Dave is on his way, hangs up. I call back says i will be at home in 25 min or so she says ok bye, hangs up. So as im pulling on my parking lot Dave calls me and i say look at your mirror. He gets out of his van and opens doors before checking my ID or even before i get out of car. Litterary 10 sec to open basic door knob. And he says i need you Drivers Licence. And tells me its like 256$. I was like wth? he just loughs and says ''keep your key in your pocket man''. I called back and lady just lols at me telling me i never asked for price. And says i can text Service department and complain lol He was in same block 3 km away. charged 150$ for call, 95$ to pick +GST hahaha what a rip off. price check at EDM Locksmith Service 75$+ GST
If I could give 0 I would, DO not use this service, they overcharge and do horrible work. Over $600 for some weather stripping on a door and a hinge adjustment my 10 year old son could have done. Weeks to respond to phone calls or emails and then on contact at all. Not a consumer friendly business. I think they have forgotten about Customer Service.
My go to place to get keys cut! Also, we had trouble with our garage door opener pad and remotes and someone came to help and fixed it, we couldn't have done it without him.
Terrible customer service. Will not be coming back
Went to this location to have a few mail box keys cut and they dont have any prices listed for key cutting services and they do not disclose the price before they cut the keys for you either. I believe honest companies are upfront about the actual price they will be charging you. I ended up being charged $14.95 each key, because they considered them specialty keys. I went today to a different company called Expert lock services and they charged only $4 key I will never recommend this company to anyone. My advice shop your competitors and be honest with your customers, they pay the bills after all... food for thought.
Too faced company. Had really good service and bought a few things from lock surgeon last Saturday but some of the products did not work out and brought it back seven days later. I work weekdays and so I have no chance to go in except for Saturday. I brought two items back and the owners were working and they had a young staff member look after me for the refund. When it was time to put the refund through, the amount was less than the purchase price. They said it was a 20% restocking fee. I did not see it on the wall and it wasn’t a receipt it was over by their computer monitor off to the side. It was NEVER mentioned at all about this policy. They insisted without any discussion as the owners hid behind the young staff member. Because of that I will never buy from them again. I don’t and I hope others don’t get shafted by these this company. I know a large company that stop using them because they’re too expensive and now I know why. There should be a NO STAR rating for this company post service.
I can say they got the job done, but $16 to duplicate a key is ridiculous. Just wish I wasn't so pressed for time, or I would've gone elsewhere. Never going back.
$149 to drive 5 minutes to our shop plus the cost of doing the work for a total bill of $637.41. I was quoted an hour to rekey 2 doors so $194. Then I was told that it took an hour and 5 minutes so they charged an extra $97 for the 5 minutes. The initial $149 fee just to show up should have covered that. Then when it was time to pay, the technician told me that the boss told him to charge per door instead of by the hour. So that added an extra $90 and they still charged for that 5 minutes. You can't charge by the job and by the hour at the same time. So they overcharged me $187. I was only given the detailed bill after I paid. When I brought the mistakes to the technician's attention, he said it was out of his control since the boss sets the price. He said I needed to call the office. Of course I couldn't talk to the boss. According to the reviews, they scam people on a regular bases. They are criminals and shouldn't be allowed to steal from the public. Update: the owner still won't talk to me. I called back and was informed that he says the bill is correct. No decency to call me. They just ignore their customers once they've paid. I've done my good deed. You've been warned. Stay away from these crooks. Please give me a thumbs up if you've also been scammed by these guys. It would be nice to know roughly how many crimes they are getting away with.
First review in my entire life, iam extremely upset and still at the parking lot. Went to Canadian tire to get some spare of my keys they didn't had one of them so they recommended this place. I got 2 keys done at canadian tire ( paid $2.99/ each) and when I was driving to this place I was realized I need one more of the mailbox key...anyway lock surgeon didn't have the key what I was looking for but I thought it okay to get my second spare of my mailbox key here. It's turned out $13.00 for one key!!! When I told them how much I paid just 10 minutes before at Canadian tire they said nothing just claiming that was a really special key! Yes it will be my precious key from now because I paid far too much! I went back right the way with Canadian tire key and receive proving them the rip off, i also told them maybe they want to review they price list. I thought they will going to do something to keep me as a happy customer (like give back my money and say sorry for that or at least offer some solution) but the person was did nothing! Worst customer service experience ever! Never go there again and I will make sure to telling about my experience for everybody who I know!
$120 service call. OK, I knew about that when I called. The technician quoted me $150 for an interior privacy knob. Told me they only use the best products and that nothing else is available. He took 2 screws out of the existing knob so he could see what needed to be done to install a new knob on an old door and charged me $80 labor and $15 mandatory shop supplies. When I called customer service to dispute the charge she told me "Well didn't he tell you about the mandatory charge before he started?" Then told me she doesn't deal with it and I have to email their CSR rep. Paid over $200 for the tech just to look at the door. Avoid this company at all costs.
Great service. Purchased and installed canopy handle and lock assemblies. They did it quickly and they still work a year later. But their website leaves a lot to be desired. Unable to search products. I know they have more products I just can’t view them. Can’t see emails to staff to help serve me either. Gas cost money I’d like to order from my desk.
Service was extremely poor to say the least. Waited almost three months for the job to be done. When I first got the quote, they came to my house and I was told it would be "Prsitine, perfect and sealed." (Was later confronted insisting the contrary) The first time they came back , about a month later, they put in weatherstripping horribly, I had to ask them to re-adjust it. 6 weeks after that point, they finally got my screen door in. I ended up having to fix the weatherstripping myself. 10 weeks total . $2,000+ later , and I would have been better off doing it myself.
Great service and fairly priced. I needed keys cut for my toy hauler so about 12 keys total. They were cut fast and service was friendly. Thank you very much.
Made the mistake of not calling around prior to requesting service. Lock Surgeon said they would be at my place on friday but called saying a truck was down and would send someone out monday. I needed them to replace a mailbox key that I had lost. The locksmith showed up an hour later than quoted, picked the lock and replaced the mailbox lock within probably 5 minutes. I then got a bill for over $300. I had previously gone with dial locksmith (safe world) who's tech showed up, picked the lock and re-cut me two keys on the spot for a little over a hundred for the same lock. I then called around, it seems lock surgeons service call amount is 25-35 dollars ($125 safe world is 95 and no one else quoted me over $100) more than most other companies. Additionally, the amount they charge for parts is 35-50 dollars more as I was quoted 25 to 30 for the lock. My fault really for not calling around first, however, I will not be utilizing their services again due to their astronomical rates.
This place is a rip off. Went in to get a key programmed. I had a key and it was cut already. All I needed was programming. First he quoted me $245 then he wasn't sure. Then he said since you're bringing in a key of your own, we can program it for $195. Like it was a deal. Crazy!! Went to the dealership, they did it for $85. If you're twice the price of the dealership, you're a rip off. Period!!
Unreal prices! $115 only for a key code!!! 10 blocks away - $7 key code
They have extremely poor customer service. I called in for warranty work they claim they have no way to look up my file by phone number company name address or any other means. I have to find their invoice which I will have in my company records but it's ridiculous they can't look it up in their system. They also refused to send out another tech other than the one that came out originally which is why I need to find my invoice apparently. They will not honour their own warranty essentially. I would highly recommend everybody avoid these people. They were extremely snarky and uncooperative. If I could give zero or negative stars I would.
Prices are ridiculous....
Not worth the time!!! I had been looking for a new lock system for a business. Had 3 companies come out and give me an estimate. Not only did Lock Surgeon come out the highest, they also didn’t tell us or say on their website that they charge $150 just to come out to do an estimate for a project. The other companies did not charge for estimates and they were much lower in price for the same work. I called them when their service guy was asking for payment for the estimate and Rita on the phone was NOOOOOO help, basically told us that people are concerned about money they should ask on the phone and they do not tell people this because it is our problem and if we wanted to know we should ask. Sorry but I just built a new business and spent over $400,000.00 doing it with tens of estimates and I was never charged for estimates from plumbers to electricians, to mill workers, a complete build from ground up. AND if they did charge for coming out there would be some indication. Sorry but I think your backwards and you should inform people before you send out a estimator that there is a charge of $150, and he was only there for under 10 minutes.
Bought a "The Door Guardian" door lock here priced at $ 44.70 only to find out later that at Walmart- the same exact lock is priced at $ 19.97. Never felt so robbed in my life. Had I not installed the locks yet I would have returned it back to this store in a heartbeat. For those reading this, do not go into this store to buy your locks. Shop around and it is likely you'll find a cheaper price elsewhere for your household or yard common locks.
Quoted $150 over the phone for site visit and new keys for a cabinet. Locksmith got here and said it'd be $300 and still made us pay the $89 site visit. What a joke.
Fast service, very professional and kind.
I have called Lock Surgeon a few times, all for business use. They may be a bit expensive, but they are good at what they do and do the job correctly the first time. I find the staff to be very courteous and professional as well.
Biggest rip off I have ever experienced ever ! For Calgary Location Walked in to get a mail box key cut, They charged me 16.95 $ to cut a freaking key. Elsewhere it costs mere 4 $. Never Stepping in again....Period
We had technician come and check out our garage door opener that we were having issues with. The guy spent more time writing up the invoice than he did actually looking at our opener. The only solution he provided was to completely replace the actual garage door, the tracks, the opener and the frame. He didn't even take out his tools to see if some jimmying would solve any issues. We essentially paid over a hundred dollars to have someone come out a quote on a job, rather than come out and see what was wrong with our opener. Such a scam.
Prices are too high, but for the quality of work done, it is worth it. If you want a job done right the first time, come here
Needed to buy a new door knob for garage door and have it keyed to our house key. The gentleman led us to the right area, picked out the one we had, gave him our key and a very short time later we were on our way home. Very fast and friendly service and much cheaper than a service call! They are good for those too though :). Would recommend!
Called in to see when they were open for the long weekend and the lady told me they would be open Saturday 9-2pm so I drove out of my way to go there and it was closed!!!! Learn your hours man. Not impressed
Felt cheated. Technician re-keyed two locks. The problem is he did not say how much extra it would cost to take off push bar and replace it until AFTER the work was done. Shame on me for not making sure I knew. In the end it cost $270 more than expected to take out 6 screws and replace them. I could have done that myself. The final price to re-key two locks with 12 keys? $564. That seems a bit high to me. I will give them a miss in the future.
Great store and service. You get what you pay for. YES - THEY CUT CHIP KEYS for the new cars. They carry the American Lock line which is great along with many other quality products. If you are a cheap whiner, stay away, I am so sick of listening to whiners who want a solid gold key for 8 bucks. Go to Walmart if you are cheap.
Went to Lock Surgeon looking for door hardware (door sweep). He advised that they didn't have it on hand but he would look into it and get back to me in a couple of days. A week goes by with no call back. I go back to the store where I was assured (by a different person) that I would be taken care of. Again I was told that they would have to talk to the boss and their suppliers. He said that "if they don't have it nobody will have it". Upon following up in 3 days ( I had to call them) later they advised they couldn't help me. In summary I was treated in a very disrespectful condescending manner. Very dissatisfied with their customer service. BTW I was able to source my door sweep from another shop in the west Edmonton. They provided excellent customer service!
We needed a key for our older Craftsman ride on mower. Could not find one anywhere until someone recommended Lock surgeon. YES, they had the key. Wow, they are Key Gods. Excellent service. If you need a key, this is the place to go. They seem to have many keys that are out of service. If they do not have them, they will find them for you.
I like this company but price is very high, they do job fine but they charged me service call fee $95 and lockout service $150. they are very expensive .
Just had Dale in to re-key my locks in my new house and garage. He was professional, polite, very knowledgeable and I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking for lock work.
Ripoff!!!! This company must pray on naïve people. I called around to get prices for a technician to come to my house to open the door when I was locked out. Everywhere in the city I was getting prices of $80-$150. I called Lock surgeon and was told it would cost me $240. I'm glad I shopped around. Now reading the reviews I feel like I dodged a bullet. I had the door opened by MrMaster for $110. The tech was quick and did not break my lock. There's way better out there in this city. Stay away from Lock Surgeon.
Our key pad lock stopped working after few months. Technician said he will have to replace it w the new one, which I need to pay another $900. He says since its electronic, he can't determine what could be the cause. I told him I would have to think about replacing it. Then he tried pressing in the code again and told me it doesn't even respond, however I see it responded with blue light and told him it is bc I set it to mute mode so my neighbors won't hear it. Then he pushed it w more care then the lock worked again. Then he left shrugging without taking any further responsibility or actions. I am disappointed with this company's lack of knowledge, unclear explanation, unprofessionalism, and especially lack of responsibility despite very high charges they impose. I feel like I am fleeced by this company by paying around $2000 total for the back door + garage door + tip..I would expect some quality customer service since they call themselves 'lock surgeons' with very high charges.
South side shop is well run. Personable workers. Professionally run
The couple of times I tried to bring business there resulted in a waste of my time. On two occasions I brought keys in to cut in which they told me they were planning on ordering the blanks, and just handed me back the key with no expected date of arrival. As well, the friendly levels are pretty low. I opted to get service at Safe World instead.
The price was $150.00 more then their competition. Way to expensive. Stay away.
EDMONTON CITIZEN BEFORE YOU EVEN LOOK AT THIS BUSINESS CHECK THE REVIEWS WORSE BUSINESS TO HIRE, UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME I ACTED AFTER A FLYER FOR THIS BUSINESS CAME TO MY MAIL BOX AND SEEING ALL THE ADVERTISE SEEMS LIKE A DECENT BUSINESS THAT I WILL LIKE TO HIRE. MY HUSBAND CALLED AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS NEEDED AND THE WOMAN WHO ANSWER THE PHONE RIGHT THE WAY TOLD HIM THAT SHE WILL SENT SOMEONE. SHE DID NOT SAID THAT THEY CHARGE $ 133.00 JUST FOR THE VISIT. IF SHE HAD TELL US OF THE CHARGE FOR THE VISIT WE WOULD SEEK FOR OTHER BUSINESS BUT SHE DID NOT SAID NOTHING. I REFUSE TO PAY FOR SOMEONE JUST TO SHOW UP TO MY PLACE AND NOT HAVING WHAT IS NEEDED TO DO THE WORK AFTER TELLING IN DETAILS WHAT EXACTLY WAS NEEDED FOR THE JOB. I AM BEING TREAT TO PUT MY NAME INTO COLLECTION AGENCY. BE AWARE THIS BUSINESS MAKE MONEY ON SENDING PEOPLE TO YOUR DOOR AND THEN SENDING COLLECTION AGENCIES WHEN YOU REFUSE TO PAY FOR THE VISIT THEY HAVE AN AVERAGE OF 2 CUSTOMERS A WEEK IN THE SAME SITUATION AS MYSELF. THIS BUSINESS NEEDS TO BE OUT BUSINESS FOR GOOD TO STOP REAPING OFF HARD WORKING EDMONTONIANS. AND I RATE 1 STAR JUST BECAUSE WITHOUT STAR I CAN'T POST MY REVIEW BUT MY RATE IS ZERO
It is sad to say exactly what this company is all about. It clearly doesn't care about the business it's providing to average decent customers, so therefore their main interest must be in something else. Not only are they still in business which is remarkable considering the large number of complaints, but they seem completely unfazed about this serious problem. The only group of businesses that behaves like this and don't have a care in the world about their clientele is the drug trafficking business where they make money and profits no matter what type of service they provide (in their undercover business ie-locksmiths). I'm just saying what I've noticed and experienced.
Very helpful, experienced staff purchased all that I needed.
Patrick and his team were very knowledgeable and went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me out with my ignition problem. Definitely recommend them if you have an issue. Solid group of guys. ????
Called about getting a remote key fob programmed for my vehicle. After talking to the guy on the phone he told me maybe it would be best if I brought the vehicle in so he could have a better look or idea. Drove 45k to get to this place one way only to be told it would cost between $150 to $400 without even looking at my vehicle. Why the hell couldn't he have told me the price over the phone to begin with. Total waste of time out of my day. Would not recommend these clowns to anyone.
we contacted the Lock Surgeon for a service call to replace a doorknob and lock. The technician completed the work in about one hour, including the time he was on phone with his office . we were charged $97.50 for coming in the door and talking to us what need to be done and gathering the tools. In addition, we were charged $149 for the service call, which we were not informed about when our maintenance technician called Lock Surgeon. we end up spending $476.93 (not including the cost of lock provided to them , a massive overcharge for a very simple lock change job. I would not recommend the Lock Surgeon to anyone unless they have deep pockets.
Be carefully this people is ripup you be care full. They fix one key charge price this price please never trust this people.look the photo.
Very unprofessional and unacomidating. Had billing issues and spoke to Josh the Manager. Laughed at my questions and then hung up on me!?
I should have looked closer at reviews but I was more concerned with time/availability. For a single key cut to a lock was over 300$!! I highly recommend finding another locksmith.
Great staff, friendly and very helpful
On the upside, very nice technician sent to my home; on the downside, very expensive. Unreal.
Great service! We moved into a new place and had to get the locks re-keyed. The keys were labelled Lock Surgeon Mul-t-lock so I called and asked them how to do it and what paperwork I would need to bring in to prove ownership. I couldn't believe how easy it was to get new keys issued and they automatically reset the locks so that any previous keys won't fit anymore. That's peace of mind that is worth every penny. The people at the store were very helpful - even offered coffee and water while I waited. Some people have said they are expensive, but you get what you pay for!
After our key broke in the deadbolt, we called them to come out. They replace the deadbolt and somehow cut the wires on our keyless entry which they shouldve even touched. When we called them on it they said it must have been us and refused to take responsibility.
I was just there to buy a few keys and I got terrible customer service. The man that dealt with me at first was very rude and unprofessional and embarrassed another employee in front of me. I was really not impressed and will not be returning to this location.
Do NOT use Lock Surgeon unless you have money to burn! I called them to fix a window lock that had broken off, and was quoted $150 for the service fee and was told "we would see when we get there" what the other charges would be. The total charge was almost $450 - $50 for the actual lock, $200 for the labour (about ten minutes of work was actually done), $30 dollars for shop supplies (I was in the room with him the entire time and he didn't use any of them), the quoted $150 service fee, and $20 in GST. Absolutely appalling. Another window lock of mine recently broke off and, instead of calling Lock Surgeon, I spent $25 on buying a new window lock at All Glass Parts in northwest Edmonton, and it took a total of about 30 minutes to remove the old lock and replace it with the new one, and all I needed was a screwdriver. Will NEVER be calling on Lock Surgeon again!
Got a commercial building here and had a budget of $5k+ to spend. We just needed a quotation for a few commercial doors; they charged us $276 to stop by and look. As they charge a truck fee, and Kevin decided to charge 30 minutes of labour to quote. This is poor business practice. I don't really care about $276 but what a joke this business is.
STAY AWAY FROM LOCK SURGEON!! Their business model relies on fleecing naïve customers. At no point was there an indication of a ($150!!!) base charge for at-home service. Not on the website. Not from the dispatcher. Not from the technician. It was only after they did the work (a 20 second kickplate adjustment) that they hit us with the bill. It’s no wonder these guys were given an injunction for unfair trade practices! GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE!!
Called for a quote to get a key cut for my car and was basically told to take my business elsewhere. Horrible customer service.
Worst service ever. There technician kevin is so rude. First of all they have no communication between the office people & the technician. Gave me a wrong quote. Then while we are discussing how to make it better, just hangs up the phone on me. I would never ever let them have any business from the people i know.
They continually exceed my expectations. When they say they are going to be onsite they are always on time or early. Friendly professional service.
Adding to the list. BIGGEST RIP OFF OF 2021. For a job which should cost less than $40 they charge you 3 times. Talks all BS and tries to make it a big deal. STAY AWAY!!!!!
Inflated pricing. I phoned inquiring getting key cyclinders for a ford cargo van. The staff member said that do not carry that cyclinder but they would install it for me if I bought it. They quoted me $250.00 per cylinder supplied by me for an installation rate. I am not an expert at locksmithing but I can replace the cyclinders in 30 minutes using basic hand tools and some googling searching. 1000.00 profit for 30 minutes of work? I am a business owner and I expect to make money but I don't go out and actively gouge my clients. I checked with a competitor and they charge out at 70.00 per key. I would steer clear.
Guys were the best and I really appreciate the service. Patrick and his team were quick to respond to get my Nissan keys programmed when I had to go to work .
If i could give a negative star i would. Crazy expensive! Not forthcoming about pricing when asked about a quote prior to the house call. Then charging obscenely for the little work that was done. Technician showed up and was professional, just wildly expensive as i could have replaced all the locks for what it cost to re-key them. Would not recommend to anyone
I contacted the Lock Surgeon for a service call to replace a doorknob and lock. The technician completed the work in about one hour, including half an hour for him to drive to and from his shop to pick up a part and ten minutes to write up the bill. Yet I was charged a full hour for the drive plus a half hour for the on-site work. In addition, I was charged $149 for the service call, which I was not informed about when I called Lock Surgeon. The company did not deduct the charge from my bill which would be a normal business practice. It took the technician only about fifteen minutes to drive to my house. I ended up spending about $475 (not including the cost of the part) for 1.25 hours of work and travel on a job, a massive overcharge for a very simple job. The company only responded to my complaint about the bill after I contacted the Better Business Bureau. Their response was cavalier and showed no respect for the client. I would not recommend the Lock Surgeon to anyone unless they have deep pockets.
Paid $100.00 for two keys to be cut for truck tool box - Ridiculous No reason that should cost that !
Arrived quick.
Absolutely horrible. He DIDN'T DO ANYTHING! Was on his phone for 40 minutes then handed me a bill for $275. I called their customer service and listened to a 10 minutes automated rambling and got nowhere with a resolution. What is this fraud?
Wow, I needed 2 locks replaced from a multi unit mailbox and the final bill came out to 5 times the cost of the locks. I realize someone came to replace the lock and took all of 15 minutes to do, but to charge this absurb, unconscionable markup for such a small job is really staggering?!? WILL NEVER CALL LOCK SURGEON AGAIN TO DO ANYTHING!!
Awful people - west location
Outstanding customer service and very knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend for all your lock/security needs. Pat and Rick are very good at what they do.
Fast and knowledgeable!
The cost was outrageous for cutting a key I provided! Never coming back.
My work safe malfunctioned and couldn't be opened. I called them to open the safe because thats who we have for vendor. Never again I will call them. The "technician" came and took a look at the safe. He had no idea how to fix open it. Phoned his supervisor to get helped which took atleast 45 minutes to helped him because he was took busy with another customer. Which at the time we were still getting billed. Once supervisor was able to helped him. He suggested to call the lock manufacturer to helped him open the safe which took 20 mins which we were still in the clock. Once he got the information via email technician proceeded to open the safe with a COAT HANGAR while using YOUTUBE for guide! If you use YouTube to helped you do your job theres something wrong. I don't know how long this job would've been if weren't for one of the board members to come and say he had a key to the safe. Yes it's was our fault for not knowing that we had one of the safe key. We paid the invoice without question. The service they provided was terrible 2 hours laboured bill which I think 1.5 hours waiting for help and 30 mins trying to open the safe with a coat hanger. Never again I will be calling lock surgeon.
No stars- I phoned to get a basic quote for re-keying 3 residential locks while in comparison to other locksmiths in the Edmonton area. "Rita", gave me a quote that was almost 2.5 times HIGHER for this service than their competitors. When I commented on the same she said that her competitors were "desperate and they were not". I found this statement to be blatantly rude and unprofessional. It appears that while they overcharge customers for this basic service, that the desperation is with them- and to also insult the free market competitors poor practice. I am taking my business to a direct competitor, who politely provided me the information I needed to solve my lock issue with cost effectiveness and professionalism. Shop around- Lock Surgeon may not be your best choice for your money, they definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.
Thank you fellow reviewers for helping others and keeping them away from these robbers. Since the owner gave us names of the companies they deal with in below response, I will be contacting these businesses directly and asking them to review this page and think who they are dealing with.
I got 2 locks keyd for my office they charged $570.00 when I got a quote they told me 350.00 crooks. Absolutely robed me do not use this company.
My garage door broke. Called these guys and boom 30min later he was there. Not only did my tech fix the problem he improved the door by properly aligning the door. Now works better then ever. Cheers bud.
Unforeseen and inexplicable charges. Very disappointed.
outrageous prices. went to get 2 copies of a key, when presented with bill was $16.95 (each) for simple copying of a key that took about 1 minute to do. When asked why so high, clerk said 'that's the price'. When I got back to my car, I checked against my receipt from home depot 2 days before where I got other key copied, was$ 3.98 each at home depot. This place has really gone downhill from what I remember a few years ago, am never coming back.
Called for a quote on a door repair. Installer showed up gave us a quote, did a small service on the existing door hinges and left us a bill for $368. No problem with the installer, he was great. He turned over the hinge which took about 5 minutes and sprayed a little lube. Bill was for $149 service fee, $195 for 1 hour at their hourly rate, and $24 shop supplies for the squirt of lube! I wonder how many hundreds of dollars that $10 can of lube makes! Called customer service, but they offered me nothing and maintained the bill was correct and fair. So the company made $368 to do a quote! I'm in the wrong business!!!
i stopped into the west end store to get two house keys cut, the person said nothing of the price per key took my key came back and then asked for $ 35.00 , I asked what 35 dollars was for and was told for the two keys, I asked why and she said because they are 17.00 each. if you want to pay overpriced charges for a key then go here other wise stay away. You can get the same key cut at Canadian Tire for $3.00 Poor customer service worst i have ever seen. I would have given it a half star if I could have.
Lock Surgeon came to our home today and fixed our door quickly and for a reasonable price. The locksmith, Dale, was friendly, neat and tidy, knowledgeable and professional. We have used Lock Surgeon before and have had only good service from them, we recommend them highly.
This company is a joke! Called for a safe repair and prior to, put BRAND NEW BATTERIES in the locking mechanism of my safe. Upon arrival, the technician told me the batteries (that were brand new from the box) didn't have a full charge. Put another round of new batteries in the locking mechanism and it worked. Wanted to charge me almost $400 for 10 minutes of work. I told the technician that was ridiculous! I asked the technician to phone and see about a getting a better price, under the circumstance and apparently the guy on the other end of the phone who he talked to didn't care about the time it took or any sort of customer service and told them to charge me and didn't care if we ever came back as a customer or not. This company had brutal customer service!
The locksmith was there. 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon the bill was 413.00
Receptionist was extremely rude, I refused to use this company solely because of her. I don't need to be treated like that from anyone. They also increased their service call out fee to $149. Lots of other places to choose from
Great service. Had lock surgeon install new locks on my house in Calgary. After about 6 months I came home and was locked out because the handle would not open. It was 8 at night and snowing. I called there on call service and found out they had no technicians available asap to help me. It was going to be 11 at night till they could get there. I accepted the time slot and was waiting no more then 15 minutes when I got a call from one of the managers. He said that his dispatcher called him and was informed of the situation. He let me know that he was just finishing up a meeting and would be on his way to help. About 45 minutes later he showed up, got me into the house and made a little adjustment to my door hinges that had caused the lock to get jammed. He did not charge me but rather thanked me for calling in and letting them help me. Thank you so much Josh.
Complete lack of price transparency, Service technician was great but prices are outrageous. I'd never use them again.
a minute ago Very bad service the manager does not want to fix warranty work and is very unprofessional I was told if I dont like it find another company to fix the job that he refused to complete properly save yourself time and just get another company to do the job properly and you won’t have to go through the hassle I did !!
The guy that installed our lock was great. However, we dealt with Rita in the office she was very rude and unprofessional, during a difficult time her mannerism was horrible and automatically built a horrible atmosphere when the guy came to our office. Our response was hard luck in our situation and we certainty would not recommend this company on how they treat their clients.
Outrageous charge of $1,500.00 to instal a high security deadbolt and entry knob in an emergency situation. Find someone else to do the job.
Very Expensive
Talk about over charging. They charged over 4 times the retail price for an outside lock. Plus service call and time the whole bill came to nearly $1000 for less than $200 retail for parts. Buyer beware. I won't be calling them back ever.
Good service & experience guys
$35 to cut a motorcycle, total rip off, other locksmiths charge as low as $8. When asked why they charge so much, they hang up on you
They took advantage of my elderly mother, charging her absolutely excessive fees for such things as cleaning their vehicle, using a payment acceptance device, and requiring a paper towel. Despicable!
We called Lock Surgeon Calgary inquiring about getting an estimate on a door lock after receiving a flyer in the mail. There was no mention on the flyer or the initial call about charging a fee for estimates. Had this information been provided, we would not have agreed to go further with this company. To our surprise, a few months after the estimate was done, we received an invoice from this company with a charge for the estimate. The fact that this company has so many similar complaints on the BBB is a strong indication that they do not clearly communicate this information on the phone to potential customers which shows they act in bad faith. Highly encourage avoiding this company!
Way way way overpriced, 400 to open a door and 950 change a lock, good luck you guys, stay away from these people.
I give Lock Surgeon in Calgary 5 stars. The gentleman that came to help us with our problematic front door was respectful, kind, and very professional. He fixed it the first time then due to no fault of his we needed him again and our problem has been solved! I would recommend them.
Amazing service by the technicians in the building. They helped me with all my needs. However the owner or manager that was there treated his employees like dirt. Actually calling them idiots and swearing in front of myself and other customers. Incredibly unprofessional.
Terrible customer service. The lady was rude and not helpful at all on the phone. They wouldn't give me any sort of quote or direction on the phone in regards to my lock situation and was told id have to pay a fee of $150 to even get someone out to take a look at it. I will take my business else where and to someone that seems more interested in helping me out and not someone who just says it will cost several hundred dollars to re-key. FYI as a business owner I am aware it will be a big cost and several hundreds of dollars to change. You guys obviously aren't that excited to take my hundreds of dollars to re-key. super disappointed but glad I found out in the early stages that the service was terrible.
Lock Surgeon did a great job of getting extra keys cut for my business in a timely manner.
The worst reception I have ever met. Rude, nasty and despicable. If there is no stars I will put
Helpful and professional service. This was my 7th attempt at getting a key cut and I was in and out with a perfect fit in less than 10 minutes. Staff was excellent.
Poor customer service, no backing on the warranty that isn't written any place, most expensive lock company in Edmonton. Would not recommend them to anyone. Last time I use them for anything.
We had Lock Surgeon out to replace a door closer on a storm door. We were charged $97.50 just for them to come out and tell us it was broken. Which we already knew, that's why we called. Then they charged over double the cost to supply the closer, and another $149 just to install a new door closer. 2 Screws is all it was. And then they somehow needed an extra $21.93 for shop supplies. Total cost ended up being $352.03. Definitely do not even call Lock Surgeon. They are not worth it for the price. Find anyone else.
These guys are a prime example of using covid as an excuse to screw whoever is unlucky enough to walk through the door. I got 2 small golf cart keys cut and was told that will be $41.90. Turned 2 $.50 blanks into $40.00 in 2 minutes. I wonder if they realize how many customers that lost them. If anyone wants to see the invoice and the keys I would be happy to share it as I know it is hard to believe.
What a professional company. Lady on the phone got a locksmith out to me same day. Technician was friendly, knowledgable and even left me with a frizbee for my kids. Price was good. I would say it was the best experience we ever had with a service company. Great job guys
RIP OFF!!! Wish I had read these reviews before getting robbed. I will make sure I tell everyone I know to stay away from them.
What a mistake I made coming here. I should have looked at the reviews before I ever wasted my time. If I could give them a zero I would have. I needed to get my truck canopy rekeyed because I bought it used and there were no keys. Lock Surgeon said they could help and the price quoted was reasonable. I brought my truck to their location and their tech removed the lock so they could make a key. We got a call a few hours later stating that they couldn’t rekey it. We returned and they put the lock back on and then they proceeded to charge me $70 for their time. What about my wasted time and I had to pay for what... absolutely nothing! So much for thinking they were the experts. Go somewhere else! You don’t get a 2 star average on google with over 200 reviews if it’s not true. I’ll never make that mistake again.
Literally the worse service i have ever recieved from an office administrator. She was rude and not understanding. Refusing to "rehash" anything that i was told earlier from the quote of my vehicle ignition being fixed. Along with this arguing to me about what the technician who worked on the car initially told me. Thus increasing the price from the initial quote to being doubled for NO WORK BEING DONE TO THE CAR. Since there was nothing they could do. i would give no stars if possible and will be contacting who ever i can about this horrible service.
My boyfriend took my key in to try getting copies cut for me, I'd tried previously at other places and never got a good key. Lock surgeon cut a few and they all work better than the original. Saved me alot of money not having to replace my locks.
Horrible customer service. The man who answered the phone was extremely rude when I asked for a simple quote. He then proceeded to hang up on me. I called back thinking he may have hung up by mistake, and he again refused to help me and hung up the phone for a second time. I wouldn't recommend calling, there is a very good reason this company only has two stars and horrible ratings. Worst businessman I've come across in a long time.
Cost $420 to unlock a regular knob. Total ripoff! Should have just went to home depot, rent a drill and get it done myself if I have known I'll be charged that much for a 10-min job. Never again!
These guys were great, popped in to ask about getting some mis-cut keys to make a keychain for my little guy, he loves keys. The guys gave me an assorted box of keys with some International ignition keys, which are his favourite. Definitely will use Lock Surgeon for our lock needs.
They totally gouged us. Lock Surgeon charged $1,331.00 for 2 hours labour to install a door strike that was provided. Who makes that much money for 2 hours labour? My last lawyer charged less per hour then these guys do. I will warn everyone I know about these guys. Shop around these guys think very highly of them selves. Very dissapointing and they didn't even do that good a job. The Screws were falling out of the holes because they were smaller then the hole.
Terrible technician with terrible customer services. The technician name Kevin was late for 4hrs without saying sorry. Also they are too experience for terrible customer services
efficient but overpriced. got same thing done for half the price elsewhere
Had a common key cut in store, $16 ! They couldn't supply a simple part. I requested a receipt as it was a business expense and was told the till receipt was all I could get. I was then ignored as if I wasn't there. Not to worry, I never will be again.
DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY.I had them come in to look at a small safe that we thought the door was not functioning on. We had the safe door open and the back was already off the door exposing all the moving parts - it took the service person about 20 minutes to tell me that there was nothing wrong with the function so he sprayed some WD 40 on the moving parts (getting the over spray all over the carpet because he did not put anything on the carpet before he sprayed) took the door panel and put four screws back into it and then charged me $329.00 for the call. I too run a small business and know that if I hosed people like this I would not be in business for long. Shame on you Lock Surgeon for ripping off people - I am surprised that you are still in business. I too should have read the reviews on line before I called so shame on me - but you can be sure I will never use your service again and will make sure that anyone that mentions the need for a lock smith to me will be advised not to use you as well.
Very good service. Was greeted both times as I walked in and helped quickly. Only once did I have to return for keys that weren't cut properly and had two representatives helping me and apologize. Friendly and helpful staff, will come back to this store as they are very professional and friendly to all customers.
I got good advice without any pushy up selling. Job was done professionally and promptly. The technician was friendly and helpful.
Greasiest service I have ever dealt with in 5 years of being in the contracting industry. Charged me $400 for 15 minutes for changing the guts on one lock at my residential property. I have never felt so taken advantage of.
So I called lock surgeon today Friday morning on May 8 before the long weekend. So Dale your lock surgeon specialist give me a coat of $280 for the part and labour came did the job but it was not $280 it was $490 for the same one part and charge me $43 to use a screwdriver as shop miscellaneous . Dale started giving me attitude saying it’s Friday and it’s a long weekend . Friday is not a long weekend . I told Dale that Monday Victoria day is the holiday not Friday rip off day . The whole entire Time to change the door lock was no more than a half an hour for $500 you guys should be ashamed of yourself how do you guys sleep at night ripping off people No conscious or whatsoever . I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Knowledgeable, efficient service in Calgary. (I see the bad reviews for Edmonton but the Calgary service was great.) They knew how to service my doors, which are quite unusual in Calgary (triple locking device), and took the time to make sure it was done properly so I wouldn't have a problem again. And then made sure all the rest were working well without an extra charge.
The tech Jason came to look at two door knob locks because they were sticky. On one of the doors there are two locks but out of the two locks one worked fine, and one had an issue. On this door, when he left, both locks stopped working properly leaving 3/2 locks not working instead of the two locks that we asked him to fix. Jason ended up coming back to our office again and billed us around $400. After the second consultation all three locks did not work.So we called him to come back a third time. When he came back the third time we asked him why the one lock that worked at the beginning does not work now. At this point he began lying saying he never touched the specific lock even though it says he did in the invoice. During this call he became very unprofessional and rude to the people that worked here. Everything that he touched not only has not been fixed but is now in a worsen state and he seemed indifferent to the whole situation. To fix the lock that worked at the before he showed up he quoted us another $552. He is the worst service call we have ever experienced on anything.
i was told the charge is 150/- but was charged 515.00 .. its a complete rip off, they lie about total services quote and there is a huge discrepancy in total bill charged.... will never use or suggest there services again
Be very careful when you phone and ask for a quote. It costs $149 for someone to come to your house plus labour. That's normal. But even though the 'labour' cost could have been easily calculated over the phone the girl did not give a price estimate. The cost was over $800 for our job and we had to decline. So instead we paid $149 for a guy to come to our house and then go away. I'm really burned about that because it was totally avoidable! If it's your job to schedule jobs & give price quotes, you should respect that customers have to pay that fee & price matters. Thanks for nothing, Lock Surgeon.
showed up to replace door at my house instead of replacing the door they screwed in the peice that broke off and charged me 400 dollars. i was sleepin and gf didnt realise she was gettin ripped off . disgusted 400 dollars to screw 3 screws when a new door is 125 dollars and now no one there will take my calls.DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY poor customer service and a staff of junkies
JJ was very knowledgeable and fixed the issue right away. Would highly recommend!
Not good with products they sell I would not recommend buying locks from them
It has been YEARS since I have seen service like this company provides!! There was no $$ in the Representatives eyes. No anxiety about up-selling and closing a sale...just genuine, sincere SERVICE! The parts I was looking at were even brought in from outside to warm up so I wouldn't have to get my hands cold if I made a purchase! Who does that anymore... The Lock Surgeon does! Although I did not make a purchase the day I was there, they can be assured that I'll be back when the time to buy arrives! I would sincerely recommend a visit to this business by one and all. If for no other reason but to just enjoy the experience from people who actually appreciate your interest in what they have to offer. If you work for or own a company and are interested in attracting and retaining Customers, or you are in charge of dealing with complaints, visit The Lock Surgeon! It's a great example of SERVICE WITH A SMILE!
Go here for key cutting only if you are rich and don’t care how much things cost. I got 10 small keys cut and they charged me $8/key. I called Action Security and they said their charge was $3/key. When I called Lock Surgeon to ask why they just said “that’s the charge” and then hung up on me. Never again! There are lots of good options.
Quick service
I went into the west end Edmonton location today at approx. 1:10 this afternoon to get a single key cut. There were 2 customers in front of me. The one individual was cutting keys. Another employee walked past me, did not acknowledge me or ask me what i needed. After 15 minutes, one of the aforementioned customers told me that he had them cutting 15 keys. The employee who ignored me came back and sat at a desk by customer service and again ignored me. The customer approached the employee and advised him that I had not been helped yet. The employee told the customer that he had one driver he was getting material for and that I would be next. The employee did not even look at me. I waited another ten minutes and then advised the employee that i would take my business elsewhere as i had yet to even be acknowledged. He gave a flippant answer. I asked to speak to a manager and he identified himself as one of two managers. I advised him his customer service skills are extremely poor. He invited me to leave and that with my attitude, he did not want my business. As I was leaving, a customer who had entered the building told me that this employee had a bad attitude with him as well. I will not ever be back to this organization again. Lousy customer service!
I feel as though my mom was taken advantage of. They charged her $452 to install a single deadbolt. She said the locksmith was there for well under an hour (including a LONG bathroom break) and didn't realize it would be so expensive until she saw the final bill. There's doubled up charges on the invoice and big mark up on the hardware. They charged more for the locksmith to travel than to actually do the job. After seeing all these reviews, it makes sense why Rita in accounting was such a sour person to deal with. She must be swamped with similar complaints all day long. Your best bet is to NOT use Lock Surgeon. Be especially aware if you're a female senior. Don't let them take advantage of you!
I visited Lock Surgeon last week because I needed a key cut from a code on a simple RV lock. The code is widely available online, it's a very simple key, and I brought one of the locks with me to verify. I should say, I used to have an account at Lock Surgeon many years ago in their old (Mayfield) location, and they were pleasant to deal with and priced fairly. The technician looked at my lock, identified the key required, and suggested that I replace all the locks on my RV, at a cost of close to $1000. Huh? When instead I just asked him to cut me the key, and I'd take a chance that the locks worked, he eventually agreed, but said it would cost "at least $150 for the first key, and $25 for each additional key." I declined, drove ten minutes to another locksmith, explained my situation, and left a few minutes later with a fresh key that functioned perfectly. Total cost? $11.53 including tax. He said if I needed more copies they'd cost me $4.95 each. For the record, the exact cut keys required are widely available online for about $6.00 each plus shipping, but I needed them more quickly, hence the trip to the locksmith. My experience at locksmith #2 means I'll never bother going online to look again, these guys were amazing (I'll leave a separate review for them) Lock Surgeon must be in a desperate financial situation if they're trying to get away with these outrageous prices. My advice? Read these reviews, and hire a different locksmith.
Installed a very over priced door handle that lasted 3 months. After it broke I called and they can only find a record of the service call via invoice number. Cant use your phone number or address to look it up. Hostile customer service and really didnt want to fix the problem. They got my $450 to unlock and install a $40 lock so i dont think they cared much.
Stay away!!! Major scam technician who doesn't know what he is doing! Called after hours for a temporary fix for a bent door until new doors come. All the "technician" did was change some hinges, and a lock. Guess how much it cost? $1500. Yes, you read it right: $1500! Apparently, swinging the door was considered "checking of hinges" which was extra cost. There was also separate cost for test the lock. On top there was service call cost, after hour cost. All these costs were a few hundred dollars each. JUST TO CHANGE SOME HINGES!!!! Fortunate thing was it wasn't our fault but a delivery driver's fault. They ended up having to pay me back, which was lucky for us, and not for them!! Worst thing: This guy talked to himself non-stop, and didn't even install the hinge right!! We used another real professional door company to replace our doors, and they told me this Lock Surgeon "technician" inserted the outdoor hinge from the bottom instead the top. The real technician from the other company said this kind of wrong installation will result in rain water collecting and then rusting!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE way of running business for Lock Surgeon!! DO NOT HIRE!!!!!!!!!
1)The following event, a real wake-up call, occurred 09/14/2018. Our apartment Lock system, Kaba, due to "patent" had been tied with the Lock Surgeon for more than 19 years, though we disliked their extremely high charge for service. 2)The female clerk, 0012, made 6 Kaba keys at $30 each, which did not work. She refused to repair, or to refund, but attempted to blame our locks/cylinder problems. However, all the locks/cylinders were also provided by them to fit keys. 3)Facing their unreasonable refusal, and severe damage/consequence to our business(several locks and several dozens of Kaba keys had to be replaced), I loudly addressed their business responsibility. A co-worker in the Lock Surgeon store, without disclosing his name and position after my repeated request, roughly, forcefully, pushed me, a Canadian senior, Ph. D., Canada-US business-owner/director, 19 years-their business customer, out of the store.
One of the biggest rip off places I've ever been in my life they wanted $95 to cut a key from a key code and I got it done at Action locksmith for $7 they wonder why they got a 2.3 rating right now what a joke the lock surgeon is I will never go back there greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy greedy that's what you guys are
Great Service!!! Patrick and the staff were quick to help and get me out the door. The price was exactly what they quoted over the phone. They cut me 2 new keys and my truck starts like the day it rolled off the lot.
Went to get keys cut. Absolute rip off. 15$ per key for ordinary keys that other places do for 3$. Don’t go within a mile of this place. No wonder so many very bad reviews. I was stupid once. Never again. It’s easy to see why they are so many horrible reviews. Never deal with place.
I requested a service call to open a padlock. When I called I spoke with Rita and was quoted $149.00. Which I understood to include the service call and some time on site. The technician arrived and as was unable to pick the lock so rather than cost more time I had him drill it out. The process took less that 30 minutes. The technician then did up his invoice which took another 15 minutes so a total of 45 minutes on site. I was invoiced another $159 PLUS $21.56 for shop and truck supplies. total $346.04. I called the following day and asked to speak to a manager. They sent me back to Rita who said she would never quote any prices because she does not know what they are going to do, so she couldn't have given me any prices. I run a service business I know what my costs are per hour and what I need to charge parts are always extra. How is it that the technician can know what to charge or does he just make it up. He never said oh if I do this it will cost so much, or if I do something else it will be a different price. I was never given an option. Rita's response to asking to speak to someone about this was I need to email a complaint to their complaint department, as they do not take calls, so basically it is going nowhere. I then asked to hear the tape as they say they are recording your call. Rita says she can't do that she is not a tech again stonewalled. I read ta review that said to watch for this and I thought I had by asking for pricing before getting them to do the job, but they still got me. Profit is not a bad thing but this is gouging with a capital G.
If you want to throw your hard earned dollar away, if so, go get your keys cut that don’t even work to west ed store on 118th. I took my business to them to have a broken mail box key duplicated. Went there twice and they kept handing me keys that didn’t work. Tried to get my money back. They refused to return my money. I was told by their Calgary office I had to bring my reciept in and I would be reimbursed. People don’t do business with these crooks.
Call them to repair a small lock, (literally small lock for a file cabinet), and I was charged $350. My jaw dropped. What a bad move from my part to not read the reviews first. Funny, last week got another locksmith for a different problem, big lock on the door, which charged me $140 with new lock included. Call them to ask about the price. "Yap, price is correct." Ok, I am not going to use their services anymore.
Had a basic non chipped key cut and was charged $35. Got the same key cut at another place after realizing maybe I should have two spares and they charged me $5. Both start the vehicle?
Very pricey
I agree with all the one star reviews.. This place is a rip off and the waist of skin called staff are rude. To top it off the 20% return fee that they have is what's allowing the owner of the place to live in mexico.. My advice is to shop somewhere else. their prices are astronomical compared with everyone else in the business. take my advice don't shop there
They charged emergency price ,when advised no emergency.Does not leave invoice at end of call.Took me 3 calles to get invoice emailed.I filed a complaint about overcharging,This is what I get"Please note that response time for this mailbox is typically between 4-20 business days" WHAT company takes 20 days to respond, a terrible one I'm on day 19.Steer clear ! 90 days later same issue ,and they do not warranty their work !!!
Great service. Highly recommend. Accommodated my schedule, called ahead like they said they would, showed up on time and did a great job. Had them rekey some locks and install some upgraded locks. They also adjusted my door so it closes correctly. Opens and closes nice and smooth now. Oh and made keys to a file cabinet and my tool box.
We had some concerns with their services before but they resolved our issues.
I've been using Lock Surgeon located on the West end of Edmonton for 4 years, personally and professionally for the company I work for. That came to a stop with 1 phone call with their dispatcher Rita. The company I work for, all their locations and I personally won't be using them in the future as long as Rita is with the company. The other disappointment that came out of this after being treated so bad by Rita was there is no contact to Ownership or Management. It would have been nice to talk to someone about my experience rather than have to post a Google review.
I just stopped in to get some keys cut and price a new door knob and Matt helped me out. He was friendly, knowledgable, and patient. He also kindly gave me a run though on how to install my new door knob. Matt is a total pro, and I appreciated his fantastic friendly service!
Just left there... with all the promotional items I get from them and the unique lock inflatables outside thought they will be as much welcoming inside... the technician behind the counter barely talked to me and he did his best to push me till next week or for another technician. ... noway am coming back.... for the owner you have unique business but costumer service above all... just saying
I had spent $1400 on deadlocks and door handles for our new house. They were very nice people at the store in the westend. Found out I needed a different end on the deadbolts, so that cost me over $300 again. I called them to see if I could sell them back the parts we couldn't use & the guy took my name & number a week ago & said they would call me right back. Haven't heard a thing. That is not good customer service.
Jo the ginger was friendly and helpful. Tsk.
Stay far away from this company! Extremely overpriced services and products. Would be cheaper to break a window and replace it to get into your garage than pay these guys their overinflated service charges and locks!
Friendly, knowledgable service, in a timely manner, and at a fair price. I was looking for a Lock Set with a five inch setback, which apparently does not exist anymore, but Lock Surgeon had exactly what I needed when most other places did not. I would highly recommend this business and I will use their services again in the future.
I was served by Patrick at the Lock Surgeon at 17812-118 Ave. He was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. While waiting for my car key to be cut, and listening to other customer's inquiries, I can say that all the employees there really know their stuff. They also have excellent Covid practices in place.
Over Price Service and Product. Don't waste your time and do it your self. $200 passage knob which at lowes is $60 bucks.
Worse place to get a truck key took them way too long to cut it and broke my key ignition cylinder
Horrific company to deal with borderline fraudulent. Was charged over 700$! to repair a front door. Was never told about the "truck rolling fee" of 149$. This is on top on the outrageous fees and hourly rates. I paid the bill in good faith and now have a warranty issue. technician came out today and said they would need to CHARGE ME AGAIN if I wanted it fixed. Stay far away from this company or there related interests BE COOL, DOOR SURGEON. I will be contacting the Consumer protection and fair trade offices to file a complaint and I suggest anyone that has had the misfortune of being ripped off by this company do the same.
The staff member who helped us was very knowledgeable and found what we needed right away.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They automatically charge $149 just to show up and then charge $195/hour for any work done. They are extremely over priced and so I filed a complaint and received an email saying they would investigate and get back to me between 4 - 20 days and it has been over 40 days and I still haven't heard from them.
I am almost at a loss for words how disgusted I am with how I have been treated at the Lock Surgeon Edmonton I was quoted one estimated price and charged far more than double. Josh the manager didn't care that I had 5 quotes for the exact same product. He wouldn't take my calls even though he assured me he'd get back to me. I had to go down to their location and deal with them face to face. The owner doesn't seem to care whether or not he has customers he said "I can run my business how I like and charge what I like" I have been in sales my entire career and never have I been treated so terribly. If you decide to do business with these crooks I would get a quote in writing because their word means nothing. Edmonton Lock and Safe would be a better choice!! Also, I do regret not reading the review on both google, yelp and BBB as it would seem I am not alone in my experience.
I was considering stopping in at Lock Surgeon to look at a few products. Then I started reading the reviews....lots of them...one star reviews (over 200) of people being ripped off by this company. 2 out if 5 star averages is unheard of yet Lock Surgeon seems to have pulled it off with predatory and deceptive pricing tactics. I'm glad I read these reviews because now I know to avoid giving Lock Surgeon my business.
Friendly staff, prompt service, didn't charge me for labor when he reasonably could have. I came to their Edmonton North side location with two requests: I needed a spare transponder key cut for my car and that request was fulfilled quickly and effectively. I also had a door unlock remote for my vehicle which had stopped working suddenly. I had bought an additional OEM remote online as a spare that I'd hoped they could program to the car if the original remote was legitimately dead. The tech informed me fully of the process and pricing beforehand and clearly cautioned me that the process does not always work with OEM parts and that I'd have to pay whether he succeed or failed. I committed to try anyway and ultimately the process failed to make either of the remotes function. The tech was very informative through the whole process. He indicated that the problem seemed to be in the car, not in the remotes, and advised me to take the issue up with the dealership. Then despite the prior cautions, he didn't bill me for trying. This was pretty cool of him to do and completely unexpected. I don't normally write reviews, but I saw some great service today at Lock Surgeon.
Way cheaper then dealership. Got new key for my husbands 2015 ram for half of what dealer wanted plus also got back up key without the buttons but still starts and runs the truck. Very helpful and friendly staff. PS. I had no idea there are so many different types of lock. If you need some odd part these guys will have it.
DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY unless you have money to burn. Deceptive business practices, questionable ethics, and not fully disclosing information. If you have also had a negative experience and been WAY over charged- please google Alberta Consumer Complaints and submit a complaint for investigation. Also submit a complaint to the better business bureau. I have and they are investigating. It would be helpful to have more than one complaintant. They ( Rita dispatch lady or Phil the locksmith that arrived ) did not disclose the excessive service fee( 150 just to drive to your house!!), not the exorbitant per hour charge (195 per hour)!!!! They waste time calling for parts, filling out your invoice and you are charged for all of it. They installed one deadbolt for me that I supplied and the cost was over 600 dollars. Pretty easy fix to all the negative reviews- just disclose the pricing on the Phone and let consumers decide if they want to do business or not.
Called asking for a rough price to get a new key cut and programmed for a Honda Accord. I told the guy I have the original keys and he said best estimate was between $150 - $500. For a locksmith company to not have a simple flat rate they can offer over the phone is pretty poor service but after seeing these reviews i’m now not surprised.
I have used Lock Surgeon for years as I manage several commercial properties. Stopped in there shop the other day to get some keys and got the same great service I get at our commercial properties. They do cost more then a handy man but your getting a professional locksmith or certified door installer and service level is top notch
I called lock surgeons to unlock my car as my keys in it. The guy that came to do the job I have no issues with. The issue I have with this company is not only their lack of concern for my problem, but the fact that you CANNOT talk to a person, instead file a complaint on line. That is incredibly convenient for them as they can completely ignore you issue solely based on their opinion. This company charge me $246.00 to unlock my car. THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS!!!!! Last year I sent Kingsway towing do the samething and they charge me less than 1/2 of that. That’s reasonable! This company at no time offered to quote me on price and now I see why! They know the price is outrageous and they don’t care. At no point was I offered verification on license or of who or the qualifications of the individual that unlocked my car. To prove my point I just called Kingsway towing to get a price, they quoted me 65.00 plus tax. I will continue to barrage this company on social media everywhere until they make this right. To lock surgeons: 24 hrs to respond to me favourably, or I wil continue on social media. A reasonable rate would even 100.00 but 246.00 greedy and deceitful by now telling the customer at the point of phone call Warren
Lock Surgeon is an excellent place for your Security needs. They have a wide range of locks, chains and Security Systems. The staff is highly professional and very friendly. If you visit them you will not be disappointed .
They failed to disclose the call out fee! I wonder what else they failed to disclose in the estimate and what nasty surprises may surface! I guess I'm giving these guys a skip!
Great service and fair prices
I would NOT recommend Lock Surgeon for the following reasons: I contacted Lock Surgeon to see if they would be able to fix the lower latch on our double door as it wouldn't latch down all the way. Rita told me that yes they could fix it and continued to tell me that they charge 149.00 to come out and parts and labor would be extra. I agreed to have them do the work. Phillip, the tech, came out and assisted the situation and confirmed that he could fix it. The fix was very simple, as all he had to do was drill out the hole a little deeper and no parts were needed. Then Phillip presented me with a bill of 386.48 and I darn neer had a heart attack!! I asked him why so much and then I proceeded to tell him what Rita told me. He said that just to come to the door and 149.00, then there was the labor and supplies charge on top of that and since the time he showed up till the work was done was 45 minutes, therefore it was an hour charge for labor. And the the 24.08 for the supplies; which was a little spray of lube and a paper towel to whip it up and the charge for him to use his drill and drill bit...REALLY!!! I then called Lock Surgeon after Phillip left and ended up taking to Rita regarding the above mentioned situation. I told her in a nice tone that I was very upset regarding the difference between what she told me and what I was charged for as their way of explaining their billing left a lot of confusion for me and I'm sure others. But she informed me that she was absolutely right in the way she explained it and that, that was a ME problem. When I tried to explain it in a different way, she once again told me it wasn't her , it was a ME problem. Rita told me I could talk to their complaints department and I said yes. Well that was an excersize in futility, as its all automated so u can't leave a verbal complaint and u can't talk to a person either. I DO NOT RECOMMEND LOCK SURGEON AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN. They are absolutely unprofessional and don't disclose their hourly labor costs. BEWARE!!!
Please beware of this company they are out there to scam the customers. I needed to get a quote for putting a glass window bars. The lady stated the quote is going to be $149 which I thought it was odd because most companies do it for free. I still said ok I will pay that amount but once the guy came and measured by windows. He spent less than 30 minutes to measure my windows and he handed me a bill for $386.48. I was shock as I was only quoted $149 but be said that's how much we charge for the quote. I called the company and that said no you have to pay this much bc it was not a quote. I told the lady let me speak to the manager but she just put me voice mail where they advertising about there company how big they are and all they expenses. I wish I would have saw the reviews before even getting a quote for them. I will not ever recommend or call them. I will also advise my kids, my future grandkids and my grand grandkids to never use this. company.
We have used this Company in the past on a few occasions to rekey locks to our building . We felt the charge out rates on past experiences with this group were reasonable. Yesterday we had them out to rekey a lock for us . Their rates went up over 80% from our last experience with them 1 year ago . In discussion with both Rita and the tech , there was no further discussion to be had other than "these were our rates" and " we had a price increase ". You do not need to be in the lock industry to recognize the fact that an over $ 400 bill for 20 minutes of work is slanted math heavily in favor of this group . This might be their game plan but it is very short sighted since repeated reviews like this one and other shared experiences with other building owners will not work in their favor . People you need to avoid this group !!!
Needed a keyless entry lock replaced. Dale did an excellent job. He was sent the day after I called for help. Was completely professional and left the area clean when complete. Would not hesitate to recommend this company!
Stop, Turn and GO....go somewhere else other than this place of business. Worse business to do business with. I do not know how they have lasted for 30 years. They are dishonest, misleading, and have no sense of customer service at all. It is all about money to them. I was scammed and I want everyone to know. They take no regard for the customers who are keeping them in business. Keep your support for the other HONEST local businesses in the city. We have more highly rated locksmiths in the Edmonton area to choose from. We need to support those of integrity and sense of morals. Keep away from this company for all services they say they provide. It will give you a peace of mind knowing you will have less stress not dealing with these people. If your looking for a key for your vehicle, do yourselves a favour and go to your dealership. It's half the price!
DO NOT CALL !!!!! they showed up he basically did nothing left in under 20 min and it cost $250.00 my 24 year old maintenance man had it open in about ten min. DO NOT CALL they just take advantage of you because they no know your in a bad position. Id love to give no starts
Locked my keys in the car,my bad. Called doctor surgeon 154 dollars later..Payed like a surgeon more like it. Unless the guy that did it makes 100 dollars for 15minutes of his time.Disgusting prices..If they charged me 154 bucks for just opening up a door I'd hate to see what they charge for their other work..Brutal..Felt scammed ,don't believe there friendly commercial.
Rip off!! They talk like they are some sort of scientist. The front counter guy looks and talks like a “used car sales man”. Grow up!
This company writes fake positive reviews a lot, don't pay attention to the positive reviews, only pay attention to the negative ones as they are the only real reviews
Biggest rip off I have ever received, this is why this is my first review on Google. We have a 3 point locking patio door. Lock Surgeon came to look at it and came to the conclusion we need $2000.00 worth of parts. I understand parts will be needed. Then they Charged us $496.00 for an hours work just to tell us that we need parts. $496.00 to tell me I need parts for a hour of his time... I called to discuss and they didn't have any answers, the lady tried to tell me it was only $325.00 I had to correct her and she came up with more excuses of the price. Then she said it was a hour and a half he was there. Even if it was a hour and a half, the price is not justified. I already contacted your competitor and they have heard this from your company before. Lock Surgeon here is my invoice #047548 thanks for the ripoff and I hope people read this and do not use your company. Horrible customer service and hidden fees.
Professional, excellent product knowledge, thorough and great training. Would come back anytime.
I called Lock Surgeon for a price quote on re-keying a lock. The price they quoted me was $130. I called Royal Lock and Key and they did the same job for $15 and it was done in less than a half hour. When you need lock work done give Lock Surgeon a wide berth.
So had them cut some keys that were about 300% of keys cutting services of other places. Tried again because of the store location but the cost of a lock was 45% higher than the same lock we had just purchased elsewhere. The guy is knowledgeable and friendly but if your looking for a deal shop elsewhere.
Had several companies out to repair our automatic sliding doors. Not one of them could get it working correctly. Called Lock Surgeon and Josh came out. With in 1hour he had the door working much better and a parts list of what needed replacing. One week later he returned with the parts and installed them. The doors work like new again. Very proffesional, well trained and stayed in communication with me.
expensive and poor job done. Won't give us quote. Said its hard to quote the job. Paid for the service call, but ended up not having problem fixed. Advertising is very misleading.
Awesome, quick and friendly service.
My special needs mother-in-law called to get her deadbolt and door knob replaced. Never got a quote, just a bill for $961.21 after installation. We were aware of the $149 call out fee, but the rest is criminal at best. There is no way a locksmith should be charging almost $1000 for 30 minutes of work. Epic fail, avoid these criminals!
Tell your drivers they need to learn how to drive, when the guy in the branded truck cuts me off in the parking lot, then wants to get in a shouting match, unprofessional and can't even back up the tough guy talk. Avoid this company at all costs.
over seven hundred dollars for a new deadbolt and door knob . Not an emergency installation -price not discussed until after installed. Buyer beware with this company. Customer service was unapproachable and did not care. Even worse than the installation which left door jam cracked and door unable to close properly. There was also a mess of sawdust and old parts left in a pile .... OMG I FINALLY READ ALL THE REVIEWS AND THEY ARE SPOT ON....embarrassing
After visiting several places with no success to get some boat keys cut Lock Surgeon had them and cut them correctly the first time.
bad service ever I had seen in my life I asked him to programe two fob key for dodge journey he ask for 250 $ I paid for him before he start programing and when he start he found that it need pin code so he didn't do any thing to my car And ask me to go back to dealership to get the pin code so I did but the dealership programe Two fob key and cut the key as well with only 117$ so its kind of
A province investigation found that this business hires people who aren't licensed to do the job and do the work poorly. A Better Business Bureau alert says: The Consumer Investigations Unit of Service Alberta conducted a proactive investigative operation to determine whether specific locksmiths are engaging in unfair trading practices in the city of Edmonton. Investigators from the Law Enforcement & Oversight Branch of Justice and Solicitor General, the department responsible for the licensing of locksmiths in the province of Alberta, participated in the operation...A AB. Lock Surgeon Ltd. was contacted to attend a residential premises for a lock-out. The employee dispatched by the company was unable to pick the lock to open the door and after 30 minutes resorted to more aggressive means by forcibly twisting the knob and lock mechanism until it broke off. Law Enforcement & Oversight Branch of Alberta Justice and Solicitor General confirm that the employee did not obtain the required locksmith license and therefore did not have the authority to be working as a locksmith in the province of Alberta.
Never paid so much for keys cut. More than 3 times what I paid at another VERY NEAR locksmith. Their explanation made no sense and I returned to the other locksmith and had more cut at the realistic price. Should have paid more attention to reviews.
First off, I am an HONEST business owner & am sensitive to reviews; I believe in reviewing a company for what it is worth & no less. If I could give negative stars on Lock Surgeon I would. AWFUL company - stay far, FAR away from them. They are a horrible, poor practicing and SCAMMING company that will nickle and dime you, and charge you without telling you they will charge you. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau (with, to no surprise, no resolution after they replied with lies, denying everything that was done) & highly encourage anyone who has had a similar experience to mine to do the same (they keep track of similar experiences, & from the looks of some of these reviews, this has been a repeat issue). I will also be filing a consumer complaint for investigation through Service Alberta at the beginning of Jan 2017 if our matter isn't confirmed as resolved. Service Alberta will keep track of similar experiences and may even take action if they are found in the wrong and there are repeat offences so if the following resembles anything that has happened to you, PLEASE take the time to submit reports as they do count! I'm basically going to copy and paste pertinent parts of my BBB response (I can't paste it all as it exceeds the review character limit). If you want to read the entire correspondence (including Lock Surgeon's lying response) go to BBB's website & search Lock Surgeon. *Note: after looking at BBB, there are 14 complaints! Kicking myself for not looking before all of this. I initially called to book someone to come out & provide a quote for me on replacing my garage door opener. The appointment was made & I was not under any impression after my phone call that there would be a charge implemented for this consultation. The man who arrived looked at my garage door opener, said it needed replacing, and quoted me $699 to install. This was the FIRST and only time I was given a 'quote' or any dollar amount. When I explained that I wanted to gather some other quotes from other companies, he told me that I was going to be charged $125 for his visit, at which I was completely shocked. I refused to pay as I was NEVER told I would be charged anything! We received an invoice the following week for $125 plus GST. My wife called Lock Surgeon to figure out why this was charged to us, and after a seemingly struggling conversation with Rita, got nowhere. Rita was constantly putting my wife on hold, yelling over the phone at her, and refused to give her contact information for someone else to speak with, stating "We don't give out names here". When my wife asked if there was a recording of their conversation stating that I would be charged when I made an appointment for a quote, she completely side stepped the question, also stating "I deal with hundreds of calls every day, I don't have the time to tell EVERY one about the service charge."! Are you kidding me? You don't have the TIME to tell people you are going to charge them? If there is a recorded conversation between myself & Rita with her explaining that I would be charged, then I would love to hear it! If you 'don't have the time to tell everyone about your service charge', then I suggest you start and make it a part of your appointment-booking process. Just a tip. They are clearly taking advantage of people. After calling other companies for a quote, some quoted me on the phone (and they actually did quote me), and some said they would (and did) quote in person at NO CHARGE. I now have received 2 invoices that also state they will take us to collections if we don't pay. So unless I am called by someone from this company with an apology and confirmation that they will be dropping this WRONGFULLY CHARGED invoice, I will be doing everything (and I mean everything) I can to get the word across that Lock Surgeon has shady business practices. There is a reason they're not on any social media outlets like Facebook or Twitter; all they would get would be awful reviews because of their scamming business practices. They need to be stopped.
THIS COMPANY WILL RIP YOU OFF . .
Unless you have deep pockets, I would not recommend them. I was aware of the $149 service fee to come to my house, but ended up paying $500/hour to look at three doors. (There was nothing really wrong with the doors, except one had a little gap from the weatherstripping. Note: only at my house for two hour. Also be aware they are not recognized with the Better Business Bureau. Back in the day, that use to mean they were recognized as a reputable company. Go look at the the better business bureau website. You will be surprised! To bad I never checked this out before they came to my house.
Outrageous rates that don’t make sense. They literally made it official by having a rate chart posted on the board. It’s unrealistic that they are getting away with this robbery. Definitely contacting CBC market place on them.
USE ANOTHER LOCKSMITH! Complete lack of price transparency, our business was charged $2600 for the installation of a multi-key lock on ONE door after being verbally quote $2500-3000 for all 3 doors. Outrageous cost. I attempted to discuss this situation with Lock Surgeon and was told I could not speak to Pat or Josh and that I must email customer service, I did so on March 31st but unfortunately have not received a response. Lock Surgeon was contacted to replace existing locks with multi key locks on 3 exterior office doors. When the technician arrived and spoke with the Staff on site, Alexandra, he was unable to provide any information regarding cost and said that he would complete all the work and then provide a total. It is at this point that it began to feel like this tech was going to take advantage of the staff on site and charge however he saw fit without any transparent pricing. After further pressing for pricing, he indicated that the cost would be $2500-3000 for all 3 doors. This cost was far too high and he was told we did not want to proceed, he had already started one of the doors so we agreed to proceed with that one door and go no further. Upon completion of ONE door we were invoiced $2600!!! This is completely unacceptable.
Very poor customer service and attitude. I am not using this company again.
I had mixed emotions about doing a negative review as we have used Lock Surgeon for many years with our business and our home. However, they would not allow me the opportunity to discuss my disappointment about a recent charge for a dead bolt repair for our home. Needless to say to repair (not replace) a part in the dead bolt for our garage they left an invoice for $906.11. I called them immediately the next day to ask what was going on I was told "looking at the invoice everything is correct". I spoke with Rita who we have dealt with many times over the years. I said $906.11 to repair a dead bolt, Rita told me they have had price increases. I said I need to speak with someone about this as this will have a very negative impact on our business and personal relationship moving forward. Rita told me I could go to their website and write a complaint on line. I said that will not do it I need to speak with someone. She then transferred me to a recording that explained their excessive pricing. What kind of customer service is this. Outrageous! So I decided if I want to speak with a live person about this bill the best way is to not pay it and someone will contact me. WRONG...that was September 8 and I am still waiting. Although they have a record of our locks in their system as Lock Surgeon did all the locks, I booked a service to repair the garage door dead bolt. Their invoice had a $159.00 charge for service call. A $97.50 charge to determine the dead bolt was broken. Another charge for $249.00 to "examine and determine". Another charge for $301.00 called site diagnose and take back to shop for proper part. Then last but not least another charge for $56.46 for shop supplies (lubricating products, paper towels, gloves, drill bits, miscellaneous job tools, electronic communication devices, payment acceptance devise and general shop and truck supplies). That and $43.15 for GST totaled $906.11 and they don't wish to discuss this with me. I should also mention when I was transferred to the recording that explained various charges that show up on their invoices, I hung up and called back and they refused to speak with me and refused to allow me to remain on hold to wait to speak to some one although I was adamant I was going to hold, low and behold they disconnected the telephone so the line went dead. Make your choice for a Lock Company wisely.
The Biggest rip off in Edmonton I Had a key that was broken they wanted $59.00 to cut one key!!! They made it seem like they had to do surgery to cut me a key I Went around the corner to All Lock Rescue 11709 170 St with the same broken Key got 3 Keys for $9.00 no problems Save your $$$ do not bring your business here
Completely over charged for a 30 min process 435.00 compared to just recent locksmith we called to change mailbox key 120.00 it was a apartment lock and it only took him 30 mins to install the new locks. I will never use Lock Surgeon again, common sense, Lock Surgeon should have never charged us for.
