I will start by saying, I didn't actually purchase my key fob there, but I did take it there to program it. I had read the reviews and of course everyone in Louisville knows, this place is supposed to be the best. I took my key fob there to have it programmed, they quoted me a price and I agreed, so he got to work .Well, he tried for a good 2 hours and couldn't get the key fob to program completely. In the midst of trying to get it to work, the technician had come inside to do something and apparently left my original (and only working) key fob on the window sill outside. A lady delivering food to someone there picked it up and brought it inside to tell them she found it outside. Talk about unprofessional? SOMEONE COULD HAVE STOLEN MY CAR! Anyways, once they determined it wasn't going to work, they decided they would still charge me half the quoted cost because they had to contact Chrysler to get my pin number. Keep in mind, they didn't actually compete the service. So in reality, I probably shouldn't have had to pay anything. At that point I was just ready to leave. So I went to leave, and of course my Service engine light is on. I had to go back in and point this out, to which they said it was probably "stuck in Programming mode". After another long wait trying to get the light to go off, they deemed that to be a task they couldn't complete either. So the manager came over and handed me his card and says something along the lines of "we can't figure out how to get it out of programming mode, but I think it will remedy itself over the weekend. If it doesn't contact me Monday and I'll make it right." So, the good news is that, by Monday it wasn't on any longer. However, I tried to email this manager twice this week and he's not responded at all. I ended up having to go to the dealership and pay a lot more for a key fob and programming. They were, however, able to get me in and out in less than an hour and it works perfectly. Anyways, I can't speak to anything beyond key fob programming but if that's what you need, you would be better off trying the dealership if you've got the 3x extra to pay for saving your time and headache.

The door remote for my Toyota Tundra quit working. After trying a couple shops in town, I was referred to Cooks. They told me to just stop by and they would program it for me. I did stop in, no appointment. Chuck was able to program the remote in only a few minutes. On top of that, the price the charged me was astonishingly low!!! Called to ask about an alarm system on my 2009 Kia Rio. The dealership wanted $150 to disable the system since the company was no longer in business and I had broken my replacement key. Called Cook's and their tech was awesome! He informed me that when they install the systems they include a spare security key attached to the box, but most dealerships ignore telling this detail to customers. Sure enough, I went home, didn't have to remove the panel at all, just reached behind the steering column, and there was another security key! 10 years I've had this car and never knew! Saved me a bunch of money. I'll definitely be using them in the future for all my locksmith needs.

On advice from a good mechanic (Jamie Buckson) I made it to the dealer and that was my last key turn in my 2006 Honda van. Their key machine was broken and they said to replace ignition $700, and we would then have to use two sets of keys. So I had AAA tow it to Cook's. Turns out our primo AAA plan has a $150 credit toward locksmith for car and Cook's was a participating vendor. They fixed it in a day and I was out less than $200 after the discount. I think they repaired the cylinder. They have a car garage. Very nice and professional all along the way. Got two replacement keys same as old. We've retired the old keys as spares. We came out like roses on this one. Next time I'd say skip the dealer and just go to Cook's!

The folks at Cook's Locksmith Services were extremely polite and professional when I called. My wife and I are pretty sure our son accidentally threw away the keys to our Jeep. We were left with a locked up SUV in our driveway and no way to unlock it, much less drive it. Cook's sent a technician out the day after I called them. In under 20 minutes, I had an unlocked Jeep with a brand new key! And roughly $100 cheaper than going to the dealership (would have also required a tow)!! Son got a 2008 Toyota Camry LE,He only had one key,called Cook's and they said $189.00 for one key,got an idea from Cook's reviews about nuying keys on EBAY then having Cook's program them.Bought two keys for $170.00 on EBAY brought them to Cook's and Chuck's equipment couldn't get a reading from the car's OD2port,left thinking something was wrong with the OD2port,car was going in the shop the next day for unrelated repairs,had the Mechanic check the OD2port,it was working fine,returned to Cook's,Chuck tried again to no avail,they put Vickie on the job and said sometimes their new technology doesn't match with the older cars,so Vickie retro'd the tech and got the keys to work,so all in all paid a total of $223.00 for two keys between EBAY and Cook's.My recommendation is if Chuck can't do it,don't give up just ask for Vickie.

I had royally messed up a locking handle on my shed and went to several different "reputable" places around town with no luck. I stopped into Cook's with the handle in hand and the gentleman who assisted me had it fixed in less than 5 minutes. The other places fiddled and gave up and Cook's fixed it like they were making toast. Now I have a new car with only one anti-theft key and Cook's can make me a spare, something the dealership had said only they can do (and for a pretty penny). This place is amazing! The customer service and quality of service is fantastic, not to mention the prices can't be beat! The smartkey feature in my car had been activated accidently and I was unable to clear it. I spent 4 days talking to dealerships, mechanics and even the manufacture and what they said would take hours of reprogramming, the purchase of another key... All of which would cost me $350-$500 was solved in less than 3 minutes (I'm not kidding) for $75 (I'm not kidding about this either) by Cook's. I am a forever fan. This place rocks!

Our lock quit working and we had Tripp from cook’s come out yesterday. It was a non-emergency phone call, however they were here within a couple hours. The price was lower than I worried it would be. We have a Home Warranty and I opted not to call them. Glad I made that choice, because it probably would have been costlier to go through them and they likely wouldn’t have covered it. Tripp was very kind. He explained everything he was going to do before he did it and gave us the cost breakdown before he started working. He was conscious of safety with our little kids at home while he worked. He seemed like an all-around great guy and now both of our locks are working great!

My security door slammed shut & snapped my back door key in half. It was my only copy. I called Cooks and they told me to bring in the peices. They were pretty badly mangled on the edges as well. They made a copy from the peices and to my complete surprise it worked perfectly when I got home. Saved from an expensive house call. Couldn't be happier.

They really take care of your business. In my case I dropped my car due to an ignition issue with a broken key inside in their facilities. There was a $30 non-refundable fee whether it worked or not, but this seems to be typical in the locksmith world. Great service, and I was in and out quickly.

I went to a car repair shop when I could not get my car key out and I was given 2 options. One option was to leave my car with them and they will apparently dismantle the whole system to get the key out. The other option was to go to Cook’s Locksmith Services which I was told was already closed at around 5:25. I tried to call them and Nikki told me they close at 6 pm. I drive to their location but got lost. I called and Marc answered my call to give me directions patiently. When I finally got to their location, they were very nice and very professional. It was very close to closing time but they were ok to finish the job. They even explained to me how the key broke and gave me tips on using it to avoid breaking it. Marc and Nikki gave the very best customer service I have ever had. Cook’s Locksmith Services is highly recommended.

I lost a key to my motorcycle. It' old. A competitor told me at least 150$ to come to the bike, and make a key. Cook's was 50$ , but i had to bring the ignition to them. Easyish removal, and took it up there. Made a couple of copies for other bikes, told him about mine, took acouple laps around the store, and badda-bing new cut key for ignition. Getting the key quick was a plus, given it could take a day or two, depending on what tricks work or if you have to open it, so I was happy customer. It's when I went to pay that i became a repeat customer. "23 and change" said the rep. I replied " Sure? I thought it was 50 bucks?" "Nope, I had an easier way so I charged you LESS!" Read that agian. Refreashing this day and age. They made money, it was 10 min work, but most importantly they didn't skin me either. I never would have known. Honesty deserves reward, so get your keys at Cook's. ***I am not implying they can always do this, but I am of a strong impression that they will if they can.***

I had been carrying around my loose ignition key for a couple of months since the loop broke away from my keychain. I've been putting it off because I thought only the dealer could program keys, and who can afford the dealer? Oddly enough after talking to the technician at the dealer service counter, he pointed me here. (Unsung hero) I came in and placed my lone survivor(barely) truck key on the counter. "What did you do to that?" (we shared laughter at my pitiful key) "Is that your only key?" "Yep" "That could have gotten expensive." He got right to work cutting and programming my new keys. He was done in about 5 minutes. I had 2 keys made for $60 less than the dealership charges for 1! Highly satisfied with the prompt, friendly service I received. I bought a safe from here some years ago and I recall them being very friendly and easy to deal with then as well.

I have a Suzuki Boulevard and only one key for the ignition. The cycle shop recommend Cook's to have spare keys made. Although the first two keys they made did not work in the ignition, they made 2 more and made sure that keys worked properly. Not many places have the blanks for motorcycle keys. She had a sour look on her face and had a huge attitude. I asked her if I could have a key made to a car. She said "nothing we sell here is guaranteed" I think asked for the code back and told her she too big of an attitude and I'd take my business elsewhere. I know people have their good days and bad days but this lady should not have been at the costumer service desk. Her perfesionalism and friendliness was terrible. ORIGINAL POST WITH A 1 STAR REVIEW: I have used Cook's for many years. Very dissatisfied with the young locksmiths sent by them who are inadequate to be out in the community servicing their customers. They do not know how to fix existing locks so they have to replace them and did not offer to replace the lock with a similar lock. Very, very dissatisfied. And this is not the first time I have been dissatisfied. I will definitely rethink using them again. UPDATED POST WITH A 5 STAR REVIEW: I was contacted by Tony the GM of Cook's within just a few hours after the work was done and I posted the review. He had to leave a voice mail because I was not at home. He didn't stop there! He contacted me again. He has absolutely went far above and beyond even my expectation. He contacted many of his suppliers, had people looking within their own inventory and spent several hours just to find the product he thought I would be most happy with. He has found the product and it will be installed by a hand picked installer of his choosing. Tony is a very real asset to Cook's. He was MOST congenial, went overboard to gain my trust and did it all with a smile in his voice plus made me feel he really valued me and my business. There are no words that could express my gratitude to Tony for all he did. The way he handled this issue speaks volumes to be as to the integrity of Cook's Locksmith Services. Jacked up my car. After an ignition re-key, they gave me my car back with all 4 steering column bolts loose and almost got me killed. Broke my shift lock and cylinder key lock. Key can be removed with car in gear now. Put my steering column back on with the wheel pointed 5 degrees to the left. They also broke the clockspring wire in my steering wheel. They did replace that with another, but it throws an airbag code which I have to clear every 4 or 5 days. They may be decent locksmiths, but the mechanic they have prepping cars has no idea what he/she is doing. I am stuck with a POS thanks to these guys.

My wife used this company with an apartment complex she manages a couple of times this summer. Today she calls to have them out again and they asked for proof of ownership and or proof of management. When she asked what exactly they needed the phone rep could not say so I guess he was frustrated as he put the phone down and say "OH MY F***ing God!" EDIT: Cook's reached out to me regarding my issues with the services and attempted to make it right with me. They were very sincere and offered a discount, but I have already taken my business elsewhere. Regardless, I appreciate a company that can admit mistakes and try to make it right. No one is perfect and I deeply appreciate this. With this in mind, I've adjusted my rating. I don’t understand the positive reviews for this place at all. My only ignition key broke off from my keys and got lost. I called on Monday and asked for a quote. They said it’d be 197 for a new key, but I’d save 55 if I went to the business. They failed to tell me I needed to bring that car, even after I told them I didn’t have any other keys, so obviously I can’t bring that car. They also failed to even try to set up a meeting for the next day. I called the next day and they couldn’t do it that day, which is fine. I scheduled for the next day, and they couldn’t schedule me for an exact time, which is difficult with my schedule. They only gave me AM or PM as options, so I had to hope for the best. I told them I’d probably have my wife be there and gave her number. Nowhere here did they ask if the car was registered to her. This brings us to today. They finally call my wife and let her know they’re on their way. I’m unable to be there because of my job. Once getting there, they tell my wife that they can’t do it because the car isn’t registered to her, which they never mentioned to me before. I asked if it’d be okay if I tried to rush over there, or if it was okay if I sent a picture of me and my ID to give approval, or god forbid use a video call to do the same thing. After all, it’s 2020 and we have technology. I’ve heard of other locksmiths approving this, but no. Instead, they have to reschedule. I’m tired of not being told all the information I need in order to get my key. I called up Lockdoctor and not only were they able to give me an actual timeframe that isn’t 6 hours long and made sure they’d be there after I got work, but they’re also doing it for 50 dollars cheaper. Cook’s is rude, unwilling to work with people’s situations, and just assumes that people know their rules.

Broke the flip key off of fob of the only key for car. They had ford OEM replacement key/fob not aftermarket part. Only took 20 minutes to cut new key and program fob. Friendly staff too.
