This Locksmith is included in the category of Locksmith.
He did a great job on a very complex high end lock. He had to use some ingenuity and was able to get me all safe and sound again.
Made all my keys right the first time, thx guys!
Very knowledgeable and helpful
Fast service with unique keys I've not seen anywhere else. Difficult parking until you realize there's a parking lot behind it. (Careful not to park in the residential rentals spaces).
Their keys always work and never break. Great quality overall!!! Forget about Home Depot, Lowes and etc. They can't come even close to the quality of Cuyahoga Safe and Lock. And the price is almost the same.
I had locks rekeyed for our new home. I know absolutely nothing about locks and could have probably been sold unnecessary items or services, but this wasn't the case, and I felt I could trust them. Mark was friendly and explained all his work as he was completing it. Also, I was impressed by how fast they were able to make an appointment. Both times I called, an appointment was available within 24 hours. They also forego the service call charge if you ask them to come out a second time within two weeks. I highly recommend them.
Good to have a place that knows what a skeleton key is .
Great small business, owner is an awesome person, can't go wrong buying your locks here or utilizing the services offered
A key place for any lock needs. Have used these guys for over 5 years, as a maintenance technician, I have an abundance of keys, locks, door knobs and closures to be worked on. I've never had a bad cut from Cuyahoga.
Bill Nehrenz at Cuyahoga Safe & Lock is great. He is extremely knowledgeable, very honest, professional, and easy to work with. He goes the extra mile to ensure the customer is satisfied. I would recommend him to anyone looking to install or upgrade their security measures around the home or business. He proposed and delivered a top-of-the-line resolution that was tailor-made for our specific situation, at a very reasonable cost. If he can’t solve your problem, he will bring in the right person who can. I encourage you to call Bill to discuss your security needs. You won’t regret it.
Friendly service, and have a wide assortment of keys available
They taught me how to fix my lock. So awesome! I'll recommend this service all day long.
The staff was friendly, the keys were made quickly, and they all worked wonderfully! I highly recommend Cuyahoga Safe and Lock :)
Friendly & well informed staff, keys made in couple minutes.
Needed a new key to my house after losing my last one. I figured out the cut code and they made a couple of keys lickity-split. While I was there we chatted a bit about other services they provide, like how they could've easily determined the code for me if I had brought the lock in. If you ever need information about doors, windows, locks, safes call these people up I'm certain they help you out. Local services like these should be appreciated because the knowledge that they have about their specialization is something that shouldn't be taken for granted.
Great service and great pricing. Keys are high quality, actually worked smoother than the keys that came with the lock.
31 years faith full customer
Great service! Couple are so nice and freindly, they were very helpful and gave me directions on the proper way to assemble the swivel handle to my "old door" product was a reasonable price and works great! Highly satisfied!
Fast and easy, the new keys always work!
I needed a flat steel spring for an antique RHCo Mortise lock and could not find it anywhere online. I stopped by Cuyahoga Safe & Lock and they gave me the spring for free. I'll definitely stop by for future needs.
Highly recommended!!! I get my keys here all the time, never had a problem. Thank you,
Awesome place had a broken garage key after going to several places they were able to get me new ones recommend to anyone if I could gibe more stars I would
Great folks who work there and were able to answer my questions. Even gave me a few free washers so I could test fixing our door knobs.
While this company was able to come and install my locks, the customer service is something to be desired. Whoever answers the phone to schedule and handle issues does not understand how to communicate with customers and is very rude. Our deadbolt was installed and after the installer left I began to have difficulty with it. When I called back, there was no offer to come back free of charge just look at it and see what the issue was after spending $135.00 for the service plus the amount of money I spent to purchase my lock from home depot. They immediately assumed the lock I purchased was the problem and that I would have to return it. I ended up going back to Home depot and buying new lock so that we would be able to take the old lock off. Because of how rude the man was on the phone about having to come back out, I had a friend come look at it. My friend was able to figure out that the problem was not the lock at all and that it was how we were using the lock which was different from what the installer showed me and what the book said. To make a long story short, was all they had to do is send someone back to look at it and it wouldn't have taken them any time at all to figure it out as my friend figured it out in less than 15 minutes. I chose this place because it was close by as well therefore it wouldn't have even been out of the way. The only credit I will give to this company is to the nice man who came out to install the lock. However, I will never call this company again for anything else.
Great service and fair prices, a must have local business.
Bill and his team are fantastic! I tend to be a "do it yourselfer" and whenever I call or stop by, I get straight answers, solid advice, and fair pricing. Give them a try; you can't go wrong.
Quick, great service. Got my lock issues resolved quickly by greatly skilled people. Very pleased.
They helped me out by cutting motorcycle keys from the manufacturer's key code. They were very helpful and responsive, and got my problem solved for an affordable price compared to the alternatives I was looking at. I will be coming back for any future locksmithing needs.
I had three less than positive experiences, and today was by far the worst. I went in for the first time to get a spare ignition key made for my hot rod. He took the key, went in the back for a minute, said he didn't have one. He then made a call to see if someone else knew what the key was. They did not. I asked what options I had and he said to contact the manufacturer. He went on to say "you never know there these Chinese pieces of junk come from and you probably won't be able to get a blank for it" (I am i paraphrasing here, I don't remember the exact wording, but I clearly remember the Chinese insult ... I lived in China for two years so I pick up that type of racism) I was not thrilled, but I've heard that before. I went and did some research, was told the key blank was an ilco key. I called Cuyahoga Safe & Lock and told them I was the guy with the ignition key and that I found out that it was an ilco key and gave him the key identifier (I don't remember it any more). I asked if he has that blank. Wow, did I get attitude. He got agitated and said that it was not an ilco key, it was the mirror image of the ilco key that I mentioned, he has 30 years experience with keys and he knows what he is talking about. Whew, I asked a simple question and I get an earful. I got off the phone and was like, Okay, I'm not going back there again! Foolishly, I went back again today. I brought in a Ford key and a house key. $14 for 4 keys. The Ford keys were $3.50 each. I rarely buy keys so I don't know if that is reasonable or not. Luckily I had the Ford with me because both keys were incorrect - wouldn't even go into the lock. I went back in right away and told him the key wouldn't even go in the lock. Given my past experience, I had already decided that I didn't want to have him remake the keys, I just wanted a refund. When I told him I wanted a refund... wow, he did not take it well. He said "Zero mistakes huh?" to which I replied "No, mistakes are fine. This isn't your first mistake with me it's your third" and went on to explain our previous interactions. It was clear that he remembered me. I told him his attitude was the problem and the way he is handling the current situation is a perfect example - he was literally in the back room yelling at me as I walking out the front door. This reminds me a lot of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. If everything goes well, you're happy, but if you ask any questions or give any feedback then watch out!
Excellent service
We had a series of unprofessional verbal attacks and rude interactions from the owner of this establishment. We tried multiple times to look past his abusive ways, but his demeanor did not change. His staff is generally very nice, but depending on the day of the week he acts in such a cheuvenistic, aggressive and unprofessional manner that we have made a choice to work with other locksmiths in the area.
They can do it!
I needed re-keying of several locks and installation of a new lock on a rental property I own in Lakewood. I was out-of-state at the time, and was a bit nervous about getting the job done in a timely manner. I called Cuyahoga Safe & Lock and with the help of Bill and Nils got all the work done with simplicity, ease and accuracy, not to mention on time and on budget. This is my go-to locksmith from now on. Highly recommend without hesitation.
Our deadbolt was broken and we wanted to replace with a smart lock. They fixed it quickly and took care of everything. When there was an issue with the new lock (one we purchased on our own), they came out within the 20 minutes to take a look and fixed it. Very professional and helpful- highly recommend.
Fixed my 110 year old deadbolt lock. Charged me less than the estimate!!
Was told, this lock has a clip that we might break in the process of rekeying, basically a cya in case they screw up. I went to A&E on Lorain, he looked at it, quoted me a price, and in 5 minutes came back with it done. I think this place is great until they make a mistake, then they get very belligerent, becaise they aren't human, they can't screw up, even if it a $2.5 key. So I'm done going here, customer service is definitely not their strong suite. I'm a handyman who is very meticulous about my work, but I do make mistakes, and I'm man enough to admit and fix them when they happen.
We have been customers for over 30 years. It takes a top notch business to garner that kind of loyalty. If you have complex lock problems - and old Lakewood hardware - there is no one more knowledgeable. Shop local and get exceptional value and quality at the same time.
Great customer service! Made the old safe key we need.
I have always had Great service by the locksmiths there, The owner is very knowledgeable and has recommended different solutions and products to save me money for my locks. I really enjoy no longer having a ring full of various keys and now have all my locks work from a single key!!! Very honest and good prices!! They also have a nice selection of safes too!
We make keys here all the time. They make them once and they make them right.
Very resourceful, friendly and timely service.
Very helpful, very wide assortment of keys. Uesd safes at good prices. Old lock repair and restoration servicing. Very knowledgeable staff.
Always a pleasure to do business with
Very trust worthy people. I recently purchased a new safe, and after a long month, totally forgot the how to open it. Granted, I still knew the combination, but I could not figure out the turn rotation. Figuring I would have to pay someone come out and simply show me how ignorant I was for a modest fee, I called up and asked what the charge for a house call was. As I braced for a crazy price, the gentlemen on the phone told me it seemed simple enough that he could guide me over the phone, free of charge. Within 2 minutes, I was back in my safe. They could have easily charged me to come out and simply turn the dial a few times and leave, but they instead took outstanding care of a customer remotely. Thanks guys, I'll be sure to visit you for all my other lock needs!!
It's a shame that a company that does relatively good work has to be ruined by the person that owns it. We manage apartment buildings and have been doing business with Cuyahoga for over 25 years. One day I sent my sister over to have a key copied that I was quoted around $2.25 to have made. She comes back with about $1.50 left over of the $10.00 I gave her. She tells me that the guy cutting the key(not the owner I usually deal with) told her it was more money and when she gave him the price I was quoted he told her he held my key and the new one hostage till she paid. Now usually if something is going to cost more than originally thought, the customer is supposed to be notified beforehand, so they have the opportunity to make the final decision. I guess he didn't know what the price was until after he cut it... So, naturally I called over to see what was going on. The employee, who I believe was named Mike, gets irrate with me telling me "that's what the effing price is, if I don't like it, go somewhere else". Not appreciating his attitude, I got irrate back and told him exactly how I felt. Later on that week I stopped in to make another purchase and the owner Bill throws me out of the store because I "belittled his employee" on the phone. He never asked me what happened, or what my side was. To this day Bill, the owner, has no clue what happened, only what he thinks happened. When I call and try to talk to him, he hangs up on me like a child throwing a tantrum. So my advice to anyone considering patronizing Cuyahoga Safe and Lock is don't. If you want to deal with someone that has a decent attitude and doesn't change prices halfway though the job, go to Lorain Triskett Locksmith. The ladies there do a fine job and aren't jerks.
Wasn't helpful.
The copies work better than the originals!!
I had a key that broke in my truck toolbox. They got the key out no problem, and were able to make me a new key from my old and broken one. Total time was less than 10 minutes.
Great professional locksmith!
Always a wonderful experience with great people and great service!! Highly recommended!!!
Always very helpful
Nils was able to fix my problem and offered great conversation as well. I'll definitely go back next time. Highly recommended!
Nice guy owns this place. Helpful and knowledgeable.
Bill and Mark are top in there field
Good business
I had to change the locks on my place. The locksmith came out and did a great job. He also sprayed the lock with WD-40 and that fixed the problem of my key getting stuck in the lock. Thanks!
Refused to cut a key because it wasn't purchased there.
Bad customer service. I'll never go back there
I am very pleased with Bill's work on my antique bookcase. He knows how to deal with antique locks and is very professional and reasonably priced.
Great service. Came to house within an hour and fixed probably quickly. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Very knowledgeable about High Security Locks and Electronic locks. Has Safe's in store, installs locks and more. NOT JUST a Key shop! This guy is the Real Deal Full Service Locksmith!
There is one employee their that is totally rude to customers. Thinks he's gods answer. He is not.
