I was a little skeptical that I had to insert the key into the machine myself however it’s super awesome that you get to see your key being cut and the monitor walks you through the steps. Old keys are usually worn down and no longer sharp so I was worried the new ones wouldn’t work, but all 4 keys I cut for different doors worked perfectly. I’m very impressed. It’s $3.99 for a regular key or you can pay a little extra for amazing designs and colours.

I remember the old days when I had to go to Home Depot to get my key duplicated by a HUMAN. I was at Walmart one day and saw the Minute Key Kiosk and was like automation/IOT is killing an old craft. Gave it a shot when I changed my lock. Process was simple, interface was touch screen, you insert your key into the slot for it to scan, you select the design of key, quantity, pay using CC or debit and it cuts the keys. No issues when testing the cut keys on my lock.

Tried the 'fancy' Minute Key self-serve machine first, and it gave me an error (twice) that basically said that it couldn't copy my simple door key. I then went to the manned booth and, after about 15 minutes of looking through a bunch of disorganized boxes on a high shelf, the nice employee told me that he couldn't find the blank that his computer was saying he needed. Must be 2020...

It was really simple to use, and you could choose a normal brass key, or those with designs. Price is reasonable, and it is really a key within a minute. The only problem I encountered was during the payment option, I had some problems. At first, it didn’t go into payment mode for the card reader, and so I asked help. When it was working, it didn’t want to accept Master Card credit cards. The only one that worked was my debit card, which luckily I had with me because I always use credit card to pay. Overall it was easy and good, although the machine might need some upgrades for their payment type.

I really wish that the quality of the keys were good but alas I cannot lie. I think the concept and the customer service are great, but for one reason or another my key did not work out. I would not recommend at all. Customer service mentioned: "Not all designed keys are available for all key brands. Designed keys are only available for Kwikset and Schlage keys, and there may not be availability for the key you want in that brand. When you enter your key, the machine identifies it and then gives you options of what keys are available for your brand and key type. If the machine does not carry that brand or that size then it will not offer it to you. " Well it did "copy" my key, but doesn't work so there you go.

I have the WORST luck with locks and keys and probably 75% of my attempts at getting keys cut are unsuccessful. I had just tried to have a key copied by a human at a hardware store who told me my key was “unreadable” and couldn’t be copied. Conveniently located in Walmart near the entrance. Pricing seems reasonable at $4.99 for brass, $5.99 and up for other custom decorations and styles. They have a lot of styles available in the machine (as pictured), but the screen menu showed only 6-7 possible options to choose from. Bummer! You insert your key, the machine clamps it, analyze, and makes the keys. I bought two copies and a third was given free (buy 2 get one brass free). Fitment was exact and works well. I'd use it again, but only wished they give all the selections available from the machine.

I did a Google search for key cutters near me it told me minute key was closest to me and then Google maps took me all over my area when the minute key was in Walmart! 2 min from my home but had be driving around in circles for 10 min. Then when I finally get there customer service tells me it is this machine wich im immediatly frustrated with. I wanted human assistance not a machine. Get through all the crazy and screen and go to pay. That dam thing only takes credit cards so I left without keys. Thank you minute key that was my entire lunch break and I still have no keys.

2/3 times I have used this kiosk the keys have worked fine and it was quick and convenient. Although the selection of key designs is significantly less than the first time I used it, even though I can see several other key designs inside of the machine & don't understand why you cannot select those anymore. The 2nd time I used this kiosk the keys did not work. But the company was quick to reply and refund my money as soon as I notified them. Easy instructions on creating a new key. Was fun to watch. Mostly because I'm easily amused ????. Pricing is different depending on getting a basic key with no logos, a key with a logo of some sort like Canada flag, dog picture, home, etc and also on how many you want. I wanted two keys made and there was a deal, buy two get one free so that worked out ok. Cost was $11.28. Oh and the kiosk I used was inside the Walmart store on Fanshawe Rd. So it is open when Walmart's open. Handy hours.

Initially I wasn't aware that Minute Key existed. A friend of mine gave me a Promo Code to use so upon looking up for locations near me, I discovered that there was one within a ten to fifteen minute drive from me. I popped into the store and found the Minute Key machine easily. The procedure was extremely simple to go through and I loved being able to watch my key being made right before me! The best part was that there wasn't anyone in line, I didn't have to deal with a single person, and finalizing the transaction was smooth. I did everything on the touch-screen in front of me. I used the machine for the first time, I don't know what happened during scanning , there was some error in the scanning and the ordered key was not similar to original one but I asked for a refund and I received the refund, then I made another key during my next visit to Reno Depot , the results of 2nd try was perfect. be calm and take your time to become familiar with the scanner and you will get good keys in a minute. there should be detailed instruction on the machine about how to insert the key into scanner to have perfect scan and I had to remove 1 star because of lack of instructions but I give 5 stars because of their fast response and refund. Quality of macining the keys is perfect.

Very surprised and happy with this service. I went into a Reno expecting to wait a long time for an employee to show up and make copies. To my surprise I found this Minute Key machine. I made 3 copies of 2 different key types. All work without issue. Indeed, after navigating the menus on the touch screen, each key took about 1 minute to create. The only thing I don't like is a certain type of key has the Minue Key logo carved out, it will make it hard to stick a label to the handle of the key. Also the Lite key seems like it will break easily. Not sure I trust it.

The kiosk is handy. It was easy to use, and quick. The only thing that I didn't like is that when it offered me three keys for the price of two, it didn't tell me if they all had to be copies of the key that was presently inserted, or if it meant I could copy more than one key. For this reason I didn't use this option. Two copies of one key, and one copy of another, would have been nice. Was that option available? Oh, if this machine offers paper receipts (not just emailed receipts), your machine in the Centre Mall Wal-Mart is out of paper.

This is the new and best way to make keys. The machine scans and laser cuts your keys. This eliminates going to back to the store to fix keys not cut properly, or waiting a long time at stores to find an employee that knows how to cut keys.

The machine does not recognize the size of the key, in my case, I took two copies of different sizes and the machine did not identify the size, I can not use any of them, one is very large and the grooves are out of place in the copy, in the case of the large one, there is no grooves in the copy, they were cut.
