Great customer service and very helpful. Needed to replace the tumbler on a vintage mortise door lock. Able to identify an source a new tumbler for the lock. Reasonable price for a specialized part to be ordered in. Would recommend this supplier. Other customer that needed an on site call was in the store and she also was very happy.

I've been meaning to write a review since I went here to get keys cut last month. Oaktown Lock & Hardware was recommended to me and I'm glad I stopped in! It is a quaint family owned store! What a great day! Thank you SO much for sending over a horrible human being to my place of work. Treated me like absolute garbage. Embarrassed me in front of everyone. Called me a liar. Saying he didn't care. I was wrong. I was making things up. Throwing things around like a child. If he's unwell... he should NOT be working. People should not be treated like that. You made me feel so horrible. I should not be feeling like this at work. When all I needed was help with a lock. You lost my business.

This is a Mom and Pop style hardware store with the kind of wonderful old-school style customer service you don't see often anymore. The small human that was with me when I went in was also delighted to find two (well behaved) dogs in the store, too. I was after a particular ant bait that I couldn't find anywhere, and Oaktown Lock & Hardware had it, and it even cost me several dollars less than the ineffective ant bait I bought at the big box store a few days earlier. Lower prices, better products, better service - I'll be shopping here first when I need something in the future!

This is a long overdue (well 2 months overdue!)! 5 Star rating for Oaktown Lock & Hardware. My house key got stuck in the front door one Monday morning & upon calling the store, Mike immediately listened to my concerns & was able to easily identify my poor quality (big box store brand) door lock & had me come in to the store to choose a new door lock & arrange for installation. Upon arriving I was immediately helped by Mike again, and he gave me a very good chunk of his time to explain the different types of door locks he had in store (many styles/finishes to choose from). He was able to arrange installation with his colleague for later that morning which really helped me out. The man who came out to install was also great & I felt that for once we were getting a proper, solid, front door locking mechanism after years of cheaply made, wonky/faulty door locks. ...Opening & closing our door is now oddly satisfying!! :) Thank you Mike & all at Oaktown Lock for saving me that day, and for the genuine service, friendly conversation & small town feel that only an independent family business like this can offer. -Samantha S.

I had a key that was broken off in the door lock. I retrieved the broken part with a pair of pliers and took both parts to Oaktown. They cut two keys using the broken one and both worked. Thanks for the great service.

I had a blank key I bought for my GM vehicle, I had it cut at the dealership and was convinced it was fine when I programmed it to start the car. Only to find it wouldn't open the locks. I took it back to the dealership and they shaved it down a bit but it only opened the door and not the trunk. Some research online led me here, the closest locksmith with an actual shop. The locksmith was unsure if he could salvage the key, he spent less than a minute on it and to his surprise it was fully functional! Very helpful, very informative, a nice dog came to say hello. The icing on the cake, he didnt even charge me. Just said he was happy to help.

Cody, our locksmith sent by the company, could be a role model for what you want in a service person. He was polite, very professional, pleasant, thoughtful and knowledgeable. The company advertises being a family owned business, which I always find to be a strong positive. The man I spoke with to start the re-keying process (possibly ‘Mike’ - the grandson) was very polite and sympathetic to my plight- I needed locks changed quickly and Oaktown exceeded my expectation. Highly recommended - and appreciated! We needed a new front door lock ASAP since ours broke! I contacted the staff outside of business hours on the weekend and could not get there on Monday until closing time. (Staff was willing to stay after hours to accommodate me!) I was grateful to get lots of info over the phone and by email about the new locks recommended by Mike. We were able to book a service call for first thing the next day and had a fabulous new lock installed. It's a real time-saver (and sanity saver) shopping at Oaktown Lock & Hardware. The staff know their stuff, they stock great products and provide very friendly and professional installation service! (Meeting the dogs in the shop was a welcome bonus!)

Poor Service and Dismissive, Poor advice! I went, to remove a simple Master Lock Pin Lock/regular key but was told it was not possible “before even attempting to open the lock”! It was suggested that I should go to a car collision shop and have them remove the lock with a blow torch! It felt dismissive but who was I to say?! So after Listening to their suggestion I was asked “Why” by the car shops???? Go to a lock smith. In response to owner below! The owners comment below are FALSE! There were at least 2 PEOPLE IN THE STORE AT THE TIME ! Both at the front of the store and NO OTHER PEOPLE (clients) in the store! The lock was a year old! Had a specific cover on it to protect from rust and which he actually moved aside in order to look at the lock! There was no rust and Never did he make ANY mention that this could be a issue. Nor did he say he was alone in the store and couldn’t do it....(because HE wasn’t). And finally It was understood the lock would be unusable and that I could replace the lock! Instead of a simple apology Mike, your option was to make excuses. The only sorry was that you received a poor review! I’ve lived in Oakville since 1985 so I know how long you’ve been in business, and it was the reason I came to YOU! The arrogance and false response solidifies my review. Review Cont’d I went to Superior Lock and Safe in Oakville and not only did the fellow pick the lock and remove it in exactly 1 1/2 minutes, but managed to spot my keys in the Wheel well, sheer fluke.....and “Did not charge me” Now that is Service! “Oaktown Lock and Hardware” I DO NOT Recommend, dismissive, poor service. Maybe you’ve been in business so long you forget How to treat your clients!

Excellent Installation and Amazing Customer Service Mike did an amazing Job with fixing an existing install of my lock, that was done by another locksmith. This shop is a jewel in Oakville. Every time I go there I am so impressed by the professionalism and courtesy shown by the employees. They have a solution to every lock problem you can imagine. They have a great selection of high quality door handles knobs etc. Everything you might need for a kitchen reno! I like to browse around.... there is so much interesting stuff!! He ended up spending a good amount of time fixing the alignment of the doors because the builders did a terrible job putting the doors on. None of them closed and now they're perfect. Needed a Storm Door Latch. Friend suggested Oaktown may have the part. Called location and they advised they on limited hours due to curbside pick up restrictions but could help if I got there by 4pm. Arrived at location Gentleman answered door and had part waiting on counter. Fantastic Customer Service. Great to be able to support a local business during these difficult times. Big Boxes are taking hours or days to provide items yet I had part in 10 minutes. Highly recommend Oaktown and hope more people support small local Business. Keep up the Great work.

I have never in my life has such a disgusting experience in any retail store. I brought it two keys from the condo I just purchased and asked for some copies. He took one look and slammed the key down on the table dismissing me. He started yelling at me and shooing me. An agressive and almost abusive in his behaviour made me, a young woman, scared to be there. The only reason this review gets even one star is because I feel so sorry for the young man that works there. He apologized profusely. Obviously this is not the first time. Other customers on the store told me that he picks and chooses who he is nice to. Clearly a misogynistic man. I am still in shock with how he treated my poor mother and I.

I needed a key replaced and went to a major hardware store they cut a new key but it didn't work. I went back and they cut another key . I was the same as the first one. I gave up on them and went to Oakville Lock and Hardware and they cut one in less than thirty seconds. It worked perfectly. The cost was the same.
