They have pestered us relentlessly by email, phone and junk mail to upgrade our existing system to 3G. They were constantly crying that the sky was falling and we would be left without service if we didn't upgrade immediately. When we decided to upgrade they charged us immediately (that was the immediacy, they needed our money), but after 4 weeks we have yet to hear from them about doing the actual upgrade. When we contact them we get the "don't call us, we'll call you".

John Hildreth -- the specialist tasked with updating and expanding our existing security system, took care of everything correctly and efficiently, going so far as to improve some of our existing security measures that were acting a bit glitchy. John truly earned his praise, however, by helping me push my car out of a snow drift it was stuck in (apparently I can't navigate my own driveway). I'm sure he had other jobs to do, but he took the time to wade into the snow to help me push my car out. Without his help, I would have been very late to a work meeting, and the thought of being late was causing me a fair amount of stress. He didn't have to help, but he did, and for that I am very thankful. And I made it to my meeting on time!

If I could give negative 5 stars I would. Went a weekend without communications and they knew and told their supervisor there was no communication but never called me. I thought I was being protected. Then they were quick to want to send a tech until I said I am not paying and wanted an explanation for no call. A tech stepped me through fixing it. They installed CO detection 6 years ago. The detectors expired in Feb and started to through trouble alarms. Floyd had no knowledge of expiration of what to do. I found the expiration date myself and they have been removed and system stays in fault. When calling to update the call list they are rude. Many calls they have not asked for a password which should be done on all calls. They should follow up on equipment they know expires and they really need better customer service. Rudeness has driven me to another company in the Twin Cities. I would never recommend Floyd Security for anything. They have gone downhill progressively and they do nothing to correct it. Sign of poor management when employees do not care how they treat customers. My advice stay away there are other local companies that treat customers with respect and take security seriously.

I acquired two antique pieces of furniture which locked with a skeleton key. I called a locksmith, the tech was very friendly but couldn’t help me. He recommended Floyd’s because of their experience and reputation with old locks. Today Craig came out, diagnosed the problem and used his Dremel to refine the key and pouff magically opened 11 locks! This (middle age) gentleman has never done any other job. He was professional and extremely punctual. I’m thankful skilled people are finding companies who value them. We had already decided to use their parent company Per Mar for home security. We had a similar great experience. They beat ADT on professional knowledge, expertise and price. FIVE STARS!!

I knew him long before Floyd was (rightfully so) established as THE leader in home and residential security in the Twin Cities. How many CEO’s take the time to occasionally answer the phone, talk to customers, and get personally involved to make sure that the high quality of service to his customers are maintained? You see that attention to detail throughout Floyd’s business practices whether residential, industrial, business or government. What I appreciate most is the small town feel while doing business with a major security company. Everyone from office staff to the field representatives out doing the work are pleasant, efficient, and most to the point extremely competent in the execution of their jobs. Jen in the accounts office who manages billing deserves a call out for her patience in dealing daily with clients juggling multiple payment platforms, and Rich Rudloff in the field office is easily of the very BEST field reps in security I have ever encountered in a long career that involves federal and local security. He’s a walking compendium of expertise and application. I just recommended Floyd to a young acquaintance of mine. His father, who lives alone, had suffered a break in while he was home. My acquaintance asked me for some recommendations and I said, “There’s really only one go-to for home security in the Twin Cities. Call Floyd Security and get a system set up that’s monitored 24/7 by a real person, who is here in the Twin Cities, with administrators and supervisors you can talk to, that can get help to you IMMEDIATELY.” I e-mailed Floyd on behalf of my acquaintance and a representative was in touch in less than an hour. Less than an hour. It’s an unfortunate consequence of our times that there certainly seems to be a significant increase in break-ins, burglaries, and other property crimes that are often either unreported and/or uninvestigated if actually reported. In times like this, it falls to us to take our own measures to be secure, and partnering with the best security company in the Twin Cities is a good (and affordable) way to do that. Updated my review 5/29/19 I've stuck with Floyd for 6 years now, with multiple businesses. Are they perfect? No. Are they willing to fix any mistake they make? Absolutely. I've had them install multiple systems now in facilities ranging from 6,000 square feet to 20,000+ square feet. The end result is consistently exactly what we want, and anytime there are hiccups they are responsive and have gone out of their way to address it. ********************************* Do not use them! We paid five figures for our security system at our preschool/daycare and have experienced nothing but complications, poor customer service, and incompetent staff. As soon as I signed the contract, there were issues. We experienced everything from delays in installation to them installing door access alarms on the wrong doors! (drilled holes in our doors then weren't even the right door!). Was told our bid didn't include something that was in our contract and had to argue with them to fulfill out contract. Worse is the customer service on ongoing issues since completion. We have had the system operational for less than 6 months. We have already had multiple faulty door alarms (the alarm that goes off if someone opens an emergency exit), door alarms that go through a battery in weeks (supposed to last years), and awful customer service. Our keycard access door stopped acknowledging some cards just 3 months after opening - and then tried to charge us for fixing their faulty installation! Seriously?!?!? I had to call and argue about it with them. They provide absolutely zero support after installation and if you make the mistake of not asking them how to do every single thing with your system - and not memorizing it, you will pay $100+ later for simple phone calls. The latest - and completely ridiculous last straw for me was this morning. One of our neighbor businesses had a break in. We were fortunate enough to catch the thieves on our security system. The police requested the tape - but I was never shown how to record the feed (they didn't directly connect a monitor, we have to log online to view it). I called this morning, explained the situation (police have requested footage) and they are going to charge me to tell me how to record from the DVR!!!! Extremely disappointed all around. And when I opened another business 2 weeks ago, I didn't make the same grievous mistake of using them. I went with ASAP security - who has been nothing but helpful, timely, and goes out of their way to make things right the first time (and doesn't charge for questions/additional support!!!). Don't use them. I certainly won't ever again.

Setup a free consultation visit as we were still deciding if we wanted to change any hardware in addition to the locks. Technician was on time, we showed them which doors we were thinking of changing the locks on. Left the room for a work call, and when we returned all the locks had been replaced and they requested a credit card for the bill. I called the office to discus the miscommunication and fees to change out the hardware if we decided to do so. It was confirmed that the paperwork said "consultation". There was no discount or savings if we decided to changeout the hardware, even though the error was made on their end. The feedback was also not received favorably. Seemed to do good work, but beware they may proceed without permission and then expect immediate payment.

Floyd Total Security is a rare company, they work together like a family and provide state-of-the-art (user friendly) products to protect your home with OUTSTANDING personal customer service. Our experience began with Floyd Security nine years ago when we installed 4 outside cameras with a security system for our new custom built home on the lake. At the time, I worked with Tony O. who handled the project; strategy, wiring and install. We view the cameras from anywhere in the world from the Hik-Connect app on our cell phones. Through the years, I built a wonderful relationship with Tony. I would reach out to him regarding questions or quick fixes when I needed help as it relates to our system. Tony’s follow up is nearly immediate. Through the last few years, we added 4 more cameras. A couple years ago I reached out to Tony for advice to upgrade all 8 dome cameras… it was at this time his colleague John H. installed the 8 upgraded 5MP resolution day and night dome cameras. Recently, we decided it was time to upgrade our entire Honeywell system to Total Connect Remote Services through Z-Wave. I called Tony who introduced me to Jerry J. Within a few days Jerry was at our house going over the Honeywell system showing me first-hand how the system works on his phone and through YouTube. Jerry worked with an electrician and his install group to get everything scheduled simultaneously. The new Honeywell Tuxedo Touch Home Security and Automation allows for remote access. From our cell phones, the Total Connect application allows us to control, from anywhere in the world, our security system, inside and outside lights and garage doors… and has the capability to send alerts to our cell phone regarding the cameras or home alarm. I was fortunate enough to have the install completed by John, who also handled our camera install. John was with me in the house the entire day (12 hours), replacing the existing control panel, upgrading keypads and a whole host of other pieces to this sophisticated puzzle. He was at the house promptly at 7:30 am, is very professional and respectful, was wearing a mask and gloves (during Covid-19), he got down to business and worked diligently. At the end of this very long productive day, he patiently helped me load the application on my phone, went through the processes of uploading, passwords, offered suggestions regarding features, etc. He was extremely helpful as we went through the testing of all the new user friendly features on the cell phone including the new high tech keypad for the house. I enjoyed my day with John; he’s a talented wonderful human being. Floyd Total Security is a seasoned group of individuals which allows for a seamless experience. We are absolutely thrilled with our new features to control the house! As it relates to pricing, the monthly fees are very reasonable for home security and to complete this upgrade we thought the pricing to be very fair; more than affordable and worth every penny. For the last nine years, we have been able to securely rely on Floyd Security; it’s a great team, they help us sleep at night. We wholeheartedly endorse their services!

I had a horrible experience with Floyd. They came out tore out old security system to put in a new one. At the end of day one he was going to leave without having new security system going! Over the next week to 2 weeks they were having all kinds of issues. Had to call constantly and they had no sense of urgency. The staff was Rude, combative, argumentative and uninformative! There training was poor and Communication was non existent. I would not recommend this company to anyone!!!

The monitoring seemed good and responsive overall during the several years we did business with them. Our main problem was with how they handled their faulty installation practices. We had a new sliding glass door installed in our living room over the spring and the technician who was out to reinstall the sensor on the new door placed it in a location where there was some additional pressure on the plastic. The sensor broke at 1 am several months after the installation and we asked Floyd to send a technician out to repair it. The technician blamed us for the failure even though we had not touched the door or sensor after it was installed and Floyd refused to wave a second 100 dollar service fee where they reused the same sensor that broke and applied some cheap double sided tape to the door/sensor instead of using a new sensor. The job was done very sloppily. Floyd was more concerned about their additional service fee than retaining our business in talking with the customer service representatives. I would recommend one of the many other responsive and local security monitoring companies over Floyd as I feel Floyd does not have their customers best interests in mind.

Left us unprotected for a month but charged us. They claimed that the tower was down and they didn't know when it would be back up. Horrible all around experience after almost 4 years of being a loyal customer. I really wish 0 stars was a option:-( Protect America here I come:-)

Had alarm set off a few times floyd security contacted me instantly to let me know it was activated and ask me what there next step should be. When a sensor has a battery is dead im am contacted imediatley. They take the worrying out of my mind.

I've hired Floyd to install/upgrade systems in two of my homes over the last 10+ years. Sales and Installation are very knowledgeable about what's new and how to incorporate older equipment into the overall system, allowing for the most economical installation/upgrade. SRSI monitoring has always been courteous, responsive, and reliable. I feel safe knowing they are monitoring when I'm home and away. I wouldn't chose any other home security company.

Great company unless there's a problem My experience matches the reviews below--customer service and install when ordering is great and friendly but not much in terms of standing behind work. We had a sensor go bad. First, the system doesn't have any sort of diagnostics to check that it's working--we had to discover the fault ourselves, so so much for peace of mind. Second, they only warranty for a year--given what they charge and that they pick the equipment they install, a longer warranty seems in order. Finally, they won't even quote a specific price for fixing it (although helpfully they do say their techs have "lots of experience replacing defective sensors--see above on warranty). With the follow-up service, you may as well go with self-install.

Floyd Total Security is the most AWESOME company I have worked with in years! From Chat Support, Phone conversations, Emails and on site Locksmith Support, they were very nice and courteous. I had an AMSEC gun safe that I gained possession of due to a death in the family, but no combination to go with it. Getting into it was important because of the potential of items in it needed to settle the estate. They made their schedule fit mine. Locksmith Frank X came to my rescue. He was of a great personality, very courteous, very knowledgeable of his profession, and explained what he was doing as he went along. My location was a little over an hour away from their shop and that made no difference to them. Locksmith Frank called me to let me know he was on his way. I have never needed locksmith services in the past and I can guarantee you that if I ever need a locksmith again, Floyd Total Security will be the only phone call I will be making and I will be asking for Frank X. Thank you Floyds.

I had the opportunity to work closely with this company. I was searching for a security company for my mother's home. She lives by herself and was moving to a new area of town. I spoke with Karen Gott about setting up a walk thorough, install and follow up apps for both my mom and myself. I was so happy to know that the monitoring center was right here in Minnesota and not a state or two away. This made the decision easy and simple. During the walk through Karen showed us what we needed to replace from a previous system and what could stay and be reused. That showed us they care more about the customer then the money on new parts. During the install the employees were very nice and polite. I never heard a curse word or witnessed behavior I didn't want my kids to be around, they happen to be with me that day. My boys were so excited to watch the guys work and the installers explained what they were doing and why. I think they answered 100 questions just from my boys that day. I would highly recommend Floyd to any of my family and friends. Follow up and customer service at It's finest. Thank you for making it easier for my mother to live alone and the best part is... she feels safe and trusts the equipment and the monitoring.

I am happy with Floyd. The technicians I have worked with have been professional. The customer service people and monitoring station staff have been friendly. The business is local, and I trust them more than a huge company like ADT. Their prices are fine. My only complaint is that twice the monitoring station has not asked for my password when I have told them an alarm was false. They need to clean up stuff like that. Overall, I would still recommend Floyd.

We had trouble in the beginning with alarm going off once. Our dogs set off the alarm because of their barking. We needed to have Floyd come out and adjust the sensitivity. We have not had any trouble with our dogs setting off the alarm since. We otherwise feel secure having Floyd security.
