What great service! I went in on a Thursday and they were busy but I still received great, fast service! I needed a Mustang key cut and programmed. Cut a key was $5 and programming was $85. Worth it to have a spare. They programmed a second key for free! To top it all off, my battery died in the parking lot and 2 guys gave me a push start! Outstanding service! Highly recommended!

I called multiple locksmiths the other day. Some said they couldn't do it. Other said I dont have time. Not even lets do this tomorrow when I have time or even lets do this next week. They just said "I don't have time for this". So when I called Davis they were very helpful. I told them the possible 2 issues it could be. The gentlemen on the phone told me to go get a key code and he would make me a key first to see if it was a key issue or the ignition so he was trying to help save me money if possible and I really appreciated that. It turned out it was the ignition. They came out same day, but due to not having a part it was finished next day. Even so very helpful communicated everything along the way. Pricing was upfront I didn't need to wait in limbo and find out. You guys saved my ads and my truck thank you again. Great quality work and reasonable pricing.

My spare key decided to no longer work in my front door, so I went to Davis for a new key, bringing my lock with me to make sure I got it right. At Davis, Chris took one look at the cheap lock the builder installed on my now one-year-old home and explained how the "smartlock" was so inferior to a proper pin and tumbler lock that making new keys for the old lock would be an ongoing affair. Since I hate getting locked out my house, I bought a proper set of locks and installed them easily. They look and feel much better than the originals. I mentioned that my inner garage door had no deadbolt, and decided to have Davis do an install in my home. Chris arrived exactly on time and knocked out the install perfectly. The work was excellent, the area completely cleaned up, and Chris was very courteous and professional. Davis Lock and Safe had always been a great source for all of my lock and key needs, and now they've proven themselves to be excellent home service professionals as well. I lost the teeny tiny screw that holds my fob together. I stopped off at Davis and told the gentleman what happened. He pulled down a container holding tiny screws. He put a screw in that was a wee bit bigger in order to hold the sides together more firmly. Perfecto! I asked what I owed him and he said “There’s no charge” I asked, “Really?” He said “Yep, have a great rest of your day!” WHOO HOO!! That is an example of some fine customer service. Very rude person on the phone, lacking customer sevice skills. I asked a simple question on a process of rekeying a new $450 vehicle ignition cylinder. (Q. To rekey & match do you take wafers off or do you replace them with new ones?) The guy flipped, he knew what we were talking about, didn't like I used the word wafers, but got loud, rude and raised his voice as he asked me questions and interrupting me as he drilled me some more, started raising his voice and also said "If we have to take some out and not put them new ones back in order to get the job done, do you have a problem with that?" Didn't let me answer and drilled me some more and yelled "Are you questioning our process" and he hung up on me. By reading other poor reviews I got the answer to my question about what they have done in the past for the same process, in another similar vehicle Ignition cylinder. They took 10 out of the 14 wafers out and left only 4 wafers in. Now I know why this person got so upset and rude at me for asking that simple question. I am glad I avoided disaster like this customer did, that would have added insult to injury. Wow!!!

I want to start this review by saying I do not usually write reviews, but this place was so amazing that I absolutely had to. This place is amazing! Very friendly, helpful, and fast service. My key got caught in the ignition and after calling multiple car service places someone finally recommended Davis Lock and Safe. They spent a considerable amount of time working on my key and ignition, and right when we thought the problem was fixed, the workers discovered that I’d have to go to a mechanic to fix my car, as it was a car problem rather than key problem. Despite spending time and labor working on my key and ignition, Lance was kind enough not to charge me a service fee! He also showed me what was actually wrong so that I’d have an easier time telling the mechanic with what my car needed. While I was waiting for my key to be fixed, I was impressed with how quickly and efficiently multiple people were helped with friendly service by the Davis Lock and Safe team. These workers are legit locksmiths and are not looking to scam you out of any money. I will definitely be back with any lock troubles I might have in the future.

Duplicating a key is apparently very simple(for older cars at least). Needed a copy so I went in very close to the closing time. It took all of 3-5 minutes; I handed them a five dollar bill and I was out the door with a spare key. Quick service and plenty of staff around to help.

I have used Davis Lock & Safe for a long time and have never had a complaint. I recently had to program a Prius key fob and they did a fine job, but charged me $85. OK, I guess, what do I know. Then I realize I didn't have the emergency key in case my fob stops working, so I ordered one from ebay and took it in to get it cut. I was in there 2 minutes before they closed (NONE of the 7-8 employees milling around had masks on) and they charged me $50 to cut the key!!! I asked if it was really that expensive and got a generic response that it was a "security" cut, so I paid and went on my way. I needed a battery charger, so I next went to Batteries Plus down the street and got what I needed. O noticed they do electronic key fobs and cut keys and asked what it cost. $55 for the fob programming (because I brought my own fob in, otherwise $35 if you buy it there) and $20 to cut the key. I feel ripped off and will go elsewhere in the future. Unfortunate.

They had the exact part I needed to repair an exterior door lock. The big-box stores had parts that were supposed to work, but didn't. For us normal people, there's a lot more to locks and latches than you'd think and online information can be pretty useless, it seems. The next time I need something, I'm going direct to a locksmith like Davis. Yeah, it costs a little more, but the fact that it comes with professional advice and a professionally-vetted inventory of products makes it well worth it.

Came in to have a new key made for my flip fob on my Tacoma, the guy that helped me was quick and pleasant enough and I was out the door with a new key in about 5mins... Well that would be great if the key worked. It did not fit and would get stuck in the lock no matter how gentle I was. I took it back inside and explained the problem. The guy cut the key a little more and I was out to try it again. Still wouldn't fit. I came in a third time and he made another fine adjustment. I took it outside and once again it would not fit. Upon taking the key inside for the fourth time the clerk came out with me to the truck and insisted that I just needed more leverage to break it in. He clamped the key with some vise grips and used the extra leverage to crank the key and force it to work in my lock. Yeah it works now, but it is horribly sloppy and only works one way. I can tell this key will wear out my tumblers if I continue using it. Frankly I'm not willing to risk that on my brand new truck, so I am down to my one remaining factory OEM key, which works effortlessly no matter how you insert it. I'll give em 2 stars because they tried to make it right, but wow I am disappointed considering this is a locksmith specialty shop. Using vise grips to force the lock to cover up shoddy work is NOT an acceptable solution.

The guy I worked with was knowledgeable but not very nice - to the point of being aggressive. I asked him about keying two locks and he said it was not possible to key them the same. After arguing a while, almost to the point where I wanted to ask him to stop yelling at me, I decided just to have him make a key for each - which he did. Then I asked for a duplicate set and he still was difficult to work with but did it for me. When I got home, I realized I could not tell them apart because they were already exactly the same!! Now I have four of the same keys because he just couldn't admit that he was wrong and they already were the same. Oh, and they are WAY too expensive.

I have been a customer of Davis Lock and Safe for many years. In 1997 I moved into a new home with a lot of exterior doors and had Davius come out to the site and re-key all of the locks, which they did quickly and for a great price. More recently, I needed keys/alarm fobs programmed for my 2013 Ford Truck. Lance suggested a few things like non-alarm fob (cheaper) security keys for access and start and multiple security keys in case I lost another one. I approached Davis again a few weeks ago when all keys to my child’s car were mysteriously lost. Lance recommended that I simply get the key code from the dealer and then quoted me an excellent price to provide new security keys (with programming) if I could get the car to Davis and alternatively if Davis had to come to the car. Lance even “lent” me a key blank (no charge) in case the dealer *had* to cut a key. Providing flexible cost options is a signature sign of excellent customer service. Davis’ folks are friendly and helpful. I recommend them without reservation.

I went to the large yellow building just to get a basic key made for my house. It was quick and the service was pretty good. I would recommend getting key copies made here instead of the quick machines at Fred Meyer or Safeway. They do a much better job cutting it correctly. The quick key machines produce key that only work for a couple of months. What a waste, especially if you're paying the same price at Davis. Hey, and there's a Cash N' Carry next door if you need to shop. :)

Update: I later found out their keys come with their name and phone number engraved. Free advertisement for them? No thanks. 2 stars. Update: One of the keys they cut didn't even work. They cut too deep into the spine, and the left and right weren't symmetrical. 1 star.

I've had an ignition switch jamming issue for my Jeep Grand Cherokee for some months . It finally froze to the point where I wondered if it wold ever turn again. When I described my problem, Lance knew it immediately; and had the parts in stock and ready to install if I could get it started one last time. 'Common problem' he said. ' bump the lock with a small hammer whilst trying to turn it and it might turn one more time.. When it did; drove straight over to the shop; 15 minutes later had a new working ignition installed.. Ordered some key fobs and blank keys online. They cut those blanks I bought online and they did not work real well. They said no worries, pulled out better quality keys from their stock, cut them and they worked great. Gave me the $10 credit from cutting the two substandard ones I bought online. Went out to car to make sure they worked. For a $10 job they really put in a lot of extra time and care. Highly advise using this shop.

Davis lock and key is always been my favorite locksmith. I've always had A mom and pa locksmith.. The old guy that knows every lock, and has those weird key blanks that's been collecting dust over the years. But Davis lock and key, has always come through for the oddest key and lock situations. They have never failed me! And at a reasonable price. My latest emergency was with my SS Camaro. It takes a special electronic key.. Three out of three dealerships didn't carry the key in my Camaro needed with the correct electronic resistance. However Davis lock and key had six copies. The old Davis lock had everything, but the new Davis seems to have double of everything. And the new owner went out of his way to get me ASAP (very fast) and saved me $75.

Seriously the nicest man I've ever met. I locked my keys in my car and John said he was leaving as soon as I hung the phone up from speaking with him. He was at my house within 15-20 min and it literally took him like 2 sec to unlock the door. BUT his generosity did not stop there, he continued to offer us FREE keys for our car and house. Check the battery in one of the car remotes because it hadn't been working.. the battery turned out to be fully charged so he then offered to try to reprogram the key using his computer. Again, all of out of generosity. He also makes and programs almost ANY kind of car key for wayyyy cheaper than the dealer. Very friendly man and offered us so much information without hesitation!

Just left their office...had lost the keys to my trailer hitch lock and expected to have to cut it off. A friend suggested I first try Davis (Duh! I've used them before for small needs) I went to Davis and they were able to remove the lock within a minute or two AND advised me to go out and buy a new one instead of spending $$ with them for replacement keys, as it would be cheaper for me! OMG. These guys are awesome. I brought in a Mercedes lock which they admitted wasn't their strength. They figured it out and fixed the tumbler within an hour. I have no idea how they did it since the key was not turning in the tumbler to remove it. The best experience I've ever had with a locksmith. Highly recommend!!!

Bought 2 new sets of Schlage door knobs and a Schlage deadbolt from them about 2 months ago, spending about $250 or so. I installed them myself replacing my existing hardware. For reasons unknown to me the interior thumb turn locking mechanism fell off. There is no way to fix this mechanism as it is just press fit onto a piece of plastic. For the cost of a Schlage I expected something better. I took it back to Davis Lock & Safe who also was unable to fix it. The owner also declined any return or exchange as it was beyond their 30 day policy. They will not be getting any of my business going forward. I'm very disappointed in a small mom & pop type business not in any way trying to help a customer. I had intended on buying a large safe from them, thankfully there are other places for my business going forward.

I asked them to re-key an ignition lock for a 1986 Saab 900. They did and charged me $85 for the service. When I took the lock to the Saab dealer for installation, the key would not stay in the lock nor would the lock work properly. A second locksmith fixed the problem for half the money. He found that the lock required 10 wafers, but only 4 were installed, rendering the lock useless. Davis said tough, you should have returned it to us, but that was not possible as the lock was many miles away. Live and learn. After nearly 40 years of being their customer, I will not return to an establishment that charges twice as much and can't fix it the first time.

I first had Davis lock change all the locks on my house and had a bunch of keys made up. Three months later one of the locks already failed. I believe that the lock wasn’t fixed proper fix the first time they came out. They told me there is only a 30 day warranty. I set up an appointment for them to come back and fix it. Also asked for a manager to call me back which never happened (terrible customer service if you ask me) So an employee came out to fix it which he struggled to figure out what the problem was. He said it should be good to go I tried it one time and it was still broken. This happened at least three times. I think they finally fixed it charged me $160 for something I truly believe they didn’t install properly in the first place. I also have a feeling this lock won’t last long. I probably should have given them a one star but I was feeling generous today.

Horrible customer service. Though this seems to be standard practice these days, we were treated like we were bothering then. THE OPEN SIGN IS ON GUYS! Put on a smile, use the manner your mom taught you. Paid way too much for a fob remote for my Hummer. When it came in i asked them to program it so the horn honks when i hit the lock button. He said its impossible. GM doesnt make them that way. I googled it and did it myself in less than 15 seconds. I'm a local contractor looking for a good locksmith for my customers. These guys dont make the cut.

Before I called these guys I called several other locksmiths as my jeep door locks would hardly work anymore. Was quoted anywhere from $85 and up per door and kept getting callbacks to see if I was ready for to get this work done. Called this place, spoke with the owner and he suggested I come by and they'd look at it and see if they couldn't get it working by cleaning it up and cutting a new key. Also told me WD and lithium sprays don't work in OR. He cleaned up and lubricated all 3 lock cylinders with silicone, cut 2 keys (which he modified to work better) and sold me a can of silicon all for about $15. This place is honest and decent and I would highly recommend them!

I stopped in to have a couple of keys made. The employee opened the door for me (extremely courteous), and offered to stamp one of the keys so I could remember which key was for which door. I also picked up a padlock for my shed. All of this took only a couple of minutes! Their service is fast and inexpensive. And, they have a mobile locksmith, in case I lock myself out of my car. Someone tried to break into my truck overnight and completely destroyed the ignitions cylinder and switch. When I towed the car to the mechanic shop, I got a quote for $850 and they said it will take around 6 hours to do it. Then, I called Davis Lock & Safe and they took care of it in an hour matching my original key and it only cost $350. The staff is very experienced, friendly, & professional. Thanks guys

Sadly, not recommended. These folk were called when a combination was forgotten. They merrily attached a very loud robot to the lock and proceeded to let it run for several days trying to "pick" the lock. It was a low end lock, and we later found out when we had COMPETENT locksmiths clean up the mess davis left ... it would take under 15 minutes for the technician to "pick" (manipulate) the lock and open it. The job turned into an expensive one since davis robot had reduced the innards of the lock to dust - and that required drilling and use of bore scope to open, as well as a complete replacement lock. Hmm... Save your money, check my other reviews to find out who did it right... And updated (#2) again! Sweet! They claim I'm a shill... hmm... they really are clueless as evidenced simply by this exchange... Nope, not a locksmith, just a customer who is helping others to make an informed choice. Is this how you keep a high average review rating - harassing people who post honest but critical reviews? Cool! Works? UPDATED (#1) ON THE SAME DAY! Response from Davis: "Honest, Guv, it wuzn't us!" - hmm.. I'll have to see if I have video of the debacle - I seem to recall filming this as well as taking pics when the "not clueless" guys opened it - dust inside the mechanism - only dust... I feel like Gomer Pyle, I wanna say "Gooooooly!" - what a motivation to find old records!

Great Customer Service, and Honest! Stopped in on Friday, had a couple of questions about a lock that was missing keys. I was told the prices upfront, my options to replace and cut the lock off. I ended up cutting the lock off myself. Decided to come back and purchase a new lock, after explaining how the lock would being used, several options were presented. I had a deadbolt that was completely stuck and a furniture delivery that was scheduled for later in the day that had to be delivered through the door with the stuck deadbolt. Davis Lock sent someone out within an hour and the service tech was amazing! He unstuck the deadbolt, replaced the lock, and fixed the way my door hung so that I don't have to purchase a new door. First time customer, went in to have a duplicate key fob cut and programmed. The staff was extremely knowledgeable, honest, and clearly explained an issue with a worn ignition lock cylinder on my older vehicle. Well, I got too smart for my own good and attempted repair work on my own....after breaking the ignition and consuming a large plate of crow, I had it towed back to Davis. They were completely cool about everything, undid my damage, fixed the ignition and got it working with the duplicate key fob, all while sticking with the original quote. These boys are the greatest!!! Lost a remote key to my daughter's RAV4 and couldn't get into the car. Doug came to the house, opened the car and made a new master key. Needed a remote key, so they special ordered one for me. When it came in, they were able to program that key as well to the car. Well, guess what? Worst customer service I have received in a long time. The guy on the phone was rude and not very understanding and didn't even quote me a price so by the time his technician arrived 10 minutes later even though i was 3 miles down the road because "he's on lunchbreak for 10 more minutes." which I can understand, but still could have been handled a lot better. $75 to help open my door is outrageous, and had I been quoted before the technician arrived I would have sought other business. The business response that they did quote a price is a lie to attempt to cover up their mistake instead of try to resolve it and admit it. A professional would verify that the customer knew the price if they don't dispatch them without it, and no verification was made and blaming the customer and saying their bad day caused the bad experience is poor form and even more bad customer service. Will never use this service again after the issues my fiance also had with trying to get them to help him late one night for a similar reason. They gave all sorts of excuses as to why they couldn't help instead of attempting to earn the business and show good customer service.

I called a few places and called Davis Lock and Safe. This was the only place that was willing to give me a set price to Re-key my car that was stuck in my driveway. (Lost my only key). They were a few dollars more expensive than the others. ($15 more). I paid $175 Bill arrived about 12:30. About 1 hour after I called. With some technical difficulties, and just not giving up, he ended up staying until 5pm. He STILL only charged me $175. A promise is a promise. "That's what we quoted" he said. I got 2 extra keys for no charge. Bill was great and very friendly. Thanks Bill!
