Halifax Buy and Sell are always friendly and reliable. They are hands down the best pawn shop in HRM. I showed up to sell a few items, and in the heat of the moment left the store, forgetting to get the cash for one of the things I sold. Once I remembered, I called back an hour later, and Rob reminded me I had forgotten the money. Only one word can describe Rob and the others at Halifax Buy and Sell; that word is integrity.

Excellent customer service! Rob was patient and very knowledgeable when I was shopping for a laptop. The shop is clean and well organized (unlike some pawn shops). I'll most def be back if I'm in need of any other items.

This place is a literal sweat lodge sauna in the summer, i wanted to browse a few times but only could last in the store a few minutes. All those AC units in the corner, you should hook one up!

I would buy it from them and my dog is picky, but I am sure that the dog food would be the best, priced right and served with a chuckle. Thanks again.

I don’t usually leave reviews as I am always very busy doing awesome stuff and sometimes moderately busy with pretty cool things. Ok serious time READ THIS FOR THE TRUTH about this pawn shop! When I retired from work early on disability I found myself In need of cash more then once. I tried a few different shops because they were closer to me and they did the job; but I can promise you that “Halifax Buy and Sell - Hydrostone” is the best Pawn Shop in the HRM. This sounds like an ad left by the owner so far, BUT don’t worry I will give you the bad stuff about them too! Read on... The good - You are going to sit down with someone that knows the pawn business and knows the merchandise you are there to pawn. I got this pawn machine named “Rob” several times. You get top dollar for your quality goods and your out the door in minutes. He is just probably an advanced artificial intelligence pawn droid, nice guy and stuff, great guy even... Until artificial intelligence takes over the world you might as well enjoy flawless service in every regard. If you don’t get ‘Robopawn’ have no fear, I have always at least had a person that could complete an internet search in minutes and I have always gotten a fair price EVERY TIME, I never had wait 30 plus minutes while they decide on a the value of your goods like some shops. I think they have a greeter there like Walmart! He makes you feel at home and comfortable there. Looks like he was hired just for his looks. He just roams around the store doing nothing ever. I’m not judging to harsh I hope.....just hard to see some employees working up a sweat making the store a great place and this guy looks like he just left his Hollywood Spa treatment. Awesome guy, I guess Im just jealous I worked my whole life and this guy can coast like this. I heard he called in sick one day because he got the wrong hair gel from Switzerland. All joking aside, I like a place I feel comfortable dealing with and that values my business. These guys go above and beyond every time. It’s a great shop.....the owner got that cranky way about him but you can break him down I think. Might take me a few more pawns. Oh I promised the bad......Make sure they got enough money to buy or pawn your Item late in the day. I went there to pawn something and even though I’m awesome, my stuff is awesome and mom says I’m handsome.......They didn’t have enough money to buy my stuff!!! That was a bad day. I never did a review before and I am awesome at them, everyone else sucks. Give me free stuff or money or let me see under your bra and you can have a review too......I’m being honest in the review even if you pay with the under your bra thing.

These guys are the best! Really friendly and a great selection of second hand goods, resonable as well. I always enjoy going in the store even if its just to take a look around, I would highly recommend anyone! Overall, just a great place and staff are amazing!

Wasn't very impressed when my bipolar son was in a hypo manic state and was buying something that had a stickered price but another price was somewhere else on it. They decided to not honor the cheaper tag price but charged him the higher price..... he is happy with it in the end but was disappointed none the less

Make sure when you want to buy something from here that you go in the same day because if you try and get them to hold it for you for a day they will just sell it to whoever comes in off the street.

Called the shop to ask if they would consider holding an item for me while I drove an hour to pick it up. They said that they would put it aside for me for the rest of the work day. I immediately left and showed up within an hour only to find out they sold it to someone else. Their response? "Sorry bud".

I was in two days ago to buy an xbox 360 for my son, the unit was a little expensive for the used market but then I saw how they test them because someone else was in selling a PS3. They take the time to actually make sure the disk plays in the machine. I've had a few systems that I have bought used that would turn on but not play a disk. They help eliminate this problem! I chose to buy the system for this reason and have been enjoying it problem free. Thanks guys!!

Terrible customer service. I visited them this morning looking to get a pawn on my laptop. I had called them the day before asking what the normal range for the type of computer I had would possibly be. The guy I spoke to refused to give a range and said he would have to see it. Well when I walked into their shop today and introduced myself as the guy who called yesterday and described the computer I had. The response was the best we can give you is $20. He didn't even bother asking to look at, which he said yesterday he needed to do when I spoke to him yesterday. His justification for offering $20 was that he has a similar one for sale for $40. The computer I have is worth $1600 new, even less depreciation and resale value, it was nowhere as low as $20. This place is nothing more then a licence to steal. It's seedy and looks run by a criminal organization. Beware.

The goods on display are way over priced. I went to see an electric razor for example at $60 plus tax . I showed him the new price on my iPhone is only $80 . He did not budge on the price. Paid someone maybe $10 yet wants to sell 6x 's that much. That's 600% profit. This guy is a scoundrel in my opinion (unfair and greedy) ! Profits on the misfortune of others! Then he bids them 'a good day'. Look around for a better price. Don't support this kind of thing.

I had arrangements to pick up my stuff at a certain date and when I did they were pulled. I was told that it was because I gave them a bad rating because of how I was treated. I just frustrated and they over reacted. I didn't hurt or threaten anybody. My voice raised maybe but that's all. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Amazing service They will go above and beyond for a regular customer. It's rare to see a company that puts the person above the almighty buck, especially in the form of a pawn shop! I mirror the other positive comments. If you need to find something used or pawn/sell a valuable item, trust me, go to them. If you don't get top notch service I'll eat my hat. And I need my hat for work.

It's a pretty well kept pawn shop. They offer pretty good prices on goods. Their appraisals are a bit hit and miss though. Location is good.
