REVIEWS OF Lockston Path Provincial Park IN Newfoundland and Labrador

John French

One of the nicest parks that we have ever stayed in. Comfort station was well looked after and our site was large enough for 2 medium tents, a kitchen tent and two vehicles plus privacy from neighboring sites.

Danielle Mikituk

This park has nice treed sites for tenting and a quiet vibe. I didn't realize just how big it is, so some sites are very far away from the comfort station, which has plenty of showers but only two bathroom stalls so it can be a bit of a traffic jam there in the morning. My favourite part of staying here has been the hiking trails. They are exceptionally well maintained and feature a lush, mossy forest with interesting plants. While we stayed here there was a water boil advisory which we were not notified of ahead of time, so I would come prepared for that just in case.

Fred Guzzwell

Big sites, lots of room to set up.

Emilie C-Lagacé

Good wifi....nice park ...nice sites....must boil water before drinking....5km of dirt road to reach park entrance

Amy Alexandria

Great park with private tent sites, super clean bathrooms, only issue is tent sites with gravel coverage as the gravel really does not hold tent pegs well! However a major bonus to have a water tap at each site! 10$ cash only wood

Adam Snow

Great campsite! 5k of gravel road to get there so take note.

André Racine

(Translated) Still, but the water must be boiled! (Original) Tranquille mais l'eau doit être bouillie !

The new campground is very nice and clean. We arrived at the end of the season and they called this "shoulder season" so we couldn't reserve a spot but we ended up getting an entire loop all to ourselves.

Michelle Hynes

This is one of the best places for tent-camping in the province. Some actual grassy and private sites.

Lesley French

One of the best parks we have ever camped at! Great site with water and privacy with trees around the site. Shower facilities were really good with lots of hot water. Outhouses were clean and conveniently located. Look forward to camping there again!

Matt Fudge

Absolutely beautiful little park.

The place was great, private camp grounds, swimming area, although the staff weren’t very personable and most of the tenting area was crushed stone. But if you come prepared it’s all good!

Great camp site. It is pretty busy in the summer. Site availability may be limited.

solo walsh

Very clean comfort stations, quiet park. Everyone obeyed quiet time rules such as turning off your generator.

Nicholas Thoms

Beautiful place and awesome camp grounds some available with great privacy. Could use a sweep in the change rooms by the water though. Staff was great and very helpful.

Do not tent here! Nice spot, too bad they ruined it with a campground. The river is a nice feature, sites are horrible, even more so due to inability to peg into the dumped gravel. Manager told us his hands are tied and couldn't give a refund on the second night even after we were soaked from the first one due to the unsecured fly. Would have appreciated being told that at the gate upon arrival. He's a grumpy old fellow who's attitude is reflected in the rest of the staff.

Sylvie Gaudreault

Very noisy. I was still awake at midnight since dogs were barking non stop and people were having a party....There is no rule applied for quiet time.

Had a great weekend with son and family at Lockston Park this weekend. Very clean park and family friendly. The comfort station with showers were great too....staff were great as usual.

We made a small mistake and camped on wrong site yet the ranger were so kind and understanding and just clarified it but let us not move settings People around us were so friendly, such a great stay and experience

Beautiful campground! The kids had a blast!

Clarence Sweetapple

Stopped briefly for a rest. Easier to access from Trinity Bay side as the road from the Bonavista Bay side is terrible.

Susan Crocker

Great campsite! Private campsites, great facilities (water at each campsite, comfort station with flush toilets and hot showers, etc), nice unsupervised swimming area, playground for children. Wood available for purchase on site.

Robert Piercey

Brendon Brentnall

Very well kept and clean...great place for kids and adults alike

Shawn Bailey

Rough road getting into the park, but it's a beautiful park, private lots and a typically quiet atmosphere.

Rick Collins

Well kept. Nicely away from traffic with that wilderness feel. Staff very accommodating.

TA Loeffler

Great base for exploring the Bonavista peninsula. Family friendly with a quiet ethos. A fine campground to call home.

Don Andrews

Clean, quiet, a home away from home! Staff are incredibly knowledgeable of the area and will go above and beyond to make sure you have a relaxing time away from home. All roads to and from and around the park are not paved, usually dusty, especially in dry weather. Beware if you have any respiratory conditions.

Fred

I arrived and planned to stay two nights but when I set up I realised I needed more equipment and went back to the office and advised my predicament and asked to change to only one night. Although I was a walkup and paid cash I was lectured that if I booked online I cannot change my mind!! An hour after I paid they would not refund!! I felt it was a grab for cash. Not going to give them any more cash.

Jesse Brown

Havent stayed here but its a beautiful place with a nice little beach

Alex Beck

Park is a nice visit with varying styles of camping sites available. The beach is small but still nice with tables etc. Park staff were friendly and comfort station provided most of what would be needed. Cell reception is incredibly poor and wifi that was offered at a separate station did not work. The road in is not ideal but otherwise a good spot to stay for visiting around the area.

Beautiful spot to stop for the night. Nice and clean park and super friendly front end staff. I just wish for the trailers parked in a non-serviced lot either generators were not allowed or the cut off time was earlier. We had the misfortune of being beside a group of jerks who ran their generator until 11pm on the dot. Kind of hard to enjoy nature and the fire listening to that hunk of junk. All to light some patio lights? Not cool. Power during the day and turn it off at night. Beware of the road coming in! Super bumpy!!

DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND YOUR TIME AT A GARAGE GETTING YOUR FLAT TIRES FIXED. TWO DAYS TWO FLAT TIRES. ALSO LOTS OF PARTYING.

Kevin Rowlands

Beautiful park with a nice river valley clean and quiet our site has power and water

Sherry Peddle

(Translated) Clean and well appointed. However, compacted gravel does not really allow you to pitch tent pickets. (Original) Propre et bien aménagé. Toutefois, le gravier compacté ne permet pas vraiment de planter des pickets de tente.

Meredith MacDonald

Absolutely beautiful. Lots of privacy and space between sites. The only negative and still cant blame them for this is the radio tower in the night time is SO bright.

Chantel Nash

Really nice campsite! Quiet and peaceful :) The comfort station was extremely clean and spacious. I would highly recommend this site.

Jamie Toope

It's just the best matured Park to go to

Aaron Ludmer

Went for day use which was reasonably priced at 10 dollars for vehicle with 5 people. Very scenic but we spent only a few hours at the beach and park too. Dogs were swimming just beside the swim area which was fine. Kids wore water shoes as beach somewhat rocky and very coarse sand. Overall enjoyed.

Park is in a great location however there was a fire ban and boil water advisory. We were trying to boil our water and warden made us put out our fire. We were forced to drive to a nearby town and buy wasteful bottled water. Where's the common sense?

Needs more playground upgrades for the kids, with what they have now is not much.

Well arranged campsites for privacy, water tap was at our campsite. Good beach with a great view and friendly and helpful staff. Good place to stay to see Port Rexton and Bonavista.

Damian Castro

A great campground close to all touristic attractions in Bonavista peninsula.

Elysia Blanchard

Not as much privacy as I would've liked. Continuous staring into my campsite. Everything else was great.
